Monastery of St. Dionysios in Olympus in Katerini

Peaceful and quiet, I recommend people to buy locally made products in the shop.

Wonderful place, friendly monks and souvenir shop. We have bought Feta and honey there, saw relics of the Saint Dionisiy and had so sincere time. I recomend.

The first thing you need to know when coming to this monastery - the guys who live and work there do not like to see a womans body (legs, head, shoulders), so if you are a woman you will have to wear one of the dresses and scarves left at the entrance and hide yourself from their eyes.Second, dont expect guide and host to explain the story of this place. No guide.There is a museum and several monasteries.

Nice stop on the way up to Olympus. Quiet atmosphere. “Decent dressing” required at the entrance (my friend wearing tights had to wrap my shirt around her waist to be able to enter).

Beautiful monastery.Free entrance.Appropriate clothing is required.There is a small Chapel to burn a candle for a small donation.The monastery is very nicely decorated.In the chandelier you can see ostrich eggs used for decoration

Pretty Monastery. Doesnt take long to look around. Museum was closed when we went despite saying open on the times.

You have to bring long skirt or imitated one with you. It has to cover your knees. In their museum is prohibited taking any photos or videos!

I havent entered the church, but I was in the museum and it was unique experience seeing relics of the saints and all things that are there

Beautiful building design. Great location in the forest. Looks like they are working onSome of the buildings. Very large area. Museum was not open at my time.

We reached at sunset, the monks were in prayer, so the boys got to stay at Vespers.We stayed on a bench.. some monks were in a hurry to finish a rock pathway.. the birds were singing so beautiful.. just quiet life. Good wine, amazing olive oil!

This monastery is very nice ortodox monument in Greece where every visitor feels nice and healty and very close to God.

Beautiful small monastery at beginning of climb to Olympus. It will take 15 minutes to visit it. There nothing special to do but it very nice and maintained at very good condition.

Excellent monastery with many Christian Orthodox Holy Relics. You can see also some rare Ones like Saint Lazarus along with many other Saints. Perhaps only here and to Holy Mountain. A must visit for everey Orthodox.

Fake old buildings, actually still under construction. But at least its free to visit. Interior full of shiny gold-colored plastic from china shop. Visit for women is only allowed in when shoulder and legs are covered.

Nice small monastery in the Olympos mountain. This is the new monastery. If you want to check the old you have to drive roughly another 20min straight forward from this place. The old monastery is under construction but the place is nice to explore. Especially walking to the holy cave and swimming in the cold mountain water is recommended.

Although beautiful place, they have turned this secret place to a Solomons temple. Everything is about money and donations...its a disgrace

St. Dionysos monastery is located in a beautiful landscape, near the town of Olympus, close to two mountains that seem to clash heads :It is a beautiful and discreet Orthodox monastery, but with a long and brave history. The church is beautiful inside, the mountain spring has crystal clear, sweet, drinkable water. The souvenir shop also sells several food and cosmetic products, made by the monks! Good prices, good products. The soap smells divine :)

Small but a piece of heaven

Peace of mind, beauty. Words are too poor to describe.

Its a nice place to take a short rest after hiking the mountain, if youre using a car. We went there after two days of tracking on the mountain. In the gift shop we found some unique jams and candies. The locals even by here eggs and such.

New monestery is outstanding. Beautifuly arranged, with nice garden and gorgeus church is a must to see

I am a visitor of this monastery till 60 years. The Abbot and the Monks follow the christian rules of the Early Church and they care of the greek christian orthodox traditions according to these of the Holy Mountain Athos.They are very friendly, laughing,hospitable, philantropists etc, etc, etc. and they realize every day the teachings of Jesus Christ in the practice.An austrian christian protestant woman who has been as visitor for 4 weeks in this monastery said to me "If You want to meet Saints on the Euarth during Your life than You have to visit this monastery".You have to visit also the old monastery(palaio monastiriin the green heart of the national park of Olymp which is 16 km away. In the church is the dig and 20 min by feet You will be in the erimitage(spiliaof Saint Dionysios.

If i could give a rating of 0 stars, i would. We came inside the backyard with our French bulldog and a monk from the church saw the little dog and started yelling "Get the dog out now!". The dog didnt bark nor bother anyone. These people aint "gods people". Frustrating at least. Never gonna come again. "Christs love" is a joke in this church.

Everyone that comes in the area should visit it.
