Probably the best hotel in all of San Pedro. Its beautiful. The hotel is spacious, clean, quiet and has an absolutely incredible view of the lake and surrounding mountains. The price is reasonable and the bedrooms are comfortable without gnats which can be an issue with some of the other locations. You truly feel like youre on vacation here.They are a ways off of the main strip which is great for quiet relaxation. The walk is about 10 minutes to the heart of San Pedro. Feels like getting the best of both worlds

We had a great stay here! The hotel is nice, clean with a beautiful view and great location, very calm and quiet. The owner and staff are very helpful and service minded. There is a nice terrace, kayaks for rent, and a kitchen you can use. I highly recommend this place!

We stayed here for 4 nights. Its in a really nice location thats not far away from the main strip but close to plenty of restaurants, bars and shops. The place is a beautiful complex thats got plenty of rooms and space to chill. The owner is a really nice dude who is welcoming and friendly. Can rent kayaks out to the lake and an even cook in the kitchen if need be. Only downside was the WiFi which only worked downstairs in the reception area. I think if you are OK holiday then it doesnt matter so much but if you are a digital nomad or someone who has a travelling lifestyle like myself (where your life is travellingthen it might be a slight problem. Otherwise, totally great.

Its kind of my "go to" hotel in San Pedro. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the sounds of the waves lapping up to the hotel just puts me into a deep comfortable slumber...

It was so beautiful. I visited in January and I woke up every morning to the phenomenal scenery. The food in the restaurant delicious, and the hospitality of all the workers was wonderful.

Amazing pizza. Make it vegan without the cheese. And its not lame but still super delisch. Stunning views. Also good place for a date

Update: i’m randomly looking through my old reviews and i’m updating from 2 stars to 5 since the owner explained the situation/problem i experiencedand seems genuinely apologetic. The hotel is nice and i try to be understanding.I came from San Marcos one morning for breakfast. I asked if they had rooms, they said yes, and that they will put me down for one, and that i could check in at noon. I went back to San Marcos, packed my bags, came back across the lake just to be told that they do not have a room because someone reserved it online after i asked for it and there was nothing they can do. I just love walking miles with heavy bags in the middle of the day after packing my hotel room (which i would not have done had i known). The hotel is beautiful and the food is good, but they need a better system.

My husband and I went for dinner. It was the second time during 2 weeks in San Pedro. Food is okay, but the lake views from the terrace and our server made it a must for a second visit.

I love this place. The coffee is great, has an amazing view of the lake, the people who work there are really cool and it is perfect to go to on a weekend to study.

This place got more than 1 star just because the staff was very nice and helpful...other than the room was aweful. First we got dirty sheets and towels, we asked and got new ones with no problem..but they were dirty as well. Next, we found so many ants in the room we needed to ask the receptionist to help us clean and spray insect repellent in the room. We had spiders (plural!! 5 big onesOn the curtains and some other bugs on the bed. The shower was extremly unstable, getting steaming hot water and freezing water alternitavely without any control. No matter the time of day or how short was the shower (we tried). I dont know how are other hostels in San Pedro, but its our 4th hostel in Guatemala and by far the worst. If you still want to look at the positive, theres a very good view of the lake and very helpful and nice staff.

It looks like a quite place, is clean and cozy but the fact that the restaurant is on the 3rd floor makes every morning and night a really noise time and is not comfortable.

The location of the hotel is perfect.The room and the kitchen were not clean. The first night we had a cold shower and no Wifi, they repair it so the second night was ok.We slept on the first floor and at 6.15 AM they start working in the kitchen (second Floorthey are very very noisy.

Really great terrace. I only had fruit with yogurt and granola, but it was good. I had coffee and wine and read. Its a relaxing place.

