Memorial cross on top of a mountain accessible by cable car, with picturesque views of city below.
Millenium Cross in Kisela Voda
Description
Privilege
Always good to walk up and let your mind refresh. It can be slippery in Fall on the way down if you get on the smaller paths without mountain shoes. But nothing dangerous.
MoreDont miss to go hiking at Vodno when the weather is sunny. The view is clear and you can see Skopje and sourrandig places.
MoreWent up and down by cable car. The price of it is absoloutly friendly, 100MKD, around 2€ for a return ticket. The view is amazing, but there is nothing up over there on the top. As i remember i have seen 1bar but thats all.
MoreVery nice and clean place to have an overview of the city.
Great place for hike.
Best view of Skopje, clean air, forest, trails and always a pleasant day spent when the sun is oht
MoreMagnificent view of the capital city of Macedonia. A must go number one touristic destination. I just love it.
MoreIt was quite nice.. the rope way to reach there is also good... The city landscape views are awesome..
MoreAmazing views of the city. A definite must see and do on the cable car.
The ride up (and downthe 🚡 cable car good fun and excellent value. Views stunning. It was a bit chilly when we went so didnt hang around for a coffee or drink so no idea what café like. Worth the trip just for the views.
MoreNice view fast and lean Cabell cabins
Nice panorama and great views from up here. Especially for the sunset. Theres several trails going up the hill to the cross - most of them starting somewhere near Vodno. Some of them are easier than others - they all range between 1-3 hours depending on your walking pace. You can also take the cable car from Vodno.Up near the cross is a small snackeria with coffee and small bites. Check the cable car time table before you come up here...so you dont get stuck.
MoreNice place to bring tge kids and do a hike
The gondola is very cheap, 100 MKD. Up there has nice views. It has a coffee shop and it has ok prices. I liked Sredno Vodno better, has more stuff and the coffee shops are cheaper then up there. Sredno vodno is where the gondola starts and it is kind of in the woods but its refreshing from the high temperatures in the city. I liked it and I would definitely go back.
MoreGreat view of Skopje and nature around it. Cable car ride is fast and comfortable.
MoreThe best place to cool yourself dawn. It’s always cooler on the top of the mountain then being down in Skopje
MoreNot for the cross itself but the view, with just a 5 minutes walk from the cablecar station is amazing. Definitely a must go if youre in Skopje!
MoreIt is just a metal cross on a mountain. Nothing special indeed. Just like the one they put up in Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The way up is slippery, the view is amazing, but the metal cross that shines at night is actually totally unnecessary for the amount of churches Skopje actually already has.
MoreImpressive cross that’s way bigger than expected: ‘shining bright like a diamond’! However I would not recommend the hikes when it is 36 degrees Celcius 🤯
MoreA huge metal cross on top of Vodno mountain. Makes the mountain look a bit like a grave from a distance. Great view from it once you climb via the elevators. Positive side is it adds some shops and restaurants, and a kids play area.
MoreI had the pleasure to hike to the top of Millennium Cross and it was awesome. I took a cheap bus from downtown near Alexander the Great statue and it dropped me a 10min wall from the trail start bear the foot of the mountain. From there its a 45min-1h uphill hike to around half way to the top where there are parking facilities, shops, etc. . Middle mountain is where you can catch the cable car that will get you straight to the top. You can also skip the hike to middle mountain by taking a bus from the foot of the mountain to middle mountain. From middle mountain to Millennium cross there are half a dozen hiking paths to choose from, from moderate to difficult. 1h-1h30 later youll have the Millennium Cross in sight where you can enjoy relaxing on one of the benches or get a snack such as an ice-cream, coffee, etc....
MoreSuperb view, no restaurant, if you are allowed to go with car road is not okay. Anyway great potenial and nature is really nice.
MoreSuper views, amazing hike to the top. A must for any wonderer in Skopje😊
The millennium cross is an impressive installation at the top of the mountain, it’s truly huge. What let’s it down is the bizarre presence of a telecom tower right next to it, why on earth would anyone approve that installation, it could have gone anywhere on the mountain, but for whatever reason, someone thought let’s -op this here so photographers need to be creative trying to capture it.
MoreNice but not astonishing ;Actually you get here only for the view since theres really nothing else to do.Cable car ticket is 100 den. Parking is quite expensive (75 den for a first hourif you compare it with parking in the city centre - and you need to have a macedonian phone number to pay for it. Theres a small coffe-bar at the top of Vodno and a playground for kids. Sometimes its possible to get at the top of the cross but today it was closed.
MoreBreathtaking view, 360° view. Worth the hike and the short cable car trip. Highly recommended.
MoreDid a hike from St. Panteleimon. Enjoyed my coffee with the panorama view of Skopje. The cross is humongous but not sure why they are building a telecom tower next to it....
MoreCool visit. Be careful, parking lot by cable car is paid but no signs in English. They will boot your car and ask for inflated ticket cost. Make sure you ask around to pay! The city should really replace or add to the signs for a national attraction
MoreBest view of the city, and the valleys in all directions. Depending on the time of year a sweater as the temperature drops quite a bit at the top. The gondola only seems to operate the first 30 minutes of each hour, then shuts down. So you have 30 minutes at the top minimum. Not to be missed of you are anywhere near Skopje.
MoreWent on hiking on this beautiful day. Some of the parts were a bit slippery due to some ice still stuck on the side of the mountain. Overall the hike was a nice getaway from the smog below. I do recommend to bring hiking sticks or boot chains if it is still 🥶.
MorePerfect place for hikers, cool relaxed environment and nice view of skopje
Very good place with an amazing view of the city of Skopje!A very good itinerary for training by walking, running, cycling or just to walk with your family, pets, friends , always safety ,far from the polluted city. The cross,as the symbol of Christianity gave me power to arrive till there!SpyrosGreece!
