Michi Ramen Bar - Restaurant in Missoula, United States
Michi elevates ramen to a new level! Very artistic & delicious. Great service & beautiful craft cocktails.
The service and atmosphere was good but the ramen itself was lackluster. Im pretty sure they used spaghetti for the noodles and the broth tasted like oily water.
I had the TanTanmen and was not disappointed. Was probably one of the best ramen Ive had in a while. Great only for those who can handle the heat, so beware! The hibiscus/cinnamon marg they had on draft that night was also delicious 😋
The food isnt amazing. Our waitress was as space-cadet-y as they come. Didnt think to bring us silverware with our Ramen and our rice dish.I asked for a Pepsi and she brought me coke. Youd think shed atleast mention its not coke.Food was not great anyways. The ramen came lukewarm.
Everything was incredibly delicious! Great flavors. Had a basil mojito that was the perfect blend of complementary, and subtly balanced flavors.
They can do plain Ramen for the kids. I love eating at this place! The staff is always friendly!
Best ramen I have ever had. Incredible. The cocktails were fabulous and it was $5 happy hour from 9pm till close. Our server was absolutely amazing. Were only in town for 3 days and will probably be coming here every day.
The food was amazing but our server was downright terrible. Ashley was visibly drunk and wasnt able to competently split a tab and ignored multiple people in our party when they said how to split it. Also asked where the change was that she already taken back to the til. Do better with your servers Michi especially with how much things cost.Would go back again but would request a different server.
Showed up to order out. Was told they were understaffed and can’t service unless I ate in. I would understand if you didn’t do take out orders as a restaurant policy as the reason why I couldn’t order take out but How does me sitting down and getting the food any different than just getting the food and leaving? There would be no difference in my mind if I were to eat in, then ask for a box to go, immediately after getting the food. In fact if I were to eat in it would be more troublesome to accommodate me if you were in fact understaffed.
So good I ordered a second serving of chicken curry! Also very cool dinning area on a 95° day!! Well worth $50 but one could easily dine by themselves for half.
I loved the ramen here especially the richness of the broth. Would return again!
I lived in Japan for 3 years. I have to say ramen is my favorite soup of all time. I was shocked that this establishment soup was so bland. I will never go here again. Such a shame there is no good ramen here.
Pretty good! Service is decent and the price is reasonable. Although I didn’t like the don buri, the yellow curry ramen was fantastic! As far as Missoula goes, this is a pretty decent place for Japanese food.
Ordered shio ramen. The toppings were similar to Japanese ramen, but the chashu had too much fat. Memma, egg were good. The soup was so greasy and it was hard for me to handle it.The restaurant was busy, but we waited only for 5-10 mins.
Dont bother trying to order take out, theyll say its too busy even if the restaurant is completely empty. Maybe the soup is good? Who knows
Theres no denying that the decor is gorgeous, the drinks are great, and the staff is super kind. This used to be one of our favorite local spots... however, recently, they must have changed the menu slightly because the food has tasted off the last few times I have either gone or ordered from Michi. Today, both mine and my husbands ramen tasted like straight fish when both of us ordered beef-based ramen. It ended up making both of us really sick when we got back home. We used to come here all the time whenever we felt like treating ourselves to something a little more upscale, but after today I dont think well be going back, unfortunately. :( It was a waste of our $50 for meals we couldnt even come close to finishing due to the rotten fish scent emanating off of them. But an extra star for their new nonalcoholic drink menu!
I have eaten here many times before and would love to give it a 5 stars except for the fact that their take-out system is awful. According to Michi they recommend ordering take out through DoorDash as ordering over the phone they will charge you an extra 50% to distribute amongst the staff. This I fully support, but the problem is that they constantly shut down the ability for DoorDash to pick up orders which doesn’t allow customers to order through them forcing customers to order over the phone and adding 50% to what was a very reasonable final price. They claim it’s due to the kitchen staff being overwhelmed, and I get that I’ve worked in more restaurants that I can remember, but the fact that you don’t give your customers any other options loses business for you as a whole. I love eating here and will be coming back, it’s just something that I wanted to share with respect as I do love this restaurant and I know the struggles of working in one.
