Mission Estate Restaurant - Restaurant in Napier, New Zealand
I had the fish dish of the day, all the veges on the plate were cold - fish was warm.
Up class fine dining with amazing house wine (need to say?The very modest price makes this place a must come back later for me.
Great wine tasting afternoon and you get a glass to take home,. Must come and done next time.
Beautiful meal here for my birthday.Great good friendly staff and lovely locationThe chocolate fondant was to due for !!
Food and service was great.Interesting menu.Location and setting made it even better.Prices were not over the top and matched the experiance.Pleanty of parking.
The food was absolutely delicious! Try the squid, best Ive ever had. The place was packed & waited a very long time for drinks but staff friendly & competent. Wish the parking lot was lit better, so very hard to see walking to & from car.
good food !good flavour! I love it!
Evening Meal for 12. Not one complaint. Service, Staff, Facilities, Price Faultless.Must do. Simply the best
Spectacular Saturday lunch with good friends at the Mission yesterday. Restaurant was full but the staff were handling it well. Delicious food, excellent service from Sarah and her colleagues, and of course amazing wine.
As a part of my Sperm Donation New Zealand tour, 3rd stop on a sunday i ventured here. They charge for the tasting here but you get a memoir glass which makes it all worth it, great vibe, birds chirping and good wine.
Felt very cramped in, especially in main restaurant. You dont want to hear what others are talking about. Simple issues need to be refined with service, 3 different waiting staff, cutlery layout.
Absolute must-do! A beautiful estate right on the bike/walking trail. Lovely wine and even better views. The host was so kind and pleasant. We did the self-guided wine tasting which was $10 NZD per person - 10 tasting wines for the two of us and two souvenir wine glasses. The wines are also well priced, so go home with a bottle of your favorite, for sure! Then you can walk around the property and learn about the history of the winery. Absolutely worth doing!
Been here quite a few times, with and without little kiddies, and the service and food are always excellent. Highly recommended when youre in the Bay. I would recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.
Set menu - small group of about 20 - was very good, great wine and platters to start, mains and desert - perfect. Yum and thank you 😊
Lovely meal with great service and cosy warm setting.
Disappointed. The two stars are purely for the food which was amazing.Such a beautiful place and location but unfortunately the service was really poor. After sitting down for about 10 minutes we had to actually call the waitress (while serving other table which by the way sat after usto give us the menu!We finally order some drink and took another 20 minutes to be able to catch thier attention for food menu. Other tables were informed with the special of the night when we had to constantly call some one for service. Other people were also complaining about the salt and pepper shakers been empty and they were taking them from other tables!!!!We also spotted rubbish at the front desk and on the floor. On the way out again had to WAIT for someone to come to the front desk so we could pay!!!Dont think we go there again.
Had lunch on a sunny busy Sunday. Food was delicious and served without delays. Great service. A very lovely treat.
I was fortunate to hv Dinner last nite and lunch today. The service was excellent, lovely staff, lovely young lady last nite and today great service from Joll..Food on both occasions could not fault...Well done to you all...Will highly recommend the MER
Absolutely fabulous, fine wine & dining. You can always guarantee excellent experience at Mission winery. Hawkesbay very fortunate to have such great dining.
Wine experience very informativeJenny our host was excellent friendlyStunning views check out the cellar downstairs and the tribute to the missionaries was wonderfuland make sure you buy the beautiful wines as you leave!!
Very helpful manager and staff. Very efficient and in a great spot. Food looked nice, but was a bit average . Not very tasty.
Beautiful property. Nice to see how long this vineyard has been going with the old bottles on the wall in the tasting room. Really like their Bordeaux and Rhone varietals
Spent an evening with friends. We sat in the lounge area shared a platter between us. Platter was disappointing for the $55.00. Included several meats a very disappointing duck liver pate, several cheese, 2 lots of breads lots of water crackers!! Some yellow cauliflower florets lots of small sliced tomatoes!! With a bunch of grapes and extremely wilted lettuce. Along with this we had to endur a cool breeze blowing in the door which the staff declined to close but they did turn on the heater. Unfortunately we had to listen to their rather noisy chatter the throwing of bottles into the bin. A very uncomfortable evening spent at what was my favourite restaurant.
Enjoyed an amazing platter best ever! Staff are very attentive but very busy - when we were served that was the last of staff. Not 5 stars as we were concerned with ALL the bar staff NOT wearing masks.
There is simply no better spot for an outdoor lunch in Napier! Delicious food and always well staffed with friendly service. We find it it a great place to bring the baby and pram
Had the most delicious meal today with my Hubble & big Sis after a tasting with Trevor. Stunning is the word that comes to mind.Sat under the decorative grape vine, waited on by the loveliest of staff who were so helpful & pleasant.Recommend this experience to anyone visiting Hawkes Bay.
So I had a big birthday this year and decided to go a little bit extravagant because, well, why not? Living in Auckland I decided to have lunch in Napier at the Mission Estate restaurant. What a stunning place and not to mention the food! To complete the memorable day, the restaurant staff were outstanding! I was even presented with a complimentary serving board of delicious treats after our meal. Loved spending a few hours at this place; I will definitely want to return. Thank you to everyone for an excellent day
Great friendly staff. Excellent service. Good food.
Marvellous for our 47th Anniversary. Succulent meal and entrée ( salt n pepper squid!!Very busy, no wonder. Covid protocols. Great service, helpful staff, positive dialogue, helpful description s of wine and food choice. Excellent timing of meal delivery. Nice hot plates. Had the lot! Coffee out on the lawn to finish. Thanks to Ricky (top chefand Hannah ( top managerI compliment how you complement each others professionalism. Having wined and dined in 12 countries in PC ( Pre Covid days this was as good as it gets!
