Ming Court Hong Kong Dim Sum 明阁香港点心 - Dim sum restaurant in Ipoh, Malaysia
Crowded during holiday. Food taste nice and the price is reasonable. However, we only queue up for about 20min then can get a seat.
Service is bad, they put all the dimsum plates on the table for us to choose the moment we came near the table and we hadnt had a chance to sit down. They were even blocking me from sitting down, that was such a bad start for the morning. If they do this to tourists, as a local, I would be so ashamed to recommend it. Food wise, its just meh... there are definitely better Dimsum places in Ipoh.
The dim sum are fresh and tastes good! It is traditional dim sum taste. Some people may like it but some may not.Personally I like it except the “Cha Siew Pao”.Once you arrived to the restaurant please remember to get your queue number from the staffs. You have to wait for 30mins-1hrs depending on the crowds especially during the weekend. It is very difficult to get park your car there and recommended you to park your car in the private parking lot which cost RM5.
Reach there around 9am, wait 20 min get our table already. Dim Sum here is very nice, the teste is different with the common dim sum shop. Recommended black sesame soup, char siew bao, mochi, fried fuchuk etc..
Old School Dim Sum, where the ladies come your table with trays of dim sim. I liked the Peanut Mochi (my favouriteand the Prawn Mayonnaise... so crispy. Quite reasonably priced too
This place is always packed. Reached around 8 am thought I would get a table however there were quite a crowd. Got my table about 30 minutes of waiting. They now have ticketing service which made things easier and no eyes looking at you while you are enjoying your food. So once you arrived at the restaurant, get a number from the waitress on duty. As for the food, it has less variety but I like the small portion. I love the fish balls most. The waitress are very attentive and they even remember to get my order delivered to me. A must go for me when I travel north.
Very busy Ipoh Dim Sum place during the morning hours. They sell small and dainty basic dim sum items either steam or deep fried. The deep-fried chives rolls and Yong tofu are nice. Others food are really depending of personal preference. Ever since Covid19, their seating arrangement is quite organized. Closed every Thursday and first week of Chinese New Year.
Ok, this restaurant please go at 6am, if you go there lunch time, everything dont have, very sad. A famous dim sum restaurant yet did not do more. Taste of the dim sum is very local, so dont compare with Hong Kong.
The dimsum is fresh and in bite size.Good place to try and recommend arrive in early morning 7-8am.
After few years, still our "must eat" at Ipoh. friendly staff to ask us take queue numbers and wait outside. dim sum looks so so yet they all so yummy!! for us is the best compared Singapore, JB, and PJ. must visit twice for next visit.
Usual spot for dim sum in Ipoh. You will have to queue and take the number and wait patiently. Parking is fairly limited. My favourites are their Har Gow and Shrimp Rice Noodle Rolls or Ha Cheung.Just yummy! 😋
Disappointing dim sum for such an established restaurant. We visited Ming Court after over a decade and found the dim sum to be mediocre at best. Ming Court has always been known for its smaller portion size but the quality of ingredients used was sadly inferior to what you would expect from a famous dim sum shop. We found the fried items to be somewhat better than the steam items with the exception of the Har Gow (prawn dumplingwhich was decent. You may have to wait for tables at peak hours (8am onwardsand it may be worth a visit if you’re looking for nostalgia as the shop hasn’t changed in decades, but if you’re looking for good quality dim sum this place is not worth the wait.
Arrived here on 7am on Saturday, managed to get a table by sharing it with others. For some reasons steam dim sum never arrive our table till we were about to leave; Only deep fried items and steam bun always stop by. The price is on the high side with the portion they served. Quality wise its on price point.
Come early for easy parking and more varieties of DimSum. Very fast service and the staff are very friendly, they explain well. They have the best sesame drink, its a must try. All the ingredients were fresh, no fishy smell, price affordable.
Taste was just average nothing special at all. I hope all their workers should wear gloves when serving the food.
Fu Shan is closed on Monday, so we headed to the opposite Ming Court for authentic Hong Kong Dim Sum. It is full even at early 7 oclock. But it was a short wait and we joined table with another two Korean tourist. There is table service. The customer just need to wait at the table for them to bring some hot and delicious dim sums to show you. Their service was fast and friendly, some staffs can even communicate in English with the Korean tourists which shows really great hospitality.Their dim sum is really small compared to others, but the quality is good and not very oily. You will find many reviewers comment on the smaller size, but it indeed a good point where you will be able to enjoy many kind of dim sum that available. We are totally agreed with that as it was enjoyable, and you wont feel too heavy after ate plenty.Price is average, where per head cost about RM20-25. Parking in the early morning was difficult as the main road was full. But you can always drive to the next road behind the restaurant and find some parking spaces there. There are also some private parking available in the surrounding area. They got a very nice and friendly boss at the cashier counter to serve the customer. We will definitely come back again to Ipoh because of their hospitality.Just a small advice, please come before 8am, there was really a long long que even on Monday morning.
definitely always need to queue, but if you come early as i did (7.30am), the queue was not so long. waited less than 20 mins only. wide range of dimsum starting from fried, steamed, bao, tongshui, etc. all dimsum was averagely good and doesnt really feel that its the mass-produced in the factory. big tables are available for big groups.must try siewmai, hakao and fried prawn wrapped with crispy skin
Always on the go when we are heading south to Kl, we arrived at the very first batch 630am while there wont be crowded at this hour. However not much variety ready yet.Black sesame dessert is a must, so smooth and creamy. Lo maigai is good too. The rest are just OK normal in taste but size is small compare to other dimsum place.Service for tea is fast and just that waiting for the dimsum to come is slow sometimes.
