Minnow, 21 The Pavement, London SW4 0HY, Charef
Laid-back, parkside neighbourhood restaurant with al fresco options for all-day drinking & dining.
What tasty meals of duck and sea bream enjoyed by all guests last night. Loved the truffle chips. Thank you for accommodating us and agreeing to holding our table reservation. Traffic caused us an hour delay and we were very pleased not to have to resort to a take away.
Delicious with a capital D food and wonderful ice cold Prosecco on a friend’s birthday. Good puddings and espresso martinis too.
Lovely place with indoor and outdoor seatings. Friendly staff.Unfortunately the food was less than average: the bread was stale and the bacon was too salty.I would come back to have a coffee/drink outside.
A nice place to go for a hot drink and a pastry in the morning. Theres a superior variety of menu choices available. Has a nice vibe in general. Staff are friendly and accommodating.
We had the weekend roast at Minnow. Food was fantastic, and the Yorkshire pudding was light and fluffy. There was a good selection of Vegetarian options as well.
Food was okey, the staff friendly and very detail-oriented. The only bad thing is the table was super small.
Nice place, nice crowdpleasing menu, very nice and friendly staff. Food was a bit hit and miss. Most delicious mussels ever though.
Would definitely come back for the apple blackberry crumble dessert. Steak and cauliflower were good, but the dessert is the standout and what I’d reorder here.
Booked a table for brunch at 12.30 last Saturday. Arrived on time. We were sat outside which we were happy enough about. Took the staff around 10/15 minutes to take our order and another 10/15 minutes to bring beverages (lemonade and coffee). The food arrived around 40 minutes later. I honestly wouldnt have cared about the wait as it was a nice day however, my eggs were cold and so was the toast. Took two bites and couldnt eat anymore. I guess maybe it was just a bad day for them, the staff seemed very nice but under a lot of pressure.
I’ve gave this place a chance too many times but it continues to disappoint every time. Once again, we waited 30 minutes for drinks and 45 minutes for sourdough toast and jam and avocado on toast. When we finally got our food, we couldn’t eat it as it was stone cold. The waitress even agreed it was ‘a mess today.’ They don’t have the staff for the demand and overall it’s just extremely poor and a disappointing service and experience.
Really loved the place, busy, vibrant. The food was nice, I’ve had eggs Benedict and we also ordered Eggs Royals. Flat White was also good. Really loved the service as well, its was chilly outside and we were seated inside once one of the tables was free. Massive thanks for the Ukrainian flag and support!
The mussels and cocktails are amazing! Great place to read a book outside and grab a coffee as well. It doesn’t hurt that the waiting staff are extremely attractive. 👀
Food in my veggie breakfast was tepid. Paid £4.00 for an Americano £3.00 plus 50p for decaf and 50p for oat milk. Only problem with service was when my coffee arrived, I asked the server if it was decaf, "it should be". Right, ok. Lets just hope she doesnt have the same response to people who ask if dishes are nut free... Poached eggs were solid inside. 12.5% oprional service charge which we did not pay because why should we pay people in a cafe to bring our food to us? Wouldnt return.
Tasty brunch and friendly staff, dog friendly too
Warm welcome. Dinner at the lovely Terrace of Minnow.Great food! Lamb and Bavette were superb. Dont forget to order truffle chips!
Friendly, informal with really great food. We ate outside and had a fine view over Clapham Common. Good range of dishes with flavoursome starters as well as classic French/fusion style mains and brilliant desserts. We’ll be back.
Didnt stay to eat as everything was so grubby. Was at outside, by the busy road so might excuse a bit more dust but the table and menus were filthy and didnt inspire confidence. The menu also looked uninteresting so left before ordering.
Me and my friends went to minnow on Saturday and it was fantastic from start to end. Top-notch service, all the staff were so friendly and attentive.good value for money and excellent cocktails. Will definitely come again
Good little restaurant with a small menu (which isnt a bad thing). Had the miso pork belly & ham croquettes for starters. Pork was good, but a little bland, croquettes good. Main was sea bass and gnocchi. The sea bass had been out for a while and had started drying out, the gnocchi good, but again a little bland. They did skimp on the parmesan. Dessert was icecream (cant go wrong with thatand a very good lemon meringue. Marked down because I expected a bit more at the price.
