Forster Square, Cheapside, Bradford BD1 4HU, Bradford
Built in the late 1880s, this elegant Victorian hotel is a 9-minute walk from both the National Media Museum and the Alhambra Theatre. The upscale rooms have modern en suite bathrooms. All rooms include free Wi-Fi, satellite TV and tea and coffeemaking equipment. Upgraded rooms add features like 4-poster beds, walk-in showers, DVD and CD players, and iPod docks.Free perks include parking and use of a nearby gym. The refined restaurant serves modern British cuisine, and there's also a bar offering snacks and afternoon tea, along with a pub. There are 9 function rooms, including 2 grand ballrooms, for events and meetings.
A great hotel with a bit of class in the centre of Bradford. Loved it.They have black pudding at the breakfast buffet also, and that always gets a big thumbs up. ๐
Fantastic night with the Beatles for sale top night will come again
Old fashioned Hotel but very spacious. Good breakfast with a wide selection of fruit, which hasnt been the case in the last few hotels. Floorboards in room very creaky. Restaurant manager (ladyis very well organised and knows her job. Eyes everywhere.
The hotel is beautiful needs a little tlc but it is an old hotel .The food was outstanding as was the staff. It was a fabulous evening for the Keighley Cougars presentation awards First class Rugby ๐ .would be stunning as a wedding venue.
Ive only popped into the Midland Hotel Spirit of Bradford bar as I walk from Bradford Interchange station to Valley Parade to watch the football. Ive never stayed there, so cant comment on the rooms, restaurant or service. The Spirit of Bradford bar is an interesting place with a large wall mural of the history of Bradford. Quite a few interesting photographs and framed artifacts. Decent range of drinks, prices are OK. There are a couple of large televisions showing live football at either end of the room. They put out a plate of free nibbles on the bar on a Saturday but I dont know if that happens every day. The toilets near the bar are very clean. The hotel does seem popular for functions and I do believe it has quite a large car park. Its well situated near the city centre, Forster Square train station is only a couple of minutes walk away and Interchange station is about 10 minutes walk. Definitely recommend it as a place to pop into before a Bradford City home game.
Stunning hotel.architecture Stunning. worth a visit even for a coffee and food and tip top service
Very good sized rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Good food.
Love it. An old hotel been updated, but the room needed a little bit of maintenance.
Very good hotel . Meals were good. Staff very attentive. Only negative was no AC
Plus points - the building itself, entrances and public rooms are Victorian era and really beautiful. The staff are really friendly, check in and check out were efficient and informative. If you are visiting the city centre the location is great, next door to Bradford Forster Square station. Well stocked bar and lots of places to sit in the lobby and landing areas. WiFi worked fine and they have a dedicated room if you need to work and lots of meeting rooms. Lift up to all floors from reception. Sufficient free parking and easy to get to. Nice toiletries, really powerful shower, full size bath, big, fluffy towels and decent hairdryer. Tea, coffee, biscuits, kettle, iron and ironing board also supplied in the room. Comfortable bed (for me - the bed is very firm so obviously this is down to preference!), good pillows, mattress and pillow protectors on bed and linens all very clean. Really thick lined curtains. Cons - our room was quite small and was looking a little shabby. I didnt get any photos but it didnt quite live up to the public areas of the hotel. The building is old and when the people upstairs were moving around we could hear the floorboards creak and the plumbing is a little loud. The sash window only opens a few inches which seems pretty standard in most hotels - it would have been useful to have something to prop it open - I ended up using my shoe! TV was quite small but fine and good selection of channels available, due to the room size and layout it was at a great spot for one side of the bed, not so much for the other! We didnt eat at the hotel so I cant comment on the restaurant. Overall if you are visiting Bradford city centre I would recommend for the price.
What a lovely stay. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, the room huge, the building beautiful and dinner delicious. And the ballrooms are spectacular. Im trying to think of a reason to hire one!
Wonderful faded glamour of these huge Victorian Station Hotels. This is one of the best ! OfLocation superb !Good large room but would benefit from better ventilation.Evening dining experience wasnt good as waiter clearly didnt have enough experience or adequate training to service this tables needs. In addition your Menu clearly says its a hand raised steak pie then please serve a "Hand Raised" pie not a poor one from a supermarket or other !Breakfast service and Menu very good.Have spoken with morning duty manager about training & menu. Will return later in Autumn !Regards
Went to midland bar before city game, great staff, free nibbles, after game went to main bar, young lad really looked after us, 1st class customer service, had a look around, what a amazing Victorian hotel, pop in for food or afternoon tea, brill
Room was nice, bed a little bit too high for short people like me lol
Second time we have stayed here. Lovely hotel . It`s also the second time have had a fine for going into a bus lane. Road signage very miss leading. Would recommend maybe the Midland Hotel but some sort of road map on there web site to avoid the bus lanes. Not criticizing the Midland Hotel in any way. Just a suggestion.
