Momo’s by Ruvi - Dumpling restaurant in Colombo, Sri Lanka
The place is a compact, neat and clean, but It took an hour for our order to be served. However, some families got their orders faster than us.Food tastes great, but need to focus more on serving a group with many dishes and make sure to serve all at once.
Recommended place for dumplings ♥️😘#Peaceful place#Tasteful dishes
Went based on a recommendation that this place is rated good on UberEATS. thats just it this is not a dine in place (one visit only). While the food was ok, The server didnt know the menu and had trouble communicating. Cook walked out in shorts and just served food (not good). Logo inside was from a YouTube channel popular food blogger (asking for trouble). Noodle feels like its not washed properly, stuffing/rapper/source ratios do not justify the prices at all. Street stalls in India does better for lower cost and its better than thisOverall service needs a lot of improvement.Food is not value for money. margins are probably around 40-60% based on portions. if it was sensible I would have been more kind but no, lack of service quality only compounds. If people are rating high then I can only guess people have very low expectations that this service, value for money, IG quality presentation just overwhelmes them.Owner is best off operating a ghost kitchen and not focus on Dinein experience.
Heres the thing, the food was mostly delicious, but the service was just TERRIBLE.The chicken and shiitake chowmein: the chicken and noodles were superb, but the shiitake shouldve been left to soften more before being cooked and the tofu was sort of bland too.The momo platter: delicious, loved it.The chili prawn bao: we changed our order from honey garlic chicken to chili prawn at the very beginning, but we were served honey garlic chicken (which we didn’t wanna bother them to change, cos the order took pretty long to arrive anyway), but we only realized on the way home that wed been billed for the chili prawn (there was probably no price dfrnc, but yeah, the order got bungledSo I cant review the chili prawn bao, cos we never got it ;-), but the honey garlic chicken was lovely. My ginger black tea: we ordered it, but it never appeared, so we gave up on it, but we noticed on checking the bill on our way home that theyd billed us for it too. (sigh...)The strawberry fizz: was ok, but the poor fellow who served us hadnt a clue what went in it -_-Momos by Ruvi, ramp up your service guys! Your food is great, but Ill never dine-in again. Maybe Ill order out, simply cos the food was good, just maybe...Update to the owner: thanks for replying, Im adding a star to my review purely cos I appreciate you taking the time to respond graciously. Dont worry about the refund.
Food it delicious as always but the momos were abit off. Not how its used to be. No expert to comment on itTerrible service. ☺️ Lol thats it.Love the food here
The momos are amazing. Will try again soon!
Quaint, simple, cosy and quirky little eatery that has truly captured the essence of the food they serve. The menu is straightforward and the momos are delicious. You get three options.. Steamed, wok fried, and deep fried. All are good options to try although a personal favourite is steamed! The bao is something to try where they do something magical to the chicken and wrapped in the fluffiest softest bao. Flavours are on point too!A place I will definitely be visiting again!
Our cravings for Momos led us to this place. The variety of Momos offered, the pricing etc are great. They also have Baos and tasty noodles. Their momos and the variety are tasty and value for money.
I was very impressed with the food here. There was a 25-30 minute waiting time, but it was worth the wait. I highly recommend this restaurant. However, I do wish that more attention was paid to cleanliness. Aside from that, I was very satisfied with my experience here and I hope to return again soon. If you are in the area, you should definitely try the food here!
I love coming here every single time Im in Colombo. The food is always great and the place is nice and cozy.
The food was awesome. Unfortunately I was so engrossed in eating that I didnt take pictures!I ordered the Manchurian, chilli momos and baos
Really great tasting Momos and nice people who run the small restaurant. Very Recommendable!
Fantastic dumplings! A good variety, and they have added additional items to their menu since the last time I was there, particularly noodle dishes that are quite outstanding. The change of location as nice as well it’s in a much more accessible and a cleaner area.
Good:* Absolutely love their food and my number one place for dumplings.* Their mixed platter is lovely and you should try everything on the menu. Worth it.* Nice take away packs so you can enjoy them on the go or anywhere you want.Bad :* Parking can be tricky.* Some might feel like the do not have good Covid-19 prevention initiatives in place, but since they serve warm dishes most wont mind I guess, coz I dont. So five stars all the way !
The food was nice. The price is very affordable. But we had to wait for some time for someone to respond so Im giving 4/5
Love the twist to dumplings. The shallow fried and spicy variants were delicious. The restaurant is open after the pandemic and is on Uber eats as well. Must try of you still havent.