Awesome Ramen! Super uber-cute staff! Terrificly lovely tea! Adroitly aptly appealingly attractive art! The Michi Ramen was way too tasty to justifiably be! Bulgogi Ramen was rather spicy for me but nonetheless verily very savory, yummy tea too. Peggy was an especially sweet server and had a ever so clever, smart, style and sensibility! Cool comics in the water closet - restroom and a funky awesome feng shui if I do say so myself! Marvelous melodious music and sick bar for suckers! Drinks do look amazing though to be honest!
Decent ramen place. Ordered a large size Tonkotsu ramen bowl and soup tasted like it was diluted. The sides are okay. Yummy and garlicky short rib balls, creative to say the least.
Always enjoyed this place! Find it odd the only recommendation Ive recieved from several different servers is the curry ramen. Tried it, was good, but left me wishing theyd recommend something that represents this place better.
What’s with all the shade in these poor reviews? “This ramen isn’t authentic, I’ve been to Japan…” People that write these asinine, self-absorbed reviews need to grow up. Yea I’ve been to Japan too. Yea this ramen isn’t “authentic.” It’s good. In fact, Michi Ramen is more about the experience. A walk downstairs and your immersed in a beautiful bar. This is one of the coolest and hippest bars I’ve seen! Great indie and edm playlists blasting through the speakers, but not so loud you’re screaming over one another. This is a spot you order a drink, or two. It’s a place to enjoy to the mood, get off your phone and enjoy the company you’re with, or the new friends you make. If you’re looking for an awesome place to kick back and vibe and enjoy a good bowl of noodles, then this is your bar. It doesn’t matter if you’re with friends or alone. I came in solo and spent a few hours here. I just wish the bar had a foot rail… but see that’s nitpicking! Hah! If you’re ever in Missoula and are looking for a hip spot for a cocktail, or a drink and dinner, come through. If not? Go to Noodles and Co.
So excited to have finally found a good ramen joint. Me and my husband are big ramen eaters. This definitely is different from the ramen weve had its has more of a bbq taste but its great! The meatballs melted in my mouth. A lot better than that ramen from the Southgate mall that place was a joke.
Absolutely phenomenal Ramen! I had the michi and Tonkotsu Ramen. As soon as to get to Missoula I get this ramen. I lived in Japan for three year 2015-2018. I’ve eaten at the best local ramen places in Tokyo on multiple trips. Hands down like 6:30, Michi is the best Ramen that I’ve had in the US. I dream about it. Very friendly staff. Nice Decour. Update-Still the best I’ve had in the US, 2 years after my first visit. The menu has stayed consistent and diverse. Michi has maintain a superior quality.
Went for the first time today on my lunch break. Food was excellent. Service was great. Awesome atmosphere. Forgot my leftovers and they held on to them for me until I got off work. Had a killer cocktail when I went to grab them. Will definitely be going back.
Great atmosphere and unique twist on ramen classics. Michi has a terminology cheat sheet that was very helpful! They offer a vegetarian ramen that seems to have a curry flavor that helps to elevate the dish! Good stuff.
This place was amazing in the start but as time has gone on its quality has gone down hill. The last several time we went all of us was held up there never less then 4 to 5 hours just for a two or three person dinner. Didnt matter what day of the week. Then the starter meat balls was beyond burnt. Then hours later the one bowl of ramon comes out. The quality not there and cold from sitting. The egg brakes open cold and was just nasty and ice cold I just dont think the quality justifies the time wait anymore... I hope to see better in the future
My friends and I went to just try this place out not knowing what to expect. Would definitely recommend the oyster mushroom appetizer, was mind blowing honestly. My friends dont even like mushrooms and they couldnt get enough. The ramen is pretty decent as well (not the best Ive ever had but good for Montana). The overall ambience inside definitely made our girls night out very enjoyable, will be coming back for sure.