MoreVodno Mountain has many trails of various difficulties that you can take to enjoy the picturesque views and peaceful forests. The view from Millenium Cross is beautiful, and you can see the entire city. The cable car is currently closed so the cross is only accessible by foot.
MoreNice views from the spot. I went there in winter and everything was closed, but I believe thats just because of the time of the year and pandemic.
MoreBest place to visit when you are visiting Skopje. There is free bus 🚌, To the middle or a taxi for three or four dollars all the way to the middle then you have to walk around half an hour to the top.Pick up anything you need because there is very little to buy up apart from a Tea ☕️.Due to the Covid most of the things are closed but nobody gonna prevent or stop you from working on the steep hiking trails.
MoreRide to the top was exciting and the views were amazing, you can see the rain coming on my pictures. Beautiful view of Skopje from this hill and nice spot for a chilling in nature.
MoreGood prices (cable car, etc), perfect view, plus we were lucky with he weather🙂 only downside, like basically everywhere in nmk, the litter lying round everywhere, overfilled trash cans, etc. So, please bring a plastic bag, put your trash inside and take it to a container, either up there or take it down and dispose of IN A CONTAINER. Thanks 😘
MoreIt is a worthy place outside of the city. You can go there to relax and enjoy the fantastic views of the city and the mountains surrounding the area. Buses are free at the weekend to go there and the cable car is 100 dinars return tickets. It is nice to bring some booze and enjoy the day. At the weekends is very crowded though.
MoreIt is worth the trip. Fresh air and landscape accompany you in your journey up to the top where Millennium Cross is. The view from up there is rare. You can have an unique perspective over Skopje and also splendid views of hills and mountains all around. I would say the place is a must when you visit Skopje. It is a joy for nature friendly people. The access to the Cross can also be done using the cable cabins. One must pay attention to the schedule as they take a brake sometime midday.
MoreGreat view from top. Not much to esp in winter, and also beware the smog. But differnet perspective. Parking free on weekdays.Machine operates every half hour so u may be stuck longer if u are on shcedule
MoreThe place had one big problem and that was utter lack of anywhere inside to sit in case of cold weather like I experienced. I would gladly go to a restaurant there and had a coffee and something to eat, but there was just a hole in the wall with some snacks and instant coffee in a cup and outside chairs. The cable car is good and you have a nice view from there. I was unlucky it was so cloudy and foggy at the top. It did look a bit like from a Silent hill :Anyway I would recommend it on a sunny day. If they do something about the hospitality business up there it could be good even on a cold day.
MoreNice place to spend an hour or less. Huge cross which can be seen from even beyond Skopje when illuminated at night. You need to catch the Bus No. 25 from the bus station under the bridge. I suggest you buy the Day ticket card which costs 150MKD has 2 trips already in it - you can then top it up for cheaper tickets.Last bus towards Vodno (location of Millenium Crossis at 15.20.The timetable is in the photos. It takes 30mins approximately to arrive at the base of the cable car. You then need to catch an 8min ride via cable car which costs 100MKD (1.65Eurwith return downwards included.
MoreLoved it! Ride to the top was exciting and the views were amazing. There were also a bull walking around freely at the kiosk, which I did NOT expect.
MoreOne of the best places to go in Skopje. You must visit this place. There is a beautiful view. And the cross is really huge. Bus goes there every 30 minutes, ropeway to the top works 30 minutes in an hour.
MoreI absolutely loved this place. The hike up the mountain is very relaxing and before you know it you’re at the top. You can ride you bike or choose to walk depending on your preference. You can also take a cable car to the top, but in my opinion that takes the fun away from the visit. I like to hike up and then take the cable car on my way down. At the top you will find the infamous cross which can be seen from kilometers away both in the day and in the night. There is a cafe and tables to sit at and relax after your long hike, and to sit down and enjoy the views. The views at this place are amazing, truly breathtaking. You can see the whole city and even point out famous structures such as the stadium. The air is much better than down in the city and it really helps you ease down and relax. The whole place is very picturesque from the cross to the views. I definitely recommend visiting this place and putting it down as one of your top destinations to visit while in Skopje.
MoreI found the Millenium Cross and the surrounding area a bit underwhelming. There were no real toilets, only some dirty portable toilets. You see trash lying around. I was expecting to find some information about the hiking area, to see some signs, paths etc. - which I didnt. So I skipped the hiking and took the cable car back. The air and the view up there are really nice. There are lots of picnic tables which I liked. I also enjoyed the ride in the cable car. Maybe this place becomes busier in summer and gets cleaned up then.
MoreOne of the many places people need to visit in Skopje, if the weather is good. The view is amazing .You can see the whole city from there, and if you feel like hiking , its the perfect place for you. There is also a small cafe place there for a short rest and a hot/ cold beverage.
MoreWhile this place is reachable via cable car, and I can imagine it is truly beautiful in daylight visiting the place in the evening reveals a different yet as amazing view on the city. I would however recommend this only to people used to hiking and also only stay on the street rather than using the hiking path (only to go up when it is not already darkas it is dangerous since there is no light whatsoever.
MoreThe large cross can be see from all over the city, especially at night when it is lit. However, from up there one gets to see impressive views of all the city. We took a taxi to the cable car which leads exactly to the cross. Once up there you can take walks surrounded by nature. A coffee shops is available near the cross. Unfortunately the lift in the cross is still under construction. Try to do this trip on a clear day... For those who would like to walk for long distances I noticed a reception next to the parking area which seems to assist in such activity, however I did not go in to check.
MoreAmazing viewpoint! Cafe at the top. Cable car priced really cheap. Busses to and fro to the location of the cable car are every hour so plan accordingly. I hiked up and down which was very enjoyable.
