Counter-serve joint for rotisserie chicken, lomo saltado (beef stir-fry) & other Peruvian plates.
Mr Pollo in Covina
Description
Privilege
If you havent ate at Mr. Chicken like I call it you havent ate preuvian food. Lomo Salgado is my favorite. The chicken is amazing. Many dishes to try I would suggest to try them all. It gets pretty busy I would suggest calling in your order and picking it up to go. Its a small location and not many seats. Besides that that is it also the salsa they give you. Omg.
MoreBest chicken with so much flavor. The chimichuri and hot sauces are great on rice and beans. I drive from LA to SGV just to eat here.
MoreRealy tasty food would recommend to anyone
One of my favorite Peruvian places. Ive been going here for years and their food has been good from the start. It remains consistent and I crave it when Im in town.
MoreI forgot how tasty Mr Pollos food was. Their roasted chicken and traditional Peruvian plates are worth stopping by for.
MoreThe chicken was insanely good. It was all good, but the chicken earns the title. Even if it was Dr. Pollo, still
MoreFood was delicious... the pollo and salad was 🔥!!!! Also the combination of chimi churri and aji gold !!! Just perfect....
MoreLove their pollo a las brasas with a side of fries and a cold Maracuya!
Amazing food! Highly recommend!
Food is delicious but they are stingy with the sauces and the prices went up
Great rotisserie chicken and sides. Im looking forward to their other offerings as well. Very friendly and helpful staff!
MoreGreat food. Prices are fair. Unfortunately, this place only has one phone line. Its extremely difficult to place orders.
MoreHorrible service. I called in an order and who ever answered the phone said they didn’t speak Spanish and hangs up on me. I called back and ordered in English. I was told the order will be ready in 15 minutes. I went to the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager. The cashier who I know is the one that answered the phone went to get him and she came back with “he wants to know what it is about?” I said tell him it’s about a complaint. Finally this sweaty guy comes and ask what is this about. Not hello I’m the manager what seems to be the problem? I told him what had happened all he said was that he was sorry and walked away. I don’t know what was worse, the fact that I got hung up on or the manager not realizing he lost a customer. After waiting 40 minutes for my order. I requested a refund.
MoreTables are back inside the restraunt for dine in. I always get Lomo Saltado for my wife and half chicken with fries and rice.
MoreBig delicious portions! Plenty of flavor, and very well priced for their big portions. Good and kind service.
MoreThe food is amazing but the prices are ridiculous for the rice bowls and stuff... We stopped going here because of a noticable increase in price and decrease in portion sizes over the years...
MoreOrder pollo saltado the fries were soggy and food was over salted. I’ve had much better plus the service was extremely poor ! Very disappointing wasted money.
MoreHow they seasoned the chicken is the best and sooo unique, very fresh, better order over the phone if you want dont want to wait... the only thing, the dining needs a deep cleaning.
MoreThe chicken was good but definitely you have to order ahead. It was a Sunday when we went maybe that is why we had to wait 20 minutes for our order. We order a combo that said came with a drink but when we asked for our drink, we were told we had to pay a dollar more.
MoreAbout a couple months ago , my dad had brought home an order from this place, and my food had a long piece of Hair on it. It was the Green Spaghetti with Medium-rare steak. When I picked up the steak, there was a long piece of hair on the spaghetti. I was so disgusted I just immediately threw it out and didnt take photos. I still refuse to eat from this place ever again.
MoreGreat food long wait but by no fault of the restaurant. They ate in demand for a real reason. Everything is great.
MoreIve always seen this place and never went in. Well today I went in and let me tell you this place was GREAT. The chicken was very good and the green noodles we got with it were excellent. I will definitely be coming back here.
MoreMr Pollo used to be the place to go for Pollo a la brasa. The new ownership has greatly reduced the size of the chicken and greatly increased the price. Seems like when you are starting to find and enjoy the flavor, the pleasure ends cause there is more to eat. After many years...My family and I are no longer customers..
MoreAlways like the food at this place. Theyre a little weak on customer service, if you call to pre-order the phone will ring and ring at times with no response. But, that aside, the food has always been good, I get the Chaufa de carne with no egg.
