Mud And Char - Coffee shop in Yorkville, United States
Angela always has the best attitude and an handles the drinks well while busy! Always love coming to M&C to start my day! Great drinks & delicious food from the crew
This is a small cafe close to Maple Ave and 355. Their coffee, smoothies and breakfast sandwiches are delicious. I had a mixed berry/banana smoothie and a toasted everything bagel with lox and cream cheese. My wife had the avocado toast. Their quality will not disappoint you. For a small cafe they sure had a lot of people coming in and out the entire time I was there which suggests their service and quality is always top notch.
Discovered this place today bc I was tired of Panera’s bagels lolThey have a nice variety of bagel selections and I loveee that they smothered my bagel with cream cheese. Didn’t get any toppings but I might next time. Also got a strawberry banana smoothie with chia seeds and enjoyed it. I plan on coming back and trying different items since I live near by and work remote - I may even camp out here for a work day 🤗
Stopped in here to avoid going to these massive chain coffee shops that don’t need our business. The coffee was great, and the service was spectacular. Where they dropped the ball was our sandwiches. Nothing was wrong with the sandwiches in terms of flavor but my BLT the bacon didn’t cover the sandwich which left me with huge empty pieces of toast an tomato in the corners, also my fiancé got the lox bagel which was delicious but they put All of the capers in the middle so when she got to that point it was unbelievably salty lol. No biggie but details are important. I’d recommend sprinkling the capers and spreading them out. Either way we will 100% be returning to this cute shop!
Staff is always friendly and helpful. I am currently obsessed with their tea. Love spending my lunch break reading here.
Do yourself a favor and stop here. Get the Smores overnight oats and the lemon blackberry loaf. If youre a true coffee fanatic-- the argon cold brew is top notch. The guys here were above and beyond making sure my coffee had enough pumps of my flavor choices. Even offering to let me try it and adding more if needed.Love a small owned coffee shop and will be returning back to this one. GO TRY IT.
Ridiculously good iced mocha latte. Finally a place that gets it right in. Chiland. Thank you Mud And Char!!!!
The 1st sip of the nitro cold brew was the best coffee of my life.Cant wait to go back
Excellent food and coffee!!!
I got an iced coffee and a piece of their bacon jalapeño loaf. Both were delicious.
Might be one of the best quick breakfasts ive had in a year. Moving from the city to the suburbs has been difficult, but I think I just found a little bit of hope for my morning coffee and breakfast sandwich. Staff was friendly and fast. They dont take AMEX, which is pretty typical for a suburban small business trying to figure things out. Highly recommend!
Place and people are very nice but my oat latte was very bad. Not properly prepared barista coffee
I love this place BUT please start updating your hours on all platforms. This was closed on 6/19/22 and had no update on Google maps or on their website or a voicemail notifying this. I had to drive 35 mins to find out a small sign of closed today. Please manage you customer communication better.
If you want a delicious and fresh breakfast sandwich, this is the place! You can order online and customize your sandwich. So yummy. Will definitely order again!
Stopped in for lunch, had a great meal with the cobb wrap and iced chai tea latte. Very fresh and very tasty, a small location that packs a punch. I ended up picking up another of their wraps for dinner too. Mud and Char will be my new spot for lunches.
A cute little cafe! We ordered the loaded avocado toast and the classic breakfast sandwich on an English muffin and it was delicious! They were a bit small but also filling so it was perfect! The cold brew and iced chai were alright! The cold brew was fruity and acidic but pretty good! The chai was just a bit to weak but that’s just preference.Overall the staff was friendly, they have great music, and food was delicious. Great place to take a little break or even get some work done since they have wifi! Also they are expanding so that is exciting!!
This place is a hidden gem! We got the cold brew and macchiato for drinks which both did not disappoint. To eat we got the loaded lox bagel and oh my gosh so good we will definitely be back to try some of their loose leaf teas and power bowls.
