Mongolian BBQ - Mongolian barbecue restaurant in Bend, United States
Mongolian BBQ in Bend
Description
Privilege
The sandwiches were mostly bread & lettuce. Hardly any meat, cheese was a little crusty and there service was very slow!
MoreThought we give this place a try , and were very dissatisfied! The food is very flavorless, low quality, no extras whatsoever, and they give you the sauces and packets.
MoreNice workers but very slow service. Took 45 minutes at about 40% capacity. Drinks came after food arrived. Appetizers did not come until staff was reminded after the rest of our food arrived. Cost was also a little expensive. Food was good, but not great.
MoreIve been here twice, 2 or 3 yrs apart. 1st time was ok, standard Mongolian BBQ practices - but they use so much water to cook the meat, they might as well just boil it and it turns out chewy and flavorless. 2nd time was during COVID, practices are obviously different and they have new staff. This time, the grill pilot light went out and they couldnt figure out how to turn it back on, had to call the owner. Then they didnt wait for the grill to properly preheat before adding the food, and on top of that - more water!! Chewy, steamed meat with no flavor cause they wash it all off while their cooking it! And the lady at the counter didnt change her gloves the whole time I was there. She also told us she was going to refund our money because of the grill situation and then didnt. But the bubble tea is good. I recommend the coconut flavor with strawberry bubbles and tapioca boba.
MoreThe food was great! The food here is a nice change of pace from other offerings in Central Oregon. Because the food is made to order without a set menu, you only get what you want. I had hot and spicy food. It tasted great and had plenty of heat (dont worry, it can be as bland or spicy as you wish). The offerings will fit anyones food preferences. Vegan, vegetarian, carnivore, or combination, you will find food that you can enjoy! The staff was very upbeat and helpful. They loaded my bowl higher than I would have myself (more food). The dining room is open with plenty of seating. I am grateful they are open.We traveled over twenty miles to eat there and it was well worth it!
MoreThe atmosphere and decorations nice, but the food was, frankly, straight-up terrible. The service wasnt too terrible and was prompt, but one of our four orders was made incorrectly. After seeing other reviews this appears to be a recurring theme. The Mongolian BBQ sauce was extremely sweet and four bites in, it was actively difficult to want to continue eating. There is way too much of it. There was a decent amount of meat in the dish, but I picked out a few pieces of beef that were way too tough and should not have been put into the dish-- likely endpieces.I wont be coming back. This saddles the line between a one- and two-star review and I usually only give one-star reviews to actively terrible restaurants.
MoreNot happy. Food no taste flavor less. Checked the items I wanted only got 1/2. They gave my shrimp to some other table.that didnt even order. This place has gone down the tube. Will never be back
MoreI used to love this place. Decided to go here after Covid19, and now they make the bowls for you. This is unfortunate because they forget to add enough oils to give the food flavor. Tastes like a Wok that forgot everything that makes it good. Very sad to see this, but just got the food home and am not going to finish it.
MoreBecause of Covid 19, our meals were put together by the staff. When my brother was served, it did not have hardly any meat in it, and he asked for 4 kinds of meat. They redid it, it still didnt have a lot of meat and he got a watered down meal with hardly any flavor. He didnt complain the second time, because he was so hungry. There were only 2 male employees there and there should have been more help. My husbands meal and mine were pretty good.
MoreUPDATE: This was apparently 1 new employee not a store policy. You can call in an order for pick up. Which is wonderful given we work in the same complex and love doing business with other small businesses!ORIGINAL REVIEW: I tried to call and place an order for a couple of appetizers that I wanted to pick up up. I was told you cant call in an order to pick up food here! They wont do it. That is the strangest thing for a quick restaurant who wants to make money, hopefully they will consider changing this. The sign even says "Carry Out"
MoreSo disgusting. Used to be really good when I went 5+ years ago but not anymore. The rice tasted stale and chewy. The potstickers were bland, no flavor the texture of cardboard. The food tasted old and gross. I wouldn’t eat here again if you paid me.
