Mercado De Vegueta - Market in Agüimes, Spain
Nice vibe but be careful about the prices. There is no price tag in most stalls, they charge you higher if you are not local.
We parked at the parking lot across the road from the market which is packed with fresh produce etc. Worth a visit before exploring the surrounding area.
A massive disappointment, almost every stall is closed and the open ones have little to no food that you would expect on a proper Spanish market. For a nice market Cordoba or Madrid are a place to go
Scam! Stay away at least from the stalls without price tag! They are gonna charge you with ridiculous price. I got half of a mango and a dragon fruit for 11 euro.
Not really a tourist attraction !!! Maybe a great market !!!
Nondescript to some, but we enjoy going to places where only locals go. The market has some of the best tropical fruit outside of the tropics.
Had every we required and refreshingly clean and bright enviroment
Watch out for tourist traps. Ask for receipt and check prices.
Nice place
Great place for shopping
The best market in Las Palmas, theres fresh fish, the sweetest fruits and tasteful vegetables. If you want to by something to cook at home go there immediately. Lovely place to visit ❤️
I love this place in historic building and part of the town. So colourful and vibrant. Definitely worth a visit
Amazing fresh meat, fish, fruit vegetables, pastries and much more. Traditional Spanish Market.
A perfect market for locals but also for tourists
Prices looked quite high be we bought some fruits and they were good enough ;)
Great selection of fresh food, beautiful displays of fruit and veg. Interesting luxury goods and services. A very handy spotless toilet was available , but I can only judge the mens facility......
Incredible selection of local Gran Canarian specialties. Everything from coffee and wine to meat, cosmetics, fresh fish and fruit and vegetables. Also the shopowners are very friendly and have a great knowledge about their products. Definitely worth a visit!
Small but nice
Very interesting place. But be careful for those which do not present their prices. If you are here just haggle!
Great food market, especially the produce stalls. Fresh fish stalls and butchers stalls too.
Very good fish, a lot of fruits and local cheese
Nice place.
Nice market where youll get fresh fruits, meat and fish.
If you are looking for good produce and want to buy fresh fruit and veg big you have to visit this market
Proper old fashioned fresh food market where locals shop. Right next to Vegueta. Worth the visit
Nice place to take a walk and buy amazing fruits a local food. If you go in the morning, dont forget to take a coffee with churros just around the corner.
There is no market like this the energy location is perfect located in the oldest part of gran canaria. There are shops there today whos families use to have a cart in the plaza a 100 years ago . Its amazing ..love this place
Very beautiful market with fresh food and vegetables. We shop there for home cooking.
The market has everything you need, but it is not as cheap as one would think when seeing the name mercado. Take into consideration the parking, if you go by car. There is a big parking lot just in front of the market, for which you have to pay around 2 euros
Lovely market with amazing produce, local fish, meat and fruit and vegetables. Also an amazing health food stall. Great little market with a lovely atmosphere
Good little local markets although it was a Monday and most stores were closed. But here you can buy all the local cheese and fruits and the best churros in the cafeteria attached to it.
The oldest market in the Island. Good stock. Good prices. Fresh produce. Well worth the visit.
My first time to be at this market...nice fruits, exotic fruits and fresh fish..variety of things in a market located at the historical centre of the canary islands.
Some stalls are closed. I hope they will open again soon. It would be nice to place more food to eat shops!
This is the must place to go in Vegueta. Be there especially on thursday, at 19.00 pm when starts "La Ruta del pincho", you will get amaising food with all kinds of Spanish Pinchos and wine in very cheep price. Start from Calle Mendiza 24.
Interesting and colourful. A traditional market with atmosphere
Easy accesable, nice buildimg, very friendly local sellers, tasty fruit. Very clean toilets.
Great produce, fish and meats! Some stalls are touristic and pricier. Avoid those. You can also get Churros con Chocolate and fresh smoothies in the building.
Very fresh market with a lot of different local fruits, fish and meat.
Nice local market that is great to have in the neighborhood. After two visits you will be known by local vendors and get offered small free trails of different fruits or veggies. Nice environment but I would have to agree it is on the expensive side for many items. However this being said I would say that the quality is too notch and designed to be eaten asap. Great place to check out if you are in town.
Ridiculously expensive prices made especially to rip off unaware tourists. You also cannot convince them to sell for a smaller price, it is unnegotiatable. If you go there, google the price of mango and remember that it is NOT 16€/kilo. You can see the actual prices in stores and other markets.
Amazing historical marketplace. Fruit, vegetable, spices, cheese, fish and much more. Great place to visit.
Very nice, but very expensive. One mango for 7 EUR. Though it is probably the best mango i have ever had! And everything should be localy grown.
A nice market with large selection of tropical fruits available...more for the tourists than locals. Well worth a visit to see the wonderful colours.
I had read about this market online, and given that I very much enjoy trying new and different fruits we decided to pay the market a visit whilst we were in the area. The place was easy to find and we parked in the car park opposite. Lots of different things for sale, as would be expected in most markets - meat, fish, fruits, vegetables etc. I didnt buy anything except for fruit. We got offered quite a lot of samples but there was no pressure or hard sell from any of the vendors. We enjoyed the fruits that we bought and they were of good quality.
Beautiful set ups and friendly atmosphere but wayyy too overpriced. Basically a tourist trap grocery store. Definitely not where the locals come to buy their food. Cool for a quick walk through, just try not to buy anything.
Loads of totally awesome fresh fruit, vegetables, and fish etc. Go there!
Great variety and prices!
Fresh food of all kinds for good prices
.A perfect gem - Waitrose on steroids . . .A gem of a place to visit and take photos! You can combine it with a stroll all around the Vegueta area, seeing the Cathedral and some very attractive streets, making a lovely half day out.And extend it with a long lunch! This is the "mercado de abastos" - the produce market, and is a Listed Historic Building as well as an exciting place to visit.Custom-built as a market in the mid-19th century, it takes up a whole block. On the outside, leading off the pavement, there are bars, restaurants and little shops. Inside is the Market Hall with stalls jam-packed round the edge and in the middle.A riot of colour, pulsating with people.Opening hours are 6.30 - 14.00 Monday to Thursday, 6.30 - 15.00 Friday and Saturday. This is not a tourist market with trinkets and beach dresses, its where the Canarians come to do their daily shopping.Like Waitrose on steroids. You have never seen fruit like this. Its all enormous, brightly coloured. Avocados the size of melons - I thought that they WERE melons the first time I saw them. Vegetables. Fish - weird things from the Atlantic depths. And bustling full of people all morning. The sights, the sounds, the smells - like nothing else youll see on your holiday! There is a good-sized carpark near it, so you can come early, park your car, go and have breakfast in one of the bars, visit the Cathedral and the streets of Vegueta, come back and visit the market, then eat fresher-than-fresh food for lunch in one of the little restaurants.Aaaah! Lovely..
