For decades, this corner bar near Penn Station has been drawing pints & plating simple pub fare.
Good food, nice selection of beer and friendly staff!
Either racist or just extremely rude:We walked out with 25 people due to their rudeness/racism.I dont post reviews about places ever, but this seemed crazy to me. We had a group of about 25 people looking for a place last minute, and picked thus place at random because it was nearby. Most of our group already arrived to this place and was seated.... mostly white people. We walk in to join them. There are three remaining chairs at the table and four of us. Its a Friday night pub, not a formal restaurant or anything. My friend who I just arrived with, a person of color, asks the man at the next table who has a vacant chair if we can have the chair. The man says sure, no problem, so my friend tries to move the one chair to the big table. An old Irish woman comes out yelling at my friend saying that is her chair and we cant move it. At first we thought maybe she was sitting in it already, so we clarified. She said no, that this was her place (meaning the bar), that is her chair, and that chair belongs at the other table in case the man at the table is meeting someone. She is yelling at my friend. We clarified that we asked the man already if he was using the chair, and he said no, we could take it. She is still yelling at us saying saying we cant have the chair. What was going on seemed obvious to me. Our seated group hadnt ordered yet, so we walked out with 25+ people and they lost our business that night and forever. How places in NYC think they can operate like that when there are a million bars on any block is beyond me. I am aware I cant be 100% certain that this person was acting out of racism, but whether or not racism was involved, that is terrible service.Hope this is useful to someone reading.
Absolutely loved this place was entertaining the entire time. Great food ( from what I could see great atmosphere. And the ladies that like to come here are #1. Great drinks with a friendly staff that know to keep you engaged.
We got there on a rainy day after a great flight to New York City. The waitress was nice an brought the food quite quickly. We both had French onion soup, and seafood basket. I also had a nice cup of coffee. Everything tasted great and there was plenty of it. A good number of hockey fans came in for a drink before a game that was played nearby.
Nice clean place close to MSG. A little pricey for fish and chips but the food was good.
I went there for a couple of drinks 💘 it im chilling the nxt time lunch..
Reall great spot to eat within walking distance to MSG
9 Sept, 2022. Says open at 11am, doors still shut at 1145. Update your hours.
So rude. I asked for pasta with mushrooms, and the waiter said that menu doesn’t have it. I asked if the mushrooms could be added, but he said it will be too complicated. He yelled at me saying he won’t serve me if I didn’t look at the menu properly. He literally humiliated me in front of every one and walked away. Even though I wanted beer and was okay with no pasta.
Dinner and drinks. Not bad, food was pub-level. Friendly service
I was there for the first time in 2019 and had the bangers and mash and loved it. I just went last weekend, first time since 2019 a d the bangers and mash werent on the menu. Our server checked with the kitchen and they made it for me!! Was just as good as I remembered!! Our server was great, service was amazing and our order came out quickly!! Will definitely come back
We stopped in this cozy irish pub before our concert at msg. Just wow. An amazing experience. Great friendly quick service. We sat at the clean and tidy bar. Enjoyed the best corned beef and pastrami sandwiches we ever ate. The brews on tap were plentiful and tasty. I suggest a Guinness or the Brooklyn lager. As a 40 year old male that shoots guns and rides a harley this place made me wanna cry it was that special. Kudos to the owner and staff of this authentic irish pub for an outstanding establishment.
Good little Irish pub, good was decent not great but the staff was very friendly
Hilariously appalling and unattractive /inedible food. 5 stars. Hopefully your intestines will have the ‘luck of the Irish’
Best pub around, warm and friendly staff.
Stopped by with family to have drinks and an ice cream. It was quiet, relaxing, and all the staff were friendly.
Angela the owner keeps this “ historic landmark going in her husbands memory.
Nice hole in the wall Irish bar with a decent menu...very welcoming
If you are a tourist, don’t go there. You won’t feel welcome at all. Oh my god, my second bad experience in NYC. I told myself: again???? And yeah, again. It happened, again. We ended up in this bar, also restaurant, we really wanted to have fun. Well, after only one drink, we decided to go away. The bartender was really not in the mood to welcome customers like tourists. So, we will recommend this place, at all!
Had a very unpleasant experience here a couple of days ago. The server asked us "how many" and we said "two." He seated us and brought us menus. We asked him for a drink menu and ordered a beer for each of us. Soon after we started drinking our beers, the waiter came up and asked us if we were going to order food. We said "no," we were just having a beer. The waiter became angry and started removing the placemats and silverware from the table. He told us that we were sitting in the wrong place. (He was the one who had seated us! There were very few customers in the pub. My advice to anyone is be sure that you understand what the rules are regarding where to sit or you are going to be reprimanded and treated disrespectfully. I will never return.
Food came so fast and was excellent. Great spot to go to before a might at MSG
I had the lamb stew and it was the best thing I ever ate. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Cant wait to go back.
We had some time to kill while waiting for a train, so we stopped by Molly Wee for a quick lunch. I really enjoyed their chicken pot pie. The service was friendly. It felt like a neighborhood bar.
The Molly Wee burger is pretty damn good! & Connie the bartender was great! Ive been here a few times, need to come back more to try more food items!
