Millers Bakery Since 1947 - Bakery in Cliffside Park, United States
Well organised
As you walk in their doorway has a detector that reads your credit card to pick up your email address without your knowledge. Will never go there again....
Very disappointed, I bought a pecan danish ring at about 3 o’clock in the afternoon, brought it home, had a bite and it was stale. I think there’s a certain time that they should not sell certain types of danish or cakes. It was a waste of $10. Especially since I was looking forward to it because I haven’t had one in years.
Whats with the girls that work in this shop? They change them often but they have the same tude - arrogant yet scared. Has the place been robbed recently? When you ask for your selection, they look at you startled like, dont you see we have things to do? Dont know. The pastries are really good and so far not much affected by supply issues. Otherwise, Id doubt Id go. Lately, a weirdly snooty staff.
I really think it is ridiculous that every morning at 8 am this place is "sold out" of croissants. I called literally every morning the last three days. Perhaps not enough is being made.. How can croissants be sold out already at 8am? I mean it is a bakery... Ive always had this issue with them.
Dessert is an essential food group and a good dessert is hard to find. But millers never disappoints, Ive been getting all my cookies/cakes at millers for years. Not only is everything I’ve had there delicious but the service is also amazing. Lola is truly a gem every time I go in there, she’s super knowledgeable and sweet, makes the process quick and always has a smile on her face. Highly recommend!
Went there 6:54 and they refuse to sell! I rush to make it to there because guests are coming! If you don’t close 7! Why you put 7! It was last time i go there now , many competitors around anyway now.
Walked into Millers completely unaware of what I wanted despite my sweet tooth. However, I was welcomed by Lola’s smile and she explained each dessert to the smallest detail and helped me pick out what was perfect for my preference. Would definitely visit again! She’s won my five stars and has earned a satisfied customer!!
I could make better cake at home. tastes so cheap... definitely made from boxed cake mix
Went to Millers and ordered a gender reveal party cake. I emailed the bakery pictures that I wanted, flavors, and how many people and they made it perfect! I ordered on a Monday for a Saturday am pickup and they had no issues on timing. Cake was delicious! Will definitely use for future occasions!
All I can say AMAZING such an incredible talent thank you so much it was worth everything I spent thank you so much for making my daughter so happy 🥰
I had a recent issue here that was handled very kindly and professionally by the owner to which I greatly appreciate. There was a bit of price confusion, but it was cleared up and the problem was resolved. Regarding the product itself, I am usually very happy with what I get. The deals are generally very fair and I ended up trying some different kinds of cakes that I did not know existed. I would give this place a try for anyone whose a dessert person.
So cute and clearly a neighborhood staple. However, I ordered a pumpkin muffin and a slice of pumpkin loaf and they were almost identical. Could use a little more variety in their recipes. Otherwise can’t wait to try some of their fresh bread and chocolate covered pretzels.
I ordered a whip cream cake. They gave me a chocolate fudge cake. It was very disappointing. When I placed the order I had the girl repeat the order to make sure it was correct. Unfortunately I sent my husband to pickup the cake and he put it in the refrigerator when he got home. I guess I should have double checked before we were ready to serve the cake to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. I wish they would have called if they couldn’t make what I ordered. This cake was too sweet and no one enjoyed their piece of cake. What a waste of money.
Been enjoying great baked goods from Millers for many, many years. Kaiser rolls, rainbow cookies, coffee cakes, fresh bread... never a bad sweet ever. Worth the trip for an old school neighborhood bakery! When Im out of Cliffside I have em ship to me. Enjoy!
Made appointment for taste testing. When I called to tell them Im on my way they put me on hold for long time and said that I never made any appointment. LIARS!
Went there today 6/22 and there were huge fruit flies ALL OVER the cookies. Gross! I walked right out. That’s absolutely disgusting.
