Muninn's Post - Restaurant in Kelowna, Canada
I hope this place made it through the pandemic and if not please make a go fund me for a new location. I will gladly contribute. Always such a friendly atmosphere great beers on tap and excellent drinks great food. Will definetly miss this place.
First time going, food was really bad.Ordered the Jarl Borger, and it was very over cooked, meat was burnt, seemed like they just threw coleslaw onto the burger rather than lettuce, and it tasted like the lettuce was unwashed, as there was a dirt taste to it.The mushroom and onion soup, tasted like the onions had gone bad, and I couldnt even see the mushrooms. The calamari was good, but too small compared to the price. The beer was pretty good, and the board games were fun, though the table was wobbly, the bathroom doesnt have a mirror, there was a kid on a tricycle running around, and the lighting makes it very hard to see anything while playing a game. Two pieces of wood came off of the bench seat while we were sitting on it. Decor was okay, though Id like to see more recent posters of events I can go to that are coming up, rather than previous ones.Bathrooms are disgusting.Really fits the Medival theme.
Its what you want. Its friendly, counter culture (ish?), they play zero top 40, have a great selection of games, and Ill let you know how the food is when I eat it.Kelowna has needed a place like this for decades and the owners finally made it work. One of the few places in town that will receive regular return business from me.
Great venue to play at! Solid selection of craft beer and a very friendly staff. Always nice to see places with their own unique identity and atmosphere.
Best brunch ever from an off the beaten path menu.Cool live metal music and comedy venues. Set in a Viking style atmosphere family run with tons of board games. If youre looking for something different this is the place.
Great atmosphere and a good selection of games. The food and drinks were delicious, but incredibly expensive for the portions you get. For example, nachos were $10, but you get a small, one layer of nachos not even an inch off the plate, and salsa and sour cream cost extra. Ive been now twice, and the customer service is very lacking. The second time I was there my table was completely ignored after our initial order. I wouldve happily kept buying appies and drinks, but we were only served after getting up to track down the owners everytime we wanted something. I really do like this place, and Id like to change my review to a more positive one if they can fix their service and review their price to food ratio.
Viking Inspired pub for board game, role playing, and concert enthusiasts. Ive seen some great metal shows here, played some great D&D here, and eaten some.great food here, oh and the beers are good too. Highly recommend their brunch! Honestly, Munins probably has the MOST underated brunch in all of Kelowna. Go get some eggs Benny or the hash. You will thank me one day if you ever meet me in person.
Muninns post is great. They have good food, if you like heat get the Ragnarok wings. Awesome fries. Good selection of beers on tap. They have a wall of board games to play. Ive been there to see two live shows and the acoustics are surprisingly good. (I recommend ear plugs to take the edge off). Took my son here for his first live show all ages and the staff were courteous and friendly to him too. Try it out its a good place. They list their live shows on the website.
Pretty awesome hole in the wall pub. Board games, D&D sessions, heavy metal or comedy nights are all the mix at this place. Food is top notch as well. Great selection of beers on tap. A unique place for unique people.
Pop in here at least once a week to play board games with friends.Great food, friendly service, board games and fun! Try the apple crisp, the mushroom and leek pie and the mead drinks. I really enjoy the atmosphere in here. Good place for groups as well.Love this place. Great food and great service. The owners are very welcoming and remembered my drink order by my third visit.
One of my favorites. Good food. Great drinks and a awesome atmosphere. Very chill. Board Games if you want to play them. Good spot to catch up with some friends, have bite and a brew.If you are looking for an obnoxious place to stare at the opposite sex and get wasted. Wrong place. Keep moving. If you want a great spot with a chill vibe with good food and drink. The right spot.I recommend it.
Ive been coming here for the past few years. I come back because its a place unique to itself. The service is friendly, the food is great, and the atmosphere is great. Lots of events in the evenings, a great place you can come and hang out and still actually have a conversation. If youre like me and want to go somewhere where you can relax, have a nice drink and enjoy every minute, I highly recommend you visit
Went to metal night here a while back to see a few buddies play, had an awesome time. Great location with a restaurant in the back. Beer was cheap and delicious. I got an order of edamame beans and to my surprise they were in a sauce which was sweet, spicy and super good. Was a pleasant surprise for sure. The rest of the menu also looked awesome.Staff were friendly as well, I will be coming back in the future for sure.
Extremely chill vibe. Definitely a place you can do to to just hang with your friends and enjoy a couple beers.Additionally, Jazz night happens every second Friday of the month which is always a good time.Excellent beers always on tap always.
Always a great place to hang, drink and eat and of course see and hear great local and out of town Bands. So glad theres somewhere in town that supports the heavier Music scene. Always feel welcome and get great service. Cheers
Fresh and fun feeling to it loves the board games everywhere are amazing, and fun brings out a kid in you and also allowing you to have a beer while you do it a perfect combo. Their food is super underrated with them, and the best points for that and cocktails are a great flavour.
The fact you can eat. Drink. And play board games here. Fantastic! And they host unique events as well!
