126 Church Bay Rd, Waiheke Island, Oneroa 1971, New Zealand, Auckland
Romantic winery restaurant & garden bistro offering high-end, modern cuisine & sweeping views.
Absolutely love this venue! I’ve been here for a number of different occasions and I’ll be here for many more. Whether it’s a wedding, a long lunch, or just a casual wine tasting before a leisurely weekend, Mudbrick’s where you go. The staff are always friendly and accomodating and I’ve always left having had a great time. A big shoutout to Oscar, who in this case was able to slide us in on late notice and made sure we left with an extensive knowledge of the Mudbrick wines via a great wine tasting. Enjoy!Hamish DorringtonKakapo Business Sales
Ordered the scallops ($33 for entreeand they were Luke warm and not even flavourful. For $11 per scallop youd hope better. Wasnt even checked on mid meal to see if we were enjoying our meals. Only reason for 2 stars was because of the view. Otherwise would be 1 star. Not impressed and wont be going again.
Twice utterly disappointed!Went for dinner last Saturday with my girlfriends and the experience was awful!I was really embarrassed as l was the one that suggested Mudbrick to celebrate a 50th birthday party..not to mention we travel all the way from Tauranga.Cold and uncooked dishes ,dirty cutlery, lack of service among many of the hiccups we have to put up with, but what really disappointed me was the wine tasting the day after..what a joke! There was a noisy function in the room next door, the same glass was used to taste each wine and when we asked if we could please have our glasses washed we got a very unfriendly response. My advice is DON’T go there, they are so many other good vineyards with professional and friendly people running them.
Went on the girls weekend and had a special dinner booked at Mudbrick. Unfortunately we had a few issues:Dirty cutleryA chair with wildling details which came undone destroyed one of the girls dressService was 4 out of 10It was too difficult to split the bill for MDA bit disappointing:(
This place speaks for itself. No reviews will do it justice. Some places you just need to experience for yourself. Make sure you make reservations. This place is one of a kind.
Great location and view, but the food was extremely over priced for what we got, along with the fact we didnt get what the menu described with one particular dish. The wine was very good. Service was below average. Staff were clearly busy, however can I suggest they smile and exude a little more warmth and friendliness when dealing with customers, and when they do smile "smilelike they mean it". All round, a very disappointing experience from previous visits. The toilets could do with some attention too. Not particularly clean and fresh.
Fabulous lunch yesterday, sitting beside the huge open windows, looking out over the sea and with Auckland in the distance. Food was amazing as always - perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Highlights for me were the scallop starter with asparagus, fennel, samphire and mustard seeds- melt in the mouth perfection - and the Jerusalem artichokes with kale side dish.
Staff at cellar door were pleasant and decent wines but foul-mannered woman front of house restaurant today let the place down. Incredibly rude when we were only enquiring about the possibility of sitting outside at the bistro.
Disappointing average meal for extremely high price. Portions very small and the three scallops for entrees were not tasty. All meals were cold.
Favourite winery of the day - the views and vibe are unbeatable, and the shoestring fries were probably the best weve ever had!
Finished our tour of the island here and had some drinks with the charcuterie board and fries, honestly some of the best fries ever? Very thin, crispy yet still soft within and the aioli was delish. Charcuterie was excellent as expected.Views are stunning, our favourite on the island. Can see the CBD from here in addition to all the island around.Cant wait to come back again in the future!
Devine from start to finish. Wine, food & service. Needless to say the location and views. All outstanding. Looking forward to the next visit. 👌
Fantastic experience, beautiful place, and attentive staff! My eye fillet melts in my mouth! Wines tasted divine, would love to wine and dine again!
Absolutely love visiting here. The service is great and the staff are friendly and helpful. We had a long lunch then sat by the fire while they set up for dinner. The wines are one of the best on the island. Highly recommend.
Fantastic service, spectacular views and superb wine. Perfect choice for a laid-back lunch.
