Monumento A Jose Maria Morelos - Monument in Paracho de Verduzco, Mexico
I love this place
A wonderful place to spend a day with family or friends. Great views.
Words cannot properly describe the incredible experience of watching the monument slowly come into view as your boat approaches the island.
I really liked this place and the rich history behind it and Dia de Los Muretos. Unfortunately, it has become very commercialized. That is good for the local people but we like off the beaten path type experiences. It is worth the trip though. I would not visit again but Im glad I visited this time.
ITS always good to achieve the top of the island ! Beautiful views and great food around. There are some Profesionals dancing"LA Danza de los viejitos" we went with family and we enjoyed the place
Beautiful place
Great view at the top of the monument. Admission is $10 pesos - 25/05/2022
Beautiful place to visit lots of arts and crafts, alot of gifts to buy for family and friends
Its a good place to visit and learn Morelos life.
Be ready to walk incline is no joke wear gym clothes and comfy shoes with good grip. Bathrooms at the top and bottom bring water or just buy some plenty of shops.
Beautiful island with top spot near this monument. Great souvenir cups with michelada 😁👍
It was a great trip, there are a lot of stairs so be ready to walk them.
Awesome island!! Lots of shops and friendly people. Shop around, every shop has their own pricing.
Beautiful and traditional city in Island to spend great time with family & friends.Must try to heights of statue to visit entire lake view. Too many shops and restaurants.
The view was nice but the top was a very crammed space. The whole has an additional MXN$10 entrance fee.
Loved it went in the afternoon and it was almost empty went all the way to the top in no time
Very interesting place. You can go upstairs beyond the main room and reach a sight wide-view balcony at the top of the arm
Great place to visit, since I went after holly week is really great, pretty much the whole place to myself
Skip this island, it is a tourist trap.It is billed as an island populated only by indigenous people selling their artisanal crafts. Perhaps in in the past it was. Now it is an island full of your typical Mexican tourist items than can be bought anywhere and are most likely made in China, t-shirts, mugs, shot glasses, caps, etc.First you take a ferry that costs 100p per person. As you approach the island, there is a group of fisherman pretending to fish to put on a show for you. After they wave their nets around for a few seconds, a pair of "tradition" canoe looking boats, made out of fiberglass, breaks off and proceeds down either side collecting tips. The fisherman have learned that they can make more money posing for pictures than fishing. After docking you start walking up the different steep alleys, lined side to side, top to bottom with your typical tourist paraphernalia with a continual chorus of barkers trying to lure you into their shop or restaurants. At the top, for another small fee, you can pass through the gates to take in the view of the statue of Morelos. The island is just an outdoor market with nothing redeeming or authentic about it.
I do love these monuments its huge and on the top of Janitzio Island so it has an incredible view .
1st time visiting. The parking lot was large and cost 50 pesos to park. The cost of the trip (boatwas 700 pesos for a family. (There were 9 of usBoat ride took 30 minutes to the island, and we asked them to pick us up at 6 pm. We went on a Tuesday to avoid the crowds. At the island, there are many children asking for $, which by the end of the day was just annoying at that point. There are so many shops and cute items. Once they hear you speak another language, they tend to up the price. I shopped around and looked for the lowest price since the shops tend to have the same items. 10 pesos is to get into the monument area once you arrive on top. The view was nice and overall good time.
$100pesos the boat to Janitzio (round). $10 pesos the entrance to the monument. $50pesos my drink 😁 Besides the stairs to get to the top, add 6 flights of stairs to get to Morelos fist. The walls are covered with murals and history scrips which made the climb little less intensive. The view is impressive at the top.
Very beautiful place, I recommend it to every tourist
Learn the history of Morelos as you walk up. Top is very small. Long wait and short time at top
It was a nice little adventure and a nice plce to visit
Absolutely beautiful place to visit. If you are around the area come visit this island. Many restaurants to choose from, fresh drinks, alcohol for adults & the trip up to the monument is worth it.
Una experiencia inolvidable. An unforgettable experience. Super dope. Only reason i wouldnt give it 5 stars is because the people there are aggressive sellers, they almost harass.