I highly recommend millers bakery! It has been a staple in Cliffside park for years. Although I have always bought desserts from here , I have most recently been a fan of their sugar free cookies ! I have recently been diagnosed with gestational diabetes so I have been watching my blood sugar , and as a pregnant women I have been craving sweets ! One day my husband bought home the sugar free cookies from millers as a surprise for me , I nervously ate a few ( had bad luck with sugar free cookies from the grocery store beforeand waited an hour to check my glucose levels . My levels were not only in range but were still surprisingly low after eating ! ( in the 90s). As a diabetic these cookies are like a little special treat that you feel good about . The flour used is derived from a wheat/whole grain , so it doesnt spike sugars , and in the middle there is a little slither of chocolate ( which still doesnt spike my sugars). I can literally eat like 5 at a time and be totally fine ( I recommend tasting 1 first and then checking sugars , just to make sure it wont effect yours). Also when I reached out to millers via Instagram messages to see if they can provide me with what they use in the cookies ( because I was just so shocked that it wasnt spiking my sugarsthey gladly provided me the info! I thought that was nice. So thank you millers for having treats for everyone ! Even us diabetes ::)
Bought a chocolate cake for a birthday party, guests ate it and discovered mold. Absolutely disgusting. Will never return to Miller’s again.
Love love Miller’s.I stopped by one day to grab a small pastry and walked out with a cake, cookies and cupcakes. It’s one of those last remaining mom and pop shops. When I was there I got to talk to the owner who was such a sweetheart. They do a great job!!
Disappointed. Purchased an Easter Bread and some Easter cookies. The bread is stale, tasteless. If I didnt know any better, Id say it was a couple of days old...shameful.And the cookies were strange, frosting tasted artificial...no hints of any seasoning that you would expect in a dessert. Im sorry to share such a review, but its unacceptable to continue to sell such poor quality if youve been in the establishment since 1947. I also have to mention that the young lady who was helping us behind the counter seemed overworked, rude.
I purchased cake for my birthday. I didnt like it. quality of frosting full of colors probably unhealthy and frosting taste like cheap in quality. May be other items are better but certainly cake was not close to cakes that i had from other stores.
Pleasantly surprised! Looked like a dated bakery but took a chance to get last minute baguettes and cookies and glad I did. Was worried cookies would taste artificial and the bread bland but the cookies were good and the bread was nice and crusty. Will definitely come again if in the area.
great old style d-licious bakery, yum!!
Have only bought bread here recently but cakes and cookies look really good. Baguettes are very good, crusty and dense, but a little expensive compared to other local bakeries. White bread is also very good. I make French toast with it as well sandwiches and the kids love it. I have heard their Irish Soda bread is awesome, will try it soon.Noticed they have some diner items now. Stuffed breads, sauces, soup and stuff. I will try soon and update.Service has always been very quick and friendly.Parking can be a little difficult to find depending on time of day. Make sure to pay the meter.
Nice shop.. has lots of yummy things.. sweets and salty.. good quality and reasonable prices..
This place is pretty meh. Its not the worst, the food though is often stale and very annoyingly expensive. Ive been disappointed too many times. God forbid you want a fresh dainish or apple turnover in the morning.
I have to say that I am very very disappointed with the cake that was sold to me today. The butter cream wasn’t spread good and the word friends letter are not even in size and the word is going down. On top of that it tasted really bad that non of my guests ate the piece. It was so embarrassing. It was not worth the $$$ I spent on this cake. Save your money and go buy from dolce de leche on Bergenline.
Excellent custom cake from the Cliffside Park location that I ordered from Calif for my dad in Fort Lee. My 97 year old dad loved it. Was beautifully decorated and was delicious. It was chocolate cake with a chocolate mousse filling, covered with a whipped cream frosting and fresh strawberries. Thank you for the great customer service.
AMAZING BUSINESS! Called at 9:30 am and needed a birthday cake for an employee. The woman who answered the phone told me they were going to make me a fresh cake and it would be delivered by 11:30am. It was delivered earlier than 11:30 and tasted AMAZING. One of the best cakes I have ever had and my grandfather had a bakery in Brooklyn. Great Customer Service and Great Birthday Cakes!!!!!
I bought two Passover cakes (not strictly kosher since they were baked in a non-kosher environmentand both were delicious.
They take care of business as quick as possible. They are very kind and professional. There is a lot of delicious options in the store. Highly recommend for birthday parties or a quick bit. Their deserts are worth the price.
I love this place, I even worked there when I was in H.S , the owners are so pleasant. The bake goods, desserts everything are always fresh and they give the remain stuff at the end of night to the homeless. Always fresh food! Always amazing to eat. Staff is nice but dont let a few bad ones ruin the hard work of the owners.
