Milton Street Public House in Nanaimo

AMAZING...KALE SALAD WAS TO DIE FOR.

So pleasantly surprised. Not much was open on Monday, unfortunately, and when I pulled up to Milton, I was confused that it was a residential home.Once we walked in, we were welcomed and greeted by the server/host who was attentive and friendly.We had the fish and chips and it was so well fried and crispy and couldn’t stop eating the fries. The salad was also fresh and had a nice serving of fresh cheese.I’d come here for a relaxing atmosphere with solid food.

Farm fresh, deliciously planned and presented. Mouthwatering explosion! I had the special which came with a salad with a sweet dressing, sautéed figs fresh greens and tomatoes. The pork and fig wrap had the same explosions of flavour in every bite. Highly recommend.

Awesome little spot. Food outstanding and service by Kimberley was top class.

Food was decent. Having to order ourselves was unexpected. And patio has rats. Totally ruined our dinner.

Its an establishment built with character. Keep in mind it has a small footprint so when its full, its very crowded and loud. There is a tiny patio in the back.The waitresses are hands down fun, knowledgeable and respectful.The food has beautiful presentation.

Can’t say enough about this restaurant. The staff is fast, friendly, accommodating and the food is amazing. Their on tap Italian Pinot can’t be found anywhere else. Thank you for a beautiful dinner!

Amazing food, great location and a unique atmosphere.

This staffing shortage is really hurting our hospitality industry. I really would have liked to give Milton Street five stars, because I liked the food and the prices were reasonable, but the server was so harried and distracted that our experience suffered greatly as a result.We could have easily become regulars, but well probably let them get staffed up before we return again.

Very neat small establishment with great food. I went here out of the blue and will definitely be having to go back.

The server recommended I sit at the bar as I was alone. I’m glad she did, as the locals were friendly, engaging and knowledgeable about Marbled Murrelets, which is unheard of! I ordered the burger special. It was topped with sausage this evening and was the best burger I’ve had in Nanaimo! I’ve eaten hundreds of burgers in this city. Guinness in tap also a plus. Kimberly was excellent! Attentive, friendly and a great reader of the room. I will definitely be back. My first full 5 star.

Gem of a place. Great food and friendly staff in a cozy atmosphere. Especially love the chicken club wrap (smoky, creamy and deliciousand their spaghetti and meatballs (always spiced perfectly, fresh and hot). Their fries are out of this world! Havent had a bad meal. Its our go to spot in Nanaimo...no where else comes close!

Very good food. Good atmosphere, love how theyve turned the house into a resturaunt. Not the first place Ive been to like this, Ginas in town is also a refit house, but definitely the best. Great place for a date night meal. Cute cozy and intimate if a little bit loud because some many people seem to love it here.We had the prime rib special and really enjoyed it. Delicious onion gravy with it and very nicely cooked veg.We will be back.

This small town English style pub in set in an historic Nanaimo house. It offers prompt and friendly service in a semi private “living room”, but it’s equipped with a full service bar. Menus are straightforward, with perfectly prepared pub fare. This place is an English style gem, but without the problems of the Royal family or the House of Windsor. Very much enjoyed the food, one of the best burgers Ive had and the fries were perfect.

A little out of the way but so worth it! Had the fish and chips special, perfectly fried, light on the batter, not greasy at all. Service was perfect, always knew when you needed something. The former residence this pub is in has multiple smaller spaces for a cozy vibe. Highly recommended!

The staff are awesome and the food is good, if not slightly limited. One of the reasons we always like going here because the place is a cool old house, with tons of character! If I had a wish list? It would be a better curated craft beer and wine menu.

Really good food in a totally different pub feel. I wish there was a hazy IPA on the menu but I wont let that cloud my 5 stars any.. Get it? Cloud... Hazy IPA..