MoreFood was delicious. Definitely a hole in the wall place but dont let the appearance fool you. 30 minute wait for a to go order but worth the wait. I will assuredly be returning.
MoreI think the prior visit compared to the most recent one was back in 2019. The food still rocks- I cant believe I did not return any sooner. I recommend the Lomo saltado with noodles or fries. Both are loaded with flavor and rock.
MoreFirst time visiting this joint... definitely worth a visit. The rotisserie chicken was so flavorful and tender. I really liked the sauces that came with it. Garlic one was so delicious. I will be back to try other dishes!
MoreI ordered the Lomo saltado. Althought, the taste "seasoning " was good Im giving it 3 stars because I didnt like the fact that my French fries were drenched. I dont like soggy fries. I am not an expert on Peruvian food and are not quite sure how other Peruvian restaurants make this particular dish. But, one thing I wish it wouldve had was some veggies, it barely had any meat , and for that price. You better put some meat on that dish!
MoreUpdate on 2/24/21Always good to great, but never disappoints. Ordered the 1/2 chicken plate with 1/2 beans 1/2 rice and side salad. The food is always pretty good, but chicken a slightly on the dry side this time but not a major issue. The green sauce which is usually the highlight of the meal was a little off though. Grainier than I remember and not as spicy. Rice and beans were as good as ever and service spot on.————-Great little Peruvian restaurant in West Covina. Everything here is amazing but the chicken, rice and green salsas are the stand outs for sure. On this trip we tried the Tallarin Verde with pollo and Lomo Salgado com bistec. Both were amazing and they gave us extra liquid gold, aka green salsa, to go which was awesome.Of course they are take out only these days, but do take orders I eat the phone so it made the trip easy and quick without having to stand around waiting for our food in the tiny shop.
MoreThe food and service was excellent. Friendly staff in person and on the telephone upon placing the advanced order.Since it was my first time visiting Mr. Pollo, I decided to order their most traditional/standard dishes: Lomo Saltado, Pollo Saltado, and a whole roast chicken - Pollo a la Brasa. All three dishes were amazing! Both Saltados have the meats perfectly seared over crispy french fries and steamy white rice. The Pollo a la Brasa was well marinated both inside and outside the chicken with a mesquite, smoky flavour produced by the firewood used during the roasting process. This fragrance is immediately noticeable upon entering the restaurant.
MoreBest limo soltado. We order all the time. We love their food. We can pick up any time. The side sauces are excellent. The sauces are what do it for me though. The chimichurri and green salsa are fire! Red sauce is not bad either and they have garlic, ketchup and mustard as well. Worked out well for me, but makes for a lot of food either
MoreThis is a wonderful place for Peruvian food. Their rotisserie chicken is delicious; even moreso when you add their yummy green spicy sauce! The rice is seasoned well and pairs nicely with their meats. Their Lomo Saltado is on point. But my absolute favorite there is the Tallarin Verde. Its normally served with chicken, but I love mine with the steak!!
MoreTo say I am disappointed is an understatement. I placed an order over the phone and was told that it would be 45 minutes. I took my time getting there. 40 minutes had past so I went inside to pay for my order and was told it would be an additional 15 minutes. So I went back to my car and set the timer for 15 more minutes. After the additional 15 minutes I went back inside to pick up my order. As soon as I walked in the employees told me my order was not ready. And would be atleast another 10 minutes and proceeded to tell me that they had other orders ahead of my order and were really busy. So by this time Ive had it. I just wanted to leave. I asked for my money back and left.I get it that restaurants get busy. But they were the ones that told me 45 minutes. If they were busy and had big orders ahead of my order. They could have easily said it would be an hour or more. I feel they wasted my time. This was the first time I visited this place and will be the last.
MoreReally good chicken fast service and very clean place
Great food! Small seating area and normally very busy. Can be long wait times for food. Works well for call ahead & take out. Picture is Lomo Saltado
MoreThe food here is good Ive never had a problem with the food, I went to have lunch with my family, we ordered our food and my 4 year old really had to use the restroom during our meal, they refused to let him use the restroom! Kids are kids when they need to go they need to go! The owner who was there could have been nice enough to let him use it, unbelievable! We had to get to go boxes and look for a restroom elsewhere! Very upsetting , Im disappointed.
