59-61 Rue de Grenelle, 75007 Paris, France, Houilles
Sculpture, painting & drawings by Aristide Maillol & European masters, plus temporary exhibitions.
Good exhibition, not too big or too small. Very crowded on a Saturday afternoon, as to be expected. Friendly staff
The hyperrealism exhibition is crazy good!
A fantastic museum
Superbe expo de Steve McCurry« The photograph is an undeniably powerful medium. Free from the constraints of language, and harnessingthe unique qualities ofa single moment frozenin time.”— Steve McCurry
Great museum! The Steve McCurry exhibition is wonderfully curated. A must see!
A very interesting & estethic exhibition, with the loving eye & heart of McCurry vehind the lense. Some are photos I saw before some were new to me, but all were intelligent and special. Worth a slow visit.
Expo Steve Mc Curry formidable
There was an Exhibition of the American photographer Steve Mc Curry.
The exhibit of Steve McCurry’s photographie was spectacular. Big kudos to the museum team for presenting his stories so beautifully. The characters, the places, the culture, the children, the animals, the war, the nature, the humanity - beautiful choreographed
Visiting Musée Maillol with the Steve McCurry exhibition was one of the highlights of our stay in Paris. It was really special because of the size of the exhibition and the audio commentary by McCurry himself.
Very interesting museum where one can see a decent amount of Maillol works of art many sculptures but not only. Not everybody might find Maillols art very appealing as his tastes were a bit different, I visited his collections with somebody that really enjoyed most of the sculptures as well as with somebody that did not find them as attractive, however so many might not like even the most wonderful sculptures ever created. I would recommend visiting this museum after a few others that are a must in Paris unless you know who Aristide Maillol was, what he did, what you expect to see and you wanted to see some of his art before.
Wonderful photos and the permanent exhibition is a classic sculpture collection.
One of my favorite Museum in Paris.Always new updates with Contemporary art 🖼 this time #SteveMcCurry 200 photos
Every time i come here it is closed for some reason or another. Once again they stopped admitting people without pre-purchased tickets with no notifications.
The high quality expositions make this a must stop-by place in Paris.
The way they display the paintings and other decorations etc is cool and elegant.
I saw the Steve Mccurry exhibit of his photographs and the museum was great. Very clean and easy to navigate.
If you have the time and the chance to go there - don’t hesitate to do so!
This is an awesome museum. All the exhibitions Ive seen there were really clever (choice of subject, display, time to complete...).
The Steve McCurry exhibition is a must see! Go while it is still on. Impressive pictures arranged over 2 floors. Takes you around 1-2 hours to walk through the whole exhibition. There is an audioguide which explains you the story behind some of the pictures McCurry took. Overall, very impressive ans highly recommended. The permanent exhibition at the Maillol was not really my thing though but look out for the temporary ones!
Great space. Steve McCurry expo was well put together. Look forward to going again
I visited the museum during the Steve McCurry exhibition. His photos are beautiful, I really recommend going. Plus the museum has longer opening hours on Wednesdays, until 10pm, which makes it possible to go during the week and avoid even larger weekend crowds :)
Steven McFlurry - very beautiful exhibition which I strongly recommend
I came here for the third time to see the Steve MCcurry exhibition. The social distance was not respected. I booked my ticket for 4pm. The entire museum was so packed that one could barely see the photos. By curiosity, I checked the available tickets on their web at almost 5 pm and it shows that slot of 4:30 still had 7 spots left. I thought it was a joke. We were so packed already. Terrible visiting experience. Pity! The staff is very friendly.
Attended Steve McCurry exhibition and totally enjoyed every moment. An amazing range of photography across 3 floors. Expect to spend about 2-3 hours here
Fantastic display of the pieces but a bit too busy at times–avoid peak hours!
Gorgeous Steve McCurry exhibition. Awesome work by the museum, curator and various teams involved in putting this together to showcase the sublime work of Mr McCurry!
Superb exhibition of Steve McCURRYs photos that captures your eyes, feeds your questions, nourishes your curiosity, your desire for elsewhere and at the same time causes a tsunami of emotions in front of a moment captured on the spot, an expression on a face or a frozen moment and so animated by this energy of life. To discover urgently from an emergencyFor young and old. We visited the exhibition on a Friday at 2 p.m. and there was a little crowd when we left at 4 p.m.Enjoy
We went in a photography exposition that was very nice and well organized. The permanent collection is not outstanding and can be seen quickly.
