Fine Mexican cuisine plus tequila shots and cocktails in smart, scarlet space.
Excellent tacos and felt very authentically Mexican! £16 each for this very generously portioned sharing platter was a good deal and the staff were very helpful and attentive, bringing us more tortillas when needed. I will definitely be returning!
This place is amazing. Im from Texas, but living in Southern England and this is the first place Ive found in England with Tamales. The food was great, the service was great and the menu was vast. If I didnt live in the South of England, Id be there every day. Ill be checking out the store as soon as possible. Thank you Mestizo for the hospitality and wonderful food. Cant wait to come back and see you soon.
Lovely place to eat! Has a nice welcoming vibe to the place.Waiters were generous with the tortillas and food was not too spicy.Enjoyed our starter and main meal which did not take too long to arrive. Taste was perfect 🤩.Definitely worth visiting more than once.I suggest not to sit at the high table next to the bar though, it’s right next to the toilet ❌
Stopped in for some dinner and drinks on our first night in London. The food and drinks were pretty tasty. We had the Don Julio tequila flights which came with lime juice and sangrita roja, and a Luces De Acapulco. For dinner we had the Pollo Arriero and Bistek Tacos, which were both pretty good as well. My only complaint is the wait time for our ticket, but we definitely would return.
Authentic Mexican restaurant offering a unique experience, delicious food and a friendly environment. We went there for Mexican Independence day and it was my first encounter with authentic Mexican culture and cuisine. The Mariachi were full of energy and the margaritas very tasty. I will definitely go back! Some of the Mexican delicacies like Mole I could only find here. They also own a club, which is next to the restaurant. Perhaps the only improvement that I would suggest is to let diners in the club from the stairs rather than having to queue outside of the club. I havent been to the club so cant comment on it but will try it next time (depending on how long the queue is).
I am not Mexican but did hear comment on the authenticity of this Mexican restaurant.Cocktails are good but slightly overpriced. Two different taco flavours I have tried(and recommended by the serverwere mediocre in my opinion, the meat was both dry and overcooked.Price was over £30pp with one drink for each of us.
Best Mexican food in London! Go here very regularly, love the food because it tastes super fresh & flavoursome with authentic ingredients. The drinks are also AMAZING! Best selection and the Mezcal Margarita is a MUST TRY.The female owner is a bit pushy & doesnt always have the best customer service, but everyone else including her husband is great.
I went with my boyfriend and he enjoyed a lot his birthday!!! Mestizo restaurant make special his day and he said the best part of this birthday was the birthday Mexican song 🤣🤣🤣 please, check the photos he was really happy 🥳🥳🥳
Excellent Mexican restaurant.Food delicious and a vast choice on the menu, margaritas divine and service very good. The waiters were great and the hostess was really accommodating and pleasant. We will be visiting regularly 😀
WOW! We are from Oklahoma in the USA and Mexican food is a staple for us. We have never found any great Mexican food outside the US until we tried Mestizo. We could not fault the food or margaritas in any way and the service was excellent in a packed restaurant on a Wednesday night! Nachos, salsa selection, enchiladas and tacos were delicious! We loved it so much we went to eat at their sister restaurant in Chelsea a couple of nights later!
First time I went here together my husband. All we had was really nice. The waitress / waiter were lovely. A little bit pricey but its London 😊
The most authentic Mexican restaurant in London. The food is simply amazing. Must book in advance because its always full.
Amazing food and lovely staff! We felt very welcomed straight away on our visit at the weekend. We were served quick with good recommendations from a couple members of staff. Highly recommend the taco tray. There was also a a good atmosphere in the place. It was a bit more expensive than I expected but I put this down to being in London and in the end, it was worth it.
Very cosy and special place with absolutely delightful cocktails!I enjoyed starters, though the mains were not too impressive. The staff is very friendly and was kind to even explain to us the traditional way to eat and mix the soup.Would definitely go again!
The best Mexican food I have found in London. - period. The place is quite crowded and loud, and the food presentation is unpretentious. However, the food is authentic with genuine flavours, and a large menu. I recommend getting the taco tray (minimum 2 peopleto try different fillings and flavours. Pair it with a jug of margarita!