MoreMr. Pollo never disappoints. You can order anything from the menu and it tastes good. Their drinks are also very refreshing. This is one of our favorite Pollo places. Parking can be difficult sometimes. The sauces are also all good.
MoreDelicious, combo prices are decent, main dish two sides and a drink for under $10. In the past their #4 combo chicken breast was sometimes.. weird but past few visits have been excellent. One star off for the location, sometimes cant find parking in that little strip mall.
MoreA small place with some very delicious chicken, beef and pork dishes and dessert. Free refills for the drinks. Theres not a lot of seating there. I like most people order the food to go. Theres handicapped parking and access and seating. The chicken is on a rotisserie right up front where can see if being cooked. Their prices are not that bad. I didnt see a restroom... but I was looking for it. They have other delicious combination plates.
MoreFood is great! Customer service is good, always packed, but good turn around time, my favorite authentic local Peruvian food by far!
MoreMy first time here. Ordered 1/2 chicken, lomo saltado, and this green noodles with a thin steak on top.The chicken was decent. Kind of dry. Costco rotisserie chicken is better. The seasoning is good, but.. it was way too dry.Lomo saltado beef was overcooked. The beef was hard and dry like last years beef jerky. The green noodles are good, but the steak on top was super well done and hard. Very dry... The seasoning on the steak was decent, but it had the texture of a leather shoe.Maybe I had a bad batch, but I am definitely not coming back.
MoreGood place to grab some fast Peruvian food. The rotisserie chicken is good and flavorful. Fries are good. The place is nice and neat. It can get packed, and sitting is first come. Parking as well can sometime become a hassle. It gets packed during lunch time as well. But the food is good, the ambiance as well. Great customer service, very helpful staff. Stop by and try some good Peruvian food.
MoreThis is an amazing Peruvian chicken eatery. The chicken is slowly cooked on a wood burning rotisserie, until the seasoning completely penetrates into every fiber of the chicken. The green sauce goes perfect with the chicken and salad. Highly recommended if you are in Covina. honest reviewer
MoreIve gone to Mr Pollo occasionally over the years and always loved it. I relocated to Denver a few years ago and I always make time to come get some food when Im in LA. Im born And raised in Lima, Peru and this is REALLY good food. Ive shared this spot w lots of friends over LA and they all love it. Take out is a good option since the space is limited and the menu is pretty basic, so you wont get too confused if youre New to Peruvian food. EVERYTHING is good here... And make sure you try the sauces!
MoreI discovered this place last week and I have already been there twice. The chicken is seasoned perfectly and the sides are tasty as well. The lomo saltado is also really good. It is huge portion, the plate is 13.99 but can easily feed two. They also sell homemade Carmel sandwich cookies. For 10 dollars we received 10 cookies, a little pricy for the size but they were really tasty as well and go well with coffee. The only downside is the size inside, there are only a few tables and are crowded together. I can see it being uncomfortable during a lunch or dinner rush. I also wish they were open later they close at 9 pm most nights.
MoreGreat place food good more than enough food to eat.
I came here after a trip to IKEA with my brother to get some lomo saltado. Once you walk in your hit with the smell of chicken getting cooked. Its a small restaurant but everything in here was awesome. The lomo saltado is perfect and all of that sauces were amazing. We also got the tallarin Verde which was like spaghetti noodles with a kind of Verde sauce that seemed to be made out if cilantro. It was good but thought the lomo saltado was way better.
MoreThis is by far the best restaurant in the entire Azusa Ave. Up north, down south, youll find nothing better than this place. The only complaint I have is the local itself and that their restroom is a hit and miss. Sometimes you can use it, sometimes you cant. Theyre in a very busy location with few parking spots. Non the less, I still travel 11 miles to get this food.Best chicken Ive ever had. Green noodles with steak is my absolute favorite. Their rice and chicken dish has a very particular taste that is like nothing Ive ever had. I always order it.
MoreDelicious Peruvian food!! My favorite Lomo Saltado and Chicken with rice and French fries plus INCA COLA!!
MoreThis place has great food. However it is uncomfortably small. It gets really crowded during the evening hours. Their food makes up for it tho.
