Natural beauty is still great, but compared to what it was in the past 10 years...it was desperate. Fewer fish with less varieties after 6 dives of snorkeling, no sign of ray, no eel, no sea snake, no squid and no sea turtle, which these were easily found last time I came. What I found many more are crowd of tourists especially lunch time. Bad smell of garbage and public toilet comes frequently when sitting at the beach.I give 2stars due to the messy of the tourist crowd and poor accommodation. I stayed 2 nights at the seaview bangkalow. The electricity is available only 6p.m. to 6 a.m., restroom is dirty and horribly smelly through the whole night. There is no fridge and no chair inside the room or at the terrace. This is the facility that should be improved.Compared to other islands, Surin Island now becomes less attractive and less value for money.

This national park is stunning. The waters have been calm mid-April and the sunsets are stellar. Be respectful when visiting the local village and show them some support by considering their handcrafted souvenirs. There are sea turtle eggs along the beach at the national park landing site so be careful and as always respectful of nature.

Beautiful island about 90 minutes by speedboat from the mainland. Ideal location for snorkeling as the water is crystal clear which makes seeing the coral reefs and the teeming sea life easy.

Very beautiful snorkling. It seems from the bad reviews years ago I was lucky to have visited the sight when there wasnt a lot of Chinese tourists and after a few years to let the reefs regrow and clean the island. I would say if you can, as it is a few hours away from main airports, the trip is worth it. I highly recommend this to snorkle. there is tons of fish and beautiful water.

Heads up, if you take a tour to come here, youll probably be in one of those big speed boats with many other people (which means there will be a sea of floating orange lifevests in snorkeling spots). That being said, the islands are spectacular and the snorkeling was the best Ive done. Water visibility is very high with lots of corals and fishes. Just make sure to be mindful and not step on the corals, as they are very fragile and take a long time to form.

Very beautiful. Almost no plastics can be found near the coral reefs and it’s great to see that they’re slowly recovering from bleaching.

Quite gorgeous place. Suggestion: stay there at least 2 days, local guides would grab you to several excellent bays that one day trip groups cannot visit

I would give 5 stars if it wasnt so expensive. The island is a real paradise, but for the price you pay for enter in the national park (500bath for adults, 300 for kidsthey should, in my opinion, caring a bit more about the envirement... we collect bags of plastic rubbish on the beach and there were to many dry leaves outside our tent where rats make nest... it could be normal if you are in a lonly idland, but here is like a scout holiday camp. The sea is really nice transparend... the nature amazing... you cannot discover to much walking around because everything is forest... is worthy to do the snorkeling excursion, but a littlebit sad the Moken village... they just sell their life to tourist and some cheap plastic bracelet...Is amazing to see the high and low tide and how is changing everything during the day...Bring your own tent if u can, some bread, fruit and tea bags 😜

Absolutely beautiful location. Have to come in a tour to get here. The is a local population that lives here and tourists trend you wander through their area, which feels so but strange. Beach is littered with amazing shells, and the snorkeling here is incredible.

The best snorkeling experience we have had so far. There are actually some live corals to be seen, as well as authentic aboriginal village, and quiet and pristine beaches. This place is far better than the over crowded Similan islands.

One of the best island for snorkeling and diving in Thailand. We spend ther more than a month, but every day found something new and interesting. A lot of fishes, including sharks, stingrays and mantas and of course many coral fishes. Huge groupers - only here Ive saw grouper more than 5 feet long! very clear water - later Ill add some underwater photos

This is a pristine area that needs conservation. The extremely noisy long-tail boats spoil the otherwise peaceful ambience. Action is urgently needed to quieten the long-tailed boats.

I spend 4 days 3 nights (Local tour - Sabina Tour Package). Services are so good which make you life more comfortable.I was snorkeling 12 diving spots. With my free dive skill, you will see a paradise down there.Anyway, I was sleeping in tent for 3 nights (only 1 night is hot). Its very windy. They will provide a sleeping set for the package. For the foods, they have a restaurant here which is a limit menu and price plus 50% from the land (its a very reasonable because they have to bring everything from the land)..If you love snorkeling & free diving,Here is the place that you must visit in Thailand. You will meet a crystal clear water, many species of fish and coral (fish is very big). Its easy to find blacktip reef shank and turtle.

Good facilities, such as camping, clean toilets and all. Full points on that front. However, when I went snorkeling( 5 areas), I saw that the coral was mostly dead, (though colourful fish was seen). This was sad, considering, Surin islands, are Thailands premier marine park. I dont know whether this was due to global effects such as coral bleaching or due to park mismanagement..anyway, dont have great expectations,

Great beach, the sand is as fine as powder, tent was build up right on the shoreline. With a hammeth right infront of the tent. Pretty awsome. On top of that there are pigtail monkeys here, they really get up close.... Beware of your stuff and lock everything cuz they are stealing basterds. Also alot of big mono lizards wander around here in the swamps, and if your lucky you might even see some boa constructictors. There are enough showers and toilet buildings for both men and woman. And there is an restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner. If you want to know the times just aske me. Also there are snorkeling trips. One at 9 and one at 2. Both take 2 hours... That includes the time to get there so 2 dives of 40min in the morning and 3 diving spots in the afternoon. Its only 200bath each so I wouldnt skip if it you want to save money. Food is okay... Kinda fat and so but as a chef Im used to better. But grilling your toast on the BBQ is awsome. There is an information desk aswell for all your questions. An smoothy bar and icecream for the kids is available aswell. Tho when you plan to sleep in a tent here.... Bring your own blowup matras. Cuz these army roll op matrasses got me up until I was a creck. Depends on what your used to ofc and if your really tired.

