Murphy’s Irish Pub in Virginia Beach

Fun bar. Service is very good. Beer is ice cold. Indoor stage had great music on fri and sat. There is also an outdoor stage, cornhole, darts, firepits, lots of seating. Expect a fun night!!!!!

The monster bowl of she-crab soup was absolutely delicious and I paired it with some tuna tacos. We really enjoyed our server and she gave us the history of Murphys.

Good food, good atmosphere. You would have gotten 5 stars, but I felt bad after watching the awesome bartender work his butt off, while 3-5 other workers (given the timesat in the corner next to bar and chit chatted the whole time!!! Place needs a manager.

Saw ad in hotel magazine. Figure we try in out. Best thing first off is they allow dogs to dine with you. However service and food was a disappointment. Reuben was very greasy . Spring rolls had no taste. Beef pie was size of a small size candy bar. Sorry I personally would not go there again…

We chose this restaurant because it has patio seating and its pet-friendly. We were greeted by our server, Stephanie, who is also very people-friendly! My husband got she-crab soup, which he loved. I got salmon with rice and green beans. The salmon was delicious and perfectly cooked. My husband got tuna tacos, and he really enjoyed them. Stephanie kept refilling my ice tea without being asked, which is always appreciated! The prices were very reasonable. We will definitely go back!

Wasn’t bad. Had more of a bar atmosphere. Not rowdy tho. Food was ok. Not a lot of flavor. They were outta Reuben which is what my husband wanted first. He got the shepherds pie instead, it was ok but bland. I got a Irish pie, it was ok but again bland and small portion. Felt like the serving sizes were small for the price. Family of 5 ate there $70 with drinks.

Amanda was absolutely amazing. It was a busy night with things happening in town and she promptly got us a table and got our drink orders/food. I loved her energy and just her in general. We come every year to VA beach and will definitely ask for her again.

This place is horrible. If I could give it negative stars I would. We went to support the MASA Highlanders and we are here for the convention and parade. After 45 minutes of waiting we still hadn’t gotten a simple coke or water. My step dads meal never came, and the calamari that I ordered was so soaked in black pepper that it was nasty and basically crumbs out of the bottom of the fryer. Our waitress seemed great at first and then she started asking for additional money on top of her tip because she had been out of work and made us feel very awkward. I don’t recommend this place for anyone. The food and service is horrible.

Great bar didnt have any food but service was excellent! Outdoor bar fun, bartender provided above and beyond service. Very attentive which we appreciate very much.

Waitress was nice and I feel bad that it went so poorly because I think they were understaffed, but the drinks were terrible and the food was cafeteria quality. Im not sure about the actually Irish food, but we ordered nachos and cheese sticks just to eat while we listened to music so I wasnt expecting like 5 star food, but I was expecting more than we got. Also, I ordered a rum and coke. It was like 90% ice and the coke was flat. Bro, come on. Its two ingredients. Wouldnt recommend.

Went here for lunch but I wish we would’ve gone back for dinner one night. Wings were cooked to perfection and I am a wing girl so trust me. Highly recommend. Atmosphere was cool too.

We had some late night appetizers. Nachos were awesome! Chicken tenders juicy inside, crispy outside. Potato skins were delicious. Pricing was reasonable. Would eat there again!

The food was amazing and it was well priced. We had Luke as a server and he was ok. We had different people bringing out our food and taking plates which isnt a big deal. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They have corn hole outside along with live entertainment; he was actually really good and was a little disappointed they didnt have outdoor seating to listen to him. But the indoor area was nice, cool, and had plenty of tvs with sporting events on. It was a great restaurant and nice experience. Must check out place if youre in the area!

Great place for a few beers and sandwiches. Live band. Can spend a few hours here!! Dog friendly!!!!

The food is very good. The salmon dinner was amazing. Great atmosphere for adults and children. Our server was very attentive and friendly. One of the best places in Virginia Beach for food and drinks.

Noticed that they had live music every night and a pretty good venue for it. I drove past and heard Pearl Jam covers which I thought would be epic to see. Next day I went it was originals which alot of people were into. My kids loved the shepherds pie. So did I. Steak was really good but the veggies that came wity it tasted from frozen and were tasteless mush. Overall good place

Hey there...my travel group "Stress Free Travel" (from Phillyvisits Murphys every June for the jazz events in Virginia Beach. As a group we saw "Patty LaBelle" at the Sandler Center of the Performing Arts. We have breakfast in Murphys Irish Pub in there private room. This year we were a group of 75. Most of us attended. I ordered the 3 egg omelette, potatoes, and biscuits. Delicious. The $2 mimosa in a mug are the best. Try the pineapple...yum. Nice staff, great room, fast service. Booths and large table seating. Enjoyable experience as always.