Mudbrick has always been a consistent outstanding venue over the last 15 years Ive been there. The food was outstanding as always but the service was lacking a little compared to previous visits. Empty plates left on tables for 20 mins, long waits for drinks etc. Appreciative of the fact though its hard to find staff at the moment though. We were hoping for a menu with matching wines but unfortunately this wasnt an option.
This winery was recommended by a friend and my boyfriend and I went to for late lunch. It has awesome view, great food and nice drinks. Price is a bit high but experience is fantastic, good value for money. Just be careful when paying for taxi as they might take advantage of you being drunk and charge extra.
The most fabulous venue to capture the best views back across the Waitemata to Auckland. If youve got guests whove never been to Auckland to holiday before then this is a must do.
Lovely location with views across to the city. The service was excellent, our waitress was just delightful. The food was all excellent and we had a really nice Mudbrick Chardonnay with our lunch. Such a great place to enjoy great food and wine.
Lovely estate with beautiful views. Staff so friendly and accommodating which was a relief after the extremely rude reception we had up the road at the competitor. Food was mixed-oysters, focaccia and whipped mozzarella where great as was the macadamia cake. The Pinot gris was way too sweet but enjoyed the Chardonnays.
I dont really want to write this but...If you are thinking of booking a wedding here - dont.We booked and paid our deposit of $5,000 and then Covid happened. As we live in Australia, we obviously couldnt go ahead as we couldnt even get into the country. We tried postponing to the next year but restrictions kept rolling on.After years, life has moved on and we now have elderly relatives who cant travel overseas and decided to get our deposit back. But no, they refuse to issue a refund because we have been affected by covid and there are significant costs in the wedding planning process.Quite unbelievable given I am not here to compensate them for covid revenue lost and they did ABSOLUTELY ZERO planning work for us.Whilst the contract is indeed clear, this is extreme greed on their part and completely ridiculous given the unique circumstances of the pandemic. When we cant enter the country for over 2 years, surely that warrants a rethink of the status quo.Left a very bad taste and I am now putting out the word to avoid this as a venue at all costs.
I have never felt the need to review a restaurant before however our experience was extremely disappointing. Mudbrick was recommended to us by a friend and we were looking forward to the experience, however we ended up having pretty much no experience at all. Upon arrival the waitress did not seem very interested in us. After we had been seated for about 10 minutes, the same waitress (pink hairasked if we would like to order drinks and I enquired about non-alcoholic beverages. She showed me the menu then left. 25-30 minutes later no one had taken our drinks order let alone our food order, however they were extremely attentive to every other table including business groups. I attempted to signal a waitress however they were not interested. Several staff members then proceeded to set tables right in front of us whilst it was clear we still had menus and had not ordered anything. The restaurant was about 1/3 full at the time, and other diners were being attended to the whole time. I don’t expect staff to check In every 5 minutes, but it would be nice if someone was interested in taking my order. After 40 minutes with almost no service or interest, we decided to leave and I’m pretty sure they didn’t even notice us exiting. As I said previously I don’t leave reviews in general and feel conflicted about leaving a negative review however this was very disappointing. I would have given zero stars if I could as there was no experience and our time there was not enjoyable. I suggest they either put more staff on or train them in customer service. It felt very obvious that we had been profiled and they were not interested in engaging or serving us.
My wife and I did a wine tasting then had lunch, it was amazing, definitely recommended if you get the chance!
My daughter and I had a reservation for dinner upon a recommendation from a colleague. We caught the ferry and taxi to the restaurant with great expectations. Forty minutes after our arrival we were still waiting for an order to be taken. When I saw an adjacent table being prepared for a group and that we remained invisible that was enough. We cabbed back to the ferry terminal, caught the ferry back to Auckland and had a nice dinner elsewhere with courteous, friendly people who knew the food game. We have eaten all over the world in the past 4 decades including Michelin Starred restaurants and Chef’s Hatted restaurants. This was only the third time we have walked out of a restaurant for that same old dance. It’s a dubious accomplishment for that ‘restaurant’ as we are not hard to please. But don’t mistake pretension and rudeness for professional dining service. This place should be avoided if you’re looking for all diners to be treated equally and to have a meal irrespective of how lovely it may be put before you in a timely fashion. The taxi driver who drove us back to the ferry was mortified and did not charge for our fare. Meantime, these charlatans will attempt to bill me for a no show or some other frippery - a walk out? I invite them to do so as I’m happy to tie them up in litigation for months irrespective of whether I succeed or not on a matter of principle. Avoid this place if you expect professional dining service and equal treatment. Dr Robert James Hamilton.