A proper historical landmark, with the furnishings and standards worthy of it. The building itself is remarkable, the rooms comfortable and everything exactly as it should be. Welcoming and competent staff too!
Good hotel, food lovely, staff friendly and helpful, so all good ๐
Lovely hotel!Great service especially from OliviaRest of staff great too!
Enjoyed my stay, the service was excellent and everyone was very friendly. The room service was no trouble and I ate in the dining area near the bar. I cannot fault my 3 days. The bed was soooo comfy and all amenities were met.Yes it is an old building but that adds to the charm.A few bits need updating but that is what the form is for in the room to report anything you think needs looking at.Overall I will definitely stay again.
I checked in with friend.I went to the shop at 11.30& It took me 20 mins to get back in ( no security on deskthe room itself smelt musty & due to health problems & the smell I stayed with friends & my friend stayed in the hotel on her own.Good access to Bradford city center. It was Saturday 18 may. We came for the widrush event in the square & the room no was 217 I hope this helps.
What a great hotel, was only ยฃ135 compared to ยฃ195 for a premier inn.We got upgraded to a 4 poster bed as the hotel wasnt tooo busy.Staff were lovely friendly having a giggle and made us feel super welcome.Hotel lobby and bar is beautiful and period features. The lift albeit a little slow is charming and a old school lift. The room was HUGE jacuzzi bath walk in shower I have stayed in many amazing modern hotels around the world and this although a little dated but thats part of the charm was lovely and spotlessly clean.Think old English as opposed to Dubai. With British customer service and charmI visit Leeds often and will certainly be coming back next month, also walking distance into Bradford centre (much improved also)Highly recommended
The Midland is a grand hotel with a lovely staircase anf lift access. It is a little dated, but I noticed that they are redecorating. Lovely venue for a indoor wedding or birthday party.
Great location and great hotel. Staff are well trained and friendly, overall a prime room and location for a snip.
Really enjoyed the Midland Hotel, breakfast was great, dinners very good, friendly staff and first class service, a great bases for our recent trip
Had a fantastic night away at the Midland Hotel for the High School Reunion Murder Mystery event for our wedding anniversary. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening and even got to join in with the cast as part of the show, would definitely recommend staying here and the breakfast was amazing
This hotel is in the central area of Bradford. it is a beautiful place to spend some time and more importantly their customer service is great.
Wow, just wow! Really lovely hotel with very grand features. The facilities were lovely and the guys on reception couldnt do enough for you.The room was a good size and very clean. Considering the age of the property, sometimes the rooms can become very tired, but these were nice. Bed was very comfortable and plenty of pillows provided. If I had to have 2 tiny and insignificant grumbles, 1, the cold water wasnt very cold (yes we put the tap the right wayand 2, the view wasnt particularly great - but as we said, we werent there to look out of the window!Would definitely stay again, it just has that special vibe about it.
Lovely Victorian hotel beautifully decorated, very clean & very comfortable beds.
We stayed here for our wedding. The staff that took care of us were absolutely amazing. The attention to every detail, the care of us and our guests was outstanding. Nathan did an amazing job looking after us and our wedding. The waiters and bar staff were so kind. The food was lovely and so much of it. We really cant thank the hotel staff enough for making our wedding day so special. Ee stayed in the bridal suite, which had a lovely 4 poster bed with rose petals on. There was a good sized tv, tea and coffee in the room with a beautiful en suite bathroom, with a spa bath. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. Thanks again Nathan you did a wonderful job.
Lovely old building, beautiful interior in public areas but our room was tired and view from our room horendous. Staff were all lovely.
We stayed for one night. the room was nice & comfortable. breakfast good. Staff were attentive. nothing too much trouble-hotel is next to the train station. No need to drive.
A decent hotel compare to the price. The location is good and free parking space at the property is available. The breakfast is good and the staff is nice. The building is old and so the infrastructure of the rooms.
