Merrill's BBQ - Barbecue restaurant in Gadsden, United States
The first time I’ve tried this location was two years ago during early mid October or end of September when upon moving into the area. I must say we were impressed by the good quality and quantity of food this place serves. It reminds me of Whie Castle during the day when they would always have your food ready. The meat is tender and it’s mixed with pulled pork and brisket which looks to be a good combination. They also have coleslaw, baked beans, and potato salad which we normally order for our side orders at times. Once receiving our meal they give us wonder bread rolls to make our own sandwiches. Which I may say is quite interesting for us to give bread rolls like that to us. However I may want to point out is that if you were able to make a sandwich by putting coleslaw as the first topping then the meat and lastly putting the bbq sauce on top it’s okay. But once you have a side of baked beans. You can however feel your tastebuds a bit tired or bothered by doing so constantly, so it’s best to eat the coleslaw separately instead of putting it on the roll. Overall it is appetizing and this restaurant has been an privilege to buy food from
Used drive thru, great friendly server! Ordered the BBQ baked potato and it tasted really good. The serving size was a tad small for the price but compared to drive thru fast food this was a really big winner. Ill be going back.
Good fresh hot BBQ. Wish they had inside seating but it was great anywY.
Ordered the ribs today and was very disappointed. They were rubbery and very chewy. When trying to pull the meat off the bone is was an effort. :( This is the 2nd time ordering ribs and the first time was very similar experience. The mild sauce was just average, at best. That was $12 wasted.
Great food ,friendly employees , have always liked to eat here, Looking for great BBQ? Go to Merrills..
Best food in town great place to eat real good people work there
Friendly staff at the window. Food is great 👍
Love there bbq if you like hot they have a very good hot bbq the number 3 is great for a hot bbq
I go here just for the peach 🍑 cobbler if thats gone then my 2nd fav is strawberry 🍓 cobbler . EVERYTHING IS GREAT FRFR
Good eats. Decent prices.
The food is AMAZING once we got it. Service was very slow though. If you dont mind waiting a bit then its perfect.
A co worker and I went to Merrill’s on the way to a job and had the pork plate. The tangy sauce was a great compliment to the pork. The pork was very tender and well made. Awesome food if I’m ever driving through there again I’ll be back
It was ok, mine was a little cold but they where busy. Not my type of bbq but still good
The food was awesome and the staff was so friendly. One of the best prices Ive seen in a long time too. We had bbq ribs, pork sandwich and hamburger. The sides were great.
I just waited almost an hour for my order. Waited my whole lunch break for a rib plate and a pulled pork kids meal. I didnt even get my fries.
Good people, Great food you want be disappointed
This is by far the best BBQ in town! I have had the pork potato and burger so far! Cannot wait to try the rest of the menu
Good BBQ lunch! Waited in the drive through, 30 minutes after we paid for our order???Update 2 Feb 2022: mostly good food, time from order to your vehicle is still around 45-50 minutes. Not sure, if well return to business!
Mouth watering burgers and just right fries at a great price taste awesome.
Best BBQ ever ...so friendly and tasty. You must try it
Awesome food! Definitely where Ill be going to lunch from now on.
Drive thru is slow best to call ahead.food is good.
Stellar bbq place, specializes in to-go orders. Would absolutely come back, even if its out of my way.The good:Great prices, great ribs, creme corn, absolutely amazing collard greens. Cornbread like momma used to make, none of that sweet corn cake stuff - actual cornBREAD!The Meh:Potato salad I could take it or leave it, not bad. Smoked chicken sandwich is above average but nothing special. BBQ sauce is tangy and seems ketchup based, pretty standard. The bad:They definitely specialize in to go orders, the "dine in" situation is a bit small and leaves a bit to be desired.
They always have delicious food. Eat there often. Never had a complaint about anything. Friendly service also
The food was excellent they were friendly it was a little bit of a wait but totally worth it my order was hot and fresh and you get alot of food
Best burger in town hands down!! If you dont like to wait order ahead and skip the line.
Best BBQ Ive had in Gadsden and the people working there are always super friendly. All around great service.
This place has the best barbecue and the sauce is so good the owner Kim and the workers are very polite I will always give them a five stars and thumbs up
BBQ pork is nice and smoky flavored. BBQ is tangy and a tad salty but I liked it. Fries were good and crunchy. Large BBQ sandwich was huge. Prices are reasonable. Expect a slight wait because they are popular and this is not fast food BBQ.
I love their food, very clean, great service!! They treat you like family. I may can only give them 5 stars but they rate a 100 to me.I highly recommend them.
Best N Town & ℹ promise U want be made also for the Prices for the amount of food that comes with their orders U cant go wrong all I can say is just try it it speaks for itself!!!
