Mortimer House Kitchen in Charef
Description
Privilege
Ambiance and food was very good, but sadly had to mark down for a few misdemeanours.Got one of our orders completely wrong, then Rostock missing from breakfast, and then no apology when getting bill for mistakes. Didn’t seem bothered really, not what you expect from a more sophisticated eatery.
MoreIm giving 2 stars because of the set-up, the place has really nice interior and looks amazing, however, I had one of the worst experiences there in terms of service. After ordering 2x Eggs Benedict and 2 Coffees, we were constantly reminded by the person serving us that we should get something more or leave (indirectly of course but you get the point), which was really bad experience if I have to be honest. On the other hand, food and coffee was fantastic, I would give 5 stars if the person serving us was nice.
MoreOK, I want to clarify. The table service was so good the gentleman whos served the table is Murad. However, the welcoming was not up to the standard. The lady at the reception (entrance} really need to make sure the guest is welcomed. I asked if I can set outside and she said no, with out any courtesy, or even say oh sorry we can not. She didnt even give an option to choose which table I want, even when she offers the table she didnt ask which side I prefer. It like this is what we have and I just need to take it. Didnt offer to take the coat, it seems she is not happy doing this work. At the end when I was leaving the waiter had to help with the bill and coat as she was busy talking with other guests. Really not professional. It seems that based on her mood how she deals with guests. On the other hand, the waiter, Murad was so welcoming and accommodating. When I sat on the table I had a second thought to leave. Then he came and he was so nice if felt OK I will order. He was serving nearly all tables with such a kind smile. The place is lovely, food is good.Thank you for your consideration as welcoming is the first impression about the place in total and it will defined the experience.
MoreFantastic service, and wonderful atmosphere - especially in that sun room further in the restaurant. But I was so disappointed with my food, and I got the house breakfast.
MoreLovely like always. I love the interior design, the atmosphere and of course the food the excellent!
MoreLoved the whole experience at Mortimer House Kitchen. From ambiance to food it was a delight. We popped in for brunch and both ordered the full breakfast. Everything in the dish was excellently executed from the poached eggs to the black pudding and the roasted tomatoes.Comfortable setting with a mix of dining tables and more lounge type seating in a modern setting with nods to the elegance of the 1920s. Absolutely looking forward to returning.
MoreLimited options for vegetarians, bland food, dessert options were uninspired and the churros we ordered were raw in the middle but burnt outside, they kept forgetting orders so the service was bad to for the most part. Ambiance was good though but thats about it
MoreMy go to spot - any day for any meal. They have a fresh and seasonal menu that is delicious for break, brunch, lunch, dinner or just drinks! The open space is inviting, upscale yet causal. There is a living room lounge space or the restaurant. Both are lovely!Highly recommend for small and large groups!
MoreTuesday night birthday dinner was impeccable in every way, our waitress was lovely, the food was divine and the space is gorgeous.
MoreI really enjoyed the atmosphere and the interior decor of the restaurant. It feels quite fancy being inside the restaurant and surprisingly, the prices are pretty reasonable. I do think the portions for the Eggs benedict are a bit small but the quality definitely makes up for it. From the perfectly cooked poached egg to the freshness of the toppings, everything was contributing to the dish nicely. My only complaint was that it was a bit too salty for me but that is probably just for me.
MoreVery nice restaurant. It has a cosy setting and a beautiful open plan kitchen. The menu has a nice selection of food. Staff was friendly and attentive. I would come back.
MoreWe enjoyed the brunch here mid-week, and I was pretty impressed with the options and the spread! The food was tasty, coffee was pretty decent & I enjoyed having a quieter space to hang with friends as we broke bread. I opt’d for the larger cooked breakfast - and it didn’t disappoint. Could have come with bacon, but saying that - I didn’t feel like I went without. See you guys again soon!
MoreDelicious meal and cocktails. Attentive service. Desserts were a bit plain.
Very cosy good WiFi - good place for remote work with quick water refills and tasty food. Staff are very friendly. Would go again if in the area.
MoreThe food was great. I loved the French toast. The toast with the cream was amazing and the fruit were super fresh. The salmon was very high quality. I recommend to ask for wall done scrambled eggs. They were too raw for us. Everyone was nice. A great place for a good breakfast.
