Religious art museum in a 15th-century convent with a baroque church & tomb of Princess Saint Joan.
Spectacular museum with an outdoor element. I really felt like the story told for each exhibition ties together with each other. The chapels were really interesting to see. Ugh the BEST admission I spent for a museum. ❤️❤️❤️
A beautiful and interesting place if youre interested in religious art.
in my humble opinion there is not much to see in Aveiro...but this one is one of the best monuments in Portugal for sure! :impressive, not crowded at all... definitely worth visiting
Beautiful museum. Well worth visiting.
Very good
Best museus and one of the most beautiful church in the world.I strongly recommend to buy the 7 euros for all 3 aveiros museum. Please be aware that the museum closes for lunch, I recommend to spend more time on this museum, at least 2 hours to see all things.
Fantastic...its an old convent transformed into a museum...very interesting and beautiful.
If you are interested in Catholic art and want to understand better the history of the catholic countries, I recommend this place. It transported you into the past. Also, it shows you the history of Portugal as an empire. Amazing place.
Beautiful history inside. I entered at 1:30 and didn’t see anyone else. All translated into English. €5 entry may be a little much
Great
Hidden gem of the city - so many things to see and a beautiful church inside!
Great story of Saint Joanna. This place is filled with history of Saint Joanna. Items are from centuries ago and pretty well preserved. Deceptively big inside. Beautifully laid out in the typical museum way.
Great if you like religious art. Students get in free.
Supposed to visit 😍😍😍🔥🔥
So interesting...worth a visit.
Beautiful museum portraying the history of the Convent and Princess Joana of Portugal.
Amazing museum so much to see - it’s endless!! Well worth a visit!!!
A fascinating place, full of wonderful treasures. We spent almost three hours here almost without standing still - thats how much there is to see.
Very nice place to visit!!!
Due to wanting to force the entire city into one day. I only had a half hour time to do this entire museum which was not enough. I recommend you have at least more than an hour.Everything in the main exhibit is also translated to English
Beautiful collection, with descriptions in English, helpful kind staff. Magnificent and moving in many ways.
One of the best in the country.
Too much paintings in exhibition, too much sacred art, lack of a dialogue between ancient and contemporary art. The Saint Joana marble tomb though makes it worth a visit.
Amazing museum and monastery!
Awesome place, energy and history behind this place.
The main chapel of the monastery is an impressive sight, and the permanent exhibit upstairs is also a must see for religious art afficionados. The cloysters of the monastery could be better preserved, particularly on the outdoors area, however the parts of the monastery that are well maintained are fantastic. The whole place can be seen in 30 minutes however there is plenty of information and detail to contemplate.
Its really one of the place in Aveiro that deserve a visit. A very beautiful building in total and a very beautiful chapel. Really recommended!
A lot of paintings to admire
Impressive decorations of church and monastery. Plus interesting insight into monks life. Worth visiting.
The way in which items are featured is keeping with full professionalism. Drop what your doing and head over now.
A museum full of history and very beautiful!Very helpful staff. The story behind the monastery could be better told. I had local friend as a guide whch helped understand a lot better the reason behind its construction, otherwise I would have missed altogether.
Well worth a visit if you are in the area. A guided tour will add to the ecclesiastical empowerment of your visit.
Nice building and free for students
Very interesting museum and beautiful place. One of the best places to visit in Aveiro.
Must visit
Its good to know about history of Princess Joanna.
Amazingly beautiful church inside the monastery
Oh the place to be. Beautiful paintings. Amazing piece of history to admire
Had a guided tour of Aveiro which brought us here. It has a number of nice pieces mostly displayed again plain white walls which makes them stand out. Based around a princess who came to the town as a nun to help the townspeople, and this building is where she lived and died.
Absolutely incredible. What a jewel to have in a smaller town. Im so happy I paid a visit! Dont hesitate... go!
Its got a really nice cloister in it, plus the entire building is worth a visit
Very nicely set up with precious treasures displayed about Princess St. Joana.
Excellent Portuguese cultural space.
Its a nice place to visit with a very large collection of antique art. Several items of the collection were brought from other places. The place is worth paying 4 euros for entry. The best part, entry is free for students.
Beautiful historic museum..
Beautiful antiques and wooden carvings, church decors, etc..
Great sacred art museum. A lot better than you would expect from a small town.
Lots to see but the old convent buildings & chapel are a highlight.
I really love the brilliantly built golden chapel and beautiful decors, as well as well preserved paint and art collection.
Spectacular museum, spacious and wonderful. Great pieces of history and art. It provides also a lot of exhibitions of several projects of contemporary creations, all the year. Surrounded by beautiful garden, it´s a pleasure to visit and know it.
