Mitsui cuisine M - Japanese restaurant in Taipei, Taiwan
The food is average, the service is average too.
High-end Japanese restaurant
The set menu is really good. Good atmosphere and the place is beautiful. Very good service.
Unbeatable quality for the price and setting. It out weighs any of those smaller omakase boutique shops marketing “hard to get a seat until 3 months later” spots.Simple, clean, fresh, good spot for a nice japanese meal and a quiet chat.
Pretty good but not amazing. The food is excellent but the place is just a little too dark, too big and too non personal for my taste. But again, the food is good and priced rather well for its level (which is high).
Been here twice, food was really great both times. Staff were super friendly and helpful, they gave valid suggestions and would worry about you ordering too much. The interior was really nice. If you dont know what to order, just ask the staff, tell them about your budget and food preference, I am sure you will have a great dining experience there.
Here it is! what I would consider to be the best food in town amongst a very few others. primarily they serve superb seafood, a bit of real love beef, not the glued together junk that smells and almost looks real, but the good stuff from a very select few breeders in Japan. On a good day the chefs cannot be beat. Tasty, scrumptious and just the right atmosphere to make an evening date the one to remember. It is where I would take an old friend or new flame to to prove that I honor them and the privilege of their acquaintance, no sheet. its that good. you get order a la carte or the set menu which will leave you perfectly satisfied. Be prepared to be completely sated and do t lose it when the bill costs about 70 to 100 bucks USD per person. The decor is classy and the entrance is.one of those black curtains on a black wall type that does not have a name or an mention of what place you are going. you open the velour curtain and enter into a huge very dark and swanky place to feed. Its da bomb Do it on my recommendation.
What do they say.. don’t judge a book by the cover, and don’t judge a restaurant by the decor. You are invited to sanitize your hands on entry, very important these days, before entering the dark dinner floor, with the open kitchen in the background like a stage in a theatre. Food and drinks were of good standard and impressive for the price. Top tip: leave room for the free desserts.
First impression walking in: service staff felt snobby and was rather ill informed of the menu items. Couldn’t tell us what was on their lunch set menu for the dayFood: very mediocre to bad. Very rare that by the second course into the meal, we lost all interest to continue. The omakase was a revolving door of disappointment after disappointment. One of our worst dining experience in Taipei.1Sashimi was badly cut - too thick and cut along (rather than againstthe grain making it hard to chew2Uni: I don’t think it was fresh. Usually a big fan of Uni, but I could barely finish it. The Uni on top of the yam just doesn’t work3Beef - three sad thinly sliced pieces of beef... tasted very mediocre4Nigiri sushi was fishy and very badly made (picture). We told the manager and he told us that it was meant to taste fishy. Haven’t heard such comments before. By that time, we were so uninterested in the meal that we couldn’t be bothered to pursue further5“Dessert” was a sad two pieces of cookies that looked like it came out of a biscuit tin.Won’t be back.
Superb Japanese restaurant near City Hall MRT. Excellent fresh seafood and meat dishes. A popular place, so reservations are recommended in advance. A limited selection of wines, and many wines were even sold out, but had no problems finding a good Sancerre for the meal. Friendly and efficient service. They close early (22:00), so dont go here too late in the evening.
Came here for lunch.Good quality sushi, excellent cuts of Toro.I recommend getting the Nigiri!
We ordered 3 defferent lunch sets. There is no much difference among lunches. The tuna sashimi is kind of fishy. The quality and taste of final desert are difinately not matching the name of Mitsui. However the service is great, but it becomes rush toward the end of lunch hour.
Slow service. Food was fresh. Good value but not sure if want to come back.
Good good but price in high range. Good for business meal.
Excellent service, the staff actually advised us that we ordered too much and we cancelled one dish and the food was just enough.Top notch Japanese food-sushi was great and very fresh. The grilled beef was excellent. The Shabu Shabu was great, soup base was delicate and there was a staff to cook the shabu shabu for us and it was done very well. The atmosphere is chic and you would have thought it was a high end New York steak restaurant rather than a Japanese restaurant. Very high ceilings and spacious
Nice ambient, great food, fantastic service. This place has limited choice of beers but the German beers are great. The entrance may require some "treasure hunting" for first timer though. Its a nice place for small group of family and friends for a nice and cozy dinner.
Great experience and satisfying lunch.
This is a very late review as I visited this restaurant summer of 2015. I remember being very impressed with this restaurant. We had the lunch set menu. This restaurant I would go to for special occasion because of the price and the fact that Taipei has plenty of amazing foods for a fraction of the price.