My most pathetic stay forยฃ90/night. The room tv was too small( far from the bed)and had no electric sockets near the bedside. They had no room temperature setting, and due to the recent heatwave, the room was hell warm, which made me stay awake and uncomfortable the entire night.Lastly, we asked them to give us a bit more time before checkout as we got stuck in something urgent, but they refused us straightaway. We ruined over ยฃ90 for one pathetic and the most uncomfortable night. We should have chosen premier inn or Travelodge as they offer much better service.
Went for a Mothers Day meal in the elegant French ballroom. Great setting for a special occasion.
I do really like it here, lovely staff, nice food, like the vibe and house keeping is AMAZING! Cleaned room everyday brilliantly and the breakfast to go service was great. However, the heating/aircon wasnt great each room I stayed in is either too hot or too cold. As well as a kind of old musty smell in some rooms, but hey its an old building. Had issues with the payment both times but was sorted in 10 minutes. Would stay again.
Truly excellent hotel. One of the best steaks I have ever eaten. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The right amount of buzzy in the bar / restaurant. A true gem.
Very nice hotel, right in the city center, very close to Bradford Interchange train station. Super friendly staff, 24hr service. I would definitely enjoy staying here again.
Much much bigger than I imagined perfectly clean and tidy all the staff that was on when we had our Christmas lunch was lovely couldnt do enough. The food was great nice and hot and presented well and the singer who sang a mixture of songs was wonderful sound level was just right song choice perfect and we all had a good ๐๐บdefinitely recommended there was 15 of us none of us complained about anything just wished we could have stayed much later.Well done THE MIDLAND HOTEL
We had our company party here and I stayed over.No issues with the food, all served on time and hot.The room was suitable and breakfast was great.
Enjoy a wonderful afternoon tea with delicious sandwiches, cakes, scones and jam with presence and tea in China cups. In the beautiful hotel bar with a stunning Christmas tea in the historic lobby of the hotel. Recommended.
Went to evening wedding reception here, held in a beautiful small but beautiful room. Plenty room for guest numbers. The hot and cold buffet was very nice but as with most hotels the drinks were rather expensive.
Enjoyed our overnight stay. Lovely room, comfortable bed, lovely bathroom.. Friendly staff.. Our opinion the breakfast let it down, was cold served on a cold plate, couldnt mention this as was only one girl serving and was busy. But will stay again when in the area..
Grand old hotel. Lovely staff . The room was comfortable if a bit dated. Lift wasnt working while we were there but these things happen in old buildings I guess.Right next to the train station.Enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.
Lovely hotel. Really clean. Spacious public areas. Excellent staff, nothing was too much trouble and all done with a smile. Food was good. Rooms well appointed with all amenities available. The shower was amazing. There was water pressure! The only downside for me was the afternoon tea. I would have liked there to be more sandwiches than cake. And butter rather than margarine for the scones even if it was butter pats in a dish.
A wonderfully grand victorian Hotel that has lost none of its charm with advancing years. Excellent customer service on all fronts. Max and Olivia to name but two. Expansive breakfast. Comfortable rooms. Free parking. Thank you. Weve had a nice relaxing break.
Beautiful hotel with lots of features. Staff very helpful. The only fault was the bedroom window wouldnt open and we were unable to turn the heating off. The hotel was too hot.
My Wife and I stayed here in one of the double executive rooms,Absolutely Beautiful Hotel.David the General Manager and his Staff were lovely.Breakfast plentiful and delicious.Room was Spotless,Luxury comfortable bed.Service Wonderful. All Staff so helpful and Friendly.Recommend to anyone who seeks Elegance and good service. We certainly will be back!Thank you to everyone at front of House and in the background.Brilliant, memorable Stay.Richard and Anne.
This Beautiful Hotel was Excellent. The General Manager, David and his lovely Staff were all so dedicated. My wife and I were guests there in an Executive room and we absolutely loved being there. The breakfast in our room was excellent ๐attentive Staff. We can highly recommend the Midland Hotel. We were privileged to be guets.Thank you,Richard and Anne
Beautifully old building from the late 1800.Friendly staffI believe the rooms are going through a modernisation. Our bathroom was beautiful, the room was a little above basic, good size but there are some awfully tiny rooms (for the moneyif you are coming from the car park the back entrance is quirky.Great location. If you have to come to Bradford, this is a good choice. It is also next to the Train station.
Evening meal was excellent, beer prices and quality for a city decent, service from Courtney second to none, you have a shining star there. (Dealt with all guests with a smile and professionalism). Room a little dated but comfortable with enough tea, coffee and accessories to keep me happy. Nice touch with the biscuits. Breakfast good variety and tasty. Next time I stay in Bradford the Midland will be my go to.