Still keep up its standard after many years. Like the muachi麻芝, fried yam 芋角, 咸水角& etc. 2 others nearby dim sum restaurant are getting worst nowday.
The dimsums are really great, but theyre so tiny! "Yu mai" (hand-tossed fish ballare my favorite! The queue can be quite long if you come in a big group. However, if you come in as a couple and willing to share tables, things get pretty convenient. The waitress will just lead you to any tables with customers willing to share half a table for you.
Some sort like old school hongkong type Dim Sum. Just nice, taste good. To avoid quee please be early.
Traditional style Dim Sum restaurant 🥰Their special Fried “Ham Sui Kok” 👍🏼
Nothing great. Went at 8am on a Monday. Shared table with another couple. Loh Mai Kai or Steamed Glutinous Chicken Rice was dry and hard. The pork bun or sang yuk pau has ginger in it, applied the taste of the bun. Chee Chong Fun or Rice Roll with Char Siew was so so.Are people eating for nostalgia or for experiential eating, a must eat food even though its average?Crowded and not advisable under current Covid endemic.
I was pretty disappointed with their dim sums. The queue to get a table was so not worth it. Siew mai was rubbery and too little filling that I could only taste the flour. Fried items were alright. Lou Mai Kai were comparable to coffeeshop standard only and porridge were watery and under seasoned. Chee Cheong Fun was the worst - texture was the worse Ive tasted. All in all is was over hyped and Ive tasted much better dim sums in Ipoh. Pretty lousy for Ipoh standards. Service was good.
Good dim sum with reasonable price. Full of traditional taste. Crowded as always, recommend come early to avoid long queue. Always visit here when come to Ipoh. 👍
Dim sum price is responsible, but some others dim sum restaurant is better. Anyway the desert and the fried din sum is not bad. Remember order the 糖水,it is good. Waiting at the q about 30 minutes. But is Ok. Nice food is worth it to wait.
The portion is a bit small with the price is OK. The fishball is nice and also the malai kuih.
Quite an Old Style Concept Outlet, famous by its name. Dishes are small size, good to try out. crowded but super fast services.
Childhood memory here, good try on their black sesame soup and mochi as rarely find them in other dim sum restaurants. Other food are so so, you may come just for memories. Prices are cheaper than others, however align with the portions. I rate their service better than average.
Ming Court serves one of the best dim sum in town. However, their chee cheong fun is quite bland today. I guess they have overly diluted the sauce today.
Dimsum size very small compare to KL but very cheap. Rm50 for 2 pax...
Despite is Monday but still full with people and long queue. Dim sum was above normal. Alot of choice and staff was ok too. Spacious.
Its true that not everything here is nice to eat. But I love their char siew bun and lor mai gai. One of the best Ive tasted anywhere. So do order when you are here. The rest of the items are ok for a dim sum place. Oh yes, the dessert is also very rich and creamy.
Need to queue as always, foods are delicious and plenty of choice, the only bad thing is waitress might slightly force you to take their dinsum event your table is already full enough.
Crowded in the sunday morning when i was there around 9:30am. 1st you will r3quire to take number from a staff at the entrance and that staff will be calling you when there is table available. Waiting time will be like 10 minutes before they call you.Dim sum portion is consider small or i would say cute. It will be like 60% of the nirmal dim sum i eat in kuala lumpur. You can just put the whole piece of siu mai into you mouth without any issue, but taste is above average. Food made fresh. Staff will send the dish to you table for selection so just pick what you want.Staff are friendly. Lastly price consider average not very high and not low either. Acceptable for me with family coming ipoh for short holiday.
This Dim Sum restaurant is one of the must try in Ipoh townOrderedGlutinous rice with chicken/Chinese sausageChar siew bunPrawn rice rollFried spring rollEgg tartFish ball and fish cakePork ribs and chicken feetPrawn and Pork dumplingPorridgeOverall experience: they have maintained the standard after so many years. Thumbs up! 👍
Have been in town easily 60 years or more.Used to eat in 80s.Dim Sum authentic, especially the sweat deserts.Have not been here easily 2 decades.Taste still same.
Hands down the best dim sum spot in Ipoh!Always able to maintain the consistency of the taste and portion.
So far the best dimsum. All served hot, fresh and scrumptious. My grandfather loves the Lo Mai Kai (glutinous rice chickenand ma Lai gou (malay cake), chiefly, he said that the texture is nostalgic, bring him back in time. Gone are the old days, but taste remains.Despite of the long queue, they are quite aware in SOP measures, checking of Mysejatera and the staffs are nice in serving.