Cute coffee shop in a low key part of Downers. Staff was super friendly and welcoming. Tried one of their seasonal lattes and was happy with milk options and quality craft drink. Also had the lox bagel, which was very tasty. If you’re a cream cheese lover, they definitely don’t skimp on the cream cheese! Salmon tasted fresh too. Will definitely come again.
Really cute cafe. Breakfast sando was perfectly made and balanced. Will be back!
An excellent little coffee place with a cute aesthetic. They have some really good bakery options as well with both savory and sweet options. I haven’t had a latte or pastry that I haven’t liked yet! Very good and a must try place!
Loved the decor. Staff is amazing. Ordered a scone and it was very cold from the fridge… wish they had offered to heat. Latte was delicious, but should have had less foam.
This is one of the best food and coffee places Ive been in the suburbs. I ordered their loaded lox and was able to sample two of their power bowls and they are seriously amazing. Theyve only been open this week at this point and I am shocked because they are organized and delicious and had more than I could imagine!! Their lattes are also BOMB
So cozy and super kind, helpful staff! I like that their chai latte (and any other tea lattescan have no added sugar. So many milk options, too - dairy or nondairy! The breakfast sandwich was super fresh and I will definitely want to try a bagel version next time. Can’t wait to come back!
Wonderful little coffee and treat shop. Coffee was full of flavor and scones were quite tasty. They were busy. But it was worth the short wait. We will return!
To the staff who served me and my son today, thanks for being so nice! I had never been before and I probably will not bring him in again due to the Vibe being much more adults (with nice fabric chairs and a cozy cafe vibeI really tried to leave our place mess free and I appreciate your kindness and understanding. He was so excited to be at a restaurant :). Your coffee and bagels are wonderful 😊
Cute little place! Employees were quick and friendly. Snickerdoodle latte was delicious & enchanted green tea was very unique and good! Greek feta loaf & blueberry scone…. YUM! Will be back!
Intimate coffee shop. Great espresso based drinks and teas. Staff was excellent. Fast personal service even when busy. Will certainly return.
The breakfast sandwiches are awesome. Coffee is great. My wife loves the blueberry tea. One of our favorite breakfast stops.
Every time I walk into Mud & Char and see my homies behind the bar, they put a smile on my face. This is most definitely my favorite place. The two men I see there the most, never fail to make the perfect morning roast. With a selection of tea so immaculate, the Starbucks down the street aint adequate.Flinging ingredients on bagels faster than menopausal women doing kegels, slapping patties on the grill, so quick, they give Spongebob shoes to fill.Yet they always get my order right, so now this poem I must recite, about the best café around, a place where no employee has ever clowned, and all of the PTA moms flock, knowing theyve got the best coffee on the block.
Small coffee shop but lots to offer. Espresso is great and scone is probably the best Ive had so far. Prices are reasonable as Ive paid a little over $6 for the scone and espresso. Coffee shop is a little tight on space but is comfortable to have a quick bite.
Wonderful local coffee shop. Real espresso machine, not automated. Supportive local coffee with unique flavors you can’t find at a chain. Shop local. Support local.
Beautiful clean atmosphere. Care and artistry put into all of their tasty treats. Best coffee shop I have been to. Love that it is family owned.
Partner got hazelnut frappe and raved endlessly about it on the drive home. Easily one of the best coffee shop experiences for them. What I got was less exciting, only because I didnt understand how bitter it was going to be. I consider this to be user error, especially since staff gave sugar to be added after. The white chocolate isnt sweet!Seriously though, the goodness of this coffee prompted the sharing of multiple childhood memories and at least 40 minutes of conversation. We will be back and I highly recommend.
Favorite place for third-wave coffee. Good selection of whole beans for home brew, and great in house brew choices and specialty drinks. Always worth stopping by when I need a fix.
Super good iced coffee. Not bitter and has a smooth finish. I got a blueberry bagel with cream cheese and it was delicious. They dont skimp on the cream cheese!