MoreIve been going to this restaurant this I was 2 years old the former owners knew my family and me by heart. Im so glad to see with the transfer of ownership that still hasnt changed. The new renovations really brighten the restaurant and food is always fantastic. Being able to combine as many vegetables, meats and sauces always allows for favor combinations unique to each person. Keep up the good work!
MoreClean, very laid back, always decorated tastefully, dont like that they charge for the pancakes or that you have to get your own water. Other than that, its perfect.11/30: tried delivery using door dash. Items that I did NOT select were in my bowl. Specifically noodles. 99% of my dish was noodles! I never asked for noodles, it was not noted in description. I do not like noodles. I was unable to pick out my requested ingredients from around the noodles. Such a waste. The crab rangoon was perfect but it will be a bit before I order again. Spent 16$ + delivery to have to toss it.
MoreMongolian BBQ has excellent Ingredients, the staff is very pleasant, the layout is comfortable, inviting and open. The restaurant is clean and tidy. The only things I think they could Improve would be the furniture( it is a bit to simpleand their sign is a bit too bland.
MoreAlways fresh food and clean. Great quiet atmosphere to just eat and relax. They also have crafted beers on tap. Customer service is exceptional.
MoreThe hostess wouldnt speak to begin. Was given a dirty bowl for 11$ (their cheapest optionto put food that was far from fresh into and make sure you absolutely drench it in sauce so the cook can wash it all away with endless water. It still ends up being a salty mess of random food items that you have to stuff into a small bowl of disappointment and cry while you wonder what you could have done with that 11$
MoreGreat place for some yummy Mongolian BBQ. Friendly, fun, inviting atmosphere and the owner is fun to talk to! Decor is bright and fresh! Food is great!
MoreNot a typical Mongolian bbq restaurant. It is not buffet style. They charge you by the size of bowl. They have some very weird options such as pepperoni, and sausage. The sauces are somewhat traditional, but have several missing from what youd expect.I would not return if I was in the area, just didnt net my expectations. The staff were friendly though.
Morenot what I was expecting.visiting from Portland and this is the first Mongolian place Ive been to that isnt unlimited trips.one trip, one bowl.no complimentary rice, wraps or ice cream.the service is okay and its clean enough, others have mentioned watered down sauce during cooking and while I didnt witness it it sure appeared that way. no real complaints about the place as a whole thats why Im giving 3 but it would be higher if it was cheaper or you could have unlimited bowls even in one trip.thing is meat takes up a lot of space but cooks down quite a bit,i dont want to rant too long but its not uncommon for unlimited to be $12 where here one trip is $8-16, and it doesnt seem like theres table bussing.food for thought
MoreVery clean and tidy nice people BUT the jalapeños are not fresh and the pineapple wasn’t sweet. They also don’t give you chili sauce with your rice for carry out items. For many people this doesn’t matter however this made me not want to come back. 3 is fair!
MoreThe food is fresh and the variety of food is good. This is a great place for the whole family to enjoy a healthy bowl of their own design.
MoreBlah. Ive eaten there three times over the past ten years. Most recently within the past two weeks, 3/27/ 2019 today. I wish they had a sauce combination menu as some other Mongolian BBQs Ive been to do. I left unsatisfied each time.
