Carretera a Cotoca, Km 8 1/2, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, San Carlos
Sizable place with ecological trails amid a variety of flora & fauna, plus a lagoon & camping areas.
Good
A botanical garden of a different kind. A bit wild but original. Make sure to bring insect repellent even in dry season. Entrance is 10 BOB, kids are for free. Uber is a good choice to get there. No wifi for the way back... Recommended.
5 star because-price is only 10 bs-many buses that bring you directly front door 2 bs each eay-mini zoo( lovely birds, turtles, crocodiles, etc...)-Garden is so so but you can get a private guide from personal for free or tip)-map of the placedisadvantage: those damn musquitos destroyed me & no food but you can pay 20 bs and use their bbq facilities
Fantastic place to spend a few hours! Cheap entrance, 10 BOBs per person, which gives you unfettered access to a large variety of flora and fauna. This isnt a zoo or refuage. There are no cages and after a few minutes on the path you feel like youre in the wild.On our visit we heard the howls of the howler monkey and went off path to see them in the trees. We also saw another smaller monkey family next to the foot path. In addition, there was a giant collection of cacti and bonsai trees. In the pond we turtles and crocodiles. As we came back to the parking lot we saw a large group of parrots flying from tree to tree. Truly marvelous and great experience.
El Jardín Botánico de Santa Cruz, is a big lovely and very cheap place to go for a whole day with your family and friends. Specially if you like plants. Entry was only £1 pp. you can also take your food and drinks there as they don’t have a restaurant working at the moment. There was a bendy machine thou. You can ask for the bbq area and take tents ⛺️ and do camping. Be aware of the mosquitos 🦟 🌱
Landscapes are wonderful. Great choice for a relaxed walk. Grills available for a barbecue. Affordable tickets.
Super
Great
I went on a Monday when they were supposed to be closed but they were open and there were other people there also, but not many. This is a great place to explore the local flora and fauna. I saw monkeys, turtles, even alligators! I also saw some big lizards but they like to hide from people and are difficult to see. I enjoyed a few hours here exploring the trails. It was hot and sunny and so I didnt need bug repellant, but I did need a LOT of sunblock, so if you go on a hot sunny day, ditch the repellent and slather on the sunblock. Unfortunately, a huge part of the park is closed due to "maintenance" and youre not permitted to enter, though theres also nothing to stop you. I erred on the side of caution however and didnt venture past the posted sign (see photos). Theres a tall lookout tower you can climb that offers some views of the surrounding area. There are also some activities for kids. Overall, it was a nice place to pass a few hours. Its quite far from the center of Santa Cruz - $6 - $7 by Uber each way. Entry was $10Bs. I wish the rest of the park was open, but Im happy I went. I think its worth checking out if you have some time to spend in Santa Cruz.
Beautiful Place with a vide variety of plants and wildlife in general. It is really worth it to take a long stroll in there since there is just so much wildlife to discover once you just start looking around you. I hope that they will be able to better their upkeep but taking the huge space in mind they are doing ok.
Beautiful place
Far too many mosquitoes, not able to stop, sit or lie on the grass due to mosquitoes. We did not complete the whole walk due to the same reason. Just got to the "mirador"
Beautiful, but way too many insects. The bugs bit me through my clothes.
Great Place
Super!
Bellisimo
Great outdoors activity. Bring your bike to enjoy more.
Amazing !! A lot of wildlife including 3 toed Sloths, Caimans, Monkeys and more. This is a huge area and if you really want to see the areas wildlife its a good idea to hire local guides. Contact Nicks Adventures Bolivia and they can arrange wildlife watching trips here to look for Sloths, Monkeys, Toucans and more. Its very important to bring water, repellent as well. As this area is over 100 hectares its easy to get lost in the forested area as well.
Nice place – we visited the garden during our stay in Santa Cruz – it is just a short ride with a cab to get there. Entrance fee is very little. We spotted some sloths there – really cute. Overall it is a nice walk in the nature. We also saw some crocodiles. Make sure you bring mosquito spray because there were lots of them.