Nice atmosphere and very attentive service. The food was good.
Slow service, expensive for what you get and small portions. On most recent visit mine and my wife’s fish was not cooked properly and they forgot the chicken in a chicken salad. Very disappointing visit, especially as had someone from overseas with us. 2 stars because they offered a drink to make up.
I’ve wanted to eat at Minnow for a while and it did not disappoint! We came for a quick early dinner which our lovely waitress went out her way to accommodate (we were on a time limit). Food was super fresh and absolutely delicious - the pan fried squid was so good! We were all really happy with our food and the service was great.100% go if you can, I’ll be back for brunch!
Really disappointing food, although great location, nice drinks and really good service. We both had a chicken roast and it’s definitely one of the worst we’ve had, everything was overcooked, the potatoes and parsnips were hard and the gravy was just super thick bisto. Nothing was cooked well unfortunately. Would not recommend for a roast. Would go here for drinks again though as we both had a really tasty juice and the service was lovely.
Nice spot in Clapham Old Town with great atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff. Like the outside area they have created with comfy chairs and heaters.Only 3* as we went for cocktails which were very average (not very cold, stingy serving).
I had a fabulous experience at Minnow. I organised a party there for my sister. They could not have been more accommodating, the service was excellent and the food delicious! I highly recommend going!
I had a wonderful meal here with my boyfriend for a celebratory meal. The staff were wonderful and the food was delightful. The interior is really chic and romantic and I would totally recommend.
Had a wonderful experience here recently with my partner. Food was excellent and we had some great recommendations from our server, Luke. The manager was efficient and friendly with our booking too! Would highly recommend coming here - the lamb was to die for!
Love this brunch spot! And especially in the sun! Food is always delicious every time I visit and the staff are always smiling so friendly and accommodating. I brought my family here, and they shared the same love for minnow as me! So glad I live nearby so I have the privilege of dining here regularly! Yum yum yum
Came for sunny Sunday sat on the buzzing tables outside was such a great atmosphere. Smiles all round had amazing service and really loved the cool decor inside - fun movie posters! Tasty cocktails and super yummy pink melt in the mouth beef with crispy Yorkshire pudding - Cor blimey. The byob option is an inspired idea will go for it another time for sure.
We went for brunch and had avocado toasts and a Bloody Marry. The food itself was not amazing but okay, although some of the poached eggs were overcooked and bread was slightly burned, also all looking very sad on my half empty plate. How does a toast take 40 minutes? The cocktail was tasty though. The place was super busy and you get a tiny table and there is very little space to move. Felt expensive even for Clapham to pay £26pp for the toast and a cocktail.
Nice place but a bit disappointed about the food. The food looks nice but doesn’t taste good. The eggs were overcooked and the sauce not enough.
Hana has been lovely. So helpful and friendly. I would recommend all staff here for a lovely drink session. No venue has been as welcoming and iconic as this place. Thank you everyone. Also wonderful ginger manager! ( sorry forgot the name )and lovely lady cleaning the toilets ( the place is also very clean !!!I will be back. ! Hana for manager! Also Beatrice has been amazing. Every member of staff is amazing and will do their best to enhance your trip. Please be kind and and support your businesses. 10/10 would recommend. Chloe is also lovely. Every one here is wonderful. Be kind and support your local venue. Xxx
I will talk about this moment for years as "the perfect brunch". The zesty avocado with a squeeze of lime. The cold beans (I know but it works, its not Heinz, its kind of got its own thing going on, look shut up it just works ok), the side of halloumi. Wouldnt change a single thing. Props to the cheerful tall ginger fella, his enthusiasm towards life itself was contagious.
Service was ok, however the food is not good at all. Bacon too saulty and soft, burn bread and all the dishes were cold.I have asked for the bread to be changed as I couldnt eat it, and they changed it.I wouldnt recommend it.
What a fantastic place to eat and have fun. The staff were so welcoming and attentive. The food was AMAZING! Really enjoyed our evening at Minnow - Thank you xx
Cute on the outside but the decor was a bit weird and dingy on the inside. Decent food and great service overall, but I’d skip the drinks here if I went again. The truffle chips, pesto gnocchi and chocolate brûlée were highlights of our meal.
