Corso Venezia, 55, 20121 Milano MI, Italy, Milano
19th-century building with displays of minerals, fossils, skeletons & preserved animals.
Lovely museum with a wide array of species. Definitely worth a visit pot 5 euros!
Museum is old. 90% of the text is in Italian and not translated to English. Lacks interactivity and facilities like toilets, etc.Overall, the content and information is decent. Not sure if I’d recommend it to others.
A good museum neat to the center of Milan £4.50 to enter and a very interesting mineral display, the park next to it is good
Maybe a place for kids. Not worth the price. They have more security than the Vatican City, following you around all the time. Really really really annoying
I was lucky and it was free to enter. I liked it so much and the collection was excellent. Such a shame the dinosaur section was under restoration. Overall a very good place to visit for "Discovery Channel or Animals Planet peoples" like me.
Interesting, pretty large collection, not expensive (€5/ticket, free admittance for children)
This was one of the best museums I have been to. It was extremely factual and well laid out. Most of the exhibits were in Italian with some sections in English. You could interpret most of the info from the way it was laid out. Very happy with the experience.
Amazing! 2 hours of joy.
Solid 3. Great gallery for its money, but everything is in Italian, excluding few things. No audio guide. Like the nature and history but only as a pic
To me, a good museum should be interactive and engage people to enjoy the learning experience. This museum is very far from engaging or funny, especially for kids. Facilities are extremely outdated, and 99% of the explanations are in Italian ONLY. I will not come back and I will not recommend it. Personnel was nice
In general it was a nice experience.First third of museum was not that great, all the pieces are copies or puppets. Second flour and last part are interesting.I’d suggest this museum both for teenagers and for adults.
Extremely detailed and artistically made dioramas of the moment one of many creatures is about to lose their life. Many rocks/stones on well lit display.Larger than youd think.
Very nice museum! They have so many animals, fossils and cool rocks and crystals. Not much information is available in English though
Very nice, especially for kids. Enjoyed the animal exhibit.
I loved the exhibits, especially the wildlife ones. Its a big collection too, so you could spend a while in there looking at everything. I wouldve liked more English translations. A good 80% of everything was only in Italian, so it was hard to get the full picture of some of the things in there. And the staff arent the most friendly to English speakers
The collection is wonderful and I really enjoyed walking around the museum. Some halls were undergoing maintenance, but that didnt take anything from the visit!
Cool looking dino outside the museum.
It is an amazing, wonderful museum you should visit at least once. Ground floor there are dinasour skeletons and some beautiful gemstones but the show begins at upstairs. If you are an enthusiasistic person to watch wildlife documentaries you shall surprize at increadibly real-like wild animal models behind the glass. You can take photoshoot but video recording is not permitted.
One of the most interesting and visually beautiful museums! The recreations of the animals in their habitat is something quite unique.I highly recommend you stop by if youre interested in animals!
Great dinosaur collection and beautiful stuffed animal scenes.
Great museum, we especially liked amazing minerals and dinosaurs. The only big downside is the lack of the signs in English, the only ones available are in Italian.
The building is beautiful but the museum itself is just ok. 90% of the descriptions are only in Italian so if you dont speak the language and you want to know more about the exhibition then this is not for you. Also after we stepped outside literally 1 step through the exit we saw the toilet sign so we decided to go back to use the facilities one of the staff came running (I am not exaggeratingto demand our ticket talking very laudly nearly yelling at us. We just went through the door now its absolutely fine to ask for tickets but not by jumping on us and nearly screaming. Also its a bit much to be guarding a toilet like that, it was dirty smelled bad, no soap and no paper to dry your hands. Wouldnt recommend especially not with kids.
Such an incredible place to take your kids and get out of the heat. Our young boys loved it! We spent a good 2 hours wandering around. And its next to a nice park and easy to get to via tram or metro.
What a collection of natural stones! The colour palette is fantastic! The priceless collection and stands are super clean and nicely lightened.Evolution halls are a bit old, but the presentation is fantastic. I wish they had more English explanations.Check the other two floors. The collection of animals - the best Ive seen so far.Highly suggested.
Exhibits are good with a lot to see but not foreigner friendly - nothing is in English and the security who works there is scary and rude. No signs that say no videos but guards literally shouts at the top of their voices - very tourist UNFRIENDLY"! should learn about hospitality and be more welcoming to tourists and visitors. But it seems that only some guards make their own rules cause others are ok with videos and photos.
The staff are kicking people out of the porch even though it is a downpour outside. Very rude attitude!
The museum is not big but impressive. Your interest will grow with the sizes of show pieces. In beginning you will see minerals, than natural history from beginning of life. There are dinosaurs bones and artificial figures and many more. In last hall there is temporary exhibition which changes time to time. In beginning there is little book shop where you can get souvenirs and books. But books only in Italian language.
There is every type of animal, the kids enjoyed that. But very old style. Way too much written and no manual activities for kids.
