Miners Heritage Walk In Mine Tour - Tourist attraction in Emerald, Australia
Great experience! Really well prepared for everyone to experience what gem hunting is all about. Highly recommended.
What a great morning! Very interesting 40min tour of the mines, then a very hot hour fossicking. There was plenty of help and at the end, the ladies sorted out the pretty rocks from the sapphires and zircons. We were surprised what we got from two buckets of wash!
Very professional set up, great staff, great shopping for gems and souvenirs, buckets of wash available to find your own saphires
So informative great tour and definitely great for kids and fossicking
Great tour. Very informative and beautiful gift shop, worth visiting.
What a great tour and activity to break up the trip from the desert to the sea. Informative guides take you well beneath the surface in tunnels to explore the previous working mine. The bats were the stars of the show and you must do the bucket to fossic through looking for a star sapphire.
Very interesting and informative on what to look for when sapphire fossicking. Theres approximately 50 steps down to the mine shafts so not too hard.
Very interesting mine tour and museum. Seeing the Bent Wing Bats was great. They do sieving wash for sapphires here.
Amazing place well worth going very informative. They did it tough in those days
Really lovely experience. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Enjoyed the tour, and found lots of sapphire pieces in the bucket. Cafe was closed, Monday lunchtime,
Great walking tour of the mines, very friendly staff and guides. Walk ins available but better to call so you dont have to wait for the next batch. The place has a jewelry store, and a fossicking area where you can buy a bag of dirt and try your luck with finding sapphires. You can have them verified by the staff as well.
Tour was great. So interesting and the tour guide was so very informative.Need to book of in holiday period and gets very busy.Cost was $25 an adult and $15 kids (I think)Nice little cafe on site as well and kids could by buckets of wash for $25Plenty of parking for Motorhome and caravans
We were very excited to do this tour today. My mother called ahead to check about booking and spoke with Mark saying the next tour was at 1.15pm she then inquired on the price and described our group dynamics. He then explained the prices and lead her to believe we arrive and pay at 1.15pm. We then waited till 1.15pm (2hrs wait time). Arrived early, went to the coffee shop on site next door and had a lovely and well catered for experience. We then proceeded to head next door to pay for our tour. We were immediately greeted with an abrupt and quite frankly a rude conversation with Mark when we wanted to pay saying “what’s your name”, and that well he only had this person, that person and someone else and if that’s not you then you didn’t book. My mother then proceed to explain the conversation on the phone and he stopped her mid sentence saying “he always asks for the persons name when he takes a booking on the phone and that he would have asked for her name ”. My mother then said well i don’t recall you asking for mine and that he had lead her to believe over the phone that she would have a tour at 1.15pm and had explained the price etc. He then said well the next tour is at 2.15pm. This was not great for us as we had a 4 and 5 year old who didn’t have any more patience by this stage. We then said we would pass as we did not won’t to wait that long. I then over heard a lady ask him if she was on this tour which was departing at 1.15pm and his response was “well i don’t know, are you together with this guy?” She responded she was and her was like “well yes” It seemed to be that his pleasantries were definitely lacking and his hospitality was zero. It was a complete turn off and a massive disappointment to turn up to what was going to be an exciting day with being treated with arrogance and complete disrespect. Would I recommend the place no, would I ever return no. Not only was it disgusting to hear someone talking to my mother like this which was obviously just a miscommunication along the way but the display of unkindness and rudeness to treat other people in front of my young children is a disgrace. I hope his attitude improves. Miners Heritage needs a lesson in hospitality and wholesome values that belong to a beautiful and friendly country town like this one.
Underground mine tour. Tour guide was great and gave a vast insight to gem mining and the history of the area. Fossicing after the tour was really good also. All staff were friendly and accomodating.
Very good tour. So cool going down into the mine and listing to the history of it.
Love this place ,first time in my life walking underground so much excited and get good experience
The underground tour was awesome, we went many years ago and still I learnt plenty and loved the tour. The guide asked the group a couple times where we thought we were. Geez I was way off🤣
Interesting piece of history to see. Going 17m underground and learning the layers of soil and how people mined for stones. Guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Worth the visit to the place if you are passing through. Tour was $20
Interesting underground mine tour. Not too far off the highway. We bought tickets when we arrived however in busier times it may be best to pre-book. Tours operate hourly at quarter past the hour.Staff went out of their way to offer information about the area and were very friendly.Coffee shop on site as well ☕.
Fantastic tour with all you’d expect of it. Our guide was local, a great storyteller with plenty up her sleeve, interesting explanations about all of it and good with kids too — not mine, I’m just a traveler, but there were families with young kids that didn’t have too much patience nor interest.
We had a tour with Matt, thats Matt with double T, we loved our tour, Matt is really informative, passionate and knowledgeable. He really had us involved, loved it and would recommend going to anyone.
Tour guide has a lot if knowledge she had to get out quickly, no pausing for questions and kinda like being lectured. Knowledge high, but entertainment value low. Overall mine was interesting.
Not sure about the bad reviews on customer service, maybe this place is under new management (?as the staff here were fantastic. Our tour guide was great and he had a clear interest in his job.The young lady who help us with fossicking through our bucket was also great.Definitely worth a visit to the gemfields, my 3 year old loved it and is still talking about the colony of micro bats living in the caves.