Most wonderful food I’ve had in some time! A little hidden gem I knew nothing about, and now I’m telling everyone. you honestly just don’t get food like this anywhere on the mid island! The service was amazing also. Well done Milton Street! I’ll be back……..

A gothy vibe vintage house that has been converted into a restaurant. Excellent service and delicious appies. We shared the calamari, red pepper hummus and olive tepenade, and the burratta.

I go here for lunch with business colleagues and clients. I always get great service, and great food. The pub is in an older character home and also has a nice patio out back for those summer days

My girlfriends were visiting me for the day so my sister and I decided to take them to the Milton St. Pub, and let me tell ya it did not disappoint! The food might seem like your average pub food but it was better; everything tasted fresh and amazing! Calamari stole the show! Also HUGE kudos to our server Summer, she made our night! If I could give her 10 stars I would. She was running around like a Super Woman. Attending to every table. Her service was amazing and her recommendations were on point. Can not wait to come back again!

We were a group of four. Ordered the steak sandwich, chicken wings and falafel wrap... all with fries. Let me start by saying all of us agreed this was the best fries ever... really! The falafel wrap was very good... it is very chilli though, for us at least. As far as the steak sandwich, the presentation was great... one of is liked it ok. For me, the meat was cold for whats supposed to be a hot sandwich. That was a big turn off for me as I expect steak to be hot and only like it that way. The server was kind enough to bring a new one and she brought it with another side of fries (so that fries was a very well received bonus). The steak was warm (still not hot thoughso it was ok for me... I thought it was medium rare (they never asked how I like it cooked as I wouldve preferred medium well). Finally, they charged a dollar more for the steak sandwich than whats advertised in the menu. I only realized after we left so didnt inquire. Although the steak sandwich was a disappointment for me, I felt they were very nice trying to fix it and made 30% tip as a thank you and for the extra side of fries. I will definitely come back for the fries... as far as what to order with it, Ill probably ask for the falafel without the chilli, maybe chicken wings or try something else... definitely not the steak sandwich. And I cant think of an explanation as to why I was charged extra for it... although its not much.

A delightful place to relax and enjoy a meal and drinks! The food is delicious and plentiful. The server was friendly and the atmosphere easy going.They do adhere to strict Co-ved guidelines, but do it in a professional manner. We love it!♡

Cute house, kind staff. The food is NOT your typical pub food. Top of the line, excellent food with great beer. Many drinks and very COVID safe. Great protocols in place, staff makes you feel safe and welcome while giving you the food you would expect from a 5-star review.

Great food and a cozy atmosphere. They have plenty of regulars and its easy to see why. The cooking staff successfully accommodate basic pub fare and higher end mains such as the Seared Tuna. The restaurant itself is a converted character home and the dining areas consist of several rooms and alcoves with high ceilings. In the summer they have a lively patio.

Had the calimari there so good probably the best Ive had, on top of that very great service, and great drinks as well. 10/10 will be back ✌️

This was without a doubt one of the best meals I have ever had. The combination of warm potatos, crunch of the poppyseed, and soft silk Tuna was an exquisite example of intentional dish creation. I am happy I splurged, it was absolutely worth it.Thank you, Milton St. Public House for a pleasant gem in the downtown area.

Great little spot. Quaint and easy to hold a conversation since it is not loud at all inside. My sister decided to have the cannelloni and I was undecided. The waiter suggested the burger and stated that I would not be disappointed. Well I wasnt. Probably one of the best burgers I had in a long time.

Delicious! servers were very careful to maintain 2m distancing, and set everything just on the edge of the table for us to pass among ourselves. Will be back to enjoy the patio ASAP!

Amazing service, super kind and friendly host, Brad, whom I hope to see again.The burger was just “perfect”The patty was medium rare, REALLY, the bacon was so delicious and fresh and the mozzarella cheese just completed the combination.

Really delicious food, great friendly service and a fun atmosphere. Heritage house meets English pub meets great food. Best calamari in town. Awesome pasta and burger, lovely cocktail menu. We will be back.