I like this place, especially bellying up during off hours. Sadie and Lindsey are both great bartenders. Good cocktails and ramen!
The taste of the food made me not move because Im so full.🤣🤣👍🤙🤙🙏Oishi! Thanks for serving the food Kay.From the Madrids🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Love, love the decor/location. Meal was average. Huge portions. Good tea. Wish they had a rice noodle offering.
This place was so amazing! The food was incredible and authentic, and the decor was beyond beautiful. Our server was also amazing, some of the best service Ive ever gotten. Highly recommend to anyone looking for authentic ramen, or a nice night out!
The Michi Ramen Bar had an amazing atmosphere and they served me the most amazing authentic Ramen I have ever had in my life!
I can’t speak highly enough for the food at Michi. My yellow curry ramen bowl was unreal. Wish I could eat here daily. The atmosphere is awesome and flavors are unique and delicious. Staff was wonderful. Would definitely recommend!
This was my first experience with actual ramen and this place did NOT disappoint. This is one of the best meals I have had in my life. The flavor was awesome. I can not state that enough. The portion was huge, no need to get the bigger one. Staff was nice and checked on us the right amount without being too scarce or too Involved. The music was crazy loud though so it was hard to have a decent conversation. I didnt care though because I was too busy in 7th heaven with this phenomenal meal. The picture isnt of a full bowl because I was too excited to dig in once I saw the delicious food in front of me. I cant wait to take others there!
The atmosphere here is nice and the vibe is pretty chill, but I will not say it is a ramen house. We waited for 25 minutes before the ramen was served, and to my dismay It was just noodle with overly spiced soup, not the kind of ramen with decent broth that I expected, and noodle came in a chunk…the wagyu was not bad though.
Today my friend asked me to lunch, what I thought was going to be "just lunch" turned out to be an amazing experience. Wade, our server, was pleasant and his charismatic charm filled the room with a refreshing vibe. Now to the food...I have not the perfect words for a such an amazing meal. Ill be back and you should come too!!!
Amazing raman, fun atmosphere, and a great staff! My first time visiting, my wife and I entered from Caras Park looking to try someplace new. The floor was full, so there was a short wait. We reviewed the menu, which had just enough items where everything looked tasty. A killer cocktail list as well. The decor and music (90s soul-hop, The Roots, Tribe called Quest, etcset the mood for a great experience. If you are looking for a quiet meal, this isnt the place. If youre looking for dinner to be a fun liveley night, youve found it! Food: Wife had Shio raman, I had the yellow curry raman, both were out if this world good.Drinks: Wife had Up in Smoke cocktail, delicious! I had a Bayern pilsner, obviously delicious.Service: Zahra was super helpful, gave great recommendations, and just plain fun. Well definitely be back, maybe for their happy hour (9-close sun-thurs)
The Michi Ramen Bar!!!! Oh my goodness they never fail! Great drinks! Fabulous Appetizers! Amazing Ramen! So good and its such a treat!
Amazing place! Had the yellow curry ramen, tantanmen ramen, and the chicken katsu ramen! Really good broths and home made noodles! Great sake options and amazing service! Super cute atmosphere, its a do not miss!
12/20/2020: Overall I liked this place. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen and found it confusing. There was a lot going on in that dish. Lots of sesame seeds. The noodles were a little overcooked. The broth was full of flavor however, the chasu was more like a BBQ brisket which imparted a sort of smokey charred flavor. It didnt go very well with the sesame garlic broth in my opinion. The egg was cooked perfectly! Gooey center, unfortunately, there was a slight vinegar flavor that left an interesting after taste. There were several great flavors in this bowl, however, it was overwhelming when combined and I found it difficult to figure out a distinct flavor profile.I look forward to trying another bowl. The staff was friendly and attentive.
WOW! Started with amazing service and the ramen was the true chef’s kiss. Pictured are the Shio and yellow curry ramen. The yellow curry was the best ramen I have ever had and ask for chili sauce on the side. Great music, ambience and drink selection. Gotta go here!
