Menengai Crater View Point - Tourist attraction in Naivasha, Kenya
Nice to visit at least once in a lifetime. Sheer panoramic views of the Caldera and area.
Very nice view on crater and geothermal plants. Local tour with a guide highly recommended, around 1k to 2k ksh.
You love moderate hiking?then get your boots coz the weather its friendly...menengai crater view🥰..#outdoorsafari
Awesome place to visit
Perfect view, nice caves which were used by the maumau when they were fighting for freedom
if ur planning for hiking come and join.we are starting our hiki around 11.00 am
Its a cool place but the toor guides are too expensive and sale a lot of lies about insecurity for you to be convinced to go with them other wise its a cool place to have a Walk I enjoyed it
If you like nature, must to go there when you visit Nakuru or Nairobi
The place is so cool, its fun to be there
Road from the main highway is just gravel road, foreigners pay about Ks700/pax and locals Ks250/pax to enter the viewing point. Nice view of the caldera!
Menengai creator was one of the best views Ive ever had, good cliffs and escarpments it was indeed awesome..
The place give an awesome view to the landscape of Nakuru and its surrounding communities. Its helps you to appreciate nature and the ecosystems in the African continent by
Nice place for a hike, awesome view and also naturally therapeutic.
A beautiful spot with beautiful views. Theres refreshments on sale at the top. It can get extremely windy and chilly in the morning. My advise, take the route that passes through the forest.
Great views of the Menengai crater from here. One can see flatness of the rift valley and even Lake Solai to the North.Curio shops and General shops available here. The Road to the viewpoint is graded murram road for around 5KM.Entrance fee of KES 288 PP charged at the gate.On the downside, the washrooms at the viewpoint needs some good maintenance and daily cleaning
The volcanic stones are very, very light compared to the other rocks we are used to in other places.Souvenirs are highly priced though.
Its a geographical site showing the caldera in Menengai. Lots to learn. Cheap souvenirs and friendly people
Awesome hike with a tough steep at the end
Very niceLike the people who work there
Good hike experience and different from the standard accent then decent approach of hiking on hills/ ranges and mountains. For experienced hikers the transverse will be enjoyable. Not so challenging in terms of elevation gain but can be quite long (30km plus).
Fantastic view over the menengai crater and the everything north of Nakuru. Daytime youll be having about 10 smaller stores open here selling probably beverage and snacks. At about 18:50 and after youll have the whole viewpoint for yourself.
It would be nice for the Kenya Forest Service and the county to come up with more activities that one can do while visiting here...like ziplining, paragliding etc
A must visit in the area. The views from the ridge into the crater are insane! Roads up to summit were easy by car but caveat, we were in the dry season. The caves are also well worth visiting, especially to meet with people making pilgrimage.
The view is amazing from up there and luckily vehicles can go upto the top for those who do not like to hike, due to covid, visitors have reduced and hotels nearby have been closed temporarily. Before covid there used to be a lot of other activities to do but still you can enjoy yourself and take some photos, you also have the option of visiting the caves. Ornaments shops are also available and you can get beautifully carved artifacts there. Would definitely recommend
This is a perfect place to see, you can view the Nakuru areas and lake Nakuru. On the set you can buy nice ornaments which made with soapstone and Hematite stones. However, it is very unfortunate some people using this Cliff for suiciding 🥲 but all in all this is an amazing location. Due to corona one of the restaurant closed near view point but soon they will resume it. I found this mountain has many caves in one of the cave you can view lake Nakuru and town very clearly.
Lovely view of the crater. To find this place quickly and hassle free, Nakuru county has renamed crater road to Wangari Mathaai road. That road takes you to the forest station office and then directly to the crater. Be wary of the crater edge though. It is made of a flimsy barrier and the volcanic rock is quite slippery. Shoes with a good grip are an added bonus.
