Mission Inn Museum in Riverside

We took a tour of the museum and hotel. The guide was good and very informative, but she didnt talk very loud and didnt always wait for the disabled people who had to take the elevator to catch up before she continued her lectures.

There is a "person" being completely disrespectful and things I dont even want to clarify knowing how offended I am of her performance here working behind thee counter at "MOLINOS COFFEE" as of 6:45am - 7:06am the "female" or any prefix that "person" may use is wearing a "MOLINOS" black shirt. The weather in here is amazing, but poor quality service from the worker/cashier. I really do hope someone can teach her manners and how to be kind to everyone and anyone.

Paid tours. 15 for residents and 20 for non-residents. The guide was very knowledgeable. Apparently they are volunteering.Hot when explaining outside. Bring sunscreen and ur own shade.Lots of history. Go into hotel to see some rooms, presidential suite. Lots of presidents came here.

The museum was lovely and had interesting facts and stories about the Mission Inn. We took the tour, we were lucky and it was just my girlfriend and I. Our guide was very knowledgeable and was amazing, we learned a lot about the history of the Mission Inn. I would highly recommend taking the tour if possible.

This is a great museum and shop. Whether youre a Riverside local or not this is a great stop. It tells the history of the Mission Inn and Riverside and the significance the Hotel has had in shaping the city as we know it today. Offer a wonderful 75 minute walking tour of the hotel daily.

We took for a guided tour of the Mission Inn. The tour was interesting and the guide was knowledgeable, but the experience was diminished considerably when we were told that only guests at the hotel could take photos. Really?? We paid for the tour, too. And since some people could take photos, there was obviously nothing intrinsically harmful in doing so. At the end of the tour the guide demanded our tour stickers back, I assume to keep any riffraff from going back inside. Since we made this trip in too little time to book a room at the hotel, I was thinking that I might like to do it on a future trip. But after this experience, probably not.

Yes go on the tour! The Mission Inn is amazing. Think of the Hearst Castle, inland empire sized. To think that 30 years ago it was soooo close to being a parking lot!

The tour of the mission inn was very insightful. It is a must see destination for history and architecture and the tour guides do an amazing job protraying that.

Coolest hotel Ive ever stayed at.The Christmas Lights made it even better. It was during a rare "winter" storm, so we even got to see where the ceiling leaked. Thats very sad. Go see this place before it falls apart!

Its kind of hard to tell were you enter the museum portiin of the hotel. Or if the entire hotel is the museum not very clear.

The Mission Inn Museum has a few interesting historical exhibits and is free admission. It was interesting to read about the artifacts as they each had unique historiesThere is also a gift shop as well which had some nice items for sale, we were interested in purchasing some earrings but unfortunately they were closing so we ran out of time.

Lovely grand hotel, great ambience, beautiful holiday lights. Docent tour was excellent.

The Mission Inn is amazing 5 star all the way. The 4 star rating is for the tour. It is worth it BUT we were not allowed to take any pictures. I dont know why when guest were taking pictures. The tour guide was good. She was knowledgeable. I just could not get over the NO picture thing.

We stayed at the hotel and is really beautiful to see and loved the decor, the gardens and a section to see the historical furniture from once they opened in the 1800s The rooms are nice. Bathtub was ok size. I wished the in-room fireplace was operable. And I wish they had 24 hour room service for claiming 5 star BUTTT they had the most buttery, softest bed sheets I had felt and laid on from a hotel in a long time. Theres a nightlife outside the hotel with clubs and food but till 2 am.

First time here, and we took the Docents Tour. It costs $20, and there are AAA and seniors discounts. There are so so many things to see, literally around every corner. Dont wait to go here. Its worth the time and money!

Great Historical Hotel

We had a blast!

Its best to make reservations for dining at any of the restaurants, but they will take walk in but with a wait. Note that if you want to eat breakfast in the Spanish Patio/Courtyard of the Mission Inn Restaurant, they dont start serving the patio area until 9 AM (this wasnt posted anywhere that we could see, neither was it posted on the web page for online reservations).

