My Indonesian friends know that Surabaya is my favorite Indonesian city.One of the reasons is Surabaya has fascinating history, from ancient time Majapahit to contemporary Indonesia’s kota pahlawan, Surabaya is so attractive, is worth being discovered.In Surabaya, an individual can always find buildings with an interesting story behind.I visited this mosque on 10/Feb/2020, when it was the first day I came to Surabaya.The mosque is well-maintained, there’s something in memory of Cheng Hoo (郑和and his voyage to Southeast Asia.Cheng Hoo’s surname is Ma (马), being derived from Muhammad.The picture of the model ship below represents the largest sailing ship utilised by Cheng Hoo’s fleet, which is called “宝船” in Chinese.My mind always feels peaceful when I sit on the floor in a mosque.

This is just a great addition to Surabaya. Best mix of Chinese culture and the Arab ones. Really making it red with all the Chinese and Arabic writing.

Great historical Mosque with Chinese architecture. The Mosque is small but it has a huge area of basketball field in the front that can be used for pray. The site is a bit hidden, not located on the main road.

The masjid is located inside islamic Tionghoa community and school area. The masjid itself not so big, but theres basketball field in front of it..

Visited this mosque during our staycation in surabaya. Went there at 10 am during public holiday, not many people coming here. Some people came to take pictures of this mosque. Located in quiet area.

Interesting mosque to visit. It has been built with Chinese style architecture, thus looks like mosque you can find in China.

unique mosque located in Surabaya

I was surprised when finding this mosque in maps. I thought this mosque only located in Semarang. Because of my curiosity, I went to see hows this mosque in Surabaya. Then I found out that this one is smaller than one in Semarang. But the mosque is clean and comfortable. I spent some time to look around and take some pics here.

this mosque is so unique. it has a water fountain (a little bit dirty water fountain, with fishhh!! sad fish): near the women side and an unexpected basketball court!! when i came there, it was a quiet place. the sound of water fountain made me so comfortable to stay there a while. but sadly, parkirnya bayar:( well, idk if you come there by motorbike, but i came there with a car so i payed for it. but mostly, i like this place!

After first time here really attach to this mosque after that. Simpel yet beautiful. Obbey the covid protocol is a plus, but the parking area is cramped

The architecture of this mosque is incredible. I love the fact that its Chinese inspired. After prayer the local cat even stopped by to get a cuddle.

A beautiful mosque with Chinese design. Unfortunately, i didnt get in when i visit the mosque due to Aunt Irma visit, but even from the outside you can feel the tranquil and serene atmosphere. Its one of many symbolism of the diversity and acceptance in Indonesia, blending two different cultures is always a positive remark.

This is a place , that shown clearly we dont care about races and religions. Because we are one Indonesia, one as a nation.

Very small mosque but very pretty. Dont get misled by the entrance as it seems there is nothing there. Pass aside the newish looking wing and go inside. People were very nice and you can actually sit outside under the covered ceiling to hide from the heat.

This mosque is very unique. Muslim Chinese Community, they learn and share in Islamic ways. Nice to see the environment and surrounding. Many activities, not only for "religion activities" but also Sport Center, like Basket Ball Badminton.

Its very uniq mosque. It has different style and architecture. Not to big. There is a Pond beside also ship which shown journey cheng Hoo until reach Indonesia. Nice to spensa time here with friend and family

Its definitely a unique mosque to visit as the shape of the building is pretty unusual. It looks like a Chinese Buddhist temple. And there are also writings in Chinese. The mosque is pretty small, though. And it looks like its in the same area as a sports hall. Theres also a basketball court right in front of the mosque.

I was shocked when I went there at night, cause there are some people doing some exercise and playing basket in front of the mosque. So I only went to the side of the mosque. Perhaps I need to go there in the afternoon.

Like an ordinary mosque in Surabaya but with a slightly different atmosphere because of the building itself

Located in a residency area, easy park and easy to access. The architecture of the mosque is so beautiful and chinese influenced . The size is not so big , women area located at the right side of the mosque. There is a beautiful wall painting near by the womens entrance about cheng ho and his journey at the past. A must visit place in surabaya.

The masjid is not big at all. It was built by muslim chinese community thats called PITI. Cars have to be parked on roads surrounding masjid, but for motorcycle, large parking area is peovided. However, the place is clean and nice

Not as big as I imagined. But still, its unique and an iconic place you must visit. Cheng Ho Surabaya is good blend of Islam and Chinese tradition.

This mosque has unique characteristic. It was showed the acculturation between chinese and moslem. At friday this mosque is full of people who does the Jumatan praying. This mosque also for religious recreation for all people not only moslem. The regulation for recreation in this place is must covered the body with polite clothes, no wearing shorts and singlets. In this place, the official provides the rent of polite clothes.

Beautiful mosque with an unique architecture in oriental influence. The mosque a little bit small but there is a field if the mosque doesnt fit for the prayers. Cool historical architecture..Located approx 10 minutes from main city centre.Easily reached via Grab: no issue on mobility.I guess the authority should do something to enhance visitors experienced.Surely this place would become an awesome tourism spot.

Everything here were just perfect. It was easy to get there, the parking staff was helpful. The place is inside a neighborhood. The ambiance was calm and peaceful, even though its in the same area with public basketball and badminton courts.The mosque itself was astonishing with bright and bold colours. There was a relief pictured the major of Cheng Ho next to the mosque and a koi fish pond.

Cheng ho mosque is a symbol of multi culturalism in Indonesia, in inpict Chinese traditional architecture and Muslim buildings. although the mosque isnt that big but they have open field that can handle many people who want to pray

Its quite a small mosque with a basketball court right infront of it. The location is near the housing area, but its easy to find. The architecture is interesting it a culture fusion between Chinese, Arabisque, and Javanese.

Very small mosque but highly notable. Its architecture is very oriental style. Arabian or islamic influence is very subtle. The main mosque building is only 11x11 m, but the basketball court in front of it can be converted to accommodate very large crowd. Dont worry, it is roof covered. This arrangement make a very usable and efficient land usage.The small size is also making it difficult to spot this building from the street. Its location is deep inside a housing complex, taking some effort to visit if youre not familiar with the area. Dont worry, its reputation is making it easy to find if you ask people for direction.