Really enjoyed our meal here. The tortilla soup in particular was excellent. I loved that it has a big vegan menu…but the I wish the enchiladas de mole had been filled with something a bit more exciting than boiled cauliflower and peas? The mole sauce was amazing though! I will definitely be back but please consider making the vegan options a bit more interesting! The service was also great.
Super welcoming staff. However the food was too salty, enchiladas were soggy… empenadas had nothing special.
Great fresh Mexcian food and delicious churros. Atmosphere is authentic and warm just like Mexico (I hope to go one day😭the only downside is the high prices oh well.
Amazing buffet brunch on Sunday: traditional Mexican food (stews of beef, pork, chicken, meatballs, veg options, rice, beans, and tamalesplus tacos made to order. Everything was delicious. The best Mexican I’ve found in London, and I’ve tried a lot. Most people here are Spanish speakers - I don’t know accents well enough to identify if they’re Mexican! But I’d hazard a guess.Forgot to check the price before ordering but I don’t care what it ends up being. Sublime.
Best Mexican food in London. What a special place. Please make sure you book and get yourself ready to what will surely be a great time. Fab service and the food is top notch. Excellent drinks list and felt like I was in mexico ! 🇲🇽
Pleasantly surprised to find this gem so far from Texas. Glad to find Mexican cuisine in London to make us feel like we were home.
We went to celebrate my friends 40th Birthday on Sunday for the buffet and was really good, they have tamales, few dishes, corn Tortillas and downstairs they have tacos, my friends really enjoyed everything. Something that I was surprised is that they have Mariachi, so they sing "Las mañanitas" and few more songs, so I was really excited and happy that I book there. Also I must say, is the excellent service that everyone provided, thank you again for everything.
Very good!I’ve enjoyed my evening in Mestizo!Comfortable food, nice drinks and atmosphere 😊Easy going place, very friendly staff and super honest prices 🇲🇽Is a must try 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Best Mexican food in town. Lovely experience with excellent service. Largest range of tequila.
Very good Mexican restaurant, the food is very good, an authentic taste of Mexico. Service is friendly and fast. We had some cocktails, from a huge number available. For the main course we had tachos, with a great many fillings, all where full of favour. We shall be back to Mestizo very soon.
BLUF: Very good, but not great. Probably the best Mexican food youll find in the UK.For a bit of context, I grew up in Texas and have traveled (and eatenextensively in Mexico and the SW US. I am also keenly aware of the difference between Mexican regional cuisine and Tex-Mex. Anyway, on to the review.Next-Level Tier: People-watching. Seriously, watching/eavesdropping on English people trying to navigate (and pronouncean extensive Mexican menu was far funnier than I expected and will bring a smile to my face for years to come.Excellent Tier, rivaling the best Ive had in Mexico:-Frozen margarita-Corn tortillas-Tres Leches cake: At least as good as the tres leches made by my high school ex-girlfriends abuela.-Value: Excellent for London. I ate enough for 1.75 people (including two drinksand the total came to about 30gbp.-Service: Efficient and friendly.Good, but a Bit Off Tier:-Horchata was watery-Tamales were mealy and light on filling--to the point where I feel I cant adequately assess the mole supposedly contained within-Tinga had good texture and flavor on the chicken but the sauce was missing that long-stewed, sticky quality I expect. Felt more like tender chicken served in heated canned tomatoes. This was almost made up for by the outstanding corn tortillas. Also, I think without a side of raw onion and/or cilantro the tacos were missing just a little "something."This will definitely scratch the itch and I recommend it for that, but I can best describe it as very good--but a bit off.
Very disappointed. Had high hopes as everyone in the reviews hyped it up. However, the mains were bland, and just really nasty and the taco meat was very chewy. The mocktail we had was okayish, not very impressive at all. The atmosphere was decent, but that is the only decent thing about this restaurant. We payed £66 for 2 people, which was not worth it at all. We took the loss on this one. I will not recommend this to anyone. Very bad.
One of the worst experiences I have had in all my years in London. Not even worth 1 star. Food was cold, dry, meat was leathery and the salsa was so watery. On top of this the male staff are quite rude, impatient and didn’t understand our requests. Highly recommend avoiding this place at all costs.
