Unassuming stop offering traditional Ethiopian dishes including stews eaten with injera bread.
Such incredible cuisine 🌟 Profound flavours and luscious textures. I hadn’t tried Ethiopian food before and I’ve been MISSING OUT 🔥 Light yet complex, fresh with heat and spice - the stews are gorgeous and you scoop them up with my new favourite thing: injera - the flexible, light, sourdough pancake. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the prices are so reasonable. Get involved 💃🏻
Had the most amazing meal at Mesi’s kitchen. Easily the best Ethiopian food I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and Mesi welcomes you in. I loved how they played traditional Ethiopian music. The food is outstanding, and flavoursome which enormous portions and amazing value for money. Mesi’s Kitchen- I will be back soon, and if you haven’t tried it yet… RUN don’t walk!
So good, every time! Lovely service and so many tasty options - love it here.
Amazing warm welcome from the start, DELICIOUS FOOD! Definitely our new fav Ethiopian spot. We got exactly what we wanted and it was yummier than we expected! The lady that looked after the diners was friendly and warm.
Lovely restaurant, Mesi is a great cook and hoast..come here and be made welcome with some gorgeous Ethiopian food!

We all had an amazing time! Starting with the great food, with big portions, tasty and healthy. The staff was super lovely and the atmosphere was comfy. Highly recommended!
Great food!! Delicious currys - had the mesi platter ❤️ great selection!
I have come to Mesis kitchen a few times now because the food is so delicious and tasty! Great service, friendly staff and reasonably priced food. Cant recommend enough!
First time trying Ethiopian food and I loved it. Nice atmosphere. Quiet during dinner.
The mixed platter was excellent! Mesi herself is so warm & full of life. I went twice in a week because I loved it so much & she treated me like a family member. Couldn’t recommend her food enough!
This was my first experience of Ethiopian food and everything was absolutely delicious. We wanted to try something new and so glad we tried Mesis Kitchen. The staff were super friendly and the restaurant has a really welcoming vibe that you get in small local restaurants. The food was excellent - we got the Mesi Combo and all the different items were amazing. We left feeling thoroughly satisfied and at the same time wanting more.I totally recommend!
The food and service was absolutely amazing. The fantastic beer was a bonus too.
Went with vegetarians and meat eaters. Everyone was really happy with their dishes. The food was delicious and Mesi is the kindest - made us feel so welcome and like family. Definitely recommend! The honey wine was also delicious!!
The meat combo is delicious and massive. Staff is super kind and attentive
This is an authentic taste of Ethiopia. Since my trip tp Ethiopia in 2018 Ive been missing the wonderful taste of a home cooked meal. I adore the healthy option and delicate spices. Mesi kitchen is very local to me and Ive ordering takeaway and enjoying the pleasure of eating in there beautiful restaurant. I would totally recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to try Ethiopia vegan plateau or try a meat option. Both are super delicious!!!
Wonderful restaurant. Wonderful food. Ive never eaten Ethiopian food, but I will certainly be back and has opened my eyes to African cuisines that I never will have tried
We had the most divine dinner at Mesis this evening after completing an Escape Room at Breakin Escape Rooms just down the road! Every single person in our family of four (2 adults; 2 kids aged 12 and 14with various dietary needs (1 gluten free, one vegetarian, 1 who cant tolerate spicy foodhad amazing meals. We ordered a meat combo for 2 and a veggie combo for 2 and the food was plentiful, delicious, and presented beautifully. I was so excited to be able to have Teff injera which is gluten free to complete the experience. Mesi is a warm and friendly hostess and her restaurant is clean and festive. We cannot say enough about what a wonderful experience it was. Thank you Mesi for feeding us well! We will definitely be back.
Wonderful food, wonderful service and great value - came tonight in a group of three and will absolutely be back. Couldnt recommend more!
The food at this restaurant was so so good that it broke my heart that I was too full to finish it all! I hadnt had Ethiopian food for a while, and Im so glad we chose to eat at Mesis! We had the mixed veggie/non-veggie combo for 2 and everything was delicious! I cant wait to eat there again!
