Mountain Meadow Inn B&B - in Helena, United States
close to the park, feel like home and not like hotel. highly recommended
Excellent spot in a garden like setting right at the entry of Mount Rainier National Park. Well maintained and lovely decorated room (we had the "Blue Suite"with good amenities and lots of space, inkl. the option to relax and/or enjoy a glass of wine on the patio / veranda after a long hike in the park. Several restaurants are close nearby. We chose the Wildberry, who as an alternative to Burgers also serve Nepalasian food which we found to be delicious. Thanks to the excellent insider tipps of Ralph, the owner we also found some nice extra spots in and around Olympic National Park, which was our next stop after Mount Rainier.
A very homey stay! The place is a house with three bedrooms + shared kitchen and living room. The owners are so thoughtful and provided breakfast based on # ppl. Feels like home - highly recommend if you’re going to Mt Rainier
Good area and short distance to the park.
Nice place, clean and near Mt. Rainer.
We enjoyed our stay here but struggled a little bit with the check in – perhaps it was partly because we were tired and hungry after a long day exploring Mt Rainier National Park. However, it is disappointing the owners don’t welcome you personally but rely on instructions in an envelope taped to a board by the parking lot and an abundance of handwritten notes posted everywhere to explain all the procedures and idiosyncrasies of the place. There were separate keys for the front door, the room, and even the bathroom which was somewhat confusing since the bathroom lock was a little bit quirky. To her credit, one of the owners did come to my rescue when I called the number listed on a note by the front door. I do have to say we were sent an e-mail that made all of this very clear, but since we were travelling, we did not have easy access to e-mail because of spotty cell service in this area. It seems like maybe this process was put in place during the time when the pandemic restrictions required it, but perhaps it is time to add back a personal touch, greeting and checking in guests in person, cooking a real breakfast in the morning, etc. This is an Inn after all, and that type of service is what could make this place really special. The grounds were beautiful, the room was comfortable and cozy, the location was great, just a few miles to the National Park entrance station and the breakfast was as good as it could be with the way it was set-up, basically make it yourself, with a decent selection of food to choose from. It doesn’t really qualify as a bed and breakfast however, more like a “bed and put together your own breakfast from the items we leave out for you”. My other suggestion would be to make the sign larger and closer to the road –the Inn is back off the road, somewhat hidden and the driveway is not obvious, so it is very easy to miss it and drive right by. Cell service is not very good so the digital maps on the phone that we have all become so dependent on were not helpful, as a result we had kind of a hard time finding this place.
Easy to check in. The attention to detail was appreciated. We loved the thoughtful treats that greeted us when we walked in. The breakfast was as promised and perfect. We really enjoyed our stay there and would definitely stay again.
The owners are thoughtful, kind and accommodating. The grounds are beautiful. The garden suite were the perfect accomodations for two friends traveling in Washington for the first time. Thank you for all the treats!
Nice room, to bad I had noisy neighbors at night but the hotel is really nice
We stayed at the garden suite for 3 nights. The place was very clean, with refrig stocked with breakfast items (milk, fruitpunch, yogurt, bagels, sometimes croissant). Whats more, you could make your own marshmallow in door! A morning walk on the meadow with fresh coffee in a quiet place is the best a vacationer could ask for. We had it all from the Meadows. You can also make a campfire using the wood/kindling provided by the house. But we didnt do it because of rainy/snow conditions. Its 6 miles to the Nisqually entrance of Mt. Rainier NP, which opens in the winter. There are quite a few hiking trails at the Longmire Visitor Center. If the road is covered by too much snow, the Longmire gate to Paradise might close early (e.g. 3pmor not even open. So be mindful with the trip planning. The owner was very responsive, giving all kinds of directions to check in/out, dine, hike, and use the hot tub. We enjoyed the experience a great deal.