My wife and 5 yr old son love the cupcakes. I personally like their Napoleon the best as well as the linzer tarts. Oh definitely try their blueberry pound cake! All of their stuff is good
Update ** just saw comment from the profesional "owner" . I ordered a simple 18.50 cake. Will be happy to upload receipt . Not only poor service, but blatant liars .I love to support local businesses but STAY AWAY from this horror show of a bakery. I Preordered a cake on their website, and went to pick up the next day as selected on their site. My card was charged and lo and behold there wasnt a cake ready . The employees are clowns , waited a half hour with NO APOLOGY FROM THEM!! BASIC CUSTOMER SERVICE IS LACKING HERE . It was a small order , but you can be sure my next large ,tiered cake order will go to a more competent bakery.
my husband ordered my birthday cake from here and it was simply amazing! it tasted great! it was so fresh and flavorful! sometimes theres cakes tend to be stale because they are made in advance but this cake was super moist and stayed moist even after cutting it open! got so many compliments on this cake! would for sure order from here again!
i had a sweet 15 and i ordered a replica o a cake i really liked. it was a 2-layered cake. I got to pick my own filling and design and when i got my cake, it looked exaclty like the original cake i showed the girl.
This place gave me many sweet memories. I got many cakes from here. Even custom cakes or regular cakes, just fantastic.I tried cupcakes from this bakery and I shared them with my friends, their reaction was same with me. Just fantastic.
Came twice, a year apart, for a specialty cake. They do an AMAZING job!!!! Also, very important, the cake doesnt just look great it also tastes great!! The only reason why I dont give 5 stars, is the price. They are quite expensive. Last time I met the woman who would make the cake so we were able to find a solution of what she would do in order to bring the price a bit lower, which was super cool, but all in all, be prepared to pay a lot! If they made it a bit more affordable Id be ordering cake more often than once in a blue moon and that would actually be bringing them more money in the long run, but the owner seems to want to get as much as he can per cake. Still, for a special occasion, I highly recommend them.
OMGoodness! They are fabulous. So much talent and creativity. The cake was not only perfect but tasted great as well. Highly recommended !!
Really great pastries, doughnuts and muffins, etc. right out of the oven in the morning and delicious coffee. Unbelievably good. Just dont go buying them past 5 pm. Obviously dont expect the same freshness while still good either way. Really sweet register girls along with the long time staff, patient and courteous. Prices can be a little high compared to Dunkin Donuts two blocks away but as I always say, you get what you pay for. Home made, or doughnuts off of a truck shipped from God knows where at DD. If youre in the mood for an after breakfast snack this is the place and so much more for all occasions. Just dont fall asleep at the wheel after the sugar in the pastries. It has that effect on some people. What I jokingly like to call a "food coma" usually too much of something you ate and passed your carb limit. Overall good to go with Millers. Why 4 stars? After all these years nothing innovative but a custom cake shop has opened next door to the bakery. To complete the package they should have served a very small menu for a home style breakfast, nothing crazy. But, at the same time, I realize bakers arent interested in cracking eggs to make omelettes or bacon etc. Food and pastries are 2 different worlds although closely related in the fact that one comes after the other for those who can handle it in their diet.
oh if only my waist line liked the bavarian almond/pecan ring as much as my mouth~ amazing!!! no other bakery in the area can compare to the cream in this amazing dessert~
While the pastries might be good, the woman in charge is rude and nasty. After travelling for 90 minutes on the turnpike, I arrived at Millers to pick up my reserved order. I asked to use their restroom and I was told to go to a side door. Long story short, I was told they didnt have a restroom for people! My loyalty and continued patronage of Millers is over. Regardless of whether or not they have restrooms, that woman should not be working in public service.
Giving up on them - after years of giving them chancesIve supported this local bakery for years - including with three (expensive!custom cake orders. Only one of them was right. Another was inedible (I was literally throwing out plates and plates of icing left untouched on the plates as people ate the sponge from between them but found the icing terrible - this, after paying hundreds of dollars for the damn cake!). Another was supposed to have a rainbow drawn on it (ala my little ponyfor which I gave them a sketch. In their world a "rainbow" runs from top to bottom, not in an arch - I will never understand that design genius! It was absurd looking. The staff gets ruder and less competent by the day. They blame you if they mess up the order (Girl behind counter" "well why didnt you tell us you wanted it to be chocolate on the outside?" Answer" Cause I said I wanted chocolate frosting! If that doesnt cover it YOU should have asked ME what color the outside should be!" - and so on, a very unpleasant conversation). In fairness if you complain to management, they try to make it right - but I dont want to complain - I want the cakes to be right!By the way, the breads are absolutely mediocre - no better than what you get at a supermarket. Ive long stopped buying the bread there - and now I will finally stop buying anything there. Enough is enough - the "small local bakery" thing is just not worth the price and aggravation.