The food is spectacular, with a regular menu full of favorites and a seasonal menu with creative and unique treats. The decor is themed, but still casual and homey. Having board games is a nice touch, as well as the many events the venue hosts. From metal mondays to drag shows; Muninns has it all!
Great venue with awesome staff. Follow them on Facebook to check out the wide range of events going on here. Including live music, movies, comedy and so much more! Or just stop in and try their awesome and unique menu while playing one of 100s of board games. Great beer selection too! Downtown Kelownas best hang out! Amazing owners that support the arts as well.
Have only been here a couple times for shows and the odd movie night but every time I go the environment is so friendly and welcoming and its definitely one of a kind in Kelowna.I havent had a chance to try to food yet, but the drinks are great and I cant wait to round up some friends and have the opportunity to.
Munnins is like an anti-hipster version of Fernandos. Its where all the metal shows are happening in Kelowna these days and it hosts a large variety of alternative events. Theyre more of a community-focused pub than others. They have low-key social events like board game nights, stand-up, jam nights, etc.The space is pretty small, the seating isnt particularly comfortable, and the stages are kind of obscured by pillars for sit-down shows... But this place is perfect for an intimate live music act.The food menu is a bit strange, but its creative and suits the Viking theme. For Valhalla!!!
Come here for the boardgames and the decor, but definitely not the food, and not if you want cheap drinks.Every time Im here the food has been low quality and/or poorly prepared. A friend ordered the mushroom and leek pie, but they were out of the pie crust so the server just brought him a bowl of the filling but didnt say anything. Another friend described the mac and cheese as "not cheesy at all".They have a decent rotating beer menu and regular cocktails, but they dont have tequila.I havent been to an event lately, but the comedy night I went to a while back was ridiculous. The amateur comics were making fun of the people playing boardgames, seemingly unaware of the venue they were performing in. I assume it has gotten better since then. For a nice evening at Muninns I would suggest having dinner and drinks somewhere else beforehand, then coming here for boardgames and maybe one or two extra drinks.
Nice casual place to play some board games and have a bite to eat and a drink. Lots of good tables and a good selection of games. Unfortunately they didnt have mead when I went, but that was an issue with the supplier, not Muninns Post. Will be going back again soon!
Everytime Ive went here Ive had a more than amazing time. If I could rate it 6 stars I would, but Im afraid i cant. There is great food, great people, great bands, and great moshpitsm/. Highly recommended if you want a good bite to eat, see a great band, or just have a good time and meet some new friends
We have been hosting metal melee Mondays(a video game tournamentat Munnis for the past few weeks. The staff have all been really kind and accommodating. The beers on tap are really excellent and so is the food! I would recommend munnins to anyone interested in a good time :)
Home away from home. Very cozy and welcoming. Lots of board games. Everyone is welcome to come and be who they are. Its our little haven from the rest of the world.Great food, huge selection of beers, fantastic music including Metal Monday and metal bands playing live quite often.Come join the fun!
One of our favourite places in Kelowna. Great beer list. Best weekend brunch in town. I love the apple crisp. Everything is home cooked and delicious. Not your average bar food.
I am really hoping it was just an off night for the staff. First time at Muninns Post and not sure if I will be going back. Early afternoon service okay but not great. Really polite but there was an edge to the way they spoke with you. Afternoon food pretty good, nothing to write home about. Noise level higher than a regular pub with more aggressive music selection, making it difficult to have a conversation. Lighting reasonable for a pub but really poor for a place to play games. Evening the venue filled up and the service level picked up but unfortunately so did the level of the music. Evening did was very good, really enjoyed it. But here is the pièce de résistance the part that really makes this venue memorable but in this case not is a good way: closing time is at midnight and you better the hell be out the door before then or they leave you in the dark... literally. Timeline as follows - 11:45 pm asked to pay as closing is coming soon (totally understand). 11:58 pm told that they are closing up... reply just wrapping up a game in 2 minutes and then clean up. Told "lights will be going out and you will have to show yourself out"...(I have worked pubs, bars and restaurants and yes you say this but you NEVER do it... You give people time to clear out). 12:02 am DARKNESS...LIGHTS ARE OUT. 😠 Are you kidding me? This is a $100+ game with lots of little parts to be put away and we are trying to clean up. We have not choice but to use our cellphone flashlights to see and finish cleaning up the game...oh and to try and leave. Sure there is lights illuminating the ceilings, the bar and the menu but you cannot see your feet for nothing. If one of us trips and falls this week but be good. 12:10 am at my car and pissed. Decide to wait until morning to post a review to see if I feel better...NOPE...I am pissed. That was so disrespectful and dangerous. 🤬
Really awesome place. There is tons of boardgames that youre free to use and the style of the whole place is so cool. Food was amazing. Cant wait to come back for my birthday, Im inspired!
I personally love this place for its good comfort food and atmosphere. The people that work there are funny and really nice. This is a place for gamers, nerdies, metal heads, vikings, and the easy going. I have seen the odd preppy friend go there and still have a great time. I hope they never change their fries and they should organize their games onto a wall shelf in alphabetical order.