MoreStarted eating here a long long time ago. Have been faithful customers two decades but since the new owners have taken over....This place is gross. The last 3 times we have come in we have been handed DIRTY bowls to fill from the cashier. Food scattered everywhere (yes I understand that its buffet). All of the sauces are cross contaminated. Hot pepper sauce in the oils. Garlic in everything. Noodles and other assorted food items in the oil and sauces. They are adding wayyyyyyy too much water to the food and killing all the flavor that you add leaving the food bland at best. Some of our meat wasnt cooked all the way including my pork. I do not eat nuts (and thank god Im not allergicbecause no one in my party ate nuts and yet somehow even though I was the last one to have my food cooked I ended up with peanuts in bowl. One cook trying to maintain a grill where two cooks are needed. Prices are outrageous the tea counter seems to be more of a focus than the actual food. The restaurant was successful as it was now its become over Americanized. Also ordered rice with our food and it never arrived. Water cups stacked without being completely dry leaves room for bacteria to grow. Cups need to Be DRY!!! Before stacking them at the water station. Tables were dirty and slimy. Grease of some sort covered the small 6" counter where you set your bowl to wait for the cook. Sad to say that we will not be back and we will be sharing with everyone we know not to go either.
MoreThis is just a fine meAL in a very nice restaurant. The staff is awesome. Its a pleasure to dine there and try all the gorgeous buffet samplings. Eat smart but eat well.
MoreYou get alot of food but the quality is so so. For vegans its a great place. For meat eaters the quality is nothing but cheap frozen cuts.
MoreLove this place. Great food. Excellent preparation. How ever the floor serve was lacking. Not getting our drinks. Nor offered rice.
MoreGreat selection of meats vegetables and sauces, however they drown out all the sauces with way to much water, all my vegetables were undercooked and had several very raw pices of chicken overall was not impressed and will not be returning which is to bad... I love Mongolian wish Bend had another option or that this place would fix the issues.
MoreThe food and sauce selection is great and just about on par with every other great Mongolian BBQ but none of that matters if your cook drowns everything in a gallon of water while hes cooking it. Essentially youve washed all the sauce and flavor off the food and whats left is a bland, steamed bowl of random food items. The best part of that meal was the Dr Pepper...
MoreDelicious food, clean, great customer service. First time here, wont be my last. Great for vegetarians, normally I avoid Mongolian bbq anything but this place checked everything on my list for excellence. The smell Literally drew me in off my route to go to the store
MoreVery crappy service they tried closing 45 minutes early and took the customer water dispenser to the back 30 minutes early. The lady working was rude the entire time and starred at me the entire time. The gentlemen working the cashier was wearing a beanie as well. The only nice thing was the chef even though he didnt seem to want to be there and went out to smoke came back and didnt wash his hands. Very disappointed in this place
MoreNew layout was nice, lots of drink options.Food bar was a mess and they wash the flavor out of the food as they cook it! This has been a favorite for years but the new owners or management have removed that glad I came here feeling!! Probably wont return😞!P.s. Tip cash after meal so you can tip appropriately!
MoreGreat food. You make your own bowl and then they throw it on the grill and cook it right in front of you. It tastes amazing! Great service! Fun experience! And its a perfect option even if there are picky eaters in your group since you choose every item that goes in your bowl.
MoreWeird? Never been to Mongolian like this before. Food station was a mess. They hose your food down with about a liter of water. They wash all of the flavor out that you added. Odd place?
MoreNice selection of meats and veggies, but would like more direction in combining the various sauces for cooking. It might also be good to use thicker sauces as most of the sauce ends up at the bottom of the bowl. Another option is to have finishing sauces after the cooking which are thicker. Otherwise, Id try this place again. 3 forks!
MoreFood is steamed/boiled on the grill not stir fried because its doused with water the whole time it cooks. Ive never seen a Mongolian BBQ cook this way and Ive been to many. They walk the food around the circular grill while it boils and if someone else on that grill is having curry, so are you... the flavors end up mixing. Not enough staff at dinner service, prices way too high for the quality and empty food bar. ($50 for two adults and a kid They only cook one or two meals at a time instead of several so your family may start eating 10-15 minutes before you, which is what happened to me tonight. The restaurant in general is not clean, the food bar was a mess the whole time we were there. Ive been to a lot of these places, this is the strangest by a long shot. Probably wont return, especially considering the premium prices for sub-par Mongolian BBQ.
