Mission Escape - Escape room centre in Exeter, United Kingdom
Company went into liquidation post COVID, website still accepts bookings for some reason. Waste of a day.
I might have enjoyed Chernobyl if it was my first escape room. It was my 5th and by far the weakest Ive played. There was no story at all despite Chernobyl being a concept with a lot to work with. We were just put in the room, given a hint for the first puzzle and basically told to get on with it. No explanation as to why we were in Chernobyl with a 1 hour time limit.Virtually every single puzzle was a 4 number combination lock. Most of it was very linear, such that even with only 3 people we often found moments where one of us had nothing to do. Get the password, get a clue for the next password, get the password, rinse and repeat. The most interesting puzzle in the room was solved when we got there because the host forgot to lock it. We had no idea where to use this combination we found and carried it around the whole room with us, trying it on every lock. Turns out it was to open a box that was open when we got there.Awesome theme. Awful execution.
Fantastic escape room. We booked two rooms and was enjoyed by both teams. Would definitely recommend if you like a challenge.
Much better than I thought it would be. Had a great night out.
My daughters 14th birthday party treat. They all loved it.
Had great time here yesterday, staff was very friendly. Would recommend for sure!
Great escape room and nice staff!
Such a great experience for my hen do on the 7th August 2021. The 2 guys running the rooms where really fun and interactive they made the whole experience that much better.
Such great fun. Amazing staff. Celebrating a Hen Party. Definitely recommend xx
Having played Maoic Crisis, we thought it was one of the poorer rooms wed played with a few areas for improvement, although it wasnt all bad.Positives first: Staff were friendly, reasonable pricing compared to other escape rooms, we enjoyed ourselves, decent theming. Now the negatives:- The story was literally read to us from a sheet of paper - this immediately screams poor quality. It was an interesting narrative for the room and could have been well executed if it was delivered in a more exciting and engaging manner.- Most of the puzzles involve finding a code and inputting into a computer which lacks imagination.- Many of the puzzles required guesswork and randomly trying numbers in different orders, this is poor design.- Set design felt lackluster. Lighting was poor and we couldnt see the puzzles and numbers a lot of the time.- There was nothing to write on in the room, which didnt help when there are a couple of maths puzzles.- Hints were poorly given. The host basically gave us the answer after we struggled for a bit, instead of prompting us with suggestions of what to try. This takes the fun out of the puzzles.- Game flow is poor. There are not actually many puzzles in the room and they have to be done one at a time, so half the team was often left doing nothing.Overall, the room worked and we had fun, but it felt janky and lazily put together. Instead of discussing which bits of the room were awesome and made us think like we often do with other rooms, we found ourselves slating the puzzle design, being annoyed at having to guess codes and having the host give us answers instead of hints. The theme and story is unique and has potential, just the puzzles need to be more imaginative and interesting to raise the quality of the room. 3/10
Fantastic experience, brilliant staff kept the theatrics going!
Had a great time on the vr game. Lots of jump scares. We made it out in 43 minutes. Staff were friendly and helpful and really helped everyone feel comfortable. Would definitely recommend to friends and hope to go back soon
Great to do as a group. We used four rooms between 22 of us, so great competitive spirit to see which team could escape first....
Great fun. Enjoyed as part of an away day with work.
Rather "basic".Nothing wrong with home made stuff, but probably if you were to build one yourself in your backyard you wouldnt be far off.The building is cold and musty (I went in December). The challenges are essentially all based on padlocks (and working out their codes), which can get a bit repetitive. The various pictures and instructions are rather faded or smudged and hard to read; I suppose this would have been the case for Indiana Jones too, but in our case its more down to the quality of the craftsmanship I think. In theory in the event of a fire all doors should open automatically - it must have been tested I suppose, but I wasnt entirely convinced, given that some doors were locked with old fashioned keys.I found the cost rather steep (£18for the quality of the venue. We did have a good time but I think this was more a reflection of our team than of the quality of the entertainment offered.
Really fun experience, would highly recommend any groups who are visiting Exeter to give it a try!
Great Aztec themed Escape Room. Multiple rooms to find clues and solve many different types of problems. Some unique and clever puzzles never seen before. Friendly staff too.
Terrible experience. The game is poorly designed, some of the interactable props do not work as intended and it was recommended to us that we play in 3 people when the game needs to be played in 4.
Was ok, not the same level of polish that I have seen in other Exeter escape rooms, however the size of the room we did was good, and the puzzles were just the right level of difficulty
The people there are extremely wonderful. I did the room "Bacterium" with my friends, and the room was laid out extremely well. The puzzles were quite challenging, but we learned the pattern and were able to escape within the hour. We didnt ask for hints, but when the lady saw that we were struggling to figure something out, we would hear a little tune, before she gave us a push in the right direction. Will be coming again!