MoreThe best chicken Caesar salad!
Nice place for dinning in. Its usually not crowded So its perfect to enjoy nice conversations and food with friends.
MoreI absolutely love the atmosphere. Perfect place for having a coffee and finishing your book. The food is just fine so giving 4 stars.
MoreStylisch and nice looking restaurant! Good food, but some dishes could have been flavored a little bit more. But apart from that you can totally recommend it!
Moreamazing food visuals and a comfortable eating experience 💖 food wise: the potatoes were ❤️🔥🥵🤙 the mains (especially the cauliflowerwere quite salty and dessert was a bit disappointing
MoreWonderful venue for corporate events. The venue is multi-faceted and accommodated our group of 15-50 for a pre-event dinner, full day event program and post-event drinks reception. A beautifully curated menu was supported by a tremendous Event Ops team who did everything necessary to enable a brilliant event. You cant go wrong with MHK as a venue for intimate business events!
MoreDelicious food, cocktails and wonderful ambience. The lobster and crab ravioli with lobster bisque was just right, not too rich, chicken beautifully tender. Personally I thought the carrot starter stood out, as asparagus was a little too salty for my taste.
MoreThe menu is fairly limited. Food was ok (have eaten much better for the price), ambience was nice and service was excellent
MoreSimply put- fine dining at its finest 🤌🏻 impeccable service, delicious cuisine at very affordable price considering the location. Can’t wait to get back here again 😍
MoreThe entire staff body at Mortimer House are the friendliest and least snobby in town! From front of house to kitchen... Doesnt matter how busy or quiet they are, they are always great. We visited MHK at lunchtime and had the Sea Bream with Asparagus which was cooked to perfection and was super tasty. Our cocktails (Verve and Margarita, were delicious). Seriously couldnt fault this visit at all. 5*
MoreFood was highly salty to the point we couldnt finish it. We had to wait a long time for service and we are highly appreciative that it was the waitresses first day on the job, but they spilled a good portion of our wine bottle and did not make any attempt to comp us for the mistake. Overall was highly disappointed walking into the restaurant.
MoreWe needed a place to eat before heading to regents street cinema and decided on Mortimer house just moments away, my first time there and the staff greeted us warmly. The starters, mains and deserts, all were extremely tasty, quality and presentation excellent. 💯..We hope to visit again sometime soon, well done guys 💪🏽🙏🏽👍🏽
MoreFab food! The pork belly was fantastic as was the Mac n cheese. Great decor and ambiance and really attentive staff. The perfect Sunday lunch and we rolled out the door! Will def be back and will recommend to others. Thank you Mortimer House team!
MoreFabulous dining here tonight, food & table staff just perfect, excellent all round.
MoreWe ordered the sweet potato pancakes and shakshuka wifh coffee and the acai smoothie! It was all perfect, really tasty, lovely service and the ambience was great. Definitely coming back here for the brunch.
MoreI came here for brunch on a Saturday morning with three friends. Its in a great central location but just outside the bustle of Oxford Street. The atmosphere was relaxing and cosy. Even though the place filled up quickly, it wasnt loud. The service was excellent, staff were polite and attentive. The food was decently priced for the area and you could tell the ingredients were good quality. The eggs were fresh and poached perfectly. If youre looking for a fry up and huge portion sizes then this place isnt for you. But if youre looking for quality, a range of healthy choices and a nice place to catch up with friends then definitely come here. Will definitely be back!
MoreEnjoyed my lunch this afternoon! The grain bowl was lovely, a range of flavours, loved the carrots and beetroots. The side dish of creamy spicy hummus with tangy wild mushrooms was glorious too. A shame they didn’t serve complimentary bread with the hummus.
MoreI loveeee this place , among my fav in london. The service is always impeccable ans the food is delicious. Always a pleasure to come by
MoreVery nice restaurant with a great vibe... Main course portions could be bigger.
Malaysian pop up restaurant - for only 2 days, we were lucky to secure a booking on a Saturday - food was out of this world, and the service was exceptional as well. Standout was the braised pork belly, softest juiciest melt in your mouth kind. I highly recommend this pop up restaurant and would happy dine where you open up shop!