Rather disappointing. Small museum, 14.50 admission, two floors: one had special exhibition of a cartoonist; second floor had works of Maillol. If you are familiar with the artist, you know he used virtually the same model for ten years; thus, the second floor is quite repetitive: same unclothed model over and over. I really enjoyed the paintings in the first room—would have like to seen more like those. Price of admission seemed steep for the short visit.
Excellent boutique museum with Maillol permanent collection
The Musée Maillol is an art museum located in the 7th arrondissement at 59-61, rue de Grenelle, Paris, France. The museum was established in 1995 by Dina Vierny, a model for sculptor Aristide Maillol, and is operated by the Fondation Dina Vierny. Lovely museum. Visited Naive Painting exhibition. Great gifts too and not all plastic rubbish, lots made from card and paper.
Great exhibition and permanent collection
This was the first time for us to visit this museum and we were very pleased to have chosen this exhibition of what are referred to as “” the naive painters “ whose everyday employment created the focus of their visual art..they created brightly coloured work of overlooked artists.. A very engaging exhibition and we were totally pleased to have attended this exhibition...
Exellent exhibition and a lovely cafe in the garden.
Lovely “small museum” in a fantastic location.
I am glad I got to see several Van Goghs up close. A few interesting pieces in the permanent collection. The sculptures of women on the top floor were beautiful.
Great museum, beautiful sculptures in the permanent collection and if you can see the Buhrle collection on impressionist and post impressionist art you will be delighted!
The collection Emil Bührle with great paintings of Manet, Degas, Gauguin, van Gogh, Monet. With a masterpiece of the 17th century Dutch landscape painter Albert Cuyp as an early example and inspiration for impressionism. On exhibition till 21 July 2019.Free access for members of FEG.- European federation of tourist guide associations
Small private museum, managed by the foundation of his favorite model and heiress. The Buhrle collection exhibit was an excellent overview of the future wing that the collector is building in Zürich.
Small intimate private Museum. Blockbuster temporary exhibits are well structured. Maillol is an amazing artist worth the visit on its own.
Very good and professional staff makes this museum a special. All i saw was amazing and very good. Very useful place of this museum give you possibility very fast visit it on your way to job or to home. All persons of staff very kind and available for requests personally. I recommend this museum for really interesting resting.
This is a very nice museum which is not far from Rodins museum and house. I have just seen Fujita exhibition and I was absolutely delighted. The visual was very good. The text, staging and scenery were adequate for the artist Fujita who spent much time having fun and creating at the same pace.
Great small museum dedicated to the sculpture and the paintings by Maillol
The Foujita exhibition is very good, but it was hard enjoying it - the rooms are very small, and often you have to wait in a small line before seeing a drawing or a picture. Even when not many people are inside a room, its very crowded. The permanent collection is nice as well - some Maillol drawings and sculptures, some of them are really impressive. Id recommend visiting, but try to avoid coming when its full.
Paris has an abundance of beautiful museums and galleries.Maillol is more intimate with a small gallery space and great curation of exhibitions. It features diverse work and often big names in the art world. Its on my must do list in Paris.
The reviews below are right. Not many things in English (which makes no sense for the POP art exhibition), no pictures are allowed (see my picture below muahaha), and its an OK exhibition. The picture thing makes no sense, the security people are after that other than actually taking care of the works of art. I saw children almost climbing on the cigarettes sculpture! I saw the permanent exhibition last year so I didnt even bother going up there (not a Maillol fan myself).I do think that the rooms are REALLY small and the curators should know better when placing text in high transit areas! Plus, Ive seen many more well-known works of art by Warhol, Lichtenstein and Oldenburg. Not my favorite pieces at Maillol. What I enjoyed the most was an 1980 documentary :/
Splendid! Fantastic! I learned a lot about Pop Art.But the icing on the cake were the beautiful life-like sculptures on the second floor. The women are beautiful and so alive that you want to grab them around the waist and dance with them!
The temporary Pop Art exhibition is a five star experience. Love the selection and explanations. In order to follow the exhibition in English pick up the audio guide or a detailed printout, otherwise you will be rather lost as everything is notated in French. No photos allowed for the temporary exhibition. Maillol permanent exhibition is rather underwhelming.