The price of the Lunch menu set is reasonable. I enjoy the overall dining experience although the quality of sashimi is below my expectation.
Located in downtown Xinyi district near 101 and surrounded by office buildings and shopping malls. Nice interior decorations and very good place to have office workers for lunch and/or bring clients to. To start of, I wanted to know the difference between the 1200 set vs 1500 set (1200 set has descriptions while the 1500 does not), was told that the 1500 has better quality of sushi and so on.... was not told exactly the difference therefore it was extremely vague. Anyhow, I went for the NT1500 set.My 1500 set:• The sashimi had to much tendon (as seen in the pictureand thou sashimi was on ice, but still tasted only just a bit cooler then the room temperature.• The side vegetables was fine• Steak was just a bit too over-cooked (was never offered how I wanted steak, such as rare, medium rare, etc)• Shrimp was good• Rice is fine with a huge oyster on the top• The fish soup is good thou scare to look at it 😁• Dessert fruits and ice cream was good• Last item, coffee was fine.Overall, the environment is very good. Pricing is fair for its location and decor. The customer service is good except the one who attended me that I felt did not explain clearly. The sashimi was below average IMHO.
The first thing I thought was oh boy this is gonna cost me. It looks like the type of place you take a date you wanna impress. The wine and sake are ridiculously expensive. Then the first few pages of the menu are prix fix meals for around $2800. It has a bunch of stuff ranging from sushi to steak and some Chinese food. However when you finally get to the normal part of the menu its really not that bad. One piece of nigiri will run you about $100. The A5 wagyu was $900, which was a little steep, but it was enough meat and tasted like a really good pan fried steak. All said and done I got 8 pieces of nigiri and a small steak for $1800 (about $60 USD).Some of the reviews mention the service not being great, but they were relatively good to me. I had a few waiters and some guy who looked like the manager come check on me. The meal did take a bit long to come out, but its a fancy place. You shouldnt be in a rush to leave. The one small detail they missed was picking up the hand towel they bring you at the beginning of the meal. I got to stare at that thing the whole night.Overall I would recommend.
One of our favorite seafood restaurants in Taipei. Food is super fresh, excellent wine and drink menu and overall great value for the quality you receive.
NT2800 for 8portionI don’t eat beef , they changed it to long legged crab
Gteat place to dine, good environment and good food, price match with the food and environment!
Came here for dinner an anniversary meal for two, and found the dining experience delightful. Decor is very modern and dimly lit, service not bad but food and ambiance were exceptional.A pleasant surprise for the night was live jazz from an acclaimed musician “Adam James Sorensen” - look him up. He comes every Tuesday for the next few weeks. Voice was superb and he entranced us with his rich textured vocals. I’d pay to see him again and grabbed his card.I noticed a lot of reviews mentioning the high price, but this is only if you choose to order a set meal per person which range from per 1800 ($60 usdto 3500 nt (115 usd). However I paid a very reasonable 1400nt per person (inclusive of all taxesfor a very generously portioned meal that left us very full (we could have ordered less). My suggestion is to order ala carte or order one set menu to share + additional dishes al carte; you’ll not only be left filled to the brim with delicious and fresh seafood, but save a lot of money without compromising on the fine dining experience. We ordered 1 okamase 1800nt set meal, and budgeted an additional 600nt for tea and ala carte varieties of sashimi, sushi and roasted dishes.Total came up to around 1390nt per person; including taxes and service charges. All in all, a wonderful experience, and highly recommend going on a Tuesday to catch Adam’s live jazz and rich vocals.
Great Japanese cuisine at affordable prices. Very good service from staff.
Express lunch is great. $500NTD. House white is excellent and $1580/bottle. Nice dining environment and friendly service
Decent restaurants for fine dining. Live classic music. Environment and atmosphere are very nice. Great place for special date / celebration. Japanese cuisine. We ordered dinner set. Food is delicious and fresh. But the portion may be a bit too much for ladies.
First time here and had high expectation for Mitsui... The food was ok... but I understand maybe I’m not an expert in Japanese style seafood. But the staffs definitely need more education since my friend’s sashimi had a fishbone in it (and they apologized for it immediately, which was great). And while my friend went to restroom and had her dessert unfinished, the staff just took it away without asking or waiting for her coming back...
Fantastic food in friendly atmosphere
High-class Japanese restaurant in the busy district. Well furnished~ The food is of good quality and freshly made, and the service is quick. It is a good place for group dining, though it is indeed expensive. An experience of coming here is unforgettable!