Loved it. Very informative. OMG the old miners did it hard. Our guide was very knowledgeable. Recommend the time to go if you can.
Such an incredible one in a lifetime tour! Lisa was absolutely incredible. I honestly could listen to her for hours more. Very knowledgeable and humorous! An absolute must visit if you’re in the area! I absolutely loved the micro bats also!
Such an interesting place. The tour was fantastic, very informative. Enjoyed every minute of it. Would highly recommend to go and see it:)
Great experience loved finding sapphires. Excellent service and informative guide.
Was grrat to walkin in undergriund and see what a mine was like as a tourist. I wouldnt have wanted to be the tummy crawling miners working in the pitch black though. Great experience fir the kids and they had a fun photo opotunity in there also. Thanks for an informative and intersting tour.
Fascinating place. The tour in the underground mine was interesting and well worth the money. The cafe was also great. Friendly staff.
Lisa was amazing with her knowledge and funny stories. The mine with its many holes was very interesting and surprisingly enough very cool. Loved the microbats . I normally cant go into places like that but it was comfortable. Thank you for sharing.P.s. Next time when the movie is on wine n crackers would be nice...Lisa 🤣🤣😇
Fun and informative 45 minute tour! Our guide was great to listen to and provided some pretty cool facts and information. The micro bats were adorable! Feels a little cramped when they try to fit 17 people into a group, but awesome regardless.Check out more at:@ultimateaussiebucketlist (insta, FB, web)
The staff are very friendly and the underground tour was awesome a must if you come here. You can pan your own buckets or use the bag for 35 and has a sapphire in it already
Great learning experience about underground mining and fossicking. Jewellery store, Cafe and fossicking on site.
Staff are friendly and helpful. The tour of the mine is easy with only a few sets of stairs. A lot of jewelry in their store. The Caffe when we were there only had one staff member, so patients is needed if you need your Carine fix, she did make an awesome iced coffee.
This was an amazing tour and I highly recommend it. Lisa was very knowledgeable, friendly and funny. It was a really good insight into what sapphire mines really look like. Loved seeing the bent wing bats up close. Theres a fossicking park there too so you can have a go at finding sapphires
What a fantastic afternoon! Lisa 1 was an amazing tour guide - we learnt so much about gemstone mining and even met some micro bent wing bats up close. The tour was informative and fun and we got to go through the mine and see it first hand. Matt then taught us how to fossik - we had so much fun and came away with a huge haul of sapphires and zircon (even found a star sapphire!Would highly recommend and we will definitely be back again! Such a great day out - thank you!
Our guide was very knowledgeable and funny and made the tour so awesome! Thankyou for providing these amazing experiences!
Fantastic detailed tour with plenty of room in tunnels. Able to see gems in rock walls and see original tools etc. Able to fossick later or buy jewels. Worth the visit. Good value
Was a great experience seeing how the blood, sweat, tears goes into the process of finding a gem. Wouldnt hesitate going back.Very clean, staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome.Ensure you check out the Jewellery Store something for everyone
This was awesome! Underground tunnels. Explained well. Very interesting. Found some colour in the bucket of wash we bought after.
Lisa our tour person is very nice and knowledgeable. Had fun fossicking from the bag of wash
Such a cool place. Very good tour. Friendly informative staff and very helpful in fossicking. Would definitely recommend this tour.
Loved the well informed tour. A Very informative tour. It was an easy stroll through the original mine. And great displays along the way. The history room has some wonderful photos of mining era. The gift shop has a huge variety of jewellery and other items on display for sale. We had a very nice cuppa coffee after the tour.
The largest walk in mine around.Good service, good guided tour.Cool micro bats nesting in the mine
This is a great informative walk. Guide really knows her stuff. The walk is clean tidy and safe. Special treat is the little micro bats, lovely.Keep it up people!! Wonderful work. Fantastic. I will certainly be telling people to do it.
Had a lovely time here! The tour was interesting and trod the line of educational and fun very well. The gift shop was beautiful and panning for gemstones was a highlight! The staff at the gem shop even examined our finds after and were able to tell us if they were gems or just rocks!
Jen our tour guide was friendly, informative and passionate about sapphires, mining and the history of the area. The kids enjoyed the tour and got the added bonus if seeing a micro bat family in the mine. We all got a little bit of sapphire to keep as a momento.
I really enjoyed my visit to miners heritage the staff were so friendly really made our visit awesome. Panning for gemstones was fun. There was a group of us all having fun and a really great time. Cant wait to go back next year when I visit my daughter in emerald again. Also on my coach trip back to Brisbane I met some one from Ruby Vale and we talked and said I would catch up with her next year when I come back for my next holiday. Once again meet some truly wonderful people in emerald rubyvale and Springsure.
Really enjoyed the tour, passionate tour guide! Nice shop and cafe also. Microbats in the cave are so cute. Youre able to fossic and have a Look around as well
Very interesting tour. We walked through the mine and the lovely tour guide showed us how and where sapphires are found, how the miners used to dig small "tummy tunnels" and lots of other interesting facts. Loved the tour!
