Just a reminisce of British era. All administrative offices has been shifted inside this. The tunnels has been closed a long ago. Nice place to visit Bank of Ganga river.
Ecologically clean and peaceful. Almost all the government offices are here such as DM office, SP office, court, collectorate treasury office, etc. In the fort area, there is a large polo ground. It is the ground where many great events are programmed, such as religious katha, tournaments, parade, Independence Day, etc. In Munger, it is a place where one can feel good.
Good place . Many Historical sites but no one is taking good care of it properly.
Munger fort is built on a rocky hillock on the south bank of the Ganges River. Its history is not completely dated but it is believed that it was built during the early rule of Slave dynasty of India. The Munger town where the fort is situated was under the control of Muhammad bin Tughluq of Delhi (1325-1351 CE). The fort has two prominent hills called the Karnachaura or Karanchaura, and the other a built up rectangular mound deduced to be the location of a citadel of the fort with historical links.[1] The Fort had a succession of Muslim rulers (Khaljis, Tughlaqs, Lodis, Nawabs of Bengal, followed by Mughal rulers, till it was finally acceded to the British by Mir Quasim (1760–72), after unseating his father-in-aw Mīr Jafar on the grounds of old age, for a monetary reward negotiated by Vansittart. This deal involved payment by the East India Companys merchants of an ad valorem duty of 9 percent, against an Indian merchant’s duty of 40%. The fort became a place of considerable importance to the British in Bengal till 1947 (Indian independence).

Fort constructed by Mir Kasim, surrounded by river ganga, nice place to visit. But district municipality need to take care of these places and need to develop this place as tourist destinations. Too many things to explore as tourist.
It a place that holds great history with it especially from british era, although there is nothing much left in the fort but it is a place to visit. The world famous Bihar School of Yoga is situated here.

In recent times, a famous School of Yoga was established here. The Forts history has been traced from 1330 AD onwards, under the rule of Muhammad bin Tughluq of Delhi. But its ancient history, as a town, mostly ruled by Hindu kings, is initially traced from a stone inscription to Chandra Gupta Maurya (4th century BC), (after whom it was initially called Gupta Garhisand later dated to the kingdom of Anga, the capital of which was at Champa near Bhagalpur, and the Pala kings in the 9th century AD.Pir Shah Nufa, originally of Persin origin, was a Sufi saint who was sent to Munger by his guru Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti of Ajmer. His tomb dating his death to A.H. 596 (1177 ADis located near a rampart in the fort close to the southern gate. It was built over an area of 100 feet (30 msquare with retaining walls supporting all round, on a 25 feet (7.6 mhigh heap of earth (conjectured to be ruins of former Hindu or Buddhist structure). The carved stones of these ancient temples were pitted by holes and depressions, with the belief that such disfiguring would cure certain diseases of children. The domed tomb chamber, 16 feet (4.9 msquare with circular turrets, also encloses a prayer room and a restroom. Some ruins of ancient Hindu temples are also seen in the vicinity of this tomb.
My birth place & my one of the most favourite place of Bihar is munger.... I love it & you must visit here to see their beautiful places & views❣️💯❤️
As per modern days, there are many sources from where we can get the details of almost all places. But here just trying to share my personal view about this fort. This fort is really awesome, its near to munger Market. This Fort will give the same representation as shown in movies for other old historical Fort. This Fort is bounded by large gate with large wall, structure like wall of China.Must visit this place to see the beautiness of Fort. 😊
Clean, improvement seen on restoration of fort, river banks ,roads, zoo , park and Mir Kasim tomb. Also houses famed Bihar school of Yoga.
Good place for timepass.
Munger fort is a lovely heritage place to visit especially in the morning. The entire place is very clean and calm. The best thing is the river ganga flowing nearby the fort area. I am totally in love with this place. But due to the negligence of the government, the fort is loosing its beauty as it requires maintenance.
Even after such a long period of 250 years and facing lot of destruction after the Ousting of Mir Kasim, the Fort reminds you of its glory of yesteryears.Nice Architecture.
The most important of the monuments at Munger is the ancient fort, built on a rocky eminence projecting into the river Ganges that protects it from west and partly from the north, the other side’s being defended by a deep moat. The rampart was provided with four gateways, one on each side, and with circular or octagonal bastions, at regular intervals, carrying the usual battlements. of the gates only the northern gate, called Lal Darwaza, is somewhat preserved, with some carved stones built into it, which originally belonged to some Hindu or Buddhist structure.
It is great place to go.“The Heaven of the munger, famous for its ancient royal presence.”History of Munger has definetly defined the ancient royal presence.peolle says that in dwapar yuga or in medieval age it is known as anga mha janpad.“Great Place”
It is good place but it is not meant for tourist purpose but its important for historians because tehre are so many history incidents taken place like mirqasim have fled away from British, its not that much interesting.
Nicest part of Munger. Lovely fort lakes, world famous yoga school. The administration has really worked to clean up the Ganges and the fort area. This is happening for the first time since 2001.
It’s located one corner of market you wont see the fort properly just the opening of Fort and other end will be somewhere else for which you have to inside nothing to see here
An alluring sunrise over the river Ganges, chirping of birds, sound of water and an island in between – definitely the fantasy thing. The sky meeting the river and the white theme breakfast waiting for us on an island. We ate and sat there, hand in hand, staring at the mesmerizing view, not wanting to relinquish for the morning. Such was our tryst in Munger, Bihar.