We really enjoyed our meal here! Food was lovely as were the staff. For those reviews saying it was “lacking flavour” I think perhaps they may be used to the non authentic Tex-Mex style. This however was really authentic flavours that were more grounded and earthy. The mole sauce on our mains was absolutely delicious! And our starters were equally tasty. The Tres Leches dessert is definitely one of the nicest I’ve tried around! On top of that the majority (if not allof the staff are Mexican so you do get a real sense of authenticity. The vibe is pretty casual, nothing fancy - The food is the main focus here and we will for sure be back! A special shout-out to our lovely, attentive waiter Ricardo!
Had an amazing valentines spent at mestizo. Our booking was extremely last minute as we left upset from the first restaurant we booked at around the corner. From we entered mestizo we were greeted with great service. Food came extremely quick and was delicious! To top off the night we were given a free tequila shot. Would definitely return!
It was amazing! Loved it, the food is sooooooo tasty! A bit pricey but hey considering we are in London, not bad. Also they are super nice
The taco meats were a little dry especially the al pastor. Tamale was bland. Some of the authentic flavors were missing in the meats and they need more authentic chile sauce
Very friendly and welcoming real Mexican vibe and true flavours! Delicious tamales and vegetarian options. Great for unlimited brunch for 2 h with tacos, quesadillas, sopas, aguas frescas, cafe y torta. Also with fantastic mariachis! The only reason for only 4 stairs is that the stuff were not wearing masks properly and we all got an upset stomach after brunch
Good food, service and atmosphere. Chicken was slightly chewy but other than that everything was delicious.
Im in 7th heaven! Im having the real deal Mexican food in London, hands down! Pollo pibil taco is generously loaded with chunks of chicken that is juicy and with the right balance of strong flavors. The tortillas are really good! I had a very refreshing tamarind juice - i love the slight sourness of it. The crepas de huitlacoche is definitely the best I had. It is a Mexican speciality known as Mexican truffles made of thin crepe pancakes filled with black corn mushrooms, sauteed with onion, garlic, button mushrooms, serrano chile and sweet corn in a special white cheese sauce! And to culminate, i tried their Pastel de queso y coco bañado en salsa de mango!
I really enjoy the food and the cocktails here. The jalapeño margaritas and the cebollitas are amazing. Do always feel as though were an inconvenience or being rushed service wise though. If that element was better this place would be a 5*.
Ok well it’s authentic and starter we had was really good and great portion size and the taco sharing platter was nice and good flavours but reason for low rating is the main sharer was expensive for what it is and portion size was really bad value and most of it was the presentation which does not help when you are hungry. Will go again but stick to mains as the sharing menu is confusing. Also parking is difficult In the area.
This is the finest and most authentic Mexican restaurant I have experienced in Europe. Unbelievably excellent, in fact, far exceeding my expectations.Their starters, margaritas and premium tequila (and Mexican beerselections are phenomenal - and are matched only by their gracious hospitality and outstanding service. If you need a delightful taste of authentic Mexican food, Mestizo will most definitely satisfy your cravings.Make sure to visit their adjacent store as well for a great and rare selection of ingredients for home cooked Taco Tuesday!!12 on a scale of 10…. ¡Ándale!
I was expecting more of this place, food was a bit plain and flavourless but expensive. The cocktails were better than food and the service just fine.
A very filling, authentic Mexican meal. So difficult to find traditional Mexican in London. Very glad to have experienced these flavors and lots of vegetarian options. They were able to meet my dietary restrictions. Ricardo provided impeccable service.
We liked the decor and service. For is of good quality and felt very much Mexican. Refreshing compared to the chain restaurants. One less star because they charged for an item we never ordered.
