Great Basel pub and atmosphere!

The manager is anti-Ukrainuan.I went in last night with my Ukrainian friend and he said last time I was there I threw a drink over a male member of staff, strange because he was the only male member of staff working that night. The real reason is one of the regulars was Russian and didnt want us there. Ive had no problems in any of the other Pickwick bars, just this one. He shouldnt be in charge with that attitude.

We wait more than 40 mins to have our food, we go ask and first they say we did not order anything. Then they find our food and they do not bring to our table we bring it by ourselves. Then we ask if the chips were included and the answer “read better our menu”!! Really?! Not the first time the same type of experience in this place. Never again honestly and I do not suggest anyone to go

Love this place. Great decor, all the food is great, amazing beers and scotches. A must stop for sure.

Went there a while back and the fish and chips was terrible. Half of it was inedible. Decided not to go back for a while.Went back yesterday (Tuesdayand rather than risk a meal I ordered the sausage and bacon baguette which was really very good. I was happy. I went back today, Wednesday, and ordered it again and it was terrible, really over-fried and dry. I could only eat half of it. I dont know if its different staff or what but itll again be a long time before I take the risk ordering food.The (femaleservers are always kind and pleasant. Drinks are rather expensive (7 CHF for a sodabut you make that choice when you go in.

Very nice pub located in a very nice, central spot in Basel. Atmosphere, personnel, food and drinks were all top quality! Totally worth to pay a visit if you like this wooden style of pub and of course pub food!

A nice and friendly Englisch Pub with a long tradition in Basel. Always good to stay there for a beer or two.

Dont eat ! Worst burger i have eaten for the price we paid ! 20 CHF. Go to burger king you will save money. Drinks are okay but dont eat.

Quite nice place to stop and have a drink. The waiter is such a nice and friendly Guy. The House Lager is pretty good, recommended

Great variety of beers and whiskeys, true to the concept. Nice pub quizes on Sundays with friendly atmosphere. Nice selection of finger food and snacks that match the offered beers. Great location in the city center and opened until late. Recommended

Great place to have a pint, or two. Traditional pub feel with the usual food choices. The fish and chips are amazing!Bartenders all speak English, making it comfortable for those that dont speak German or French.I highly recommend giving this place a go!

Food is a bit pricey, but the burgers are excellent and worth it. A great place for meetups among friends, with a classic Irish pub ambiance and a nice selection of beers.

Typical bar I would say. Good place to go with friends for a drink. Food is also available there but I havent tried it yet.If I would go again with 4 or more people, I would reserve a table though.

Mr Pickwick is your quintessential British pub, with plenty of beer available on tap, wooden decor with carpet, football (or at times Cricketon the box and a smattering of ex pats all around. Located in the Steinenvorstadt, a pedestrian street where you will find a lot of snazzy bars and restaurants in the centre of Basel, albeit the more upmarket ones, that is the more expensive ones!Mr Pickwick is a fine pub though, and it has a pretty decent selection of British and Irish beer both on tap and in bottle.In summer one can sit outside and do some people watching. also they open the large front doors which is great for letting in some cool Rhine air throughout the barThe pub grub here is meant to be good (their nachos, and fish n chips are popular dishescertainly what came out of the kitchen while I was there looked good, but as this is Switzerland I prefer to keep my money for a more refined liquid lunch. I went for Fullers Jack Frost, an English bitter that was fine. Staff were efficient, albeit a bit cold, but heh this is an English pub right! Anyway I do like Pickwicks, its a decent place and its always easy to find a seat and have a nice pint while planning what you will get up to in the night, a good starting point……even if its best not to look too closely at your bill, ouch! (Yes, I know, its Switzerland!)
