Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center - Historical landmark in Williston, United States
I liked the trail that runs just outside of the center. It does go for quite a ways but a section runs next to the river where we saw a beaver lodge, numerous birds, loads of grasshoppers, fall colors, etc The center was modern and well staffed. Not busy when we visited during the week.
This is part of the Fort Buford Historic Site as well as where you purchase your tickets. The building is clean, well- kept, with a pleasant staff. Your free includes the Fort, museum, video, and a gallery dedicated to Sitting Bull.
Nice area with great views. Fort Buford is amazing and where Sitting Bull surrendered. Good display and information on Stting Bull.
Good historical information.
Well done and informative center. Information on the rivers as well as Sitting Bull (without an opinionated presentation, that was refreshing). Exhibits and video for $5; free for veterans. Ticket also good for Fort Buford. Walkway to view the confluence. Lots of mosquitoes. Only negative was person manning the desk as when asked how to get to viewing area to see the confluence, he replied he didnt know . . . . Definitely worthwhile to take the timeto visit this out of the way spot and visualize the Native Americans and the Lewis and Clark Expedition passing through.
Well worth the drive. Very informative, educated staff, vets get in free.
Wonderful place to visit. The museum has two wings, one about the local area and the other about Chief Sitting Bull. Both worth spending some time in. History has it that it was here at Fort Buford, Sitting Bull was arrested, detained then sent to Fort Yates.ATTENTION Veterans, ask about a Veterans Discount for the Museum Entrance. The staff here was helpful and friendly.
Interesting video on the nearby fort and an informative display about Sitting Bull and the Lakota Native Peoples.Cannot see the confluence.
Very informative... Sitting Bull exhibit was nice with nearby Fort BufordNot a very good view of rivers sadly
Nice exhibits plenty of birds but use bug repellent. Lots of mosquitoes!!!
Let me in with only minutes to closing (no charge)
Informative, friendly staff
Very nice experience at this important place. Nice museum and friendly staff.
The most beautiful part of N Dakota
This was very cool. I didnt know the Yellowstone river was in North Dakota!
Loads of information about the area. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff members.
Trees are overgrown and partially block the view but it is still visible from a few spots
Excellent new Sitting Bull display. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Good educational experience.
Very educational. Excellent film. Dont miss this important place!!
Very nice museum with North Dakota history.
We stopped on our way to Yellowstone National Park and few weeks ago. The kids and adults had fun learning about the confluence, and later in the trip we learned about the River and lake at Yellowstone themselves, which ended up being a nice tie through the whole trip.I gave 4 stars as it was maybe 15 minutes to closing time and most of the workers were trying to shuffle us out. One worker spent some time with us in the observation room - there was a special display, but they wouldn’t let us in the main museum. Too bad, I have middle school aged kids that really love that stuff so we will have to stop back in some day if we ever drive this way again.
Nice small museum. Great history!
This was not anything spectacular, but for people like me who are interested in seeing how our rivers and land form, I enjoyed it!
Very interesting all the displays are well done great place to bring the family the grounds are beautiful.
Outstanding site and the staff is excellent 👍. The Masonic site is great. I must see in ND....
Wonderful place to visit and learn the history of the Fort. Nice video history 20 min. Great views of the confluence.
A very enjoyable area. It has a really nice museum, a modest little riverwalk and Fort Buford. Loved all the museums, I just wish there was more of an area for recreation. Definitely would recommend for a day trip.
Very interesting historical facts and photos inside. Wish I could have gone during the winter, the trees and growth along the river bank completely block the view.
A lot of history took place here. It helps a lot to actually see the place (even though this is a replica, the actual fort is now under water).
Scenic...visitor center closed.
Great view of the rivers. Nice staff. $5.00 per person entry for film and 2 nice galarys.
Nice museum and a scenic overlook of the rivers. Even a nice walk along a paved path.
The interpetive center was really nice. We were disappointed that it was so difficult to see the rivers. The center needs a viewing platform on top with information boards.
Guide was full of knowledge. Very helpful.
Great learning experience
Beautiful museum and walking path along the Missouri and Yellowstone Rivers. There is a small garden with a lot of birds and ground squirrels visiting outside in the summer.
Friendly staff. Interesting items in museum and gift shop. Stellar river walk and views
A little bit of history and some nice walking trails while you learn. Worth it if you are in area and want to get outside.
Awesome picnic place and view, quiet and peaceful
Beautiful new museum information center at the meeting of the Missouri and Yellowstone rivers in N Dakota. Worth the stop and the $5 for the museum. Right next to Ft Buford and the 1st Masonic Lodge in the area.
This is a really nice place to visit. There are picnic tables, but there are also tons of mosquitoes. They have guided tours available, videos and a museum for $10 a person.
Really really disappointed in this Center. The walk by the river you were not able to see the actual merge of all the rivers they needed a better vantage point. The gallery inside was a waste of $5.
Worse center we have ever gone to. The outside walkway lacked info on the Confluence; so buggy and galleries inside???? Thete should be an advantage point above the ground to actually see the Rivers meet.
Very nice interpretive center. A good look at local geography, natural and human history. A nice addition to a trip to Fort Union and Fort Buford.
Feeling historical as we looked out across the wide expanse of water, and getting zinged by mosquitoes! The center itself was disappointing as there was really nothing historical (displays, interactive, photosas youd expect at such a place, not even a map of the trails. :-(
Thank you for all the wonderful information and special care you gave us! Our classes really enjoyed their visit! Sincerely, 3rd/4th and 7th/8th grade classes of Prairie Elementary.
Cool to say Ive been here been overall the site was just ok. So many mosquitos!
Nice historical place, the galleries are small but nice, walking paths, and gift store in place.
I loved it when I first saw it and I now enjoy getting to work here. A special piece of North Dakota and our nations history.
Cool place, neat visitor center, nice trails with educative kiosks.