I have made a reservation for the house with hot tub in July for the New Years. Our family had everything planned and in mid-October we got the message that they cancelled our reservation because of some repair works. At that time it was too late to cancel our reservation because all other houses in the area were all booked up. The repair works were planned 3 months ahead so they could have postponed the repairs in order to respect our reservation which we had made half a year before. We have tried to contact them for more than 7 times by phone but they didnt respond. We also left multiple voice messages and when they responded and we started asking questions about the booking cancellation they hang up on us. After that they didnt respond to our following few voice messages to call us back. The overall experience with Mountain Meadows Inn was terrible and we are now extremely disappointed. The Inn didnt offer any other variants within the Inn for the same dates and didnt offer any apologies. The whole communication with the staff was also extremely disappointing because it was very hard to get in touch with them and when we got in touch with them they hang up and lied that the connection was bad, when, in fact, the connection was pretty good. So, I wouldnt recommend Mountain Meadows Inn to anyone who wants to have a nice vacation, because you might be treated the same terrible way.
We made reservations in order to attend a wedding, when we no longer could attend the wedding we notified them (we did correctly do so earlier than the policythey cheerfully refunded our deposit and canceled the reservation. We will be sure to rebook when we get up there!
I left a message asking for a call back to reschedule my reservation and they just cancelled it. Not sure why. Thats very disappointing as now I lose the fee I paid through the parks service to rebook. Not cool.
We stayed for two nights. On arrival, the keys waited for us in the gate with very clear explanation on how to enter. Our room was in the main house on the ground floor. It was very clean and tidy. There were welcome cookies and hot beverages awaiting. The room offered a binder with explanation of everything and anything for the area including trails and food options. The kitchen is fully equipped with anything including spices should you choose to cook.It was set up per room name with plates and a welcome basket filled with such goodies as ingredients for s’more ( to use at the fire pitand other breakfast items. In the fridge, more breakfast items register per room, which was stocked up and filled on our second day as well. The property offers a hot tub which is very clean and easy to use.A wood burning fire pit as well as a gas one. There are common areas- living room with TV and games, kitchen and dining areas, a rap around porch which is lovely to sit on.Will try to upload pictures, but what you see is what you get. And what you get is great.Would highly recommend.
We had a great time staying at Mountain Meadows Inn. We were in the two bedroom Garden Suite and it was perfect for our needs. It was a quiet, very clean and very comfortable place to stay that is close to the Longmire (Nisquallyentrance of Mt. Rainer National Park. The beds were comfortable, there was plenty of hot water, and the suite was very well equipped. We appreciated the high-quality Wi-Fi service which is something that is often lacking in more remote lodges. The area notebook in the room was much appreciated! I can recommend the inn without reservation!
The owners do a great job keeping their resort clean and comfortable! We enjoyed all the extra goodies they stocked the kitchen with. They are super close to the national park.and other hiking trails and activities. They are nestled in the woods. It was fun seeing a bunch of deer in the morning.
Cute little place! Its not flashy, but its totally adorable and a great place to stay near Rainier.
Very close to Mount Rainier. Owner has a very well designed system for covid-19. Very clean and very well organized. We also did a day trip to mount st Helens from here.
Our room was super clean and Comfortable. There we a lot of thoughtful amenities in the room we weren’t expecting but we appreciated. We will be back
Quiet, cozy. Hosts are attentive and informative. Giving great advise on local food and hiking trails. Space to walk onsite.
**I am working up at Paradise to add major carrier cell service.**Comfortable little studio. stayed in the cedar unit. Fantastic price for the off-season. It even has a s’more’s roasting station! I really like that they provide breakfast and other snacks. There were breakfast sandwiches in the freezer and coffee waiting for me for the morning. Yogurt & granola & juice.Microwave, coffeemaker, mini fridge with freezer & toaster. The bed could be updated, (but it had an actual comforter on it. (which I really liked being warm.this place is not flashy but it’s got thoughtful things that make your stay comfortable.I would definitely stay here again.
Perfect combination of price and quality.Close to Mt.Rainier.I liked that this place was very thoughtfully made with many useful little details. But there are no signs of wifi unfirtunately... Or we were not informed which is frustrating.
It was very obvious that the owners care! There was a Christmas tree in our room as well as breakfast in the fridge and things to make Smore’s on the table. Music was playing when we entered. Our stay (garden suitelacked lighting (multiple burned out bulbsand places to set luggage/stuff. Shouldnt have to use bed-floor. Provided food items expired/stale (example was milk with a January expiration in September). Bathroom had NO place to set items down like a toothbrush. Beds were comfortable but we didnt feel comfortable here.