The best food in town and the burgers are made just the way you like them fresh and delicious made when order so there fresh and hot. Love this place.
The tea was very good I think the sauce was good wasnt enough the meat could have been better all around three stars nothing bad good service nice women
Best BBQ restaurant Ive ever found. Cant help but eat here every day. Their #3 hot sauce on their pulled pork sandwiches are to die for!!
Out of salad for bbq salad, out of French fries, a large order of onion rings almost $5 only had 5 rings in order. Baked potato we got wasnt cooked all the way
The food is really good but if youre looking for an old fashioned Hamburger this is the place. The hamburgers are AWESOME!! They have the best Hamurgers in town. Great BBQ Salads too.
Best cheeseburger I gave ever eaten !! Meat patty is very thick, hard to eat just 1 at any sitting. Staff extremely nice. Prices are reasonable for the huge burger, foot long hot dog. I live.in a different city than the Merrills restaurant and happily make the drive there for their outstanding burgers, hot dogs. You can also fine in with stipulated guide covid guidelines. Will be going back next week. Food is consistently good..
They are just the best. When you want some good ribs just right they are the only restaurant i like it from. Since ive been out here im from boston massachusetts. And i have ordered from multiple places and i didnt like the ribs but here at merills they are the bomb. Com
If you use the drive thru the service sucks! 30 minutes or longer on the wait. The last brought the food to the window without asking if we needed anything, or apologizing for the lengthy wait. This is not my first time but may be my last. Each experience was horrid. I dont even know how they stay in business
Terrible! This is not real bbq. No smoke flavor, sauce tastes like it must be bought from a food supplier. Vegetables very bland. Extremely slow service. A waste of 37 dollars for us. Guess well stop again in an hour to eat on our way back to Ga.
Stopped when out of town to eat lunch with a friend who lives in this area. Everything our group I ordered was very very good! I had the veggie plate, huge chunk of cornbread, delicious turnip greens, etc. Hamburger was homemade and delicious. Loaded bbq tater was huge and very good as well. Will eat her again when in town!
Awesome quality southern food at an affordable price. I recommend a cheeseburger all-the-way, and you cant go wrong with their BBQ salads. Either will be sure to fill you up.
Great food and the family pack comes with a lb of meat, 8 buns, and sauce for $12 plus tax. You cant beat the price or quality and quantity of this great BBQ restaurant.
My favorite BBQ place in town. When I get BBQ I want a stuffed baked potato and not all of the BBQ joints around here offer them. Plus, it has a drive thru. The service is always relatively quick and the staff is super nice. You get a great deal for the price and I always end up splitting my food into two meals. There arent many other places you can get enough food for under ten bucks to have two meals. It tastes like food your dad would make on the grill or in the smoker. Ive never eaten inside so i cant speak on the interior of the place. But I personally wouldnt care if it was a shack, the food is so good it doesnt matter where you eat it, and thats saying something. If youre looking for good homemade BBQ and a bang for your buck, theres no better place in town.
Over crowded. Menu on wall was covered up by a customer who wouldnt move. Hardly a.parking spot to pull into. Food may have been really good, but wouldnt stay to find out. Whole small inside area was over crowded. Line was up to the door. Service was way too slow. Heard food was most excellent here, which is probably why it was so overrun. Plus we went at lunch time. Around 12noon.
My personal favorite BBQ other than my own. Very clean pulled pork with ample infusion of the natural wood blend for slow smoking. The meat from Merrills have a rich and robust taste. Most notable item on the menu is Merrills personal reciped sauces numbered one to four. Number three sauce is very flavored and its heat is one of the hottest sauces I have eaten. The number four sauce is a completely different mix of ingredients and peppers. Visually this sauce looks very hot and it is by far the hottest BBQ sauce I have ever tasted. Even though it is very hot it is still amount the most flavored sauces you will ever eat.
I got a vegetable plate, It was delicious and more than enough, the baked beans were exceptional, price was reasonable, only$5.50 for large plate. The service was good even though they were very busy. I will go back.Jan Guyton
We stopped in for pizza but after seeing the menu, we decided upon a couple a dinners. I had the Spaghetti with Marinara sauce and Meatballs and my wife had the Baked Ziti; both came with side salads. The salads came out quickly and were a very nice mix of greens and ripe plum tomatoes, red onions and croutons with tasty dressings. The dinners came out perhaps more quickly than they should; we were only half finished with the salads.
Very good food but the staff was loud and obnoxious and took forever to make the food. The drinks are all bottled and way over priced. No air conditioning for dine in service and small area to sit and hardly any parking.
Really good "southern comfort" food. Had their pork dinner plate and peach cobbler both of which were amazing! Portion sizes are perfect where I didnt have left overs!
