Still open, really interesting

Got 2 areas where fallen trees almost blocked the passage to the lighthouse, but you may need to crawl underneath them & get dirty from the wet ground. Taman Negara Penang should do better.

Challenging trail from Monkey Beach to the Lighthouse, but worth it!

very nice trail from Monkey Beach, in fact, the trail is much better and more enjoyable than Monkey Beach. Views atop the lighthouse is refreshing and vast landscape of Penang and Strait of Malacca. I believe to spot an eagle soaring the sky. Pleasant hike.

Its a long way to reach the light house from the entrance of the Penang National Park,.... However the satisfaction of getting the magnificent view from the top of this more than a century old light house was just unbelievable,.... its a relatively easy trail if compare to Teluk Kampi with less slope and clear path except a few spots blocked by collapsed tree trunk and broken wooden bridge,... the beautiful Monkey Beach is a nice place to chill, relax and go for water activities,..

Refreshing 1.2km walk to this historical light house, built in 1883.

Breath taking and a wonderful place to relax. Coming here requires endurance of climbing stair case. A good place to just unwind and photo taking as well as bird watching.

This is an energetic climb up from Monkey Beach, but the path is good and hard surfaced. As previous reviewer stated will take 35 to 45 minutes. Good views from Lighthouse at the top which is open and can climb stairs to outside platform. Word of warning though the monkeys here are VERY AGGRESSIVE. I couldnt believe when I came to exit the lighthouse, a large adult male was in the doorway blocking my path. When I approached he bared his teeth. I was again confronted by aggressive monkeys on way down, not afraid of me at all with the large male charging me. Take a stick with you as a precaution.

Nice view from top, Free entrance, take water (snacks, comfortable shoes preferred. (Be aware of monkeysRoute 1,2KM length so it may be challenging for some people, but the are places to sit and relax, takes about 30min +- to reach top

Morning view is awesomeBut it says opens at 9am...

When you do the walk from Monkey Beach, it will take 35-45 minutes. When you arrive at the light house, you can go up and have a lovely view. I was there after 15h, so it was closed already. But the handle was easy to open, so I just opened it and went to the top!

Decent hike to get to the place, it took us almost an hour of slightly steep stairs to get to the place, the view is nice up there, if you go before 3 pm they allow you to go to the top of the lighthouse which is nice.

Sense of accomplishment after 30-40 minutes climb from Monkey Beach. Great view from the northern tip of Penang Island. Greenery in the South, Peninsular in the East and breathtaking sea in the West

You can go to the top of lighthouse as it is open for visit, the view is astonishing.

Very beautiful place. Hike from monkey beach took us 45 minutes to the lighthouse. The view is breathtaking.

It was okey. Not as mindblowing as it could be. The reson we whent there was cuse we were so dissepointed in Monkey beach so we whent for a walk to the lighthouse instead

Its quite a hike to the lighthouse from Monkey Beach (about 1233 metersbut it shouldnt be too much of a problem for most. The lighthouse itself is quite small but you are allowed to climb up to the top. The view from up there is really something but do be careful of monkeys loitering in the area.

If youre already there at Monkey Beach, have energy and time to spare and loves hiking then might as well hike up and do it. Cross it off from your check list of things to do in Penang. Its about 1 - 1.5km hike up. Around 30mins ++. Going down around 20mins. Dont be surprised if youre the only one on the whole trail, yes, can hardly see any people except surrounded by just yourself and nature but its perfectly safe.

Worth the hike from Monkey Beach. Beautiful at the top - can see Langkawi on a clear day. Do visit if time and stamina permits (takes about 40min to go up - not very difficult).

Great trekking, normal trekkers would take 45mins or so going up. Did it within 25mins up and 20mins down. Bring extra water bottle and a small towel to wipe those dripping sweat.

The best place to relex..but be careful with your stuff ...ada monyet ye...at least sila bwk air and food extra for the monkey so that he will not kacau you...my water bottle kena curi sbb the monkey is thristy kot...time balik i saw my water bottle kat gate...so nak marah sgt kat monyet pun tak leh...jd kesian la plak😅

It’s a 40 minute trek up to the top. It’s not an easy walk. Views are nice! Closing times don’t seem to be strictly adhered as we submitted at around 4:15pm. Past the closing time of 3pm.

Good place for grouper

Worth the trek of 1 hour to reach the Light house ! The trek passes through the lush green Penang national forest and its really a rain forest !! Dont expect any view till u reach to the top of the light house.The 360 degree view from the light house is splendid. During the trek you all notice that very less trekkers on both up/down the trail.The working hour is from 9am-3pm.There are No entry fee to the light house. Dont forget to fill the visitor diary there. During the trek you ll encounter many monkeys or herd of monkeys..Please do visit my photos.. they all tell u what all sight will be encounter as well as what to look where..Enjoy your trek !! Just dont think go for it.......

Im always looking for tracking trails whenever i go for a trip. The Muka lighthouse has got one of the best trails Ive completed so far. The top is amazing site with a beautiful 360° view. The best time is to start Your trail in the morning and spend your day on the top and dont forget to take water bottles with You and keep the sight clean.

I went 3 times up there, its exhausting but worthy. Better not leave after 13h30 from Monkey Beach as the place is closing by 15h sharp. Is 1.2 km of broken concrete stairs but is resting places (bunches with rain roof protectionall along the way. The whole thing is open to the public and free. You can go up to the top inside the Light House and also outside on the circular balcony from where you got stunning 360° view over the Andaman Sea and Turtle Beach and Teluk Bahang and Batu Ferringhi in the backgrounds. You have to sign the visitor book same as the main gate of the National Park and also have to leave your shoes downstairs.

love the trails..short yet enduring..every hiking will felt rewarded once reach the top injury free! the light house itself not properly preserve. main door to the staircase can show u what i mean. just the trail that excite us and the pretty big pile of garbage at the start of the trail is a turn off big time..showing what kind of community we live in..1 Malaysia!

Beautiful views from the top of a publicly-accessible old lighthouse.However, if youre around in the middle of the day when its the hottest it can prove to be an exhausting little hike, as youre climbing up a pretty steep hill!

Nice place for trekking on hill and after reached light house the view from top of the hill very nice. Must visit place in peneng

Thousand of stairs but worth the view

Quite a steep hike but the views are well worth it..

30-45 minutes of steps uphill about 200m shaded, a challenge if you decide not to take rest on the baking hot Monkey Beach. But up there, the breeze is cool and the 270 seaview is even cooler. Nothing much about the lighthouse itself; should have more storytelling.

Pleasant to be up there to enjoy the breeze, we were there on a weekday morning and we were the only guest.

The lighthouse is cool. Monkey beach is gross.. but you might as well hike out there have a look for yourself, see what disrespectful tourists and uncaring locals look like. And climb up the lighthouse well your there. It really is a nice view and there was a good breeze when I was there.

Great views from the top. Very large amount of vertical climb distance from Monkey Beach. MANY, MANY stairs. Some of them are very high, and all irregular. Difficult climb if you are not in shape!

You can go up to the top of the lighthouse just by walking up. The views from the top are breathtaking!
