5 stars for the room with the Blanes paintings, amazing artist! Some very iconic paintings of the history of Uruguay.1 star for the other art exhibits, not my style. The Japanese garden is located behind the museum and also worth a visit.

This is an art museum on the same grounds as the Japanese gardens. One room has large impressive works of classic art. Another has a temporary exhibit -- clothing and textiles when we went there.Cant beat the price... $0A worthwhile destination!

It’s a nice place to visit for art-lovers. However, if you’re not into this, you’ll probably find it boring.Of course, there are paintings by some of the most important Uruguayan artists (Blanes, Figari, Barradas... and even one by Torres García). But if you’re not into art, this is not the place for you. Trust me.However, if you go there to visit the local Japanese garden, give it a try, as the museum is right there.

I was so excited to visit. Unfortunately its in such a sad unkept state. Other than the very few important works of art. I would say not worth the free admission.

Beautiful museum and completely free. Each room is better than the next and the staff is very informative. (If you understand Spanish)Buy something from the gift shop to keep this place open.Unfortunately the Japanese garden is closed on rainy days so keep that in mind.

Must see uruguayan works of art. Nice room for itinerant exhibitions. Beautiful building, with patios and garden. Also, donated by Japanese government, the tiny and well kept, Japanese Garden. The place is accessible with wheelchair, not without difficulty.
