Meng House in Amersham on the Hill

Third time we’ve visited the restaurant in the last three months. Every takeaway meal was prepared quickly and to a very high standard. Great menu choices. Try their squid. It must be the best anywhere

Food was delicious and priced well and the waiter was lovely. Definitely the best Chinese around!

I went in on Friday night...understandably busy and placed my takeaway order was told to take a seat as it was a 45 min wait...so far so good...I am a larger lady and there were two thin gentlemen also waiting for their orders...I was asked to go away and come back...the gentlemen were not...I came back at the appointed time to see two slender ladies waiting inside.. I was again asked to wait outside...whilst the service was polite it felt discriminatory and I was very upset by it.The food was as always excellent.

Catered for ym wifes brithday family meal. 12 of us. No problems whatsoever. Food was prompt, plentiful and delicious. Certainly going back again soon.

Great restaurant and takeaway. We have been having meals here for years and the standard is always excellent. I have thoroughly enjoyed all the food I have had and never been disappointed.

Great food nice waiters with huge bundas food came in under 20 minutes and meat cooked perfectly go here not to full moon. The writers were nice and friendly I told them about my allergies and they sorted it out straight away. I remember when it used to be a small little restaurant but now it’s turned into this.

Delicious food, weve used this restaurant for years and are glad to see they are keeping busy through the pandemic. Id recommend the spring rolls, and prawns with seasonal vegetables.

Brilliant service and wonderful food from this place! Been around for years, and Ron is very helpful. We couldn’t come inside to get a small order (super cautious because of COVID), so called from out front and Ron brought the card reader outside to let us pay, and always provides great customer service!

Called at 5.30pm wanting to pick up at 7.30pm. Plenty of time I think even on New Years Eve. Nope, I was told I could pick up from 8.20pm. A set menu for 2 should not take 3 hours to prepare! I experienced a total lack of flexibility, zero customer service and a couldn’t care less attitude from the guy on the phone. Been using this restaurant for 20 years. Quality of the food has been going downhill and this was the last straw. You lost me as a customer last night. Never again!

As a takeaway it has been well organised to maintain distancing. Food is great, as it always is!

1st visit ok food good but not cheap 2nd visit treated like some kind of pleb food poor prices not, hardly surprising the place 2as almost empty. never returned nor ever intend to.I would rather have a takeaway from Shangri la in Chesham, at least they welcome your business.

have been to Meng House with my family for dinner yesterday (8/2/20), absolute disaster. Service was atrocious, food was well below mediocre and highly overpriced. That’s one establishment I will not set my foot in again.

Very good food with some interesting twists on the usual classics. Service was excellent. Be aware that the restaurant does seem to get very busy so make sure you book a table.

Worst oriental food ever had. The noodles were too greasy and hardly any sauce in the chicken black brean sauce. Asked for out to be chilli hot. Was told trees no problem. Got home only to find out no chilli. Its safe to say wont be going there again.

Had set menu 2, and every meal was scrummy. Freshly made. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. And seeing the owners seated and also eating their own food gave us the reassurance that they were providing quality. Would definitely go back.

Reasonable Chinese meal or take away at reasonable prices. You would need to book at the weekends.

Decent Chinese food at a fair price. I’d definitely go here rather than anywhere else in the Amersham-Chesham area.Food can be slow as they are often quite busy, it takes them ages to pick up the phone and I’ve lost count of the amount of times they’ve gotten my name wrong (George? Jeff? Joss? Joe?). But I would recommend it above all the others without hesitation.

It says errr buffet eat as much as you like but the staff as your not allowed to eat as much as you like. Great cheers for that. Scoobyless. They said it’s self service, but it’s actually order of the menu.Never met staff so scoobyless

Typical chinese food done well - very tasty and helpful friendly staff

Would not swap the £8.35 chicken dish in a set menu for a cheaper £7.25 chicken alternative for my son. Thoroughly unimpressed we just ordered mains, noodles and rice. I am not about to go a la carte on a place that wont flex their menus even slightly and reward them for it. Ill just have less thanks. I am a customer in a restaurant not a kid at school - dont quote me rules especially when the swap is to a cheaper dish. So... £30 spent instead of the £70 or so we would easily have done on the set menus. Plain stupid inflexibility. Fortunately food wqs good so still 3 stars. But if you own this place thing about it... do you really care if someone swaps a dish for the bad feeling it causes?

Chinese food is very tasty with some great menu variation.King prawn dishes and seafood is superb.Takeaway can sometimes be a bit greasy.Wine selection is good too

The food actually tastes good compared to all of the other Chinese takeaways. Its not all greasy and the cost is fairly good. However, the service from certain people there can be quite bad, as on some days of the week there are different servers on their routers. I remember one of the people who I tried ordering from was fairly rude, he gave me the feeling of being unwelcomed. But mostly the server is a woman who is pretty kind. I really dont like how if you sit in the restaurant to eat, it is £10 per person. Especially being near the school Dr Challoners with the majority of pupils who have not started earning yet, that is extremely overpriced.
