Warren of eclectic outlets selling eclectic gear from souvenirs to furniture, food & army surplus.
You can get anything over There nice people good food
This is a very funky and worth visiting spot in Athens. If you stop by, you can visit Hadrians library, amazing architecture, and this amazing flea market, full of regional, authentic, and sometimes a vit tacky items. Make sure you look around before you buy anything . After you are done, you can give a bite in any of the nice restaurants nearby. Highly recommended!
Its bigger than you think.Go to the side streets, avoid the mainstream souvenir shops. Lots of odd, vintage shops. Awesome place
If you aint in Monastiraki Square you missed it.
1st time in Athens I love it!! The people were so nice and prices were fair. The food was amazing, the outside cafes were wonderful a great way to sirand enthe city.
Weve always loved wandering through the flea market every time were in Athens and have bought some really nice items. This time however it seemed to us that after covid , the asking prices were ridiculous as if the vendors didnt want to sell. Not in the main street but in the side street that opens out into a square. Shame, weve always enjoyed the experience, but not this time.
Its amazing atmosphere!!!This place its magic...the people the shops the weather!!!you should visit it!!!,❤️❤️❤️
Loads of shops. They offer lots of souvenirs to buy, and food to eat. I would recommend walking one round first to compare the prices and quality before actually purchasing anything. Prices and quality varies from shop to shop.
The flee was very nice!It is located exactly on the exit of the metro at monastiraki Station so texi is not needed to arrive there. There are all kinds of things to buy like gifts and t-shirt, Ice cream and such.It is not that big of a market tho.I strongly recommend if you visit there to stop eat pizza near by at a place called "18:35", its on the other side of the road, best pizza i ever ate and the view to the acropolis is amazing.
Good place to buy some souvenirs
Great Place To Visit whilst in #Athens! Amazing Shops to visit.
A must-see in Athens. Cute stores with mostly tourist souvenirs but it’s fun and a good vibe!
A must visit when youre in Athens, Greece many alleyways of shops ranging from Jewelry - Leather goods Clothes Souvenirs Printed shirts eg I Love Greece they are located in the Plaka area of Greece near the railway station a must visit when youre in Greece.
Nice area very close to the Acropolis. It’s a wonderful Flea market where you can buy literally everything and also enjoy the joys of haggling for price. You can walk from Monastiraki street to Plaka in 15 mins through some wonderful roads overlooking the Hadrian’s library while indulging in actual or window shopping. At Monastiraki, there is a nice Italian coffee shop selling some Greek snacks, both sweet and savoury, as well as some wonderful coffees. You can also see the Acropolis from the square.
Amazing place to spend a few hours. A few tourist shops and bodeags with cheap cute clothes, but the deeper you go into the maze of streets there are true antique sotres with furniture, records, nicknacks, historical items, art, etc.
I love to spend a few hours here every time I am in central Athens. The shops are diverse and worth popping into.Spend time discussing the items for sale with the owners and shop staff, you will definately come away with a more complete picture of this unique city. You can pick up so many unique items, culture pieces, statues, items of clothing, handmade sandals, small presents to take back to your loved ones. The prices are reasonable and most shops allow you to barter. This is a busy place so try and avoid the intensive sunshine and visit either in the morning or later in the day..There are many restrauants in the area, coffee shops and bars for you to relax, take a break and enjoy the atmosphere. One of my favorites is the Tarzan bar where I can after the hustle and bustle take some precious time to unwind over a cold beer and enjoy some unique tunes from their selection.Once is never enough and you will find yourself returning again and again. One thing I will enjoy is visiting in the colder months when the majority of the tourists have left the city and I wont have to hide from the suns intensity..Stana
What great fun to wonder the many businesses in this flea market. A tourist area for sure with lots of cafes near by. Found many interesting products and even bought several. Would definitely go back.
Awesome place, looking like "souks" in Athens. You will find everything you may need as a gift from Athens.Strongly appreciated ! Will definitely be back.Only drawback : sometimes shops holder are trying to push you to enter and buy their own products...
Great place to visit, they have many interesting shops that sell a wide variety of things. Just be careful however as there are some people up to no good, often staring at tourists for whatever reason.
Be carful pickpockets all over had a iPhone stolen on first time we went. 2nd time I was aware of them by the station they work in groups of 4 trying to distract you. Be alert.
I love bargain hunting, but there are many shops with very similar Items, you have to really explore the nooks and crannies for unique items. They have areas with legit flea market set ups (rug and Items laid out to view like silverware, porcelain, etc. and some old book stores that are a total throwback. It does get packed so be prepared!
Monastiraki is one of the best location for shopping in the heart of Athens. You can find everything you want. Old, new, antiques etc.Best destination for tourists, locals, families, friends, lovers etc. You can have it all, once you step your feet in this place, you can sit drink, eat, having your ice cream, cold ice coffee (frappewhile your eyes wandering around, looking beautiful views, people, shops, restaurants, postcards, souvenirs and many more. Better to visit and see yourself. No need to worry how get there, train and metro will send you there.
The place to go , Really nice . So many little shops and places to eat and drink
Nice alleys nice market. Will find something to buy for sure. Went in the morning and evening and both timings were nice and full of ppl.
Fun place to go in the evening , a bit expensive but fun to visit
You can get everything you want here. We were there on Sunday and it was less crowed. We bought some magnet souvenirs from Alessandra (Αλεσάντρα in Greek hahahawho was very very very nice to us, and I recommend you buy your souvenirs from her. Ive uploaded a receipt of the souvenirs I bought from her containing the shops phone number so call for directions and you wont regret it.