Very nice atmosphere. Good for relaxing. I love the sea color there. The staff there are nice, friendly, and helpful.Internet is very limited. Making phone calls is still possible, though. There is a Wi-Fi at the counter but the signal is not so strong. It may be good for those whod like to escape from their busy lives.

Beautiful beach with snorkeling and decent amount of fish a little ways out. Fun stuff for kids, like rope swings. Chill atmosphere with all kinds of travellers, Thai included. Great food at the canteen and cold showers to get clean at the end of the day. Sleeping bags and pads provided for a fee. Temp was decent for sleeping when we visited at the end of December.

Seems like a lot of the natural fauna is hard to find or unfortunately been "reduced". It takes a long time to reach there for a day trip and the visibility when we were there was poor. We wanted Richelieu Rock but unfortunately 2m waves canceled that trip.

Do yourself a favor and camp overnight here for a few nights. It’s the most amazing place! They’ll take you on snorkel tours for around $5 and you’ll see the most amazing fish/coral. The restaurant has great food for around $7 I think. It’s your only option for food but they’re open for all meals. While groups arrive for day trips around 11am, the place clears out by 3:30ish and then it’ll be you and a couple other visitors and the island basically to yourselves. This is maybe my favorite place on earth. It’s tricky to get here (we used Khao Lak Lifebut it’s SO WORTH IT.

Great snorkeling on the reefs. If you go with the Seastar tour boats they will take you to one of the islands for lunch. The lunch was not great when we went and the whole lunch area felt very out of place in the beautiful surroundings.

Paradise 10 years ago! Now: no park ranger taking care nature: too many, every day HUNDREDS! of visitors coming for snorkeling, swimming and, most important, eating. Bring lots of rubbish, trash. Coming with very noisy Moken longtail boats (no silencer, no exhaust, lots of noise because hundreds of boats coming and goingpolluting the air with black engine smoke, anchoring over coral reefs. We did see many destroied corals, broken corals and plastic rubbish in the sea. 58 km away from mainland!!! Expensive rooms for rent 2000 Baht per night with matress same like sleeping on wooden floor. 100m away, from 18:00 till 08:00 all night electric power generator. Noisy! And every day, like a swarm, hundreds of tourists coming for fun, not real interested in nature. Noisy, bringing mobile phones with little subwoofers, playing loud music. We can wait, till also nature on Surin Islands will be dead, like many places in Thailand. Water is turqoise green and blue, yes. But everything else is done by human being = National Park people, to make much money. NO, ITS NOT WORTH A VISIT! Its good for fun people only. All National Park staff very unfriendly and not helpful. You can feel, they feel boring, because far from home. SURIN, and SAME SIMILAN Islands ( even the double or more visitors, because closer to mega noisy places like Khao Lak, Krabi and Phuket). Very sad for our nature

Fabulous opportunities for snorkling. We went on a SeaStar Happy Journey tour and where taken by long tail boat to several very good snorkeling locations. At one we even encountered a 1.5 meters shark at only 5 meters distance. Tent spot is jam packed and we had the miss-opportunity to have ours next to a guy who set his alarm at 5:30 AM and then snoozed it numerous times...

Very beautiful and peaceful island, no hotel, no bar, only national park facilities which is really good for a quiet relaxing week, there are campgrounds where you can rent a tent or bring your own. A few cabins for rent of you dont want to sleep in a tent, longtails boat for rent with reasonable price.

Snorkel and coral is not enough good as my expectation, but everything in this island is cool and natural, nothing artificial. People is the best part. I had stayed for 5 nights and met many cool people. From the beginning I pitched tent had a lot of wind, people around me gave me a hand with a great smile. Many things lacked, specially fruits which is my daughters favorite though. But it doesnt matter and she had a lot of fun with people in this island. I highly recommend this island to the people who want real relax and happiness with people, not money and not material comfort.

The islands itselves are beautiful! Great beaches, great snorkeling (we were lucky enough to see a manta ray among all the other smaller animalsand our guide and all the locals were very nice and friendly. On the down side: it is a big tourist thing and the tourisits money seems to be of way more importance than the environment. We did see chystal clear water and white sand beaches but we also saw plastic bags/ cups/ bottles and all other sorts of garbage in the water as well as in the ocean. Corals were broken and especially during 10am-2pm everything is loud and follows a strict time schedule. If you stay overnight (we did for 2 nightsyou also start to get the peace and beauty of the islands without the thousands of tourists.

Beautiful beach, crystal clear water. Well conserved and protected nature. Basic accommodation in bungalows or tents. Park staff very helpful and nice. Co-operative restaurant offers food 3 times a day. Electricity only few hour in the evenings. Coral sadly devastated due to climate and natural disasters but new coral already starts growing. Recommendable for nature lovers and families.