Its been my second visit to this beautiful place. The taste was as usually amazing like the first time. Its a nice place, not crowded, YET!,.The last two times I went, I tried their steamed chicken, Manchurian prawns, wok fried and the chilly cheese. Tastes absolutely yummmmmm. A must try for those momo crazies.A portion comes with 6 Momos and is accompanied by soy sauce and other sauses.PS: its a lil hard to find a place to park most of the time. (WHICH IS NOT A DRAWBACK THAT I SEE, COZ THE FOOD IS ALL I CARE ABOUT WHICH WAS LOVELY 😍)
My first experience was really good, and a takeaway. Right portion in each and the taste was really good. Everything is perfect. Love the fries dumplings more than the steamed and spices in right level. Totally worth the money you have to pay. Easy access from the Galle Road and public parking along the roadsides. No dedicated parking. Quick and excellent customer service.
Yum!!!!I think its a decent place to hv good food for a reasonable price! It was my first time ordering through uber, and I ordered dumplings, and I must say for the price its a winner!!!!Most of the good dumplings you find are in a bit of high end restaurents, but this did justice in all way.I must say the dumplings were good size and the sauces were good too, most places ruin the soy sauce by making it too salty but this wasnt. And in uber it showed me 500 bucks for the steamed chicken dumplings, which im not sure whetger its the original restaurent price since uber smtimes shows a higher price, but even though for 500 bucks the size and taste was a winner, will definitely order more!!!!!
Went here with friends. Place was small but alright. Food was served within 10 mins of ordering but the staff wasnt friendly at all. Also they didnt seem to maintain hygiene that well since we found a fly in our iced tea. We went on a very warm day and the staff kept the AC to a minimum and didnt try to reduce the temperature even despite our requests. Kinda disappointed with the whole experience.
Nice little quaint place and their dumplings were delicious. Very authentic. Customer service was really good too. Would recommend it.
Although the place looks a little shady from the outside once you step in the atmosphere is pretty calm, nice and clean. Its a small place but that wasnt an issue.Ordered the Kung Pao Chow Mein (Chicken and Prawnwith a portion of steamed chicken and shallow fried prawn Momos. Dishes were served within 10 minutes. Presentation is alright. Taste was good.Portion for the Chow Mein was great, wished more Momos came in a portion but cant complain for the price. The staff are alright, not too friendly but definitely efficient and courteous.
We had the chicken, vegetarian, and shrimp momos prepared in different ways. I think the steamed ones with the chilli sauce are still my favourite--classic and timeless. The decor is cute and the service was fine. The iced tea was too sweet-- even though I specifically asked for no sugar. Other then that, it was a pleasant meal with friends.
Momos by Ruvi is one of the best places to get momos in Sri Lanka. The momos are made pipping hot and taste really good. We loved the prawns, chicken and beef momos. They have some good drinks to complement the momos. They have opened a new outlet in colombo 02. They even have the platters available which you can mix and match. My personal favorite are the steamed momos. Zee preferred the wok fried momos. #natnzin
Nice food.. Decent pricing.. Momos are very well done.. Schezwan chowmein is also delicious.. Good palace to enjoy an evening snack or dinner
The staff said they started this business after visiting Nepal. Momo is great, gives the similar taste you find in Nepal.
If you know the origin of dumpling, I don’t recommend to go. Steam dumpling was not hot and moreover could not feel any meat flavor. Even though, the price is so high.
Place is a nice cozy place, in the main galle road...staff good service...Food great too.. except it was too salty...definitely will visit this place again...but pls REDUCE THE LEVEL OF SALT...Thank uuu
Prices are bit higher side. Shallow fried Momo potion is Rs.470 which includes 6 Momo’s. Food is served hot and tastes soooo good. Momo potion is not enough for a person, like 3 will be enough for 2. For drinks different types of tea available like black tea, ginger tea, vanilla rose tea etc which costs Rs.150 per cup. Place is very clean but not much spacious. No service charges added and not much of a rush in the place. Have to park vehicles somewhere since you cannot park it on galle road.
Nice food nice place nice people.Prices are relatively high. But you get the best of the best. Clean and neat.Conveniently located in Galle Road.Decent place. Only about 5 tables. Careful about parking. Spaces arent available all the time.
Loving the cute new cafe located right on Galle Road. The Momos were as delicious as ever. The Baos were awesome too :)
Pleasant customer serviceOrdered : Kung pao chicken(rs750), veg bao(rs 650), and a prawn platter (rs1250that consists 12pcs that are divided into steamed , shallow fried and wok fried. The winner was the shallow fried dumplings with the chow mein coming in a close 2nd. The rest werent that special.Because of this and because the wait time for the food was long, I removed 1 star.My wife thinks they should make the decor more appealing from the outside. But not bad overall, would recommend for something that tastes closer to international cuisine rather than "international named items with Sri lankan taste".