A nice brunch place, it was nice weather so we sat outside. Really nicely cooked poached eggs with super yellow yolks (so good quality eggs). Standard brunch fair, eggs in lots of way and a classy full English. I would book as it gets super busy.
Atmosphere is nice, staff was very nice a superb friendly, even it was busy but they managed to give us a table without booking. Food was good. We had french toast and poached egg on toast, both were a good choice.
Great breakfast menu and very smooth coffee! Not a very large breakfast menu but there is something for everyone! I would consider it pricey for the size you get. But a great experience with lovely decor!
Good meal overall. Courgette frites not worth ordering as too greasy and wet. Truffle chips were delish 👌 everything else yummy.Edit: excellent service from James 5*, heard my complaint and gave us some extra special treatment. 100% recommend this date night spot.
Worst roast I’ve ever had . I cannot begin to explain how disappointed I am to have paid £19 for the most disgusting sirloin of beef in the world. It was extremely tough, chewy , dry and cold. After eating only half of one piece , my jaw was actually aching . My friend ordered this too and also thought that it was absolutely disgusting. Even in the photo , it doesn’t look appetising whatsoever. The potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were the only things that were half decent , however , we only got four individual pieces of potatoes. Imagine paying £19 for the most horrendous beef and for only four pieces of potatoes!! The gravy was also disgusting , it was extremely watery and lacking flavour , we all thought it tasted like salty water. The parsnips also weren’t nice , they tasted severely under cooked . If I could give this place zero stars , I would’ve. After my meal I was fuming at how horrible it was especially for how pricey it is , I complained only to get a half arsed response in return. Never coming back and I do not recommend anyone to ever come here. Anyone who says that Minnow has the best roasts in London are clearly lying or they don’t have any taste.
Enjoyed a lovely brunch at this gem in Clapham. I felt as though I was transported to Paris. Delicious food and friendly service in a gorgeous atmosphere. We ordered a selection from the menu and the French toast was sublime! We will be back!
Lovely restaurant with outdoor seating that reminds me of Paris. The cafe is located bang opposite Clapham Common and it’s almost tempting to combine the two.The menu is limited but the food is delicious! The best parts for me were the Red pepper croquettes and the chocolate créeme brûlée.
Enjoyed a warm Saturday morning brekkie. The food was good quality, service really speedy and sufficiently spaced out seating so that you felt safe in the current environment. The bread was amazing and would have happily eaten a plate of just that.Would have received a perfect score but we were asked to leave on the hour as they needed our table (the reservation clearly said we would have the table for an hour and a halfand more so because we were a party that made a reservation and the table next to us was occupied by two walk ins who wanted a coffee and they weren’t asked to finish up their drinks while we were.
"A lot of style - not so much substance".Visited for breakfast here on 02.11.2020 at 0930. x2 breakfasts (The Veg Minnow & Full Minnow& x2 coffees (Tumeric Latte & a Cappuccinocame to £35. The only memorable things about the experience was how the coffees werent that hot & how much the breakfast cost in relation to its quality. By 1230, we were both hungry again as the portions arent that big. That being said, the place is beautiful, filled with colour and the staff were polite & attentive. The lunch menu also looks appealing so would consider returning for lunch, but based on this experience - would give breakfast a miss.
It’s interesting that the review directly below mine points to the same issue: service. The staff need training on what being friendly and welcoming look like. While the food is spot on, I won’t be returning due to the poor customer service. (Yesterday I popped by for breakfast on my birthday and couldn’t have been made to feel more hurried along).
This place is great if you want to bring your brunch game up a level. My partner and I came last year for our anniversary. Treated myself to a champagne brunch for my birthday and the French toast was a dream. The staff are all really lovely and the flowers decorating the inside and out create a cosy atmosphere. The food may be slightly pricier than your standard brunch fare but it is definitely worth it.
Such a lovely afternoon in this little gem in Clapham Common! I was very glad to find vegan options on menu and chargrilled broccoli was amazing! My main superfood couscous was lovely too. Good experience overall ❤️
Really good food and wonderful service. Showed up on a Friday at 9 with no reservation and they sat us at the bar for 2 min before a table opened. Definitely a good meal and great drinks/wine options
Lovely restaurant for breakfast and Sunday roasts. Portions are generous and the place is always buzzing. Have a try sitting downstairs at the kitchen so you can watch the chefs work their magic.