We either just had terrible luck or this place really only deserved 1 star. Hoping that it was an out of the ordinary experience I gave an extra star. The location is as good as it gets, they have a GREAT rooftop terrace, and the staff is friendly, thats why I gave 2 stars. Everything else about my experience was terrible. We stayed here because someone we met had stayed here and loved it, we had the opposite experience.We reserved a private room and got the separated building, which was private, but Id never stay there again. The room was INFESTED with spiders and we spent most of the time killing spiders, some of which were huge and we were eaten alive by them with huge bites to show from it. The place was dusty and dirty, things were left in there from the last guests, the hot water never worked right and we had to go use the shared bathroom to shower. Id read reviews on other sites about the wifi and didnt really expect to use or need it being around such a beautiful place, but when you advertise that you have it, it should work, and it didnt. They had a sign up (which looked permanentthat blamed the intermittent WiFi on the city, but it worked everywhere else we went in the city without fail. We also used their laundry service, also a mistake. We were told just throw the laundry in the laundry bucket provided in the room (which wasnt providedand theyd deliver it back with same day service. Well, when we got our laundry back that day, theyd washed our whites with something red and it was all stained and pink, all ruined.I realize that they arent the ones who did the laundry, and the wifi may not actually be their fault, but compiled together with the spiders and the dirty room......Im struggling to not take away that second star before I submit this, but I hope that our experience is not the standard.

Delightful hostel, clean, quiet, with good food and drink options. The only complaint is that it’s a bit far to walk from the center of town at night (take a tuk tuk). Very close to the Santiago dock. There’s a pool table and board games and a hot tub and a great volcano view in the morning.

I stayed here with a couple of friends for three nights about a week ago. After spending some time in a couple mediocre hostels around Guatemala, we were pleasantly surprised by how affordable and nice Mikaso was. Its a little more out of the way than some other places in San Pedro, but it is still a very easy 7-10 minute walk or 3 minute tuk-tuk ride to most anywhere in the town. They also have a lot of affordable activities such as kayaking and volcano hikes. The woman at the front desk was very accommodating when I needed to cancel a hike the night before due to an illness.

Good place with an amazing view and nice restaurant. Rooms were good, all as expected. The difference really was the host who gave us a lot of good tips, provided additional help with some bookings and places to go to.

Its a decent place a bit run down. Its on a great location and stuff is nice. I was in room 8, $75CAN per night. There is a shared balcony in front of this room with some great views of lake Atitlan.

Great location directly at the river, prices are fair. But they do Not have the Jacuzzi anymore on the rooftop and the room we had was damp and moldy

The sink had no hot water. When I asked, I was told that the hot water was only in the shower, but I didnt test it. View of the lake was advertised, but my room was windowless and in the back. Other rooms may be better. Its clean. Lots of construction around the hotel, although all is quiet at 3 pm on a Thursday.

The most comfortable bed and nicest duvet I have ever found in a hostel dorm. The hostel is quiet and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Grounds and restaurant are nice.Upon arriving in the property the first thing I noticed was a sign stating that the hot tubs were out of order (one of the main selling points for the property). By the time I left the hot tubs had been completely removed and the sign had changed to Hot tubs no longer offered (although the websites havent been updated). Upon getting to the room I decided my first action would be to purchase bug spray, as other reviews had commented there were spiders and spiderwebs in the room. The lockers were very small for the purpose, and I was only just able to jam my small backpack inside after taking out my laptop and putting that in separately. As other reviewers have stated the dark unlit path from the road down to the hotel does feel dodgy. Wifi on level 2 (where most of the rooms seem to be locateddoesnt work at all. I was going to check out after my first night but changed my mind due to the comfort of the bed and bedding.

You dont know it now but when you get there you will understand what a hidden gem of an establishment. Not only was i able to eat pouting on the third floor of this hidden resort but it also came with a striking view of the lake attilan. It really isnt easy to find the place but cant say how happy you will be once you get there.i can only assume that the owners are from quebec. Oh

The 8 bed dorm we stayed in was simple, but very clean and nice. The bathroom was a little dirty and didn’t have toilet paper when we arrived, but staff took care of it when we asked. The location is a little out of the center of San Pedro, but it’s a quick walk. The restaurant food was good, though service was very slow.

Super nice place! Super view! They even have a place where you can cook if youd like to bring your DIY food.

The hot tub + cool tub were nice. The rooms have a humidifier and the showers have hot water. Its very calm...definitely not a party spot.

Has two hot tubs on a large deck. Billards. Clean, with large sitting area for eating. Wood burning stove for Pizza. Great view on the lake edge. Nick is the owner. Food prices are moderate.