Could not imagine i would find this authentic chinese taste in sri lankaI called before coming to make sure that they have halal food..and they confirmed all the food is halalShallow fried dumpling my favEverything suited my palate and i am bit picky with my foodThey should improve the decoration from the outsideNice serviceConvenient place
More localized dumplings with more flavors. But size is not like normal south east asian one. Taste is delicious and all prices you can see on below images.
Excellent dumplings. Took some for a movie also. The dumplings were so fresh and tasty 😋. Would always go for more in my visit to Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
The most difficult part was finding the place, for those who are going for the first time its in front of Unity Plaza, theres a lane its at the very end.The dumpling was great, I had the chicken wok fried dumplings & peach tea.A small calm place worth a visit.
I happen to hail from Delhi where momos are so popular that you can find them on every nook and corner of the city. They are literally part of my evening snacks. Since i have shifted to Mumbai it has become a bit difficult to find some good moms here. One day at Colombo I was walking through the Galle Road and with the help of Google Maps found out this Momo Restaurant. Being a dilliwala and discovering a momo restaurant was a moment to cherish and decided to try out their momos. They have a variety of momos from veg to beef and in different prepration style such as Steamed, semi fried, fried etc. I must say that I havent had this good momos even in mumbai. The iced Tea was also pretty good. The reason behind delicious momos i got to know after I interacted with Ruvi and his friend. Ruvi has done her graduation from Delhi and thats where the delhi tasting moms come from. Ruvi also got some tips about perfect momo making from her grandfather who hails from China.
Small place. Clean. Great momos despite the unflattering pictures. About 1000 for my meal, which is OK for Colombo.
Delicious momos with some lovely iced tea makes this place the perfect spot for an early lunch or dinner. You can choose from 4 preparation methods (steamed, wok fried, shallow fried and chilliand 4 types of fillings (chicken, beef, prawn and veg). You can order individual plates where you get 6 pieces or order the platter where you get 12 pieces with a combination of steamed, wok fried and shallow fried (with only 1 kind of filling). For an additional cost, you can upgrade your platter to have 2 kinds of fillings. My favorite: the wok fried chicken momos.
One of the best places in town for momosNo other place in Colombo has momosOther than this placeThey provide a very good customer satisfactory service and well as the staff is excellentHope to see more from themThe menu is really good and the food is served so fastEven the people who work are very friendly and obligingPrice is pretty decent compared to other places aroundThey should introduce deserts in the near future and a bigger menu!!!!
A small place with absolutely delicious and reasonably priced food. Assume they are mainly focused on delivery and take away, since the service was quite basic. But the food was super amazing and will definitely come back for more( probably for take away.)
A small cozy place to enjoy one of a kind dishes at a reasonable price. The good experience here is delightful. I must say that the interior of the restaurant is so cute and i loved it. If you want to have a peaceful time with less people this is a perfect place to hang out. The place is situated somewhat inside of a street so its hard to find though.
The place is cozy and nice but the tables are too small. The taste of momos is fine but the price is quite expensive compared to the size and taste of momos.
Good food. 😍 nice ambience. Can accommodate only a small crowd though.Simply loved it. This chicken momo platter was Rs.900. Nice cozy little place hidden in the city. They deliver too.
In love with the momos here.So authentic like the Nepali ones. The sauces are brilliant, in Nepal we get only the chutney and Momos by Ruvi have taken it to a next level with their signature sauces and styles. The momos are just delicious and a must try. Every time I visit Sri Lanka this place is going to be in my "to do" list for sure. Missing this place already. Lovely interior and a cute place too. Very tidy and nicely furnished.
Superb. Excellent. Lovely little place. Order the bok choy, do not forget. Have everything on the menu, youll thank me later.
Momos is best dumpling restaurant in colombo. Very delicious and not salty. And inside is small and cute ;Also It was not hard to find the place.
Momos are a traditional Tibetan dish and I LOVE them. It is nice to know that they are now found in Colombo, thanks to Momos by Ruvi. The different varieties are absolutely yum. They are soon going through outgrow the quaint little shop 😊
Cute little place with some delicious momos aka dimsums. A little on the expensive side for the place. However, the dimsums are lip smacking.
Very tasty, but we have to eat a lot. Small place. Nice arrangements.