Spectacular view. Mains (lunchwere great and we were particularly impressed by the sides - delicious, superb value for money, and great portion sizes. Plus incredible local wine selection!
My favorite winery in the Island. Do the wine tasting and enjoy the views with some great snacks on the patio.
My partner and I had the best experience dining for lunch this weekend at Mudbrick, the service was impeccable and end even though we had to move our booking from dinner to lunch, they offered us complimentary bubbles upon arrival to make up for it which was a nice surprise. Of course the food was phenomenal (hats off to the chef), highly recommend the octopus starter! Cant wait to return in summer!
Fantastic location, with super friendly staff. Seating is spread out allowing an intimate dining experience. We finished off our meal with dessert and drinks beside the open fire. We would highly recommend dining at Mudbrick Café.
Always great memories whenever we come to visit this place. A few family gatherings, old time friends meetups, lovely wine brunch, gorgeous scenery. This place holds a special place in our hearts. 💕
The views from Mudbrick Vineyard are spectacular!! Love all the different areas that you can sit in to enjoy them. The staff are all wonderful and we had a pleasant time there. The tastings were generous and the staff were fantastic at explaining the wines.
Beautiful place! We had a brunch here, the food was a bit on the higher end but delicious. Paired with the gorgeous view and beautiful grounds was definitely an experience. The service was also very good. The wines were lovely, wide range of selection for all different taste palates. We did the wine tasting as well, this was great as they explain everything to you and then allow you to take it out and discover and enjoy the scenery as you taste, you can take you time and go back whenever you’re ready for the next one! Would recommended a visit!
Customer service was perfection itself as of course was the location. The platters were extremely costly and most disappointing. Really very miserly and with lack of quantity and quality. I’m sure you can do better. Thanks though to your excellent staff.
Probably the nicest winery on Waiheke in terms of scenery. Their wine is also good however we arrived at 4pm on the explorer bus and some of the waitresses were trying to kick customers out. This happened to my parents, however if you go straight to the cellar door and order there they will serve you. They then had no option to serve us as half of our group already had drinks. This was also happening to other customers (I wonder if the owner knows). This somewhat soured our experience. I suggest if you dont want to serve customers wine after 4pm then you inform Fullers so they can remove your winery from the list of stops or put a sign at the entrance rather than having customers sit down and trying to remove them. The staff at the cellar door were friendly though.
What a fantastic venue and super friendly team at Mudbrick! I was invited to DJ over the weekend at two weddings and both times had a seamless visit and both wedding parties seemed to have an awesome time! Cheers team - hopefully see you again in the near future!
A group of friends (4 couplesdid a wine tasting but it was not what we expected based on what we have done in other wineries. The quantity was so small that we could barely taste the wines. Not worthy to be honest.I recommend going to other wineries in Waiheke instead of coming here.
We had our wedding Mudbrick last weekend and I can honestly say the venue and team are incredible. From start to finish you are getting a first class service. Communication with Becky, Kim and Dina was excellent from the beginning and they answered all our questions. They made changes when requested to make the day work for us. The team on the night were excellent, food served promptly and was both tasty and hot. The band got going right on schedule and we danced the night away. Thank you for everything, we loved our special day and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to other couples.
Beautiful location, but unfortunately not great service! My partner & I went to Mudbrick for our 9 year anniversary (and was our first time visiting). We ordered the cheese platter (which was great, but wasn’t listed on the restaurant menu). Took 2 hours to get our 2x coffees, cheese platter & fries (and the waiter forgot the table next to us coffee order 3x times). Not sure if it was just a one off, but wouldn’t be rushing to go back unfortunately.