Monastiraki and surrounding area is a veryInteresting shopping zone. One can find everything from a 1 Euro souvenir to a 100,000 Euro piece of art. Food in the same area is abundant and relatively cheap.
An excellent place to grab a few items representing to others that you have been to Greece/Athens/Abroad. You can also pick up some good deals. I picked up some sunglasses for €8. Food is middle of the road but you will pay a large sum for it. If you like to drink a lot, there are some great places here and the nightlife is set up for you to regret tomorrow morning.
The market was so nice and you can find different souvenirs there :)
This was cool, great way to get gifts while visiting Greece.
Oh boy, lots of treasures. If you are a flea marketer youll love it. We went on a Sunday and it was pretty busy. An interesting side of Athens were you really get to meet the locals. Bring cash. It will make your live easier and bring your bargaining spirit.
Great variety of shoes, backpacks. P.S: offer them to pay in cash to get a special discount.
Most busy area in Athens. You can walk all day long
You really have to go in the back for the antiques. The shops on the main road have regular clothing/ tourist things. This is a bit confusing. The nice antiques are the big pieces, especially the furniture, but it’s always about luck in flea markets. Also noticed a lot of vendors sell old wrist watches.
Nice place for shopping. Prices, service & selection was good. Most vendors speak English. Prices can vary from one vendor to the next but otherwise fair. At then end of the flea market is a popular Instagram photo opportunity if thats your type of thing. A short walk to Plaka, tourist items were better priced.
Fabulous way to spend a Sunday morning and early afternoon! A must if you visit Athens!
Definitely the place to go if you want to find a souvenir, shop, or just people-watch. So many little nooks and side streets to explore. Even though most are generally selling the same touristy knick-knacks, it is still a lot of fun. There aren’t a lot of tourists/crowds as of yet, though the shop owners say that it has picked up a lot since last year. Lots of things to do in this area.
You can buy here not only antique, but almost everything.I didnt even know that the Nazar (amuletis also popular in Greece
Watch out for thieves and scammers offering you free roses and bracelets.. they will literally get in your face and grab you which drove me NUTS. Other that that the markets were cool
This is a really fun, colorful and busy area. Lots of shopping options. Its actually a Flea Market with lot of second-hand products (in stores), but there are also lot of shops selling first-hand stuff as well as a good number of restaurants (mostly fast food counters). Its fun to roam the area, checking out the clothes, accessories, gadgets and more. But you either need a lot of time finding some good quality stuff or you just need to be lucky. Many many shops have the same kind of products, for similar prices. Ok, the cheap souvenirs are a bit cheaper here. But its more of an area Id stroll around and do window shopping rather than actually buy something. And the food is just you regular (greekfast food fare. Head elsewhere for good meals.Nonetheless well come back next time when in Athens. Because its fun just for what it is.
Nice place to spend your Saturday looking for antiques and vintage stuff. Naturally, there are many sellers selling fake items so be careful and always check twice (or google before you buy something if you are not an expert in the matter).
Enjoyed walking around here. Lots of shops though not much that appealed to me, good atmosphere, close to ancient sites and active night life with the many eating places.
Beautiful and historical, meaningful place. I love their specifically crowded atmosphere. Many restaurants, souvenirs, coffee places and most importantly, the streets are extremely beautiful and truly GREEK. Plenty of unique souvenirs, and photo zones are there!!The thing you should be careful is just to be alert with your belongings. Time to time, the place becomes extremely crowded, so maybe there are thieves!
One of the cleanest and joyful flea markets i have ever visited. You can find a lot of different goods with a reasonable price. There are also a wide selection of olive oil and nuts. The souvenirs are really fancy.Between two metro stations, so it is easily accessible.
Beside the fruit which were sweet. The whole flea Market (streetselling the same things.Typical shoes, t-shirts... nothing creative.Put it in the bottom of your list. Unless u really really must kill time.
Excellent place to visit in the centre of Athens and right under the Acropolis!!!! The locals are knowledgeable of their products and not too pushy. Just keen to help. You can literally find anything here...from souvenirs to full size furniture, leathet and cork bags, and even paintings!!I always visit here when visiting Athens!Once you visit you will always return!
Located in a very lively neighborhood, the flea market is full of different options... Souvenirs but also great handmade stuff (ceramics, olive wood art-craft, etc.). Lots of places to have a bite and try local food aswell.
It has all kinds of stuff with really affordable prices, even though it is focused on tourists. You can find clothes, jewelry, food, antiques, military stuff and also its a really good place to buy souvenirs, theres some stores that cost around 1€, 3€ for products that in other more popular zones like plaka or Acropolis costs almost double. Its around 4 blocks length so you can walk with no hurry watching stuff that in some cases cant find in other places.
Popular and crowdy place at the historical centre of Athens. Many commercial shops, with clothes, accessories, souvenirs, antiques e.t.c. some of them with very good prices. Good entertainment options at the area around, easy access by metro (Monastiraki station).
Monastiraki Flea Markets (Athens Flea Markets)We spent an enjoy hour and half wandering through these markets just taking in the atmosphere. Walking through these new markets which is right next door to ancient ruins feels somewhat surreal at times. Most of the goods for sale are targeting the tourist. There are bags, shoes, T-shirts, statues, magnets etc as well as the occasional store selling something different. Be sure to compare your prices and try out your haggling skills. We watched as several people (usually young womenwho were approached by men and had woven bracelets tied onto their wrists before they realised what was happening. They were then asked to pay for the bracelet and when they refused and tried to remove it they struggled to untie it. The men then started getting more vocal and demanding payment. SO BEWARE!Lots of cafes and eateries in this area to sit back and enjoy a snack or coffee and watch the world go by.