Our first time trying Ethiopian cuisine. The food was lovely. Everyone was so polite and patient with us. Definitely will revisit. Thank you and God bless you. X
Definitely an amazing food experience, went to this wonderful place with friends that never tried Ethiopian food and we had a blast. I warm heartedly recommend the platters as you get to try a large variety of different goodies and you get to share them with people close to you. I always enjoy Ethiopian food because it is a tactile experience and it reminds us that sharing is caring. The staff was very friendly and helpful and made our stay a nice experience. Beers were nice to try and this is an amazing place to bring vegan, vegetarians and meat eaters alike together to try foods.
We had 7 people with us this evening from all over the UK, EU, and US. We had the meat combo platter for everyone, followed by the coffee service and tea. The atmosphere was extremely warm and welcoming, the proprietor was wonderful, and everyone loved the experience. The food was phenomenal! Following the meal, the folks that had coffee said it was the best coffee theyd ever had, and the spiced etheopian tea was just as fantastic.Thank you so much for everything!
Absolutely brilliant. This is a genuine business run by an owner that cares. Indeed, Mesi is a charming and kind young lady.Food is freshly made, portions are generous as well as the pricing. Much recommended!
My husband and I came here for a night out together and it was excellent! There is such a pleasant aroma coming from the kitchen as soon as you step through the doors. We were greeted with a warm smile and were quickly seated for our dinner. We ordered the Mesi platter for two - a great choice if you arent sure exactly what you want, all of it was delicious. If you are a vegetarian then the vegetarian combo platter is a great choice as well. We will definitely be returning here soon.
Delicious freshly made food! Would highly recommend! Great traditional Ethiopian vegetarian options, homely feel and the most lovely and welcoming service! :thank you! Will definitely be returning soon!
We visited last Saturday to eat, prior to attending an event close by, and Im so pleased we did! Our first experience of Ethiopean food and hospitality and our experience surpassed expectations. We were warmly welcomed and chose a vegetarian platter to share between us.The food was beautifully presented, varied and tasty - we loved everything! The quantity was generous but we were offered more if we wished. We dont live in London, but have vowed to allow time to visit again next time were in London.
I’ve been here a number of times and I absolutely love it. I had the injera with vegetarian and vegan additions, which was delicious. Big portions and I’d definitely recommend trying the Ethiopian beer. Super friendly staff. Can’t wait to go back again soon.
very good and authentic Ethiopian Restaurant. We decided to pay a visit to Mesis Kitchen 2 weeks ago while on a trip to London. Its located a few tube stops out of Central London but worth the tripWe took a combination platter of meat and vegetarian dishes. Everything was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Ive been to quite a lot of Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurants in Germany, London and Belgium and this one definitely meets the standard! The owner (who I think was Mesi herselfthat night was absolutely lovely and very welcoming! She really went out of her way to make our dining experience a great one!Needless to say, I will strongly recommend this hidden gem in London!
Great, authentic Ethiopian food. Excellent food selection, try Ethiopian beer. Overall fantastic experience.
Excellent Ethiopian food. We ordered a vegetarian platter and it was very tasty. The waiter/manager was very nice and the service was excellent.
Such a great place. First timer with Ethiopian food and Will definitely come back. Service was also great and the owner, Mesi, was there making sure everything worked perfectly.
This was my second visit, and I was so surprised how much they have reduced the portion sizes! My first visit was in November 2021, so only couple of months ago. Both times I had the vegan combo, and both times the food has been deliciously made, and the customer service very friendly. But in my second visit now in March, the portions of the stews top of the injera were reduced to half of that what I had in November, still with the same price, and were not properly warm when they came out of the kitchen. In November the portions were generous and I was very happy and satisfied but in this second visit I was hugely disappointed of those tiny portions and left hungry.Given how much they have reduced the portions, it is not worth of the price anymore, since I paid here almost 17 pounds as they add the service charge, whereas in many other Ethiopian restaurants you can get much more substantive and generous vegan combo for 10 pounds. However, the restaurant itself is pleasant, and people there are friendly.