I had a friend coming to join me in San Pedro La Laguna. I decided to move to a larger, “fancier” room from my simple, basic, yet clean $5.00 USD per night room with a lovely garden, close to the water with a nice restaurant on the grounds to Mikasa based on the reviews. In all of my years of traveling, which are many, I have never picked so poorly and felt so “taken” money wise.True, the viewpoints and the greatly hotel are lovely. However, I requested during my reservation on line to be placed in a “quiet room.” When I arrived, the hostess from San Salvador was most hospitable. However, at 6am the following morning, I discovered that my room was directly below the kitchen and beginning 6am every morning for each morning I was there (3), the days preparations in the kitchen began. It sounded as though there was a constant dropping of kitchen implements on the floor.Also although the cleaning staff came in every day, the bathroom always smelled and it was obvious that they did not clean the floor, especially in the shower.Upon checking out, I mentioned my disappointment about the lack of quietness and lack of cleanliness that I would expect in particular for a hotel that charges $41.00 USD per night in San Pedro ( a substantial amount of moneyin this market. The manager, a European man, asked what room I had been in and then shrugged his shoulders saying that he had never received such complaints. He did not even offer an apology.I call this a lack of customer service and consideration .

Amazing location and hostel/hotel. Everything was very clean, the staff was excellent, and the deck to hang out was wonderful. The whole place feels like a huge manor with many places to sit on chairs and balconies with amazing views to relax or read a book. I didnt eat at the restaurant but other travellers told me the pizza is excellent. Great place to stay to relax and unwind in San Pedro!

Good Saturday breakfast Buffet for 40QCoffee or tea is included.Buffet has eggs, potatoes, sausages, pancakes, fruits, cereal, yogurt,.... you can get a omlette, scrambled egg... as well.Food is good but not outstanding. Not the best breakfast we had in San Pedro but I give solid 4 stars as the terrace right at the lake is pretty sweet.

One of my favorite restaurants in San Pedro la Laguna. The women chefs manning the kitchen are AWESOME cooks. And the wait staff is incredibly competent and super friendly, especially Deborah and Ashley. Highly recommend this restaurant as well as the beautiful stroll you have to take to get here. As with most places in Guatemala, if you have trouble walking up stairs, beware. (But it really is worth the effort!)

Mikaso Hotel y Restaurante was our first destination after leaving Guatemala City and our two night stay was fantastic. I was traveling with two other friends, one of which mistakenly booked a single bed for three people. When we arrived, we were immediately offered an additional mattress for our party of three. At that time we were thrilled to have a place to crash. We wouldnt have asked for or expected anything else given our mistake.All of the staff was very accommodating! After we had left to eat we were informed that an additional room opened up and were able to transfer from our original room into one with three beds! The hotel was very clean. The views from our room, the roof and the restaurant were amazing.Our group wanted to hike Volcan San Pedro on a whim and at 8pm the hotel staff arranged a guide to take us up the Volcano hike for the next day. Prices were more than fair for what was arranged.Sit back and unwind at the Hotel Mikaso, this place is amazing and would highly recommend to friends and especially couples who are looking for a romantic getaway in Guatemala. After a day of hiking we spent some time relaxing in the hot tubs on the roof, again the view was amazing and it was a perfect way to end a difficult day of trekking.Lake Atitlán is a great destination in and of itself but our stay here was very relaxing and enjoyable at Hotel Mikaso.My only regret is that we didnt get a chance to eat at the restaurant while we stayed here. Everyone I spoke with said it was very delicious.

Paid extra for a private room--it was very humid and smelled like sulfur. The shower was freezing and had maggots at the bottom. There was mold on the walls, and a leak in the toilet so the bathroom floor was always wet. On top of that, there were not enough outlets and the wifi hardly worked. The only thing going for it are the incredible views of the lake and the nice deck. Overall, we were very disappointed and we will not be back.