Only gave it 4 stars because they know the proper way to pour a pint of Guinness. The food was alright. The service was 👍🏻👍🏻
Very friendly and helpfull staff. they have an true relaxed Irish background. Will go back there for sure.
There were 3 pubs within a block from each other so we flipped for it. The pace has a few patrons at the bar and tables, definitely not busy. Started off with a wonderfully poured $9 Guinness. We ordered 2 burgers with fries. Everything was prepared correctly and the service was fine. It wasnt the best burger in the world but perfectly acceptable served with lettuce, tomatoes and onion.Overall I would definitely recommend the restaurant. Everything hit the spot.
Suzie is the best!!! Great place to meet with a friend and catch up after all this time. Definitely a new go-to spot.
This place is a go to for a quick beer or to hang out with friends to talk. The staff and customers are always fun to be around. Always attentive, engaging, and wiling to share interesting stories.
Great place with lots of atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was delicious and served promptly. A nice variety of things to order. Next time I think Ill try the shepherds pie. Ill definitely be back.
I came here back in 2019, my cousin and I were on a crew working construction and the manager was always nice and sweet. We had the greatest server, sadly I dont remember her name :( white older woman, kindest thing. We would always come in on Sat night in our work clothes and drink and eat. I would soley visit NY just to visit this place again. The manager told us of how it got its name from her family. Such a great place. Highly recommend Shepard pie.
Had a great time before the Rangers game. Cold beer and good food for reasonable ny prices!
Great food, slappin fish and chips. Great atmosphere, the employees are all super friendly
Unassuming little place from the outside. Inside is cozy and the staff are fun and friendly. Irish accents made us feel we found a good place for real Irish/Gaelic food. We got the open-faced reuben and the shepherds pie. We finished it all, no leftovers! We asked how big the shepherds pie is, “not sure if I’ll be able to finish it.”“If you like it, you’ll eat it!”Can’t argue with that! Fiancé loved it, and ate it all! Will come here again.
Great Irish bar! Food is fine but pricey. Typical for Manhattan though. Not a bad place to grab a bite before a Knicks game.
Nice Irish Pub set up for sports watching. The owner or manager was on site setting the jukebox to her taste and enjoying it. Good taste. Food was good and it ended up being a nice stop on our long walk north from Downtown
Great place to grab a drink! I didnt get any food, but the service was awesome. Ill be back to try out the menu.
The Loster Bisque and carrot soup was great, but it ended there. The Pastrami sandwich had hardly any meat and maybe a dozen French fries, the bar tender was unfriendly. She hardly said a word. Many Irish bats in manhattan better then this.
I came here for the first time today. This is such a charming little Irish Pub. The place is clean and the waitstaff was very friendly. They have a decent sized menu with reasonable prices. I got the Bacon Cheeseburger with Fries and it was delicious. The bartender here also makes a wicked Margarita. This place is in the perfect location since Madison Square Garden and Penn Station are close by. I recommend checking this place out and I will definitely be back again.
Cute little pub, Jim the bartender was awesome, super fun to be around. Drinks are reasonably priced, especially if you get one of their daily specials. Not fancy or frilly, but does what it sets out to very well.
Being a local in the area this is by far one of my favorite places to go weekly ! They have amazing food and drinks and a jute box ! Alicia the manager is so lovely ! Very warm and welcoming! But by far my FAVORITE Thing about molly wee is the bartender , Alan. His personality just really brings this place to life ! He knows how to have a good time , keeps you laughing, and makes a great drink ! Would definitely recommend this place to everyone ! great staff, great atmosphere!
The bar is cool, and the bacon cheese burger is classic!
The Molly Wee has a feeling that puts you in the heart of New York while holding on to the Irish bar feeling we all love. I had amazing Chicken Tacos here with a couple of delightful pints. The ability to come and feel welcome isn’t easy anywhere and yet I did. Will be coming back with friends and an appetite!
Good beer, awesome service and decent food. It’s a chilled pub and relaxing to hang on a Friday afternoon
Been coming here for years and this last visit was the same as every other visit...Great!!! Would come here during the week with work friends during week days. Great place to hang out after a trying day. Come the weekends great place to stop in with family for a fantastic burger and appetizers. Main meal plates are also well made and flavorful. Consistent high quality food and service.
A standard Irish Pub with standard good service and good food just the way I like it reasonable prices on drink and food
Great drinks, great atmosphere, and great service! A true fan of New York sports, the TVs were playing the Rangers and Knicks games. There was seating available and drinks were a reasonable price, good memories were made here. Will definitely be back again soon!
Nice Irish bar. The food and beer is great. The staff are friendly and professional. The place fills up after an event at Madison Square Garden.
Nothing special. Not worth going out of your way for. Right next to Penn Stn which merits 2 stars but otherwise I would avoid. If you commute on LIRR or NJT maybe worth it but thats it. Staff is not friendly and very short when engaging with customers. Unfortunate as the location is nice. Entrance is wheelchair accessible. Standard bottom and mid shelf spirits. Nothing else worth mentioning for a place like this.
Awesome little pub, with friendly service and good prices! The dark wood finishes and furniture will make you feel at home. Great drinks, delicious food, and strong Wi-Fi...this place is just what I needed. Its also conveniently located just a block or so away from Penn Station, so its the perfect spot to stop into after a long train ride.