Fantastic sea foods with-comfortable environment
Food is great, you can switch the courses of the course meal if you have something that youre afraid to eat. Beef is good also.
If you like Japanese food you will not be disappointed. Friendly, attentive service and at night they have live music which is just at the right volume- no yelling required to talk to your dining companions 🙂
Had dinner with a large group of friends during our tour of Taipei. This restaurant was recommended and booked by our concierge. We ordered a Party of Two and several other a la carte dishes. The green uni sushi was terrific, but the sashimi assortment arrived before the wakame and fern salad, which unfortunately never arrived. We continually had to ask for our dishes (which were all good, especially the the pan-fried tilefish, grilled wagyu beef, and duck belly on riceand they were served out of order and threw off our meal a bit.Someone ordered lobster and we were only told around the 5th course that it wasn’t available. Snow crab was offered instead and it thankfully arrived in ten minutes. The wait staff wasn’t particularly attentive; we had to ask for our drinks multiple times as well and a couple of times had a plate or two languishing on the wait table right beside us. Lost patience by dessert and took the last two plates ourselves. All in all, the food ranks 9/10, the sommelier 11/10, and the wait staff 3/10.Love the food, the service was completely off the night we were there.
Came here at the recommendation of a family friend. Was not disappointed. The restaurant itself is spacious, clean, modern. Can definitely be pricey but the quality of the service and the food justified it for me at the time. The Alaskan king crab salad was definitely a highlight for me. Can be quite busy so you may want to make a reservation. Also helpful if you have someone with you who speaks the native language as there is a bit of a barrier there.
We came at a friends recommendation. It turned out to be even better than what we expected. It looks like a mysterious secret club from the main entrance, and opens up into a spacious eating area once youre inside. The set meals are very value for money. The mid-range set already gives you many special items such as sea urchin, grilled crab/lobster, grilled beef, sashimi, sushi, dessert etc. Theres complimentary coffee too! Its a great place to recharge before facing the hot summer sun again.
Mitsui is a bit on the pricey side, however, the ambiance and service are first rate. The ever changing chef choice set meal is awesome with good selection of lobster, roasted tuna, beef and assorted nigiri sushi. Mitsui also offer excellent selection of top rated sake that goes well with the meal.
Very fresh seafood at super decent price
I was disappointed with the food and the service was not good (English was poor and had to wait ages to be served). I ordered the most expensive set menu 3200NT and the food was disappointing and ordinary. I could have cried when I was served 3 slices of plain fruit (apple, kiwi, melonon a plate, no sauce. Gloopy starter, dessert was tiny and poor! Beef was great, but just 3 cubes. GFs vegetarian menu was boring. Not worth the money! Decor and ambience was good! Had so much better Japanese food in London for same price. They need to seriously raise their standards for this price!
Impressive, dark interior that gives ample space for business conversations. Probably a tad stiff for private dinner.Food is presented well, they were even able to whip up a decent vegetarian meal.Fairly good sake selection, but was hoping for some namazake (unpasteurizedin the season.Lots of wait staff that could be a bit more attentive for the price level.
Really nice, but extremely expensive restaurant. Its incredibly fancy, and you might feel a bit out of place eating on your own. Staff is really friendly and very knowledgable though!
Food are good but doesnt feel very Japanese
I really like the atmosphere here! I ordered the Unagi Don Grilled Eel rice and it tasted really nice ! I hope to come here again soon!
Food was well portioned to fill you up, and good ambience, but food-wise nothing to really set it apart from other similar Japanese restaurants at the same price range, in the aspects of freshness or presentation. Crabs had soggy texture, tasted quite bland and didnt have the usual umami.Friendly service, but could be more attentive. Even at only half-full, it was slow to get service, and paying the bill took longer than necessary. In a nutshell: somehow feels like a mass-market chain where there is a lack of passion from the staff & chefs where profit & turnover is prioritized over honesty of the food
Restaurant is beautiful and food is great as well! Service could be better but otherwise an amazing may romantic restaurant to dine in.
Price is good and place is privateService is nice but hav to be waiting longer for dishes
Nice atmosphere, excellent service, good selection of sake.
I love the atmosphere and their surprising menus. The seafoods are fresh and overall they taste are pretty good!
It is overall not a bad place to have dinner with colleagues or friends or families. Price is okay, and the food is pretty okay as well. After visited them several times, I just feel like they need a bit of menu reinvention or food innovation to surprise their loyal customers.