This is a review for the restaurant. They should really have separate Google locations since I didnt stay at the hotel.Mikaso is another restaurant with promise that didnt succeed. Went alone to this place, and ordered a Tzaziki Wrap with fries, along with a ginger tea. The restaurant has magnificent views, and the night I went there was a piano player playing jazzy classical hybrid music.The server was very nice, a little slow. The tea took about 15 minutes to get, and it tasted basically like hot water. If theyd just left me with a tea bag, Id have steeped it myself. The wrap took 40 minutes to get to me, and while the plate looked big, colorful, and hearty, with fries and cucumber tomato salad, the wrap was pretty deflated and meager. Seems that they added the cheap side dishes (friesto make it look bigger. The flavor was pretty good, so I was quite happy with that at least.The biggest drawback are the prices. Sure, theres a good view and when youre lucky, some live music, but that doesnt permit meager portions at high prices. I can get a heartier wrap for that price at home!If you want to pay for a view, this is the place. If you a good price, dont come here.

I wouldnt recommend staying in the shared rooms. The location is great and the price is the cheapest I found (Q60), but when I got the room and to my bed it was covered in bugs. My pillow was supposed to be white but instead was black because thats how many flies covered it. When I went down to advise the front desk he simply stated "we have no more availability" and that was it.I went a tiny bit further up the road to Pinocchio and got myself a private room for a smidgen more (Q100which was budget but great value and they were so friendly. I didnt even bother going back to Mikaso for a refund.

As we trekked around and the through the back streets of San Pedro, which are seemingly endless and mysterious, we finally started following signs for Hotel Mikaso, out on the end of the waterfront. A path led out to what seemed to be a floating hotel with a huge deck and picturesque rooms with superb views.....like something Hemingway might have stumbled upon in 1950s Havana....very atmospheric! We sat endlessly on the deck drinking beers and gabbing with some young German guys who were playing pool. Two hot tubs adorn the place. Room rates are a bit high, but the views are incredible! While we did not stay there, I recommend that you at least check it out for lodging....and failing that, DO go there and enjoy food and beverages on the deck. Highly recommended!

The only downside I saw was that they didnt have a TV. Place is tourist friendly and clean. Safe and family friendly. My kids enjoyed the jacuzzi and the wife and I enjoyed a little bit of pool 🎱 before heading out.

This place is very beautiful it was amazing views. The only issue is that we stay there with a group of friends, on the room for 8 people. The room was full of spider waves and spiders.

I stayed on a shared room but the people was noisy, the restaurant serve good meal, there is a area with hot tubs and chairs to rest with a nice view to the lake

dont come here. they will treat you like rif rad. this place is nice and beautiful. unfortunately Ive only been here a 6 hours and already want to leave. I checked in and everything seemed to be going well. when I was at dinner with my boyfriend, the front desk attendant who checked us in came up to us, interrupted our dinner, to tell us she needs to take our fan because the people who checked in after us need it. confused I asked why do they deserve a fan more than we do, mind you its HOT AF in this room... to which she responded, well rooms without lake views need a fan. I then said, I dont have a lake view, Im in room #2 facing the garden. despite this she still made my boyfriend leave dinner to go get the fan out of the room and give it to the other more deserving guests who checked in 2 hours after us. Im writing this review from a tiny hot AF room with zero ventilation. oh yea and there was a massive rat in the restaurant :dont come to this place. you will get treated like rif raf.

Great hotel that also contains dorm beds making this feel like a high end hostel but with hostel prices. Views are fantastic, right on the lake. Food is great too but may be a bit pricier for budget travellers. Only a short walk into town. Recommended.

This hotel was probably the best hotel in San Pedro but the rising water level is slowly changing the deal. Indeed have the lake waters started rising for 3 years now at an alarming rate and when I visited it already swallowed a couple of buildings of the hotel forcing the owner to move the dorm from a nice location on the first floor to the ground floor where the view is not as nice.That said the place is still a great place to stay with breathtaking views on the lake and surrounding mountains either from the balcony of the ground floor, the massive first floor terrace or the top floor terrace. Two free-to-use working hot tubs allows to enjoy reasonably-priced drinks or food from the bar/restaurant before sunbathing on the deck chairs.Regarding the rooms the dorm is clean and the beds are comfortable but it lacks windows and feels a little cramped. Rooms look way better but I didnt try them.