I’d suggest to come here around 7.30-8am for better variety. Workers here are very friendly, had to come early to queue up. This place very hard to find parking as there’s many Dim Sum place within 100m radius from this shop. But the price is very worth it for the taste you get here and the hospitality. The food comes to you in trays according to the type of dish, so you don’t need to worry about not knowing what to get as you can see and pick the food for yourself. It’s about RM20 per person for a good tummy full breakfast if you’re a mediocre eater.
Reaching here about 7am is a good time. There are some crowds inside the restaurants but there are still some tables. We notice long queue by 8am even during weekdays. There is no menu on the table. Everything was written at the cashier counter. But there are lots of staffs walking around and keep bringing tray of steaming hot dim sums for you to pick. Most of the dim sums are in small size and dont have nice plating.Anti-clockwise:Egg tart - Custard is so-so, not as fragrant but texture is creamy. Tart skinis a let down as most bakery shops nearby are way much better.Fried beancurd - the skin is crispy and has really good fragrant. But need to finish it quick or the skin started to get greasy after awhile.Siew mai: - Taste bland and has the most tiny portion.Loh mai gai - probably the best I had in any dim sum places so far. Theres some special fragrant taste in the rice.Pan-fried carrot cake - There is some special fragrant in the cake and its quite soft. Just the portion a little too small.Chee cheong fun - The chee cheong fun is really smooth and has chewy prawns in it. Eating with the fried shallots really improve its taste.Chicken feet - Has really good taste but the skin is over done so its too soft.Ham sui kok - Can skip this. The skin is cruncy but a little oily. And the filling is so little. Taste is okay.Overall, the taste may not be as great but there are are quite some special dim sums that I liked and couldnt find elsewhere. Namely fried beancurd, loh mai gai, pan fried carrot cake and fried beancurd. For its small portions, I ended up feeling really stuffy and uncomfortable (feel like throwing upafter eating. Have to stay in toilet for awhile for my stomach to feel better.Next time I would probably try out other new dim sums places nearby.
Small bites in the morning, a very busy attraction, chances of a long que is high as locals and tourists favours this place. The selection is very basic and covers most dim sum dishes. A rather chaotic scene typical of a dim sum restaurant.
Best black sesame desert in town.Dim sum was nice and flavourful. You can try their sweet sauce and chili sauce if you want to (optional, as the dim sum were goo on its own)
Ming Court Hong Kong Dim Sum is one of the many competitors dim sum stall located at Ipoh tourist eatery area. Overall the food is average & small serving size but the price is at high side. Usually in the morning it is always crowded but they have number system for queue. Food will comes in tray.
Do expect to Q for 15-20mins for table during weekend! This is one of Ipoh’s most liked dim sum restaurant. Very busy restaurant with mini sized handmade dimsum.Taste is really fresh and authentic too. Portion is very small, one person can finish a good 8-10plates of dimsum easily. So please eat with caution of burning your wallet. Haha, but it was a really good experience tho. Altho its environment is not as modern and established as their competitor at the opposite, the taste definitely compensated that. Its nice overall, i’d recommend! Eat like a local instead of eating like a tourist aite! Staff are mostly people with elder age but they are friendly and helpful too!
Came here due to a lot of reviews and it is one of the popular dim sum shop in Ipoh. Food serve in small bite size which allows you to have the stomach space to taste other variety of dim sum. You have to come early else the queue will be long. Taste was normal, nothing fantastic just average taste. Dim sum was steam in steel container instead of the normal traditional bamboo container. Dim sum arrived was not hot just slightly warm. Also you are forced to order drinks as they do not allowed you to just come for the food.
The Strike of The Dim Sum CravingWe woke up pretty early and decided to head out to satisfy our Dim Sum Craving. Some say that no trip to Ipoh is complete without a Dim Sum Meal and we finally understand why.Our breakfast location requires no introduction. Min Court has been long famed in Ipoh for its delicious Dim Sum and true enough, we weren’t disappointed. Given the time of day, we were ushered to an available table in no time and satisfying our rumbly tummies. Instead of reviewing their delicious treats, we’ll let our photos do the talkingOur full review is on Instagram (@monk3yseendo)
Not much variety if you come late. Still have wait for almost an hour. The dim sum potion is small and the taste is really not all that good. The black sesame dessert is ok. Service need improvement, the people are busy running around but it feels like all the tables are waiting to order or be served.
Delicious and many varieties of dim sum. However, the restaurant is always crowded and most of the time have to queue for table and easier to get seats if you dont mind sharing table. Portion are small but lots of varieties. Its good that they allow you to order buns by number and not by plate so you can taste different filing buns. Their dessert, peanut and black sesame paste is good with smooth texture and not too sweet.
Super fast service here! Once we were seated, the servers started swarming us with dim sum options. Food was generally of good quality, and service seemed friendly enough for a dim sum restaurant. Theyre usually a wait so better come early.