Downtown Missoula is open for business and we decided to try Michi Ramen Bar for dinner. Like stepping into a small Brooklyn eatery right here in Missoula. Great craft cocktails and a good beer selection. Had a cucumber salad plus Sweet and Spicy Edamame. Both were good but the sauce from the Edamame on the cucumber salad made it better. Ordered the Michi Ramen but they were out of pork and it was still very good with chicken. Also had the Bulgogu bowl and it was great. Overall, Id visit Michi again just to experience more of their food and cocktail selections.
Missoulas big city ramen experience just not quite big city. Great atmosphere once inside. Service is decent, but wait staff has to many tables to serve. The food was very good. Takes a while to get but worth the wait. Check this upbeat place out for your next date night!
A perfect ramen bar. Ramen tastes refreshing and authentic. Mochi was super tasty and beautifully plated. Atmosphere was great, except the music didnt exactly fit with the way the rest of the restaurant made me feel. Either way, great food and drink.
The service, drinks and food were phenomenal! Nicole was our bartender and she was on the ball! She whipped up a delicious Old Fashioned and brewed up lovely Green tea. The appetizers were so ONO!! LOVED THE MUSHROOMS AND MEATBALLS! Nicoles suggestion of The Korean Kalbi inspired meatballs were extremely tasty. We tried 3 different Ramen bowls and each had its own delicious flare. We had the Tantanmen, Bulgogi and Kotteri ramen. Loved the decor and ambiance of this sister restaurant to Saketome. Would love to meet the owner sometime as I truly like how the 2 restaurants are separate from one another but you dont have to go far to enjoy either raw fish or noodles.
Husband and I came in for lunch on a Monday. Bar tender/server was great and attentive despite being unusually slammed. The ramen is unique and super flavorful and delicious. A cool space!
I went downstairs to the Michi noodle bar. It was such a great artsy atmosphere down there. The music was pumping. They definitely got you reved up to have some drinks and a night on the town....but first fill up on some tasty noodle bowls.👍 I had the curry one which I thought was really tasty. Some of the others I tried were basic kind of bland but you can add some flavor with their home made chili paste. I thought it had a good kick of heat with a great blend of flavors. I liked this place a lot and would love to take a few friends back to try it out. The only down side I thought was 16 bucks for mostly noodles seems a bit much. I guess Im spoiled by Portlands amazing noodle places where you can pay half of that and get lots of meat or veggies. Still if you have been its worth a stop.👍P.S. I would love to know who the artist is on the murals and such. Very very happily lost in the design, I was.🙂
Loved the ramen there. They have several different varieties in a fun relaxed atmosphere. They have a "sumo" sized ramen, but the regular size was plenty satisfying. The restaurant itself looked really nice, but wasnt cheesy. Perfect for a casual night out. The plum wine and oyster mushroom appetizer tasted great too. The mochi was very tasty, but a bit expensive for the portion we got. Ill definitely be back here again soon :)Also, all of the bad reviews Im seeing are related to the "vegetarian options." Ramen is not traditionally vegetarian so thats hardly surprising. Most traditional Japanese food is flavored with dashi, a salty fish and seaweed broth. If you go to Japan and ask for a "vegetarian dish" you will more than likely be served something that has some kind of fish byproduct or even straight up grilled fish. It happened on multiple occasions to a several different friends of mine while we were living in Japan. Their definition of vegetarian is more what we would call pescatarian. My point is that a true vegetarian main dish is VERY uncommon in Japan, so I applaud the crew here for experimenting to find/create something for our local vegetarians. Just give them a bit of slack as they try to create something new and cool. Im sure that eventually they will settle on a better recipe.
Fresh, flavorful, Asian cuisine done RIGHT! Super hip spot, cool staff, cool music, accessible from Caras Park and Front Street. Less stairs at the Caras entrance. Ask for Sadie shes the best!
Best Ramen in Missoula, and my hubby has sampled many. Shrimp pork meatballs were lovely as well. They serve housemade sirracha which is very flavorful but not burn off your face hot. Recommended.