Best kept secret ever. Owners of the place kind and accommodating. They have two houses, perfect for air b&b. Amenities 5 star. Mattress 5 star. Wooded area nostalgic, quiet, serene. Fireside every evening, chat with other roomers, share the kitchen and living area. Huge, rap-around front porch. Minutes from Mt Rainier. Plan to go back and rent the three unit house for family reunion and a couple rooms from house nextdoor and do the Mt Rainier thing. Very popular restaurant few blocks up has the best black berry pie in the world.
Summary: clean, quiet, funky/lovely and given the amenities a good deal1. The grounds are mowed and offer opportunities to enjoy a fire circle (with a built fire ready to light), a bird area, a hot tub grotto where you can sign up for a private hour2. Food available in the room: lots of coffee (no tea), cocoa, juice, yogurt, bagles, cream cheese/butter/peanut butter, popcorn, a somores cooker with all you need, a horrible frozen burito. That is a lot of snacking!3. If you happen to see them in person, the hosts are lovely and helpfulNegatives:1. Hosts dont answer messages2. The inn has wireless but is a phone dead spot3. Appearance of the external hotel is a bit funky5.the rooms not rennovated are funky and not very attractive6. The inn is generally quiet but the building clise to the street has a lot of road noise
First experience with an Air Bnb and they definitely set the standard. Rooms where cozy, snacks where healthy and yummy. Great location as well.
We stayed here for one night. Really worth the money! It is beautiful place. Was super clean and lovely decorated. Very good location if you wanna visit Mt. Ranier. Hosts were very kind, helpful and did everything to make our stay wonderful. Would definitley stay again. Way nicer, cleaner and better service than staying in a big hotel.
Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Plenty of breakfast options and ideal location after hiking at Mt. Rainier.
Great place to stay close to Mt. Rainier national park. Lots of snacks! Enjoyed the hot tub!
I had a great stay here. Super close to the Longmire entrance to Rainier. The Inn itself is great. Its sort of like a BnB except without the awkward commitment to talk to the hosts! I stayed in the Tao Suite. Its very clean, newly redone, and quiet. The kitchen and living area are communal, but the other guests were quiet and respectful as well. I will definitely stay here again. Oh -- comfy bed. And you can control the heat in your room with the baseboard heaters (or leave a window open). No AC but in the PNW in the summertime if you open the window at night its all good. Listening to the birds chirping outside now before I check out :-)
Beautiful B&B in a quiet and peaceful place. The room we stayed in was gorgeous! I love the cozy and cute details from the pillows to the lights. Very clean! Loved the decor! The bed was so comfortable and kept us very warm, since it was pretty cold during our stay. The owners, Chris and Ralph, were super sweet! They made sure we were well taken care of the whole time and always had fresh towels, snacks/food. They left us smores after our hike up the mountain, which was really nice. Mt. Rainier national park is not far, maybe 9 miles down the road. There are stores and places to eat close by, but they close early. Theres a laundry mat really close too. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND staying here!! It felt like a home away from home! I will most definitely stay here when i come back!!
The place is very quiet and clean. The bathroom is outdated. Breakfast is just some stuff in refrigerator, yogurts, microwaveable burrito etc. Mattresses are soft. I would give a fourth star if the room had a cabinet with drawers. It had a cabinet with hangers though.
My wife and I loved this place! It is so charming and and the property is very beautiful. The owners were kind enough to email detailed information about how to find the place and how to get in. So thoughtful! Would highly recommend and definitely stay again.
Convenient location just outside Mount Rainier National Park. Friendly staff, p lots of great snacks and breakfast. Would stay here again for a weekend at Rainer.
Nice rooms, left out helpful notes, left out smore machine and hot cocoa, beautiful pictures all over, warm, everything,we need right here and easy to use.