A Very nice view of the crater what a wonderful crater for the benefits to f Kenyan citizen
This is the best hike in a very long time but you really have to prepare for it physically and mentally
Best for hikes as there is nothing much to do there other than look at the beautiful crater. Avoid shortcuts being provided by maps and use the main road. The washrooms however, were really bad as per attached photos
Just a badly kept view point, toilets are really bad, plastic everywhere, roads up are not that good, not worth the long drive up . Apart from the view, theres nothing else to do there. Maximum time spent there was 30 minutes.
Had the pleasure of hiking along down and up the menengai crater. Very beautiful views and interesting facts about the caldera and how we conserve it. Great place to get some much needed fresh air
Beautiful peace full and relaxing...
You need a hike? Perfect place for that adventure. The view from the top is breathtaking. Fresh weather. The visit to the natural caves will wow you. The caldera is absolutely a beautiful place.
Picturesque... Magical sunset... Best in the evenings or early mornings when not too hot so can hike through the forest and even visit the caves..
For Hikers. The directions are correct so follow them to the kenya forest station at the base of the hill. Its an easy-moderate hike from the Forest station, would recommend the 7km route inside the forested area though there is a shorter route which is 5km but steeper and on a busy road so its not conducive for hiking.Charges are ksh 282 for Adult citizens
Awesome scenery and the mau mau caves really breathtaking..good place for hiking and falling in love with nature
Nice place but expensive. I do not understand why I have to pay 250/= to go see a crater yet I can go to a national park, pay a similar amount and see a lot more. Its no surprise that we were the only ones at the viewpoint that day. I used to pay 50/= a few years back. As much as the view was splendid, its not worth the fee.
This is a nice place for hiking with friends and family. The view point offers a nice view of the volcanic crater and it can also be used to educate geography students on volcanic activities within the rift valley. On 31st Dec 2019, i went through the crater to Mile 6 area. It was a very epic moment blessed with muscle and sweat. I love this place and i will do this again. The area has kiosks where curious and refreshments can be bought. The road is good and visitors are encouraged to buy or contribute towards maintenance of the forest
It looks scary from the top but the view is so wonderful
So quiet, natural environs fascinating, v can get pretty cold while up there on the clifftop, good for educational tours, camping, hiking, horse riding, watch birds & all the fun activities you can think of for all ages, they also sell artifacts... Photography also presents
Super view from the top. The crater has a 12km diameter and its overwhelming being up there looking at expanse greenery in the bottom! Sheer cliffs of more than 400m! Nice curio and candy shops with friendly and informative sellers in case you dont have a guide
The view is wonderful plus the geothermal. Gift shops selling some cultural artefacts and ornaments are handy. The canteen is not fully stocked coz I needed some airtime and I couldnt find any. There are a few refreshments though. Everything seemed quite okay. However the place is dusty so one should consider being in casual clothes that are a bit dull in colour.
Wonderful spot for a morning hike! Geothermal site, clear view of the surroundings. A couple local gift shops at the top! There is a new lodge for guests, weddings etc.
The view is cool, you can chill over the weekend .
Menengai is the second largest caldera in Africa with the nice view.
Exciting caves used as prayer and meditation areas.... Nice hiking space and awesome ambience for dates.
Dress warm while visiting the view point, its quite windy.Carry some money to buy souvenirs, they have nice Curios.
This was a great trip up to the caldera... If you didn’t know, you will know :. Enjoyed the drive up. They are park fees. 200 per person residential rates. The road is not tarmac but it was good, we made it to the top without scratching underneath and the car is low. The view is so awesome, pictures included. Go have yourself a good time :)..... maybe learn some geography :as you enjoy views from 2,270 metres
Amazing view and a great tour guide. Ensure youre escorted into the park for safety reasons.
The view is just stunning and breathtaking. A must go place in Nakuru. It is especially more enjoyable if you go with friends. The distance from the gate is not for the faint hearted but definitely worth your while. It didnt disappoint even one bit. Definitely an adventure of a lifetime.