The climb is high and hard but the view is amazing!
Nice. Tall. Worth the visit. Loved the 360 views from everywhere on top. The only thing i didnt like is all the vendors they allow up there.
One of my favorite places to visit was Janitzio. Dont hesitate to go. This monument is gorgeous. Worth the hike up.
the place is very nice, unfortunately it is full of garbage. It is necessary that they put some cans for the waste, and that tourists are more responsible and respectful and do not leave their garbage on the floor.
The monument and surrounding area has great potential as an attraction, but in reality it’s quite dirty and unkempt. The island of Janitzio itself is extremely neglected with derelict buildings and lots of rubbish. It’s famous cemetery looks more like a garbage dump. Other than tacky tourist junk, the island has little to offer. Very disappointing.Such a terrible shame that a place of such cultural and historic importance is not better cared for.The people are absolutely lovely.
This monument is in the isle of Janitzio. You can make it there in a ferry at 100pesos per person but dont eat anywhere near there take a 30min drive to Zirahuen and eat gloriously lakefront super inexpensive
Nice island. Lots of stores and stairs. Nice attractions/island to visit.
Great adventure getting there, climbing to the top while reading the time line with drawing and tales of the events. Once on top you can over look and see the size of the lake. Awesome view.
Its quite a hike to get here...but if you do, the view will more than make it worth the sweat ! Make sure you wear comfortable footwear before making the climb!
Que lugar mas hermoso. A cute small island where you learn more about the culture and richness. They have a small museum and the beautiful monument of Jose Morelos statue seen all the way in the top.
Just because its on top of the island dont feel like you have to go in it, look g impressive though!
Horrible food I recommend eating outside of there, also bring a good pair of shoes and have a person go with you because the stairs are very steep and small, be ready to walk 300+ stairs, also you pay to see the statue so prepare for that also. Next time for me I will find the other way on my own because the merchants will try to make you go through the stairs to buy things.
Nice place to visit,, if you are looking for gifts and climb tons of steps
Pretty nice place to travel too. Dont be afraid of heights if you plan on going in the statue lol however they do have people that will help you down should you get stuck up there and cant want down because of vertigo
Worth the trip up those stairs...the inside of the monument needs some retouching, but you can still get a very good feel of the history of Morelos...take the boat ride you wont regret it...would guess its like going to Catalina island, but in Mexico.
Best place for an adventure, it has a long zipline that takes you to another island in 2 minutes
Nice place to visit. Youll need about two to three hours to enjoy the island, plus lunch time. You can walk the island on the "long way" (aroundor you can climb the stairs on the "short way" (up/down). There are a lot of places to buy and to eat, very reasonable prices. For the Morelos monument youll pay a small fee and walk up to the wrist of Morelos, beautiful view. Inside the monument there are a lot of history paintings (muralsin very good condition. If you go on the holidays or weekends try to go early to avoid waiting time.
Great view. Fascinating that the local people speak their prehispanic language.
Emblematic place in Janitzio, Ive been there more than 3 times. Janitzio its super beautiful and worths every visit, I recommend to go there for sure. We went inside the monument but since was high season for tourist the wait was long to go to the top, I recommend to go to the top only if the wait looks short, if the wait looks long you better spend that time in another thing like go walking around or eat in a local restaurant.
Theres a great view from the top and the inside is decorated. Theres a lot of history inside but all in Spanish so unfortunately I couldnt read it.
Its a good hike to the top, but definitely worth the effort, loved it.
This enormous monument sits on top of the island of Janitzio and its beautiful. Surprisingly, its hollow. The inside is covered in murals and you can walk to the top and look out from the "head" I didnt get to do so because of how many people were present on that day. You need to be here early if you want to reach the top.
Its a great experience. You have to take a boat to go there from Patzcuaro and the trip takes 10 minutes. Once in the island, you have take the stairs to the top, where the monument of Benito Juarez is. Take some time to appreciate the local crafts, although these are not the best quality you could find some good deals if you are interested.