MoreThe new look was awesome. Food selection was awesome on Sunday. Service was great, with a nice drink selection. What was creepy, was the manager setting at the desk out front staring at people. It freaked my wife out a bit. Probably would not eat there with him scoping on the customers.
MoreGreat food at a reasonable price. Staff were also very attentive. Enjoyed being able to customize our own bowl with a huge variety of veggies, meats, and sauces.
MoreHorrible cook! This is Mongolian steam your food until theres no flavor because it got hosed down with water the entire time it cooked. The noodles were impregnated so much with water by the end that it tasted like overcooked spaghetti. Even after asking the cook to stop pouring water on our food he continued. We were still billed in full even though the food wasnt edible. That being said, the variety and quality of the ingredients was great! Very clean atmosphere.Overall, it was overpriced for quality of chef. I have been to many "Mongolian grills" and at best this is false advertising as it is not cooked in the same style. I will not be returning.
MoreThey have a wonderful selection of veggies, noodles, meat, sauces, etc so you can create your perfect meal. I have an allergy to shellfish so they graciously cleaned the grill as the order before mine had shrimp. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend this if you have a hankering for Mongolian!
MoreI love this place. I have been eating here since high school and it has definitely improved with the new owners. There is a larger selection of noodles, vegetables, meats, beer and wine.
MoreTheir sauces you use to concoct the flavor you want for your vegetable, meat and noodle creation are a bit strange, unusual and inappropriate and they recommend using too many scoops. As a result my meal was super salty and I could not eat it.
MoreBoring. In bend, been going here my whole life. If you know how to put a bowl together it super good. Prices went up a bit but I have been to other Mongolian grills and none of them are the same.
MoreOur favorite place to eat when we go into Bend. New management is awesome! Im allergic to onions and every time we go they clean the grill for me no problem
MoreGreat food, and the best part is that it is a make your own plate kind of deal. I also love watching the chefs cook my food. Really fun! While there isnt a kids menu, kids love it here. They can put whatever they want in their stirfry bowl and then watch it get cooked
MoreI have gone to other Mongolian style restaurants that were gray. This place was a dump. They water down the food so much as they cooked it, that there was no flavor left. This place is just a huge disappointment.
MoreIts not great. There was a lot of cross contamination which made mine really spicy. Do not get the beef. It is incredibly dry. All and all my group and I wished we had gone some where else. We did not finish and left to eat at home.
MoreMongolian BBQ offers an amazing buffet style arrangement of food that are amazing!! Although, at first glance its not much to look at, when you close your eyes and let the flavor take over you begin to realize why you came again, and again!
MoreDelicious as always! The owner is super sweet and nice. will always come back whenever im in town. but while i was eating my meal, over heard a costumer complaining and refusing to pay because he grabbed a medium bowl but got a large bowl after it was cooked. Which made me wonder how people think its ok to over stuff their bowl and smash it down with their hand to make it fit and expect the cook to fit it all back in the same size bowl after it has been cooking on the hot grill! Do you expect the cook to smash it down with his hands while its steaming hot!?!Greedy costumers in my opinion, you cant go to McDonalds to buy a cheeseburger and expect 2.
MoreAfter 8 years of decent service, we will no longer be returning there. Tonight, the usual cook was demoted to busser while the owners family was running the grill and table service. My tiny 10 year old was charged an extra $4 because her noodles didnt fit back into the same bowl they came out of, even after being cooked down. The tofu was rubbery from not being cooked properly and the guys on the grill couldnt even slide the food into the bowl. There were other diners complaining at the same time as our visit. We wont be returning again, time to find another quality restaurant here in Bend.
MoreI used to work at a Mongolian Grill in Corvallis and it blows this place out of the water. It just seem like there is no drive to make it a good place to eat and just a place there trying to pay the bills with and not a place they really care about the customer. I also was walking into Fred Meyers one day and saw the front door open and saw them chasing a rat out into the parking lot. NOT IMPRESSED!!!