Ok
It was such a nice green space in Santa Cruz. It was well-maintained, clean, and beautiful. Very relaxing! We even saw monkeys, turtles, fish, and birds. Its one of the best places in SCZ.
Beautiful indeed, the jogging routes where flooded, that was a draw back and there were no signs on which route to take for which distance, but oh well, cant have it all.The artificial cascade is just beautiful, along with the huge flocks of white birds in the trees on the side of the lake.I love it, but ... feed that cat, please, will you.
Nice enough place, but it is quite wild and rough, so family trips must be well planed, especially uf you are bringing young kids. A LOT OF MOSQUITOS, so bring light long sleeve and trousers.
One of the most beautiful places in Santa Cruz, you can feel mothers nature in there
Worth a visit but much room for improvement. One of the trails ended in the middle of the woods and the thematic woods were closed for maintenance. On my strolls I encountered quite a lot of plastic bags, bottles and packaging material, not to mention the toilet paper and napkins.
Took the local bus (2BOB, takes 40-50 minutes, look out for Cotoca on the front of the bus from any of the buses going aroundto the park after reading all the great reviews.I enjoyed my visit and was able to see a couple of Caimans in the lake shortly after arriving. I also had a great ice cream and a good time relaxing in the recreational area. But unfortunately I didnt really know where I could go in the park. Some areas seemed to be closed off and the forest path got wild quite quickly and not seeing anyone else on the paths I decided to chicken out. I felt like I couldve gotten lost fairly easily.I wouldve liked to have seen a staff member somewhere for help in this and also maybe a tip on how to spot a sloth (although Im sure its just lucky if you spot onebut the only staff member I met was the one at the front gate for my ticket and who will give you a map if you ask. So either a few more signs for guidance or a member of staff somewhere to give you some info on the place would be useful. That said, Id still recommend it as a trip out of the city.
I loved this place , because it have a lot vegetation its a quiet and beautiful place. There you can spend time with anyone and have an accesible cost.
Good place
Nice relaxing place!
Nice site
Dear owner,I read your reply. I am sad to hear your own public is doing this to your park. Thats not right . I didnt see one. Perhaps put in a donation box? Maybe security? Not kept well, Has alot of potential.Huge place. Some of the employees not very friendly. Bathrooms dirty. Some unsavory characters hanging in the womens bathroom.
If you want to go birding near Santa Cruz de la Sierra. This is one of the best sites.
Nice garden, but little to no indications. I didnt spot any sloths :(
Nice large garden area, where you can see lots of plants, fish, caimán, and turtles.
In February there are several colourful plants in this small garden but I was surprised there were not more varieties with better labelling. The orchid house was probably the highlight and the cacti were interesting too. The big forest section was nothing much. The Curators need to visit Kew Gardens in London for some inspiration.
Great to visit with your family on a Sunday! Dont forget to bring with you the repellent and also comfortable shoes so you can walk in the tropical route to see the jungle from within. Also the st forest and the palm son are great and they need to be visited. The bonsai is also great but if you have children better get there another day to really enjoy it. If you plan to go for a deep typical first walk do with trousers and extra repellent to enjoy better.
Beautiful place to be! You can go in the morning and stay the complete day. There are many activities inside, an open park for children and dogs and also for hicking in a tropical route that is around 4 km. Dont forget to bring the insect repellent just to be comfortable and also a camera.
Santa Cruz is a big city with big city restaurants and stores.
Green!! 😍
Bring mosquito repellent!
Beautiful surroundings 👌🏻👌🏻
It has a lot of vegetation and its so cheap to in. Its a good place to hang out with the family on a weekend.
Full of tourists on the weekends. Easily accessible by car. Good for families.A mini experience of the Bolivian wildlife.
Nice landscape
Nice palce to visit
Lovely place for a nice walk
Mudfest. Huge puddles on the paths that stopped us from venturing too far. The Mirador tower just lets you look over a sea of trees, nothing spectacular. Not much in terms of botanical in the garden. Saw a huge turtle though.
Nice Place. The only problem is it distance
A beautiful place to share with nature and have a long stroll.
it is a nice and huge place to walk or have some fresh air. Only there are too many mosquitoes.