It was an amazing experience to walk the halls of such amazing exhibits and displays. Extraordinary preservation of animals, reptiles and fossils alike. Certainly worth the visit and take your time reading the portions that are in English. A large part of the descriptions are in Italian and require some time reading if you’re not as fluent.
Really lovely museum. Unfortunately tarnished by two extremely rude staff members. When we got there the receptionist shouted at us because we misheard her (a woman with blue and purple hair, just describing her so you can avoid her if possibleand asked a question before saying hello. Then we were taking pictures of crystals and my daughter switched to video, the security woman told her video was not allowed (there is no signs explaining thisso she instantly stopped, then said security woman proceeded to follow us around and point us out to other security like we were criminals. On the other hand a the rest of the staff were really lovely and friendly, they should just keep those two away from the public.
Great for kids, as there are real size dinasours and stuffed animals in their environment, but the setting could be renovated slightly. Staff very friendly and helpful
Nice museum to stop by. I have no expectations and it went great. I love the stone and crystal collection. Though there are little English descriptions so bring a dictionary with you.
Very nice place!!!! We spent there 2 more hours and our 11 y.o. daughter was excited (even taken into account a fact that she is typical represents of teenager... tic tok, xbox and all such things)
One of the best museums in Milan. Amasingly huge selection of rocks and minerals, also lots of fossils and stuffed animals
To go there I needed to buy a ticket in advance, plus bring my Green Pass. I was surprised by how much information is collected here. Theres a path from minerals to different human diet types - from the beginning of the Earth to modern national diets via fossils founded in Italy and the rest of the world. Actually, the presentation is about the evolution history of the Earth and humanity which is done very well, so Its worth to visit this place to children as well as adults. Highly recommend!
One of the best museums I have been… has a lot of things to see. Many of the explanations were written in Italian though 😕
The museum take us back In history. Describing the origin of man as well as plants and animals not limiting its expositions to the aquatic creature. It is an interesting place to visit just to remind ourselves of nature from many year ago.
Very different from the natural history museum in London the exhibits are wide ranging and wonderfully presented many of them appear alive.
Decent place for only €5 each. Most descriptions are in Italian but enjoyed our visit all the same. Displays really well put together
A fun museum, the effort put into posing each animal exhibit is nice. The last hall before the exit was closed off, so we had to go all the way back around through the entire museum to get out. That was kind of weird, but overall we really enjoyed strolling around.
Great to visit with children! Its not too busy and its nicely laid out. It does get quite warm inside though.
Very cool museum with an amazing reconstruction of the evolutionary history of human nature: from the insects to the dinosaurs all trough the homo sapiens/neanderthal etc. The reconstruction looks very realistic and it was interesting for my 5 year old boy since he is fascinated by the dinosaurs!Highly recommended + inexpensive
The museum is good. You must visit it but do not expect to see the best natural history museum in europe in Milan. It has a nice variety, good explanations but it still has some improvements to get to the top level in Europe. The museum its clean and people friendly. The worst points are: the impossibility to leave the jackets in the cloakhouse, the climatization of each room (too hot), and the distance between this museum and the top European museums of this category.
We went on a day when admission was free (first Sunday of each month). I really enjoyed the exposition, you could see how the animals live in their habitats. The museum was mostly in Italian, only a few English notes. Personally, it wasnt a big problem for me because I enjoyed just looking at the exhibition but some more English would be nice.
Great place, we had such fun today on the free museum day in Milan; my 6 and 3 years would like to return next weekend!
My family love natural history museums and this one did not disappoint. Fantastic exhibits.
Really interesting tour, with lots of animal showcases in their natural environment, and the corresponding explanations. The building is awesome by the way. I reckon 1 to 2 hours before completing the visit, depending on your pace.
At €3 for a student, like all the civic museums in Milan, it certainly won’t break the bank. In my opinion, I would say this is one of the less worthwhile ones. On the bottom floor, there are some cool pre-historic exhibits, with various fossils and replicas, but most of the information is in Italian & often doesn’t offer an English translation. I get the feeling that they are getting around to changing this though, as some of the newer info boards have English on them. The second and third floors are almost entirely taxidermy & I wouldn’t both with again. Although the exhibits do have some interesting info alongside them, tank after tank of stuffed animals does get a little sad after a while.
Decent museum with not very friendly staff. We decided to visit the museum as it was pouring outside. We were first welcomed by someone unfriendly staff at ticket office - perhaps experience exacerbated by not being able to effectively communicate with them. Museum itself is fairly comprehensive and it takes some time to see everything. Unfortunately not all exhibits had information about them in English. One thing to mention is that in my opinion the museum is missing some sort of cafeteria, where people could take a short break from sightseeing.Overall still positive and worth the time.
A really impressive collection of exhibits. From fossils to bones and the composition of some of the scenes were really on point. A lot of fun if you have a kid. And dont forget the museum has 2 floors!
