Monoloco Antigua - Bar & grill in Chimaltenango, Guatemala
Chill, cool and nice place to eat delicious and take drinks with friends
Excellent place for Happy Hours..
Great food and drinks
The prices here are pretty high for the quality of food you are getting. The nachos are just okay especially for $25 and none of the dishes are particularly good. 10% gratuity is also included, which is not particularly common in the area. I would definitely recommend going to another restaurant in the area if you want better food.
The nachos are HUGE! For the price, one would expect homemade chips. They are not. Disappointing.
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff
A little more pricey than other options but good bar food. Not very crowded on Saturday night.
Delightful and full plated food. For the area, it is a bit expensive. An experience that is catered to visitors from The States (all TVs only in English and with baseball game times written up front for when the game will be on).
I watched the Arkansas Razorbacks in the College World Series there this week. Yes, I got a little crazy and enthusiastic but tonight it all turned out amazing as my nephew was the winning pitcher! Whooooo Pigs Soooooie!!
Always a cool play to visit in Antigua.
They dont have same prices as the city. Seems they jack them in this location. Also, Smoking isnt allowed in open space 2nd floor area. Thats why we left lol
Love this restaurant! I go every time Im in Guatemala. Best nachos on the planet!
Ordered a Bloody Mary, came out of a pre mixed jug. Inedible… ordered a margarita, so sour couldn’t drink it, asked for more sweetener, and it came back way to sweet. Don’t come here for cocktails. Was charged full price .
Too pricy and quality of food is poor, place is loud and not comfy. Not recommended
Great place to dine in and watch a game.
Nice atmosphere ... food was very, very good and the Gallo Beer was sooo cold 🥶 and soooo good !
We enjoyed the food, the service and sports on TV
Great place, lots of space and good food options. Menu is a good combination of American style food and some local stuff.
had chicken wings, they were better last time, but I guess that happens everuywhere
Customer service on point. Loved the food.If you are looking for a place to watch the NFL, NBA or any game to is the place to go.
I came to Monoloco in 2008 and enjoyed it. I came by Antigua with a friend ans stopped to show him the place : it was exactly the same as 13 years ago. That is called standardization, something every restaurant owner should know about.
We were sat then ignored for 15 minutes. Flagged down a server to put in a drink order. Drinks came fast. Finished drinks. Waited another 15 minutes for the server to come back. Finally flagged down another server and asked for the check. There was an equal number of customers as wait staff yet service was non-existent.Save your time and visit the gift shop and skip this place unless you are super stoked for the Guatemalan version of Chilis and indifference.
Food wise its not great better off with the local food. Atmosphere is nice a lot of locals here but Id rather eat at a tacobell .
Good atmosphere; neither cheap nor expensive. Helpful staff. Does "bar" food - dont expect anything fancy.
Nachos to die for! Huge and delicious portions.
I was told it was kinda cheap, which I was looking forward to, but what I didn’t realize is it was kinda a place you would go with lots of people, and get a big meal that you could all share. So it’s only really cheap if you are going to go with a group. Also it was pretty hard to find a clear menu, which was a bit frustrating.
Dont bother. The pub style food was decent quality but will arrive cold... if you get it at all. Truly terrible service.
This place is amazing. Great food, great service, the nachos dish is epic and huge and the wings are perfect. All the appetizers we had were great and the burgers were just as equally great. The Monkey Punch is so good and the mojitos were good too. Greta place for friends and even kids. Apparently you can watch a football (Americangame and basically any sports game. Just ask the servers and theyll find it. This place is definitely true to the "sports bar" venue.
Its a great place where you have good food for a good price. Right in the heart of Antigua and for sure one of the better restaurants in the area. Its a bit dark what gives the feeling of an Irish pub. What for me is a good thing, the only minus is they dont have Guinness but than again I diddnt find it anywhere in Guatemala. They do have a Belgian beer, Stella Artois and one from Holland. Downstairs you will find a little store as well where you can buy T-shirts and some other things from the restaurant, off course with the monkey logo. If Im ever in Antigua again I wont hesitate to go back there. 🙈🙉🙊
Great service, good menu choices and HUGE portions. My meal lasted two days. They had some of the best guacamole ever!! 👌🏽 I took a pic; it was not the best, however the food/ burrito was messy yet delicious. Yum.