We got a wonderful tour with lots of historical context. Really enjoyed the upscale scene. It was a very hot day and they had two weddings, so it was crowded and we couldnt see the chapel, but its worth a second and third visit.

Sad to say but every time my family has a funeral we all stay at the Mission. Its a beautiful hotel w/ great customer service. The kids love running the halls of temple and climbing the tower steps there is so much to see in the Misson...

A very nice hotel indeed. Rooms are pretty. Comfortable but the fridge was totally empty. I expected at least cold water. There is a decent coffee machine. Two great restaurants on the ground floor. Rates are way less expensive if you reserve through Expedia or something similar rather than the hotels official website.

We went to this place around Christmas time to enjoy their well known Christmas lights decorations around the Inn but there were not too much decorations. It was still very pleasing sights.

This place is beautiful and theres so much hidden history tucked away in this place! If you ever go for a tour, ask for James! He knows his stuff and hes such a delight. You can tell hes passionate about the mission inns history which makes the time go by super fast on his tours

Well, have been a local to Riverside for the last 20 years and yes I know this area like the back of my hand and absolutely love it; this particular Mission Inn Museum shop has the neatest gifts and curiosities: I mostly stop here for the honey and always lose track of time browsing and dreaming of another era...

Nice place to see and walk around old town

its not so big and its free. it presents the art work of the city Riverside, the historical buildings models and pictures. it takes you about 15 min to see all the art works. you can reserve a tour at the front desk. its around 10 dollars for 1.5 hours. around this museum, there are some coffee shop and old stuff shops you can spend your day there.

Beautiful hotel with amazing architecture. We walk around outside and some inside. Has been visited by many presidents.My kids enjoyed the two talking macaws located outside.

This is an amazing place to come visit. The museum is very informative and the guided tour is a must but if you are lucky enough to be around Riverside during Christmas time, the mission is a dazzling spectacular light extravaganza. A must see for any fan of lights and decorations.

We love going here as the bar inside is always something to experience. Small little museum interesting artifacts from different time periods. Its not big but its great to kill time and see what awesome artifacts are just waiting to be looked at. The do have bells from 1300s all the way up to the present along the shop walls and some pretty cool sculpture. They have a gift shop as well which the ladies who run it are nice and very informative. I highly recommend whoever wants to come to the museum to check it out. Lots of Asian artifacts by the way and a few of the missions original artifacts that belong to the site as well

We love going here as the bar inside is always something to experience. It can get a bit crowded during peek time but worth going as the bartenders are always great and have a lot of info of the area. The Mexican restaurant is nice during the spring and summer months as it is a nice outdoor restaurant with a great atmosphere! The spa is perfect for a relaxing time to get that facial done. Everything about the Mission Inn hotel / Museum and all around it. It is a perfect time to enjoy the history, relaxing and eating experience of the surrounding area. It is a ten through and through!!

The food would be much better if the tap water was filtered. I can even taste the tap flavor on the chicken. I love this place. Please buy a reverse osmosis water filtration system or a charcoal filter changed regularly.

Beautiful museum, I love the architecture and our tour guide was super friendly and made our tour fun.

Very sweet little museum with very kind ladies working here. My children and I enjoyed our visit, the history, the statue if the Roman goddess Pomona, and I walked out with a new book on the history of California citrus. A very special little place to stop by for a visit if you are in Riverside.

Mission Inn is a Riverside treasure, having enjoyed the adventure of exploring this iconic and historic site for 40 years. Each time is a tour filled with wonderment; you will want to spend a few hours walking up and down this maze-like architectural achievement, and definitely want to stay at this fairly priced hotel and enjoy its amenities 😁

Very small setting with few artifacts but you cant go wrong seeing original pieces of history. The staff was amazing. They gave us a great welcome and were full of information. They were great with my 6 year old.

This was a great tour with ONE EXCEPTION... Its lame you cant take pictures. Youve paid to see parts of the Mission Inn so you should be able to take a photograph. Otherwise its a great tour. Wear comfortable shoes, you will do some walking. The docents are very knowledgeable and youll learn quite a bit.
