The National Park, Dromyrourk, Killarney, Co. Kerry, Ireland, Cill Chainnigh
Furnished 19th-century mansion set among mountains and woodland, with shop, cafe and working farms.
The grounds here are beautiful and really well maintained. The tress and grass areas are lush green We spent our time here on the outside and did not make it into the house. There are many paths to walk the grounds and down to the lake or to the many gardens and stunning views. The views down at the lake are stunning and great for photographers. There is also a fair amount of parking as well as a cafe and toilets.
Lovely gardens and a great place to walk around. Views from the lake are stunning. Restaurant and gift shop in a great location too.
A great place to visit early in the morning. The garden areas are free to explore. It’s a small fee to see the Inside but we’ll worth the extra time to tour.
Beautiful garden, majestic trees, ,garden well laid out, 18 th century Victorian building, beautiful farm house for kids. Boat 🚢 rides available . Big Cafetaria with good choice of cakes, pastries, and drinks. Garden walks are refreshing. A must visit if in Killarney.
The gardens are spectacular and nice to wander around on a good weather day. We purchased tickets for the tour of the house and the traditional farms. Both were wonderful! The guides in the home were very knowledgeable. The traditional farm experience really brought you “back in time”. We enjoyed meeting the small farm animals and also tasting the fresh baked Irish soda bread on the tour!
Very beautiful grounds and cool tour off the mansion. Lots of things to look at. Used the handout they gave us to do the self guided tour of the house only. Other ticket options included the farm.
Nice scenic view and great location to spend few hours, the beautiful garden was well maintained and the lake view is absolutely stunning. It’s really give you freshness. I have wonderful experience and really enjoyed. Must visit place in Killarney.
The house and grounds are absolutely stunning. Spent the afternoon walking around taking in the gorgeous scenery, and stopped for a bite to eat. The staff we all wonderful and the food was delicious. Definitely worth taking a trip out,
This is real treasure on the cycling loop! What a beautiful stop on the way throught the national park of Killarney. Amazing gardens and views leave you speechless. I did not visit inside, but they have restaurant and caffé to just take a rest and refill the energy :You can also take a carriage and enjoy the views from there. It will take to the Torc waterfall, but not sure about the price … it is an attraction, so probably a lot 😂👌🏼
Lovely architecture embedded in a wonderful garden with lake view. There is a museum and a restaurant 100m distant from the main entrance. All services OK for wheelchair access. Horse chariots can be booked in place. Food is good, prices a bit elevated.
Lovely day out. Farm was also great there and enjoyed the restaurant 😊
Its a beautiful place in and around muckross house .. the lake view from the place is bliss and the gardens around with blush green 💚 flavours ..Do visit the restaurant besides the muckross house for a nice lunch and a good ice 🍨Just enjoy the place with the bi cycle to enjoy the serenity#Ireland #kerry #park #Trees #Mountains
Wonderfully done National Park! Beautiful house and spectacular grounds. We especially enjoyed the carriage ride & history background on our ride to the falls (it was raining buckets!)
Beautifull place to visit. The outside area, gardens, walkig trails and spectacular views of lakes and mountains. Must visit when in Killarney. Inside of the house is also worth a visit, great piece of history preserved. Price of tickets is very good.
Second trip to this place. I like the gardens and the view. Walks to the Torc Waterfall.highly recommend.
The guides in each room were fantastic! So helpful and willing to talk and explain.Stunningly beautiful inside and out.The garden restaurant was exceptionally busy though.Really enjoyed our day out at Muckross
Beautiful gardens and all nature. A place of peace and relaxation. When you walk through this beauty you immediately feel good.
Visit this place for the grounds and gardens. Longer on the soft, lush grass and take in the views of the lake and surrounding hills. Don’t miss the walk to the waterfall. About 90 minutes round trip. Take the dirt path rather than the paved one if you can. The house tour is nice. I’m not a big fan of this particular period, but enjoyed the short wander.
Great location to spend some hours. The cafeteria is great, we had a very good lunch for a reasonable price, a nice walk through the gardens and bought some quality gifts for friends and family. Lot of parking even many people being there it was easy to keep distance.
A nice day out. The abbey, farm and main house are all worth visiting. I particularly enjoyed the farm.
What a place! Amazing house with furniture straight from late 19th century! Not only its situated in national park, but the gardens are very pretty as well.Very important info - you cant take photos inside!
absolutely beautiful grounds and walking trails around the lake. fun to explore and see the impressive architecture.
The shop is super. You can watch the pottery being made and there’s an excellent collection of gifts - clothes, books, sweets, trinkets, family crests, pottery, photographs, jewellery, tweeds, woollens… The toilets are usually clean. The cafe would be great but it stops serving hot food at 3pm. They could make a killing by extending that as the place is hiving until late during the summer months. The grounds are immaculate and the views are stunning. Car parking isn’t too bad. Well worth a stop off.
The restaurant was lovely, great selection of food, sandwiches and pastries/cakes. Staff are so nice, very friendly and its not a tourist trap with expensive prices. We always visit when in Killarney.
Very beautiful manor house with stunning garden and wonderful lake. Its history is similar to Dunston Abbey. Big quеue in the cafe. Beautiful location that I I recommend visiting.