Absolutely amazing! The atmosphere is heartwarming and the food is to die for! Plus you can play settlers of catan while eating, like thats the dream date right there
Great eats, I can hardly wait Togo back and try some more food!
Best fried pickles in town and they have perfected the chipotle burger. The service was great and food was fast and a good beer selection. Cool atmosphere. Dont expect a typical kelowna pub, its way more relaxed feeling.I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to socialize with their friends and have a bite or a drink.
Had some great times there this year on several occasions. The staff is friendly, the game selection is good, but the food is hit and miss. Over the course of my visits, Ive had a pork belly sandwich that was overdone and tough to eat, a steak pie that might have been frozen but tasted ok if not a little bland, and a burger that was very very good.Ill be back, simple on account of the board games and staff, but I do hope the food is just a result of them developing and will improve with time. Though, Im ordering the burger again for sure.Lastly, local mead? Heck yes.
Awesome place! We went for lunch it was Family friendly, very casual. Food was delicious! They have board games too which is cool. Highly recommend everyone checks them out!
Really good food and prices and hummus dish is the best and drinks are unique and awesome. Really good decor and games and fun. Also lots of shows and comedy nights that were funny and actually good humor that wasnt racist and sexist.
My favourite place in Kelowna hands down. Fantastic food. Good drinks. Great pricing. Do you like metal? Comedy shows? Playing board games? Theres a wide variety of kick-ass entertainment at Muninns and you should drop by anytime youre wondering what to do in downtown Kelowna.
Very comfortable place. No blaring music or distracting TVs. A real atmosphere. Awesome food! Board games are a great idea. Not your status quo pub.
This bar is fantastic! Not only are the staff engaged, but just a myriad of wonderful things: charming, friendly, kind, entertaining, I could go on. All of the servers have distinct personalities, which mesh very well. The atmosphere is phenomenal. The food is almost always excellent, the owners also obviously put a lot of time and effort into their menu and the upkeep of Muninns. I have sung its glorious praises since the first day Ive been there, and it is still my favourite bar in Kelowna by far.
This is a cool spot - delicious fare and big steins of beer, suitable for Vikings and modern folk as well. There is a massive array of board games, live music a couple nights a week, and the staff are great.
Great place, both the staff and the food is great. Food is a bit pricy but its delicious. The key thing here is the atmosphere, its a viking nerd tavern so if youre rocking Ed Hardy and think dice only have 6 sides its not the place for you.
Stopped in on a whim for comedy night in Tuesday. The show was decently funny and it was overall a worthwhile visit. Beers are reasonably priced with something on tap for everyone. Didnt play any board games but theyve got a large collection available.
Just a fun place to hang out. Plenty of games available to play, nice ambience, right near some solid parking, menus pretty solid too, with some of the brews in particular being very unique. Definitely try the Jarl Burger.
One of my favourite places to go in Kelowna! The food is delicious, the drinks are quality (they even have mead), the atmosphere is perfect, and the folks are friendly.I particularly enjoy the fact that the place is well-lit and the music isnt played to loud, meaning that you can actually see and hear your companions during an evening out. They also have scores and scores of games for you to play, and Ive even seen groups of strangers join together to play. They do sometimes have shows (Tuesday night comedy and periodic metal bands), so if thats not your jam, then just call ahead (or check their websiteto see whats going on.
One of my favorite places to grab food and visit with friends in the down town area. They have a literal tonne of board games in the back corner, and the ambient music is always from my favorite bands! The food is, of course, delicious and inspired by traditional foods around the world. Their summer menu features some tasty additions like an open-face salmon and egg sandwich and berry bread pudding.
Oh, if you are wondering if this is a good place to park yourself for a beer and some food, or some delicious Game-On with your friends... then I suppose these reviews are pointing you in the right place. You are not being deceived: this is /so much/ my favourite place to go I feel like it might have become my minds perceived *only* place to go. Nice job Munnins - youve got me hooked! :++service +++food/bevvies
Love the atmosphere and people here. Great selection of board games and the music is awesome too. They even have themes for certain days of the week and play movies and popular TV shows like Vikings and Game of Thrones when they air live. Prices are fantastic and the drinks selection is very unique!
I had heard about this place and now I regret taking so long to visit as it has everything I enjoy in one spot. There is good music, but its in the background so you can talk. Theres great atmosphere, but all the tables are well lit so you can see. As a boardgamer there is a huge selection of games to just grab and play (which I didnt have a chance to look at too closely this visitand with the lighting and music the way it is it lets you play a game without distraction. The staff is great, fun, and truly seem to enjoy what they do. There was great dark beers on tap, and the menu looked interesting. Ill definitely be visiting here again.Current me wishes this place existed way back when I was 20.
The food is excellent, very warming, and A nice spin on the classic cuisines. The environment is welcoming and friendly. Ive been numerous times and have never had poor service. The staff are great and the vibe of the place pays homage to the Viking culture very well.
Love this place! Great atmosphere, an enormous selection of board games, late hours, and tasty food. The prices for the food and drinks are really reasonable too. Definitely one of my favourite hang out spots around town!
