Très beau musée. Plus grand, beaucoup plus grand que ce que jimaginais. Dans un lieu à haute valeur architecturale. Pour les passionnés : compter minimum 3h de visite. Parking sur la place située à 3 min à pieds

Très chouette musée gratuit pour les enseignants avec la Carte Prof et les enfants. Mon petit garçon de 3 ans adore y aller. En plus de super expos, il y est très agréable de se promener.

Très beau musée, et beaucoup de pièces. Juste dommage quil y a beaucoup de photo mais peu dappareils, il manque quelques explications sur le développement photo et le fonctionnement des appareils au fil du temps.

Une visite imprévue, le temps dune pause sur la route, encore merci à notre carte pass musées.Installé au sein de lancien Monastère des Moniales Carmélites à Mont-sur-Marchienne en région de Charleroi, cest le plus vaste musée dEurope consacré à la photographie,Un lieu magnifique, superbement rénové, une belle découverte.Collection impressionnante, expos temporaires intéressantes et captivantes, nous navons pas vu passer le temps.Ne manquez pas les jardins, et larchitecture extérieure, ils valent aussi le coup.

Magnifique musée. Il faut prendre son temps pour en faire le tour. Les expositions temporaires changent régulièrement ce qui ajoute une plus value à la collection permanente. Cest loccasion aussi de découvrir des photos très anciennes ainsi que des appareils photographiques rares.Le personnel est au top et sympathiquePassez également par la café pour vous rafraîchir ou manger quelque chose. Des produits locaux et biologiques sont également disponibles.Le parc à larrière du musée offre aussi un bon moment de relaxation après votre visite.Je recommande vivement la visite à tout les passionné.es de photo. Amateurs ou professionnels cest un régal pour les yeux.

A great discovery after years on my wish list. The detailed collections take you through a fascinating history of photography. I really recommend the guided tours, if you can join one, to hear the personal stories behind many of the works. Another nice surprise was the building itself - a sympathetic conversion of architectural heritage, and easily reached by public transport.

Belle découverte dun très joli musée . larchitecture du bâtiment vaut également la peine dêtre vue. Les expositions sont très bien présentées.Le plus une cafétéria où les plats et les différents sandwich sont très bons et copieux on peut y accéder comme on le souhaite pendant la visite.La réservation donne une priorité sur les entrées mais nest pas obligatoire.Parking aisé soit devant le musée soit sur une place à proximité 5min à pied

Vriendelijke ontvangst. Museumpas komt overeen met 50 procent korting. Het gebouw is ruim, bijna een doolhof. De tijdelijke tentoonstelling NOOR had zijn ups en downs. Ik kon mijn gading zeker vinden in de honderden fotos die tentoongesteld werden.

Very nice if youre into photography. Warm welcome. Clean and quiet. Bar/resto in the back very friendly service, good prices! (And ok in warm weather)

Really wonderful museum, superb Permanent Collection, obviously heavy on Bel/Franc/Ger art, especially from the early golden age of photography, but great representation from all over the world. Large exhibit on the science of cameras and lenses upstairs for kids to even adults unfamiliar with the science. Huge exhibit on lots of lovely antique cameras, showing the evolution. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this museum and cant believe I lived so close to it for so long and hadnt gone!BONUS: There are discount coupons online and because of Covid regulations currently in play, hardly anyone was in there. (Nice and a pity at the same time.)

Lastig te bereiken met het openbaar vervoer, zeker op zondag, maar wanneer je er eenmaal bent wil je niet meer weg! De geschiedenis van de fotografie wordt nergens zo mooi geïllustreerd als in de vaste collectie, chronologisch of als avontuurlijk ontdekkingsparcour. De tijdelijke expo (Witkinwas zeer indrukwekkend en dan waren er nog 3 extra expos allemaal van hoog niveau. Gaan!