Stopped by on our way to the ferry. It has nice ambience and interior, really enjoyed the fireplace. Servers were kind, though food came out slowly and was just all right, and fairly expensive for the portions and value.Probably better if you will partake in the alcohol selection. Cheers 🍾

Been here a few times, food is always amazing, very impressed with everything Ive had off the menu. Went for dinner for date night last week and had a 3 course meal with drinks , with tip the bill was around 100 bucks! Pretty reasonable Id say. The only downside was that there was only one server on and the place was full, the waitress did a great job all things considered but the service did suffer a little bit because of that. But Ill definitely be going back. Great atmosphere too.

I had the pleasure of attending a small wedding here today and I have to say the food, staff and atmosphere was OUTSTANDING! The kale ceaser salad was delicious and the roast chicken they served was amazing! I will definitely be back next time Im in Nanaimo.

Great spot for food, drinks and ambiance! Not only has every meal Ive tried exceeded my expectations but they always have delicious local beers on tap. Not the cheapest pub in town but well worth it :)

Excellent food and service. Great cocktails. I had the Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken. It was the juiciest chicken served with pasta, that we have ever tasted. The fries are the best. Although it seemed understaffed, the server was friendly and the service was still great. Charming pub.

A busy place but they had one table available and we grabbed it. I had the tuna melt with fries and both were delicious. Nice atmosphere and the prices are about what you would expect. My friend had a wrap and it was rather messy to eat, but tasty. Given how busy they were, the service was very good. Ill be back!

Never knew this place existed until I saw it online. Decided to check it out and it was amazing,very nice. Excellent food and presentation,great service and prices were fair. The fries are like none I have ever tried before. We both had the Club house wrap and the server let us split the order so we had fries and salad. Excellent food flavours and cozy ambiance....lovely dining experience.

Weve been here a number of times and never been disappointed. However the dinner we had last evening was the best yet. We both chose the dinner special, a spaghetti dish with prawns, candied salmon and a lovely sauce. Delicious and reasonably priced. Nice selection of draft beers and wines all reasonably priced as well. Service was great, fiendly and helpful. For the value this has got to be one of the top restaurants/pubs in Nanaimo. Well be back

Not good. The service was excellent but what i wanted was not available. In fact many things on the menu were not available. I ordered the Fish n chips. Smallest fish Ive ever been served. Bland AF! If it wasnt for the tartar sauce i dont know what I would have done. The chips were Costco fries. 19 bucks!!!! First time and last! Unfortunately because the atmosphere was good and the service was too!

Delicious! Word of warning to tartar traditionalists - the tartar is not traditional. It was a mildly flavoured lemon sauce of some sort; I liked it, my husband did not. However, the fish and the fries were great. The atmosphere and service were warm and friendly. Nice courtyard. Definitely worth a visit.

Great neighborhood spot for drinks & food. The dishes are very flavorful and creative. Staff is very friendly and attentive to what you need. Loved our cocktails and the selection of beers on tap. In the warmer months the patio is where you want to be.

My favourite restaurant in town! The food is soooo good. Sesame crusted tuna and the cannelloni are amazing. Taylor has excellent customer service and will gladly recommend dishes if you can’t decide. Make sure to check the daily specials!

Wow a nice surprise. An older house rethought, so different room to socialize. I didnt see a tv so I dont know about sports watching. Has a patio, but with no views. A few beers on tap, a big wine rack though. My food was delicious, and other plates going by looked good.Id definitely put it on your list to check out.P.S. Try the onion rings. Or have a wine on the front porch.

The atmosphere was great - the space is an old home converted into a restaurant. We also thought the servers were friendly and helpful.I had a burger, my wife had fish and chips. My burger was good not great, and my wifes fish was mixed, one piece was great and the other was overcooked. The fries were quite good.They had a big drink menu, which could be a draw all on its own.