Have stopped by here twice now when going through Killarney, and have loved it both times. Haven’t actually gone in the house on a tour, but the grounds are stunning and worth a visit themselves. Long walking and biking paths, and plenty of gardens to stroll through. The pristine views down at the lake are something of wonder. There is a fair amount of parking and a main tourist centre with restaurant and gift shop. It may feel a little touristy, but if you like beautiful natural views, I would highly recommend.
Awesome place full of history! Love all the original artifacts and knowledgeable guides. Pretty rock garden and area to explore
They offered a self guided tour this day. Very entertaining and educational. The docents were knowledgeable and answered all our inquiries. The cafeteria was top shelf . Good vegetarian selections-best meal so far in Ireland
Beautiful place to visit. We enjoyed our stop here. I recommend visiting
How do I begin. I was told by the owner of the AirBnB we stayed at to make a stop. I had never heard of it. "One hour, if youre short on time, youll never regret it." He was so right what a beautiful garden and so many colors. Dont miss it.
I cant even explain how lovely and nice this place is.To be honest. Half a day is not enough for this area. Next time Ill stay longer
We had a very interesting visit to Mucross House and enjoyed the ability to walk around with few restrictions, except no photography. Our tour of the heritage farms however was a step too far and way too tiring.
Best place to start exploring the lakes. Big carpark with no charge and gardens are free.
The grounds are absolutely spectacular and really well maintained. The tulips are in full bloom and added to the spectacle set against the stone house and lush green grass. The fire escape especially built for the Queen is clearly visible. We spent time on the outside and did not venture into the house. There are many paths to walk , down to the lake or to the Garden centre where there are restrooms and a cafe. The gardens at the cafe are magnificentParking is plentiful
Fascinating look into an 18th century house. Beautiful interior and grounds.Be aware no photography or touching is allowed at anytime in the house.
Beautiful house and gardens. Great walking tour through the 3 floors of the building and reasonable priced for what you can see. Good guide with the essential information and also staff in the rooms for further questions. Would definitely recommend when in the Killarney National Park. Also possible to park at Muckross Abbey and then have the 2km walk through the garden/forest to the Muckross House.
Fantastic walks and scenery around the national park in Killarney. You can cycle as well or take a spin on the haunting cars
One of the most beautiful places in Ireland. Perfect for children and adults. Went with all my young cousins and they adored it(mostly because we got a carriage ride).
Highly recommend visiting the house. There is a charge to go inside but if you choose just to look outside it is totally worth it! Highly recommend packing a picnic if the weather is good. The grounds are well kept.
A wonderful experience! Muckross is definitely a gem. A great place to bring the family, the gardens are perfect for a picnic. The tours for both the Manor House and Farms are €12 ($13.35for Adults and €8 ($8.90for children. The Manor House tour is approximately 30-45 minutes, it is currently unguided due to Covid-19 regulations, the Manor has over 65 rooms and a lovely rose garden that leads to the Muckross Lake.To get to Muckross Farms is a bit of a hike up a slight hill, they do offer a ride for those who are unable to do the trek. The farms give a great historical insight and its a great place to bring children.Muckross has a great gift centre and restaurant (it closes at 3pm).Be sure to visit, its definitely a to-do on the bucket list in Killarney!
I loved visiting this place. Wonderful surrounding. The lake, the gardens, The farm, you can do much around this place.
Definitely worth visiting - the house, the gardens, the farms, walks around the lake, Torc waterfall, even hills/forest walks.
This is one of the most beautiful parts of the killarney nationalpark. The view at the lake is amazing and the muckross house itself creates an amazing atmosphere. There are walks around including some kind of stone garden that is fun to walk with its little paths.
We never got a chance to go inside, but the castle and gardens are gorgeous even from the outside. We even took a horse drawn carriage ride. Stunning views! If you go, please dont miss the Torc Waterfall hike nearby. It was lovely!
Beautiful grounds. Good amount of walking paths throughout the property. 10min drive from Killarney city center. We visited at sunrise and only saw two others..making it a very peaceful time to visit.
We got here on a beautiful sunny warm September day.. We walked to torc waterfall and back then around the house on a self guided tour which was cool to see portraits and what life was like for the different families who lived there over the years. We really enjoyed our carvery dinner served beside the gardens. There was a huge selection of different nibbles to suit every palate from sweet to savoury.. There are a lot of top quality hotels, guesthouses etc close by with plenty of places to eat and drink. We highly recommend a visit to muckross House, especially on a sunny day as the views and gardens are amazing. We will be back again.
Havent been inside the house itself but the grounds are stunning. Beautiful landscaping, amazing views surrounding it with easy access to the national park.
Havent been inside, but the grounds are fabulous for walking. Muckross Abbey is well worth a visit and if you need some retail therapy, the craft shop provides good value for money.
Beautiful house, lots to see. Very reasonable at €7.00 per adult for house and gardens. Gardens are huge, plenty of space for families with kids.Cafe and restaurant was dining out only on our visit. Was very busy.Get there early to spend plenty of time wandering through the different areas of the gardens and house.
Beautiful place to see. Free car park, lovely garden, long walks around the lake stunning views of mountains. 10e for adult or 5 for kids trip on boat around the lake. Not to big just Stunning waterfall. There is even sand beach by the lake. 3,4 hours of fantastic trip around the lake and Muckross House. 1h 20 min from Cork so not to bad.Worth seeing 😊😊😊😊😍😍😍😍