My friend and I had dinner. The Irish eggs rolls were tasty appetizer. The waitress was friendly and attentive. It’s was good time also they had live music. The waitress suggested the shepherds pie was a mazing!

Fish and chips lacked flavor. They brought ranch instead of tartar sauce. My boyfriend’s food didn’t even come out with mine and the food runner didn’t mention whether it was coming or not. We had to ask the server. I give it two stars instead of one because when that happened she took it off the bill without us asking. The drinks were good and I enjoyed the live music. We were just visiting for a few days so this was unfortunately our only experience.

Typically I come here because the service is great and the I enjoy the fish and chips. This visit seemed somewhat off and the fish and chips were not as good as I remembered. The chips were fantastic but the fish was very greasy and did not have much flavor.Hopefully, it was just an off night for them.

Absolutely delicious. I highly recommend their homemade beef stew. Great atmosphere. They had a band playing while we were there. Definitely made for a fun time 😊

Overall I love to go here. They have a wide range of menu items to choose from; ranging from Irish cuisine to great seafood. My favorite food from here is the fish tacos. There is both outdoor and indoor seating, both are great, however you will get smaller plastic cups if eating outside. They converted part of their parking lot to a stage, so now their live music is even better! I dropped one star because they do have consistency issues when making their food. Its never bad per say, but it can definitely range from great to okay.

Unfortunately came here very hungry but the food was not worth the wait. Maryland crab soup was disappointing, burger ordered medium was dried up looking and resembled a frozen patty. The waitress stated they are not frozen and had it remade. Much better but it was small for the price and had Canadian bacon instead of strips of bacon. The steamed shrimp were mushy and practically inedible but I was starving and ate a few. The waitress never offered napkins with the shrimp either which was messy. The lettuce on my sons sandwich was wilted and mushy. They charged for the fries he requested but only gave him a bag of potato chips. Drinks were all more ice than soda. The dinner bill without alcoholic drinks or dessert came to over $60.00. I left hungry. Not sure how they expect repeat business but guess they are just relying on unsuspecting people on vacation.

just stopped by for a drink and the atmosphere is wonderful and it’s a true pub. Pubs are my favorite place to be and this embodies a pub. Love this place

We had a group of 11. Our server was so nice, patience and attentive. Food was great and portion sizes were perfect. Lots of Irish beers available, as well as specialty drinks.

Great food at a good price. This was the hottest (temperature - wisehot food I have ever had at a restaurant. The kitchen staff bring food out to the tables on warm plates as soon as it is ready with no waiting for the serve staff to do it. Thats not to say the serve staff are not attentive. Our waitress Alison, pictured below, was exceptional.

One of the best places near Neptunes beach, very affordable, lively and fun time. If you love shrimp, you must try one pound shrimp with old bay spice and butter. Irish coffee is other best and many more.it is odd to say what I didnt like. One order of fries would be sufficient for 4 people.

In season or out of season Murphys has been there a long time and they are always a good time Im from Ohio I was stationed in Norfolk in the 90s and I try to make it to Murphys every time I visit the beach. Terrible picture but I didnt know I was going to be reviewing them the bartenders are knowledgeable atmosphere is Irish pub.

Atmosphere was really cool. My fish and chips were good. Shepherds pie was very lacking. Did not care for the Irish eggrolls. Pretty much just tasted of cabbage and cheese. Just a basic pub in my opinion. We did not have any drinks so perhaps the bar experience is more what the place is all about?

We were seated as soon as we arrived!! They offer indoor and outdoor seating. Great food and service, perfect for brunch.

Excellent food, atmosphere, service. Plenty of TVs to watch the big game as well as local live music in the evenings.My friends and I stopped in for dinner on a Saturday. Immediately seated, served our first round (huge drink menu), ordered an appetizer of raw oysters, and caught the Final Four just before the live music started.For dinner, each of us ordered something different and none of us had a single complaint. Food was hot, delicious, and quick.Murphys will forever be my go-to locale when Im in the area.

