De los museos más bellos que he visitado. La exhibición surrealista de Leonora muy bella y el recinto fenomenal ya que anteriormente fue un reclusorio. Al ingresar al museo soliciten la visita guiada, les contarán historias magníficas de esa cárcel. Si va a SLP visita obligada!

Beautiful art form Leonora Carrington. Her sculptures are amazing!!! However, the store (tiendato buy items related to her work was a disappointment. A few items, only small t-shirts to buy. non of her sculpture in miniature...nothing to remember the experience of going to the museum. Its a shame...

Toda una experiencia! Al parecer las obras se encuentran en simbiosis con el museo, por sí misma la obra de esta artista es una impresión para el visitante, sin duda, la obra arquitectónica las lleva a otro nivel! Imperdible! Joya nacional.

A mi parecer es lo mejor de la ciudad. El lugar físicamente es muy bonito y grande. La colección de Leonora es alucinante, sobre todo la escultórica. Imperdible!

Uno de los mejores museos en San Luis Potosí. Este recinto artístico debe visitarse forzosamente cuando uno está de visita. Está dedicado a la vida y obra de Leonora Carrington, una mujer nacida en Reino Unido, pero mexicana por adopción, y que se consolidó como una de las máximas exponentes del surrealismo.El museo cuenta con varias esculturas, dibujos y bocetos de Carrington. No es tan grande, pero si quieres apreciarlo en su totalidad y con calma, te tomará alrededor de cuatro horas. Las instalaciones tienen lo necesario para que personas con sillas de ruedas también puedan disfrutarlo al máximo. Los miércoles, la entrada es gratuita para los ciudadanos potosinos.

One of the best museums Ive visited. Great curation work and exhibited works.

Liked it. I only lament the few amount of paintings from the artists, lots of drawings and sculptures though. Enjoyed the short film, at least that way we could see more of her paintings.

Fantastic museum. Def worth a visit if in town. It was free when we visited on a Wednesday, not sure if that’s the case every Wednesday though

Un lugar que sin duda tienes que visitar si o si cuando vengas a SLP. Es una experiencia muy completa, incluye esculturas, pinturas e ilustraciones de Leonora Carrington aparte de tener exposiciones temporales. Me encantó. Recomiendo llegar temprano en cuanto abren el museo para que puedas recorrer las salas sin que se saturen ya que son pequeñas y tienen un aforo limitado.

This is a must see museum!I cant believe that I didnt know about Leonora Carrington--until now.During my visit I learned about how difficult it was for women artists at that time, to be taken seriously and given the opportunity to exhibit their work.In what was a male-dominated artistic world (Diego Rivera, Dalí, to name just two from that era), women were the "muses" that inspired male painters and their work was not taken seriously.Considering that dynamic as the historical context, it makes sense why such few female artists acquired the level of recognition that someone like Frida Kahlo did. For one, it helped that Frida was married (twiceto one of the worlds best-known muralists--Diego Rivera!Of course Frida Kahlos artwork was amazing. But so is the artwork by Leonora Carrington, who was also a very talented sculptor, and many other Surrealist female artists from that era.All in all, this is a "must" visit museum when in San Luis Potosí.

Es realmente inspirador.Cuando fui la exposición temporal me llamó mucho la atención, excelente contenido.Además hay una escuela de artes muy completa, las instalaciones quedaron preciosas, es un lugar cautivador

Lugar incrível que conta um pouco sobre a trajetória da artista Leonora e seus logros no México. As esculturas estão bem interessantes, descobri que ela era Feminista representando muito em suas obras isso. Onde o museu está localizado também possui uma exposição de fotos e outra exposição relacionada com a Leonora, porém de outra pessoa. O lugar era um antigo presídio, porém está todo reformado e muito bonito. Vale a pena a visita com calma. ENTRADA: 55. Estudante paga metade. Aberto de martes a domingo, possui alguna recorridos noturnos grátis. Necessário reservar lugar!

The building itself is spectacular and unique, but the museum was a little bit disappointing, probably because the artist herself is not as significant and original as we thought. Like all Mexican museums, it has a lot of administrative workers doing nothing and occupying almost half of the space.

This museum was inaugurated in 2019. It has a lot of meaning that in the past, this space used to be a jail, an now its a space to liberate your creativity.The space is beautiful, as well as Leonora’s works, but for me, there are lot of works missing.I really wanted to buy a lithography, and there where none in the store.But if you visit SLP you should visit this museum!

Contemporary to Frida Kahlo but far superior as an artist.This museum is an amazing exhibit of many of her works ina Porfirian age ex-jail.

Nice place to visit with your family, can buy tickets online and nice coffee Shop inside premises.

Get lost in the minds of surrealists.But first, buy your ticket online. If youre a foreigner, you might need someone else to buy it for you as the payment system doesnt work with some cards.

I spent most of the day wandering through this old penitentiary converted to art school and galleries. Truly magnificent work by Carrington and students of the school. I highly recommend a visit here.

Excelent place to visit, it is very interesting that it was a prision a few yeras ago!!!

The museum is located in a building that was originally a prison and was renovated and now holds the exhibit. The place and its courtyards alone are worth a visit if you are in San Luis. Leonoras exhibit is interesting and you can read about her life. The exhibit -although small- consist mostly of sculptures that look amazing in the open spaces and some sketches and paintings. My only criticisms is that some of the rooms are very dark and it is hard to truly appreciate the pieces.

Still not available some of the areas but what a great experience. Its a must when youre traveling at San Luis Potosi.

The place is extremely well renovated on the space of an old XIX century prison. Old cells have been turned into an art space for the work of Leonora Carrington and also for his sons surrealist art. Its not that big space, one would have expected more paintings and works from her. However, the architecture and design of the place can improve the experience.