Really lovely place and wonderful friendly service! Tasty, authentic, affordable and delicious Ethiopian food. The service and host is lovely and really made our visit enjoyable. Ill come back many times with friends for sure
Absolutely wonderful! We had the Mesi Combo for two with chicken and lamb, and every single bite was delicious. The staff could not have been nicer and we will definitely be back over and over
Lovely place in Holloway Road.I visited for the first time this week after been living for many years in the area (not sure why I never did before- shame on me!)The decor is lovely, art pieces hanging from the wall, you can feel it is a place looked after with care and love. The food was ok. The started salad was a bit of disappointment as I couldn’t taste any spices on it but it was crunchy and refreshing, accompanied by warm pita bread. As main course we shared the veggie and vegan selection for 2 (around £28.00)- it was lovely, deep flavour with lots of spices and very filling- the Ethiopian beer was good.I will definitely come back and next time I won’t miss the coffee!
Delicious food and friendly service. Very filling! The combo platter was so good.
I took my mother here who is Ethiopian and the entire experience felt like home to us. The food was freshly prepared, the proprietor was the most welcoming and the atmosphere was reminiscent of Ethiopia itself. We shared a platter and two sambusa starters between 3 people and it was the most excellent. Only thing we didn’t have was the coffee but I would recommend anything on the menu.
myself and a friend went for dinner, when we arrived we were greeted with such a warm welcome smile and then seated. we both ordered a mix so we can try everything. the food was lovely, so healthy and wholesome. it was fairly priced and we did not have to wait too long for our order. lovely place!
Just had a an amazing meal at Mesi’s kitchen. Delicious food, friendly staff who went above and beyond to explain the menu, great atmosphere. Will definitely be going again.
I absolutely adore this place. Banging food, great service and the Ethiopian beer is unreal. I can’t recommend the platter more with the injera. I love taking people who have never tried Ethiopian food so I can see their reaction. I try to go as often as possible and the people who run it are absolutely amazing.
One of the best Ethiopian meals Ive had. Tasty food and friendly service.
Awesome food and friendly service. Would highly recommend. We enjoyed trying Ethiopian food for the first time here and would like to come back again soon. We shared a platter and it was a great way to try many different dishes.
So were both vegan and the options they had were awesome. We took a Vegan sharing plate at it came with ALL of the yum. We also had hummus and Azifa which is mashed lentils in the most amazing flavour.Staff were lovely and the space felt very welcoming but not at all showy. Just good food and good vibes basically.
Fabulous food and great atmosphere..the service was top notch as well. Went two nights in a row with family & friend (first time to test Ethiopian foodand both times were a wonderful experience with delicious food! The best Ethiopian restaurant around⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Combo meat platter for 2, plus gomen (collard greens). Just the right amount of spiciness for us. Our favourite was the lamb stew in the middle. Ordered with an Ethiopian beer, fresh mint tea and 2 cappuccinos. Cost was £42. Great value!
This place is a hidden gem! The owner is so nice and friendly. The food is also delicious, it tastes like home cooking. This is my second time here, but Ive only ever had the Mesi Combo (mix meat and vegetables- its only £25.95 for two people, which is really good considering the size and portion you get. I believe there is a meat only version of this dish and also a vegetarian one. The ambience is lovely, the toilet is clean, WiFi is fast and the food is also good! I think this is a good place for couples and big groups - I believe they do takeaways as well. The food is best eaten with your hands - Im unsure if utensils are provided, but Im sure they are if you ask for them! However, as the owner is also the only waitress of this restaurant, service can be a little slow, especially if it gets busy. I think that is the only downside - otherwise its all good.
Has a delightful and flavorful vegan meal here last night + Ethiopian beer which went very well with the meal. It was very filling and nice art on the walls. The service was very friendly. I would be delighted to go back. I need to practice eating without getting my hands messy.
This place is absolutely fabulous, a firm favourite since we moved to the area. See the photo for the Vegan sharing dish, it tastes as good as it looks. Its £23.95 for two and there is so much that it is difficult to finish despite the loveliness of the food, so good value. The Ethiopian wine is also excellent. Mesi, the host, is extremely welcoming and helpful. It is much better than any of the many other Ethiopian places we have eaten at in London, thoroughly recommended!