The restaurant was just so beautiful and the gardens were such a view. We chose the 5 course and overall it was very disappointing. The first dish was basically a sorbet, the fourth dish was also a sorbet and the dessert was just very disappointing. Service was also quite average
Service Excellence!!!! to our host George and his staff. George went above and beyond customer service to ensure we had a great experience. We highly recommend Mudbrick for a great fine dining experience and excellent customer service. Its been our second visit to Mudbrick and will return on our next visit to Waiheke.
Such a good experience! Their cocktails were out of this world, and the food was amazing too. 10/10 and we are coming back in a few weeks. There was also a vineyard cat that kept coming in for pats, super cute. Would highly recommend coming here. :)
Waited two years to have our wedding lunch at Mudbrick (because of covid), more specifically The Archive Bistro. We had the most amazing day with great service and impeccable food. I highly recommend going there, it is pricey, but really worth going on special occasions. Could not recommend it more! If you are going to Waiheke, Mudbrick is a MUST!
Amazing service, food and drink from the bistro tonight. Definitely fine dining in every sense of the word but man they dont compromise quality. The server (I cannot remember his name unfortunatelywas not only hilarious but knowledgeable! Thankyou so much for a great experience tonight!
We chose to enjoy our last meal at the Mudbrick Restaurant before we relocated to Switzerland, we chose this because we knew its gonna be good. But it wasnt good it was absolutly outsdanding, as it was a Week day in early December it wasnt too busy and we got looked after by George which smashed it and made it the best last evening in NZ we could have imagined. Great Food, Great Wine, Amazing View. One of the first places i will go back to when Im in New Zealand next.
Food was delicious and our waiter was super sweet. We did have an unfortunate incident at the end of the night with our car and had to ask the staff for help. Very reluctantly the manager helped us which we were extremely grateful for but she was rude and snappy and clearly did not want to help. All i know is if someone came into my place of work asking for help i would happily volunteer. We left with happy bellies but not minds.
My wife and I were given a gift of a 7 course degustation meal at Mudbrick. Right from the start the experience was amazing.Manageress greeted us and led us to a table with doors already open and views across the island and back to Auckland City. Truly breathtaking and bonus was the weather was fantastic on the day.Our waitress was exceptional, friendly and very knowledgeable on both the courses and the wines. She made the experience so much nicer. If you are reading this, then thank you :)The chef preparing our 7 courses did a fantastic job, presentation was beautiful and they tasted amazing. Thank you Chef.Highly recommend Mudbrick for either formal dining experience or to simply have a casual meal - all with the amazing wines on offer. Thanks Mudbrick Team.
After being seated for 15 minutes and wanting to sit and have a nice lunch. We were told to leave due to having “no seating” even though the place was empty. The waiter puffed his chest out as soon as seeing our group. Feeling as though we were profiled. No impressed at all. Heard great things about this place bud was faced with nothing but disappointment
We had a beautiful dinner and experience at Mudbrick on Friday 4th Feb 2022. We received great service, great food and matching wines. It is a lovely place and beautiful scenery. We witnessed the sunset and then had a nightcap in the Archive Bar - again great service. We caught a taxi, so we could enjoy the food/wines/drinks, etc. We will be going back.
My very first visit and absolutely impressed with everything. From the welcome at the door, our waitress (sorry I truly stuck at remembering names), the food and yes... even paying the bill was a joyful experience 😆.Our food allergies were catered for.We ordered the 3 courses lunch 1x degustation and 1x plant based... Devine, hats off to your chefs. The wine, you could smell the berries... heavenly. It made me wish I drank. We had a lovely time, thank you!
We dined at The Archive just before new year, the food was outstanding. I am a professional chef for years but your chef is very creative. The lamb dish was amazing same as salmon, chicken dish. Superb desserts, great service, great view, we will be back again
Great service and view. Wine is ok. Menu is fine dining, didnt enjoy it particularly. Dont expect big meals or anything fully cooked. If we had been told about the sourcing of the food in advance to our meal, we would have enjoyed it more!