Met mijn vriendin heb ik dit museum bezocht tijdens corona, het was echt een leuke dag geweest. We waren van plan om ook de graffiti street art route te doen, maar we hadden geen tijd meer, dus houd er rekening mee dat het museum erg groot is en je minimaal 2.30 uur nodig hebt om alles te zien. Reservering is verplicht. Senioren betalen 5 euro, volwassenen 7 euro.Zeer mooi museum dat gevestigd is in een oud klooster. Het herbergt een grote en zeer mooie collectie fotos, waaronder het werk van beroemde fotografen zoals William Klein, Lisette Model, Henry Cartier Bresson, Bruce Gilden, en nog veel ... Deze werken behoren tot de permanente tentoonstelling. Verder is er nog een mooie ruimte voorzien voor tijdelijke tentoonstellingen. Toen wij er waren was de gastfotograaf Joel Peter Witkin met een heel speciale vorm van kunst. Interessant was dat er ook een ruimte voorzien was met uitleg over het proces : van tekening tot eindresultaat.Aan de gebouwen van het oude klooster is een moderne vleugel bijgebouwd waar de hedendaagse fotografen tentoongesteld worden.Bij de ingang krijg je beknopte informatie over de veiligheid van een bewaker en er is een veiligheidsrichtlijnbord dat je kunt lezen. Handgel is over het hele gebouw aanwezig en mondmasker is overal verplicht. Hier kun je ook de techniek zien die wordt gebruikt om fotos te maken en leer meer over de geschiedenis van fotografie. De meeste fotos zijn zwart-wit. We hebben hier ongeveer 3 uur doorgebracht. Indien de cafetaria en de binnentuin open waren geweest, zouden we hier nog langer kunnen gebleven zijn.De binnentuin en cafetaria zijn tijdelijk gesloten wegens de corona maatregelen.Erg blij met mijn bezoek aan het museum. One of the best museums Ive visited in my life back in 2016. Authentic, down-to-earth, no fancy commercialised arts, just photoes of us and our stories.

Fantastic exhibition including works from all the greats. The current temporary exhibition on the photography and photographs of Magritte is great too. The small old convent entrance is deceptive - the modern extensions make this a huge museum. I spent 6 hours there! Café with a lovely view of the grounds has a short menu of reasonably priced lunches & snacks.

A very special museum but maybe too much. Mire documentation would certainly help not to be lost in hundreds of photographs.

Très beau musée. Avec des œuvres photographiques de personnes connues. Pour les amateurs de photos cest un "paradis". Au moment que jai visité, une partie du musée était en restauration. Il y a un accée pour les chaises roulantes. Une petite cafétéria pour faire la pause entre des visites.

Disappointed by the permanent collection. This is one of those museums where the building and garden is worth more the visit than the exhibition itself. Please note that access is not free with the museumspass. 3,5 EUR per person for museum pass holders.

Excellent collection

As a photographer, this was probably my best museum experience in Europe. Fortunately, when I went there, there was an amazing on-going exhibition of photo project from Africa. So many awesome photographs from when photography started back in the 1800s till today. The museum is huge, so I would say get ready to spend there 3 hours at least. Be a professional or just an amateur photographer, or just a passionate about photography, dont miss this if you are in Charleroi.

Huge photography museum with historical work and more recent pictures. Menu of the café was good as well.

Been there to see Robert Franks exhibition "the americans" and had the chance to discover a beautiful permanent collection... If you love street photography you will find there a bunch of the greatest pictures from the masters: William Klein, Lisette Model, Henry Cartier Bresson, the one and only Bruce Gilden and more... It is definitely the place to see the best out of the best, it is the greatest temple of street photography in Europe, you cannot miss this.

Located in an ex convent, it displays a wonderful collection of old and modern photos. The building itself mixes parts of the old convent and some modern architecture, which only adds to show the photos in a more interesting and artistic way, making the whole experience of the visit a very interesting proposition.

Large museum (largest of whole Europe apparently), as they have a great collection with some big names. You follow the history of photography through the centuries (surrealist hall was really cool), get an overview of the important aspects of making good photos in an educative hall and there are different expositions. For sure worth the ride out of the city.

Best 4 euros of the holiday. Many iconic prints from well know photographers and a detailed history of photography. Well worth a visit and parking is free outside.

Must see if you like photography and/or art. Accurate, very good permanent and temporary exhibitions

Nice collection but the museum as a whole is a bit small.The neighborhood is also not the most charming ;).