Just got a plain black dark roast, but it was really good! Ill definitely be back when Im working in this area. Cute decorations and fast service, too.
Our Favorite Coffee Shop! Friendly staff, great coffee, teas & kombucha with amazing food!
Gentleman greeted us and gave us a run-down on coffee and what they offer. Very nice. Coffee is good, cold brew is good, oats is good, place is good. 👍👍
Kinda expensive as could be expected but its a refreshing, clean and just a nice place to grab some breakfast. Kinda like Starbucks but has a greater focus on the food aspect. The people working there are really nice and its a really interesting and cool place to go to. The bagels are lil baby bagels and you get just one and that was really my only complaint
Tried the Lavender Latte, it had a very nice flavor. It wasnt too sweet and had a wonderful aroma. Also, had the "Elvis" toast of the week. It was so delicious! It had the perfect blend of sweet and salty. I would definitely recommend stopping to check out Mud and Char. Very welcoming staff and relaxing atmosphere!
Great little coffee and small breakfast place. I have to say though, the food was a little pricey, but the coffee was delicious. I will sure be back for more coffee and instead of getting one of their larger meals, I will get something small and cheaper. Great service as well! Kind and very helpful.
Moving back to neighborhood and found this gem. Recently Ive been dairy free and do they have options. They also have this pudding with chia seeds and coconut milk thats so 😋. I wish the place was little bigger but it is so cute.
Just moved to the area and are trying to find a new coffee spot and this might be it! Very modern aesthetic and great coffee. I liked that they had a variety of sugar free syrups and a variety of milk options for their drinks. I also tried their veggie egg cup/quiche and coffee cake an both were enjoyable. This place is sort of a hidden gem since it is located in a strip mall but dont pass it up. They also had an electronic oregon trial game that kept the 90s kid in me very entertained.
The suburbs are lacking in places like this. While a bit pricy for the meals, the food is delicious.I had the lox bagel with my fiancé and I loved every bite of it. The only downside to this place is that it closes early. I’d love for this to be a place to come in in the evening and have a good work hour with a cup of coffee. I hope this place gets more traction and they can extend the hours!
The $6 cold brew didnt impress me too much. I wouldnt come to this place to study since the music is loud, the espresso machine is screeching, and there isnt much space between you and the other patreons. I had to put ear plugs in and then head phones over my ears and blast study music. Also, when youre at the tables against the wall, you can feel vibrations from the other tables. There are some outlet plugs scattered across the walls. Its a cute, cozy cafe, but not to study and not for cold brew - so it doesnt suit my needs, but maybe yours!Update: Lowered my rating by 1 star - I had to leave because the music was blaring. I couldnt even talk to someone halfway across the room.
nice breakfast sandwich made fresh. I dont drink coffee but the wife does and seemed to like it and they had self serve cold water which was fine for me. nice place to sit and relax in the morning with a bite to eat. saw people coming in and looks like they ordered and paid online, not sure but this was our first trip so we went in and sat. like it better than a sit down breakfast place. limited menu but good options and reasonable prices.
Had a friend meet me here instead of our usual coffee shop, it was great! I ordered a Chai latte and a slice of their homemade quiche. Its tiny, but there are plenty of places to sit and relax. (and yes there are highchairs! definitely accessible for everyone (large very clean bathroom is a definite +)
Adorable coffee shop with delicious drinks and food. The staff is so warm and helpful. A local coffee shop was so needed in Downers Grove as an alternative to all the Starbucks! If you’re looking for a more unique local spot, this is it.
Its great to finally have a local coffee shop relatively close to where I live! I didnt get a chance to try any of their food, but my latte and my wifes roasted latte were very good. My son lives hours bagel and cream cheese. Definitely going to go back sometime.
I ordered an Americano and their classic breakfast wrap. The food was so good and the ingredients tasted Super Fresh. Here on opening day and it seems like it will be my regular spot. Great atmosphere makes you relaxed well your heart rate goes to blast with the great coffee!