I usually dont give lower marks, but this place deserved it. I have no idea how they managed to get 4 star. The food is extremely tasteless, you can barely taste the salt and pepper. I gave 2 stars because of the drinks, cocktails were good. The service was so strange as well. There was no organization. Every time a different waitress would come. Our food finally came after an hour and it was wrong. They went again and come back with the food. We ordered starters but the main came first. Nobody ever asked how was our food or if we were enjoying it. Even though they caused a massive delay and gave the wrong order, no apology. We paid £72 for 2 people, it was a joke, we didnt even finish the food it was that bad. After we paid, they were done with us, nobody said goodbye or opened the door for us. If you expect an authentic Mexican place, do not go there. Seriously, any chain Mexican place would be more authentic. Very disappointed as it was my birthday dinner
Excellent nachos, chicken tinga and salsas! Mestizo is a great spot and we had such a fun & friendly server to boot, what a nice guy. This place has an excellent tequila selection and a big menu to choose from. We had the: chips + 5 salsas all very well prepared and widely varied in ingredients and flavors; the chicken tinga tacos were great, very moist shredded chicken you could tell they cooked nice and slow; and a custom order you have to try and they were happy to accomodate our request, the chicken nachos, but with queso fundido instead of their standard shredded cheese - deeeelish! Plus we loved their margys too. Go!
What a gem of a place. The staff are very attentive and friendly. We really enjoyed the food where flavours were pretty authentic and delicious. We had tamales to start, then tacos and mole. The selection of margaritas was amazing, we tried the Mother margarita, watermelon, cucumber, classic and also the Mezcal Margarita. They were all exceptional. To finish, we also had flights of mezcal, if smokey/peat is to your taste, they were great too.Next to the restaurant, they also have a supermarket with Mexican ingredients, which is a lovely touch.Overall, we would definitely go back again to try different items from their food and drink menu.
I visited London last weekend and my best friend took me to this amazing Mexican restaurant, I have had the chance to visit many places in other cities out of Mexico and Mestizo restaurant in London is one of my favourites now. The Mexican brunch is a great option for discovering more about the Mexican cuisine, you have the opportunity to taste a lot of Mexican dishes as birria, pozole, menudo, and vegetarian option without skipping the famous tacos and quesadillas where you have a variety of flavours that make you feel like your back in Mexico again. The atmosphere was incredible I have never seen a place with such a long queue before opening like at Mestizo, however you don’t need to worry because the staffs are excellent and the service is second to none, I was completely and pleasantly surprised by the arrival of the Mariachi band, the gave me goosebumps. Now I understand why Mestizo restaurant is one of the best Mexican restaurants in London. If you have a chance and you want to try authentic and delicious Mexican food put this place at the top of your itinerary of places to visit in London and also don’t forget to visit the famous Mestizo market next door which has a wide range of Mexican products.
Delicious Mexican food. A bit loud inside the restaurant so not ideal to talk and service was ok (not outstanding). It’s though offers amazing food for a decent price!
This is definitely one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in all of London. And a worthwhile night out whenever my partner and I get the chance. The appetizers and small plates are next level and generously proportioned, the deserts are great, and the drink/cocktail menu really has some bangers and also has an ample non-alcoholic section as well. The service is really really tremendous--I feel like in both my trips here, the staff was in a consistent rotation to greet us, check if we needed anything, and recommend dishes---even when the place is full, as it deserves to be.
Definitely the best Mexican restaurant in London! The food is absolutely delicious, everything is so full of taste. Each bite is a burst of flavours!I ordered the Enchiladas Rojas, and they were exquisite. The Frijoles Refritos that accompanied the enchiladas were perhaps the best thing I have ever eaten in my entire life! The staff is extremely kind and accommodating, the restaurant in itself is quite big and the decoration is very nice.I highly recommend this restaurant, and when you go there, don’t forget to check their Mexican Market right next to the it!
Great atmosphere. Authentic Mexican food. Charming staff. What more could you ask for? This is the first good Mexican restaurant I have found in the UK, since moving back here from California a couple of years ago…and we have tried quite a few. The flautas were exactly as they should be, the loaded nachos were FANTASTIC, and they recommended a shared “build your own tacos” dish that we all had which, while my taco building skills may not be up to scratch from an aesthetic point of view, they tasted delicious as the meats and other ingredients were all perfectly mixed and prepared. We had several pitchers of frozen margarita too…which sjyou’ll be too if everyone’s list to try there.
The ambiance, flavors, staff and food are amazing. It is one of the best mexican joints in London. Youll pay a decent amount, but you wont leave hungry or disappointed. Stop by the market next door! Reservations recommended, it was super busy even near closing time on Tuesday.