Great spot for watching sports, particularly American sports. Its pretty English-friendly. Nachos are good, though they only come in a large size that needs to be shared between multiple people.
Really cool place to have drinks, appetizers and food. Had the onion rings they were really good lightly battered but cooked perfectly. Also had a burrito shareable size for sure. It was delicious and our server was super attentive even though he was super busy. Will have to come back to try the nachos everyone recommends!
Just try the nachos (really bigand go with 3 or 4 friends. Won’t regret. Artesanal beer and a variety of drinks offered.
Cool vibrant place right across the park. Good drinks. Pet friendly.
Fun, trendy spot with lots of room for big groups, TVs, and music. Famous for their ridiculous nachos.
Good food, fast service, comfortable atmosphere. Serving sizes are very large. Has an American sports bar feel. The second floor has a nice breeze coming through, downstairs is a bit more stuffy.
Taken here by work colleagues for a post-dinner drink. Essentially a sports bar (lots of TVswith simple food (huge portionsand an excellent range of beers.Small downstairs but cavernous upstairs. Servers were friendly and it seemed like a good place to hang out with a large group. For a Tuesday evening it was very quiet - apparently the mayor is trying to get places to close early to discourage young, drunken fun. Doesn’t seem like a good plan to me!
Not bad, I had the Nachos and they were huge. I like the blend of flavors. Would like to try something else when I go back.
So I went with a buddy of mine to have a few beers. I ended up ordering a bucket of Gallo beer. The price was fine but that upset me was that our waiter never came back to check on us. I wanted to order food or more drinks but they never asked. Finally I flat down someone that works there to ask for the bill. When they bring me the bill they added 10% gratuity. For what? Bring me a bucket? Never asking if I wanted anything else? I ended up talking it over with my buddy and at that point the waiter wouldn’t even leave our side. Like now that I have to fork over cash, now they’re interested. All in all, HORRIBLE service.
Excellent place to grab a bite and drink and watch a game. Dont be shy when walking up to this place. Its kind of hidden, but huge once up the stairs. One small note though: portions are huge, even though they will tell you its just find for two. Its not. Way too much and straight to the dumpster. A shame.
Decent amounts of TVs to watch the game on. Good bar food, great portions, and reasonable prices on beer (best to go on special days). When Im in town looking to watch the Ravens, Ill come here!
Feels like a tourist cave.. You enter the place and all you see is screens showing football and baseball along loud rock music. Not a bad thing, though if one comes all the way to Antigua then why not going to local place?Had the fiesta nachos which was fun, though over packed with lettuce, not enough cheese and beans (no beans at all actually).Doesnt know if the nachos is worth coming especially.
Great to watch NFL football however, over priced for the area and no deals on NFL Sunday’s. No bueno. The onion ring tower I ordered was good until I bit into the peel of an onion, that was weird. Anyways, good spot for games, servers are a little pushy about ordering stuff and will try to get you to order more etc. basic money making situation. Come for happy hour.
Nachos were delicious and huge! Easily fed four people.
We had the best time and the food was great
Best nachos Ive ever had you must have them! The other food is great too prices are great and plenty of drinks to choose from. Service is great everyone is very nice definitely will be back!
Fantastic place. Beautiful bar...friendly staff!
The ambient is nice, ideal for a couple of drinks, but it wasnt a good experience for me and me friends. The service here sucks. Even when there isnt a lot of people you must wait long periods of time. You can see the waiters talking with their friends (i assumeand when their friends leave they bring your order.
Great place!!!! So much to do
The bar is very good for watching American football, and other sports on TV. Food is a bit pricey, but portions are large. I recommend the Jameson, as it is only 20q a shot, such a great deal. Sweet potato fries are excellent as well.