MoreExcellent food in a lovely and classy colonial style setting. Beautifully done vegetable starters were the particular standout
MoreI had a lovely dinner with a friend here. The food is absolutely delicious, perfect for sharing. The service is great, and the staff are all very friendly. I also really loved the interior design of the place! Highly recommended, and will definitely go back there myself.
MoreWent yesterday to enjoy the brunch and I really enjoyed it.The place is very fancy and elegant. Nice and tidy with very friendly service. The food was very good, and portions were alright. We really loved the burned carrots with goat cheese! We will definitely come back!
MoreMortimer House Kitchen is a great place to eat, hangout and relax. The food is delicious, staff are very nice and atmosphere is fantastic. We had a great brunch in the weekend and spent 3 lovely hours there. Loved my French Toast.
MoreVisited on a Monday night with the family. We were in the neighborhood and I’ve always wanted to try it. They gave us a nice table and the staff was friendly and attentive. Delicious beet tortellini dinner with a balsamic glaze. Heirloom tomatoes drizzled in fruity extra virgin olive oil made for a nice side dish. Lovely atmosphere. Wonderful service. Nice wine selection. Recommend.
MoreA little Mediterranean and Aegean, a little inspired by Middle Eastern cuisine. All these cuisens are blended in Mortimer House Kitchen. It is a place where you can eat tahini with aburgine next to Italian pasta. Also I recommend their tiramisu which is quite balanced sugar and cream. Also staff are very kind and friendly.
MoreAmazing place with excellent service. Very tasty food, especially lobster and deserts. One of the best Sunday lunch in central London. Impressed in my first visit.Good atmosphere and nice people around. Totally recommended! Thinking to have a membership, would like to know conditions))thanks a lot
MoreHad a lovely evening here with attentive staff who weren’t pretentious. The atmosphere was super relaxed, lovely mix of luxe and mid century modern interiors and the food was delicious too! Not 5 stars because the green tomatoes were just unripe and raw as opposed to actual green tomatoes.
MoreMy partner managed to find the Library and Den room private dinner area of this place with a guest chef. The place wasn’t busy at all as I don’t think people know about it yet. The menu is small but everything on it was delicious. I had the chowder and smoked lobster a and both were to die for. Not too salty as I’ve been to a lot of restaurants that over salt. The flavours of each food tray shine through and it was delicious. I had an apple pie for dessert and it was delicious too but was quite full by then to appreciate it all. It also came with onion broche and omg, it was soooooooo goooooooood. My partner has a sight intolerance for garlic and onion and they remembered after we ordered and came out with different options to what he could eat. So they are well catered for intolerances.
MoreLovely lunch. Went for a medium plate and it was ample for lunch. Great spritz menu too
MoreWe ended up here while going somewhere else, and we jumped inside because the place looked nice as well as the dishes listed in the menu. The person in charge wasnt the nicest, but the waiters made our experience much better.About the food, in general it was okay, the ravioli probably were the best in my opinion. Also, dont be surprised if you think the chicken is undercooked (pink/raw close to the bones), as we were told that it was intended to be that way. Again in my opinion, a small mistake.Maybe its also worth trying the cheese-less cheesecake, that is a different dish that weve never found somewhere else.As a summary, the food was good enough, but I think its not worth the money, as the place is pricey.
MoreChilled and relaxed and not trying to be something it’s not - great food, really good service and a relaxing atmosphere almost like you’re having dinner at home chilled out! Worth going!
MoreAmazing atmosphere & lovely food!We hosted a Breakfast Club in one of the beautiful private rooms and the food, service and atmosphere was just superb! We had so much fun! Thanks for making us feel so at home.
MoreI really like the decor, styling and ambience here. Whilst open plan in layout it does have a home-like vibe with personal dining space at the rear of the restaurant and an open view kitchen. Very LA.I had the Maslows Cheeseburger and chips. It was a good burger with crispy bacon, however the food presentation has declined in a few months. The chips used to be stacked which gave the plate some wow factor, now they are just loaded on the side. You get better presentation at Bryon or GBK. I hope this is improved.
MoreMortimer House reminded me of The Chiltern Firehouse, Dean Street Townhouse & Soho Farmhouse all rolled into one. Its like all the best components of each of these fabulous places in a single entity. My only regret is that when the news of this place gets out , I’ll have to wait eight weeks to get a table. This place really is better then anything I can put into words.