Good place to spend time with a group of friends, usually takes an hour to complete. With great themes and different difficulties to choose.
Last minute booking on Friday, they were more than happy to do the booking. The location itself looks interesting and the game itself was well thought out.Only gripe that I have personally is I cant see well at all in low light conditions (and the room we did had a few places where i did struggle to see a bithowever it went well with the theming.Host was wonderful as well, and kept us going, and with the rare clue here and there we got out with just under 1 minute to go.Worth a visit for sure.
Fun escape room, friendly staff. Will go again.
Fantastic experience for my partners 30th Birthday party. Cant fault it really other than we wanted it to go on a bit longer. Some may find the puzzles a bit easy but for us they were just right. Looking forward to returning in the near future.
Pretty good - we tried the Egyptian room which was a good mixture of puzzles and skill challenges.
Another of the Escape Room experiences. Three to choose from here, we did the most difficult 5 star escape. Good that they supervisor is able to provide prompts to help you along your journey (if required). Can be quite tricky at times, but combined minds aid the solution. Yes, we escaped in time!
Poorly prepared venue. 220 volt UV bulb not fitted in dark area leaving the fitting electrodes exposed.Ladder leading up to the UV area dangerous and not fit for purpose.Torch in another area not working. There were other issues. Not impressed. Very unprofessional set up.
A fun group activity but very over priced for what it is. Worth doing once but Id question the worth at that price of doing the other rooms
Took my son and his friends here for his birthday. Maioc Crisis. They really enjoyed it (although needed a few hints). They want to do another
Great fun, enjoyed our first go. Hard to know if it would have repeat appeal but there are 3 more rooms to try so maybe!
Good fun, although bacterium turned out to be a little on the easy side compared to others Ive been to although we were in a group of 8 which may have helped.
Went as a start to an evening out with work. Recommend this activity as a good way to get started, also a bit of an ice breaker too! Had fun and everyone seemed to like it.
I really enjoyed this escape room but found that with a larger group it was a bit difficult for everyone to stay involved.
Great fun, makes you think a bit , some things felt a little cheap otherwise it would get 5 stars
I didnt exactly have much of a reference point to compare our escape room experience against another, but we went along recently and had an amazing time doing two of the rooms between our two teams. Also, great news... We got out of both 😉. Phew! Would definitely recommend to others, it was a great evening with the team.
Great experience. Looking forward to going back to try another room.
I didnt know what to expect, this being my first escape the room, but it was really quite fun. Even though Im claustrophobic it wasnt too bad, the first room was a little small but we could get out the door in if wed have needed to. The puzzles were the right difficulty and it was definitely fun.
Amazing! We have been there with the children (10, 8, 7 and 3 years oldand it has been a very nice experience for all of them!
I love being locked in peoples basements. Very challenging, fun team activity.
A home-made escape experience. Ive been to half a dozen around Europe and the execution is basic in comparison. The game itself is tricky and makes up for it though. So a really good game plan but made on a budget.
Great experience, could be a little better finished. Mind your head at the top in the Pharoes experience.
We went for their highest difficulty rating room. It was frustratingly difficult and slow to get started, but then it got better after some divine intervention
Having escaped 9 rooms in Plymouth and Exeter, id advise you to do both the Red House Mysteries games (Exeterabove any other. We really enjoyed Maoic Crisis, which had a good variety of puzzles and an immersive story. Pharaohs Anger however was a big disappointment. It was a pokey plywood paradise that offered poor value for money. It was very linear, so one person could effectively escape on their own whilst the rest spectate. Id ask that Pharaohs Anger is charged at half / three quarters its current price.
Did this with some friends. Really good fun and makes you think. Great for those rainy days.
From a slow nervy start, our group really got into the puzzles and by the time we escaped Mission Escape it had delivered what wed hoped - a thoroughly enjoyable and team-building event.....and a big appetite to boot!
Really fun experience. Great for work functions, double dates, etc. Something a bit different, and no hangover! It only takes an hour, so a great way to start an evening, or a rainy day activity.
Nothing much to look at from the outside but the concept is great! We had 1 hour to progress through 3 rooms using our heads to crack different codes and puzzles. We only had 3 minutes remaining but we did it! Would definitely come back and try a different room.
Fun, but not the best in the SW. Staff also seem to give hints too frequently appearing to attempt to get you out asap. Paid for an hour and got out in half that, would have been longer if there had been no hints.
Good fun escape rooms. Some of the puzzles are a little flawed in design (IE you cant tell if youve solved thembut generally this is great fun for family or work events.
Here for Xmas day out with work colleagues. Excellent stuff ... very challenging but not impossible. Recommend it.