GREAT atmosphere, matched by the awesome food! Our server Alison was the best; she was personable, able to recommend good selections, & super friendly! We started out with the Irish egg rolls with mustard, which I found out they make right there. They arrived crispy, super tasty, & piping hot. For our entrées I got bangers & mash & he got the Irish stew with brown bread. Fantastic! There was live music in the parking lot when we got there, he sounded good! Looking forward to eating here every time we come down to Virginia Beach. Definitely give this Pub a try!

We love Murphys when we visit VA Beach for our running events! It is a busy place, so expect a wait. Food is great, they have a great Irish selection....its all awesome! Stop in for a pint and some food and a great atmosphere (even live music if you time it right). Even on a colder evening, its a great place for dinner!Cant wait for next time!

Best Irish Pub in Va Beach!!! I love the vibes, the live music and the food is amazing! I go eat there every time I visit town. My favorite is Bangers and Mash, probably the most popular plate from the menu. I took my parents for dinner on Christmas and they loved the food as well. I definitely recommend!

This place was amazing, the waitress was beyond awesome... the food was delicious and the drinks were equally matched... When I go back to VA Beach I will be going back...

Food was good but not awesome. Wait staff was friendly but seemed harried. Parking lot was packed at 5:30 but several open spaces at 6:30. Good atmosphere in the restaurant. Some interesting stained glass windows inside. Several TVs around to watch sports from the tables.

Ordered food via toast to-go. Ordered 8 wings fried hard with extra sauce.I WILL NEVER AGAIN ORDER WINGS FROM THERE!The wings were OVERLY fried! BURNT, I had to pick off the skin to get to the meat because the outside was soo tough, legit unchewable. After maybe 3 wings of having to spit out the tough pieces & pick at it, I threw it in the trash! I love my wings fried hard, I feel like they threw some old wings in the box. Like Im really disappointed

Ordered food to go. Side salad was a bunch of lettuce and onion and a few sad slices of cucumber. Also ordered a burger and some chicken sandwiches, none had any condiments, burger was cooked to death even though I ordered it medium and they give you lays baked chips in a bag for the side. Also no napkins or silverware for the salad not that I really wanted to eat a bowl of lettuce and onion anyway. Definitely won’t be coming back.

Food was very good ! We had 12 people and got seated pretty quick. Loved the smell of the wood fire. Very friendly, Definitely will return !

Chile it surely was not for me. I actually ate here 3x because I couldn’t find a not-crowded restaurant walking distance to my hotel.My oysters came with a ton of shell bits in them, which is a bit of an experience once they’re in and going down. I ordered a side of vegetables to take back to the room and they were cooked in so much butter and salt, it pooled in the container and were incredibly salty after rinsing multiple times in water. That might be your tea tho, so I’m not saying it was bad; just detailing my experience. Thank you for incl gravy with the potatoes; they don’t do that everywhere!Mostly it was the service for me. The girls don’t need to smile and act like the job is bliss but acknowledging a customer and doing your job bc it’s your job and not treating it as an inconvenience is the minimum in my opinion but that’s just me.

Extremely good Irish food. Tried the meat and potato pie which was had a flakey crust and well seasoned meat. Topped with a rich brown gravy. Hubby had the fish and chips. Fish was battered and fried golden brown. Very crispy! Came with bottomless cottage fries which were hot and nicely browned. All for a very cheap price!!

Always one of our stop-ins when at the Beach. Great selection of food and beverages very moderately priced. Caroline, our server was super friendly and attentive. She was great as well as the food and drink. Murphys never disappoints!

Spinach and artichoke dip was good, but not amazing. My single grilled crab cake was cooked well, but the entire thing tasted like crab-infused bread. I like a meatier crab taste in my crab cakes. The most delicious part of my dish was honestly the rice. It was very aromatic and I cant describe exactly what spices and oils they used. I cant give four stars because my crab cake just wasnt good enough to warrant coming back here.

This place has really good drinks, but the food was not impressive. I had an Irish appetizer which was pretty good and the smoked tuna tacos. Sadly the tacos were bland and not enjoyable. Id definitely go again for drinks and maybe try other appetizers, but wouldnt go there for food.

Appetizers is Irish egg rolls. Served with brown mustard sauce. Delish. GF got the she crab soup. Not my taste but still good. She loves it. She also got the yellow fin tuna tacos. Amazing. I am having the Shepards pie. My first time ever having this so judgement my be off, but it is very tasty. I recommend. Happy eats.