Beautiful food, wonderful service, and a menu with many delicious temptations one visit is not enough
My husband and I decided to drop by this estate for lunch because we heard it was the oldest estate in NZ and it was just a tourist stop that had to be made. We weren’t expecting the food to be good but we were pleasantly surprised! Food was really amazing. I highly, highly recommend the truffle cheese bread. I couldn’t stop myself from gobbling it down. The lamb was also very good. We had a couple of drinks to go with it. Simply delicious! And after that we spent some time taking pictures around the estate. You can also do wine tasting here but we skipped it as we had a long travel ahead of us. Overall, great place to dine and relax among friends. The view is just beautiful. Makes whatever you’re eating much more delicious ;)
A main special with wagyu & pork were delicious & beautifully presented. We dined outside & loved a wonderful setting.Service was excellent & enjoyed a bubbly atmosphere in the restaurant.
Fantastic food and service, food was good portion sizes and tasty. Good venue with plenty of seating.
Beautiful venue, very friendly staff and delicious food.We had a booking for 7 people at 6:30 pm on 27th of December but arrived an hour earlier, decided to change our booking which they helped us with a very warm and welcoming smile. Both who attended our table were extremely helpful, patient and friendly. Thanks for excellent customer service and great experience.
Amazing place :)Our family really enjoyed nice food and great view.
What a lovely place for fine wine and food!! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and some splendid tasting wine.
** Warning - very long review.Where do I start.. we have ordered1. Blue cheese souffle.2. The squid entry3. Medium rare beef steak4. Chips as sides5. Brulee6. Lemon tart. The souffle was just a melt in mouth experience, it comes with this jam like sauce which enhanced the taste of the souffle. The squid was very flavorsome yet gentle which was really nice start for the meal. The beef steak... The best steak I haven ever had. The sauce and other was great as well maybe not as great as other fine dining place I have visited but still very tasty and top notch quality. But the steak, the best I ever had in my life... Never would thought the steak can "melt in your mouth".. so juicy and tender, non of chewy business. I could just visit Napier again just to have this dish.Brulee and lemon tart too were amazing. Not too sweet or sour, everything was well balance and tasty. The tart was definitely house baked/made of cour along with all other stuff they would have served.. just wow with everything I had. With very kind staff and wonderful dining environment and experience. I thought I would provide my very first long and detailed google review to this restaurant. Definitely worth everything.Thank you.
Absolutely brilliant food and service. Very friendly staff. Made you feel welcome. Highly recommend.
Every dish was perfection,I especially enjoyed the fish of the day which was probably the best fish dish I have ever had. The price is very reasonable for the quality and the service staff are very good aswell.
Nice! Very warm and professional service. Friendly staff. Recommend
The food here is spectacular, all the dishes had varying textures and used good quality ingredients, the lamb was tender and juicy, potatoes were cooked through but not overdone, and cauliflower mash was creamy and had a nice truffle oil finish. The food is all very fatty though - everything has added oil which is a bit much if you arent used to eating such rich food like myself. Still 5 stars though - they were very busy on a public holiday, yet all our food arrived at the same time and took only around 10 mins to arrive. Worth going back to for a special occasion.
Service and fiid both were good. Portion sizes are pretty big too. Beautiful ambience and such a good place to rest and relax. Menu has a great variety, selection of wine is too good.
We stopped at Mission Estate Restaurant during our cycling trip in Hawkes Bay. Great stop for yummy food and a glass of wine. Comfortable seating inside and outside. Staff were attentive and friendly.
Great venue always and a beautiful setting for a meal but its a shame the food never quite hits the highs expected. I had the fish and it was tasteless and overcooked and was in a bed of some also tasteless mush.. very disappointing meal overall.
The mission estate restaurant is one of the most delightful places to have a 5 star meal. Situated in the old Mission Estate seminary facing the vineyard and views over Napier Hastings you can expect to be served a plate of magic food that perfectly matches the superb wines on offer. Match a meal with a wine tasting and stroll around the estate is a must. Highly recommended.
Nothing not to like about this place.Location - top classStaff - attentive and friendlyFood - ah yes the food. Delicious!Wine - cant forget the wine. Plenty of it of course and its all very tasty!
People called this place is Birth place of the New Zealand wine. I agree with every one who love Mission Estate Wine and they very nice place too eat and drink there food and wine. They will help you out which food go with which wine. We love it. Very helpful and friendly staffs. They got lots of car parking available for you.
Superb evening all round. Great staff, great food and wine and very good value. We had the share platter to start which was awesome, see photo. Desert with wine also very good.
What a lovely historical venue with fantastic vistas and most importantly great food. The garlic bread with blue cheese butter was sublime. These guys really know how to cook a steak, with fillets done to rare perfection. The pan seared snapper with wine jus did not disappoint either.Salad and cooked veges were fresh and excellent with lively dressings that gives you brief thoughts of being vegetarian.Panacotta with Expresso was a fantastic way to finish the meal, though the Eden Mess was also very tempting.Staff were incredibly helpful, efficient and a joy to have serve us. They are all amazing people.
Very nice winery, but the staff are not that friendly and they look bored.... Being a famous winery, I expected this place to have knowledge and passionate staff so I could learn more about wine industry. Didn’t happen. But the place itself is gorgeous and I could imagine someone have weddings here too (it’s also Catholic Church owner).