Rude people!!! Do not order from here I ordered a cake for my sons birthday I can do a better job with cake mix from A&P. The owner is really rude she wouldnt go over the cake details with us and was always busy. These people do not know what they are doing. Even their pastries are horrible. I only went here because they were a bit cheaper but you get what you pay for.
We love their Pecan Bavarian, Weve enjoyed this specialty for 35 years. The staff is always friendly and patient as i haltingly make my additional selections. The selections of bread, cakes, cookies and other wonderful baked goods is tremendous.
Although I lived in the tri-state area all my life, ironically I had never had afternoon tea in NY. I had afternoon/hi-tea in many establishments in Asia, so I expected my experience in NY to be similar. I took the chance to try hi-tea in NY when a friend from out of town came. It was her first time going to tea, so I choose the Russian Tea Room from the reviews I have heard. We made reservations, so we were quickly seated. But reservations were unnecessary as there were about 5 parties of two when we arrived. I expected it to be a bit more crowded since we did go on Columbus Day.After we were seated, the waiter immediately brought us the menu. We had a quick glance and he explained the two different tea sets they had to offer. We opted for the traditional tea set which came with an assortment of sandwiches, scones, and sweets, and of course a choice of tea. I choose the Formosa Oolong tea, which was quickly brought out after we had placed our order. The teacup was quite different from the traditional ones Ive seen. It was a drinking glass places in a metal type of holder. The waiter poured the tea and explained to us that it was Russian tradition to put preserved raspberries in our tea for sweetener. I usually dont take anything with my tea, but decided to give the tradition a try. The tea had a bit of a tart taste with the added raspberries, which was what I expected. It was good to give it a try, but I definitely prefer my tea as is. Our tea set was brought out to us in two rounds. First, the sandwiches were brought with caviar on the top and a mix of sandwiches on the other two trays. The smoked salmon and shrimp salad sandwich were the best, and the others I could pass on. I was a bit disappointed that they didnt serve cucumber sandwiches as that was a favourite of mine during my college days. The second set came out with the sweets. There were chocolates on the top, cupcakes in the middle, and scones on the bottom. We were stuffed from the sandwiches and could only munch on the scones. The waiter noticed that we couldnt have anymore, and kindly offered to pack our sweets to go, which was a bit unexpected. Ive never taken the food leftover from tea, and Im quite surprised that the Russian Tea Room graciously asked.Overall, the experience was good. The décor was nice- the red seats definitely jumped out at you, but it could appear a little tacky. The paintings added to the atmosphere and the place was quiet enough to have a nice conversation. The servers were quite attentive and polite, but their tea service could improve. From my past frequents to the Ritz for tea, the servers were quite attentive as they helped you pour your tea and refill. In this respect, the Russian Tea Room could improve. The food was good, but nothing that blew me away. I would come back. In fact, my friend said she wants us to go back with dates next time.
I ordered a cake for my sons 13th birthday. He loves call of duty as most teenagers do. The cake turned out even better than I thought. I would diffidently get more for here.
I went in there store on ST. Valentines Day The Linear Tarts seems to have been made too fast top and bottom of cookie mismatched jelly squirted in, powered sugar then spread on top. LOOKS LIKE THEY WERE A VERY RUSH JOB, OR SOMEONE WITH NO EXPERIENCE PUT THEM TOGETHER ! Most of the cakes in the cases were cracked ? Either to old ? or to thin of a topping on the cake ? Cup cakes I needed cupcakes,But without the sprinkles on them, Several trays on the glass counter tops but,NOT one without sprinkles that I could have purchased !
Just picked up a strawberry shortcake from them...and one of the strawberries is moldy!!! Im not talking about a little bit but almost 50% of the strawberry had the white fuzz on it. Just goes to show you how "fresh" there strawberries they used or how long the cake was sitting out there. I will never use this place again. Ive bought from them once before with no issues but I probably just got lucky I didnt buy an old cake. Cant believe the lady who sold me it had the nerve to sell it to me too.