Christmas Eve Cedar Chalet. What a wonderful place to stay! The thought that went into making our stay memorable was much appreciated. From the hot cocoa + smores makings...to the bagels and breakfast burritos...fresh ground coffee...even a small flashlight near the lockbox. There was even a BOOK made up of everything nearby to check out..trail maps and such. Was truly a delight to be thought of so highly and yet we were left to enjoy all these things without someone"intruding" in. It was like having a fairy Godmother who thought of everything our family of four would need(and then some before we couldEven ask. Perfect!my suggestions: another light in bathroom near shower. And a wall mount for the TV (we improvised with the kitchen table.lol. But those are nothing bad. Just my suggestions. 😊Thank You All and Merry Christmas!(By the way we.loved the hot tub on Xmas morningGorgeous
Pros: Beautiful location, and close to Mount Rainier National Park. Kitchen has everything you need, and there is plenty to read/see/do. Cons: Extremely uncomfortable beds (too firmand flat pillows. Shower curtain rod in our bathroom was on the floor when we arrived and perilously placed for our stay.
Quiet place with very friendly hosts. Great location if you wish to be close to Mt. Rainier. Would highly recommend.
Chris and Ralph are great hosts and the rooms are realy nice, a home away from home . This was our third time here. We celebrated my wifes birthday and Chris and Ralph had a beautiful present for her.
IS THIS ANY WAY TO RUN AN INN?Asked simple question and owner canceled my reservation, so never got to experience his bed and breakfast inn. Assumed because I asked to clarify cancellation/refund of deposit policies that it would more beneficial to him to cancel my booking 24 hours after I had made the reservation. He didnt even inform me that he was going to do this before contacting the travel firm. Claimed it would be a win-win for both of us. Not so, I had searched and searched for a room in a high traffic area, peak tourist season, at a budget I could afford. Plus I was trying to put together a business trip to the area where arrangements need to be made far in advance. Very poor customer service that has put damper on planned visit to Mt Rainier area.
This was a beautiful B&B. We loved the room and the grounds. They thought of everything and my wife said "I would love to come back here".
Very nice quarters and owners were very helpful in getting us into our rooms. We are going to hike around Rainier and this was the perfect spot to rest up and sleep, especially with the better rates compared to places a little closer to the park!
My fiance and I stayed at Mountain Meadows Inn for two nights and had an amazing time. Relaxing comfortable rooms, beautiful grounds, and friendly service. The breakfast items were great! Organic burritos, bagels/muffins and yogurt. Our room was comfortable and clean. We will definitely be back again. Thank you!
The room and kitchen were really nice, but our bed was really creaky. Overall it was a nice place to stay.
We stayed in the Trillium Suite which is in the "Historic Inn" building, which is a two-bedroom one story house. It had the feel of staying at someones home, with just one other room for rent in the building. It was nice to have access to the kitchen and breakfast items at whatever time we needed them. The bathroom and tub were very nice and there were high quality bath products. The only detractors were that our bed was very noisy and tended to sink in, and the room didnt have a reading lamp. I would come stay here again as it was a good value for the price.
Very nice and friendly place with very kind and helpful hosts. Its a pity but our room was not at all save for our 11 months old son, because a lot of cables (wifi, tv antennas, power extensions, etc.were laying on the floor. Unfortunately this could not be fixed because the main wifi signal came from transmitters in our room... Phew, not sure about electric pollution here.
Mountain Meadows Inn is a quaint B&B located 10 minutes from the Nisqually entrance of Mt. Raininer. It is owned by Ralph and Chris, who are wonderful hosts and were eager to hear about our plans and how they could accommodate us. Our room had a binder that detailed all of the nearby restaurants and attractions with a little review for each one. It also included a thorough guide for visitors of the national park. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to stay near Mt. Rainier.
We had a lovely stay, the owners are amazing. Gorgeous rooms, huge hot breakfast, and a hot tub outdoors to relax in at night... We will return!
My wife and I stayed at this amazing B&B for a few nights while we explored Mount Rainier. The owners, Ralph and Chris, are a great couple - very friendly and funny.Their property is rather large, with two buildings (main house and a smaller house that has been converted into separate suites), three fire pits (perfect for relaxing and roasting some marshmallows!and a hot tub.We got a small tour of the house and got to see all the of the rooms - every one of them had its own charm, and the beds were very comfortable. They make a really good breakfast in the mornings, everything you need to fuel up for a trip into the park, and I doubt anyone could get up from the table and have any room left. All in all, a great B&B and well be going back every time we go to Mount Rainier!
