Mendi - Indian restaurant in Porto, Portugal
Best Indian food outside of India. Period!
Delicious food and great service as always
Many options, tasty dishes. If its packed, its a bit noisy and not easy to hear each other.
Really good food, specially the naan bread very authentic! But best of all is the friendly staff
Their food is delicious
Pretty good. Price may be on the high side. I enjoyed the lamb saag.
Exceptional Indian food in Porto. Clearly the best
Super impressed with the food and the people passionately and lovingly running this restaurant! Extremely good food!
The best Indian restaurant with most authentic taste across so far. Super kind staff, passion for guest service. Do not leave anything on the menu without tastingSalted lassi Kadhi kulfi hara bhara kebab my top choicesWould love to visit again
We are an Indian family from US, spent 3 days in Porto and stayed at Sheraton which is about 5 min walk from Mendi. Based on the reviews we decided to try it out. The host was very kind and service was great. However the food was not as expected. We ordered the vegetable birayani and 2 other vegetarian dishes. The birayani was just a mix of rice and vegetables and did not have the typical birayani flavor. The dishes are quite expensive too at 19 euros for the birayani which is more than double the price for the same dish at other Indian restaurants we visited in Lisbon. The host also mentioned the chefs are from India so it was kind of odd that they dont know the what birayani really is.
I found first time good food in porto. I try 4 to 5 Indian restaurant but this one is best. I found real indian test here. And Indian pickle in this resturant is real authentic pickle. But I give just 3 star bcoz resturant food is great but customer service on phone for taking home delivery orders is very very very poor. Who is receiving phone call and working in Indian restaurant she dont have any knowledge of Indian food. So I got too many difficulties to give order. I call 4 times to give order. So I am upset with that.
The food was amazing! A bit pricey, but definitely the best Indian food in the city! Staff is super friendly
Simply superb, and probably the best Indian restaurant in Porto. Hidden away, this is a gem which deserves to be discovered. A family run restaurante, the service is excellent, friendly and polite, always willing to help. The food is to die for. Cant wait to go back.
Overall the food was nice, roti naan not the way I prefer to be done, lentils daal super tasty, rice was okay. Didnt try pastry, but they have big varieties. I found this place overpriced, I mean I had the same quality food for the lower price in Porto
The best Indian food in all of Porto
The food here is so good, great flavours and quality. However, a little pricey for the small portion sizes and a bit of an awkward atmosphere. We expected a bit more, especially because we went for Diwali but other than that it was nice.
Always good food and tasty curries. Never had an issue, been ordering for a few years now
we really Happy for a very good indian meal! Thank you
In my view, perhaps the best Indian restaurant outside India. Quality and taste of the food are outstanding and unlike anything I have tasted in many other places. May seem expensive at first, but in my opinion worth every penny given the extremely high quality of ingredients. Addictive.
My boyfriend and friends enjoyed it a lot. I’m about a big fan of Indian food but it was ok. I ordered the lamb. In general good food but over priced, to have a local lemon water around 3.5 euros a glass. We paid around 135 euros without alcoholic beverages what I found extremely expensive for being Porto, Portugal. The desserts were quite good and you. Can order one or two plates to share since it comes very well served.
Best surprise!! Amazing food... I mean really amazing!! Great ambience and welcoming staff. I truly loved my time there!👍
Excellent! Arriving here you immediately get a warm and cosy feeling about this restaurant. Small-ish in size and nicely, but simply decorated. Although not large, it does not feel cluttered or overly furnished with too many tables. The staff were very pleasant, openly friendly and very accommodating to any specific needs and requests. As for the food, very good! Indian classics mostly that are well cooked, flavoured and spiced to your taste. A good judge is always the naan bread and it was great, as was the tandoori prawns, fish curry and dahl mahkani!I would suggest this restaurant offers good value for money; its not particularly cheap, but you clearly get a better product for your extra cash. Highly recommend!
Lovely place to eat with great service. Starters were not that hot but mains very perfect, great spice and taste.
Exceptional service. Very good Indian food. Highly recommended. Everything my colleague I ordered was prepared quickly, served hot and with a smile. Restaurant was completely full by 9 pm, arrive early or call in your reservation.
Very good Indian food, very nice service, cozy place. The cheese naan was really full of cheese, it was delicious. A little bit expensive.
A nice, cozy Indian restaurant. Prices are on a higher end of scale here. However, you can have a dinner or lunch for an accessible price also(you can see a menu in photos). If you are on a budget than you should try a "dish of the day" which they offer on a lunch, it costs 10.50€. The plates are big so dont worry about leaving this restaurant full. Waiters are considerate and nice. Overall the place is casual and tidy, but not so good for a large group of people.
Authentic, delicious taste of home. We love finding a good Indian restaurant in every city and this did not disappoint. They have a great cook, the food was finger licking and the ambiance wonderful. We had the murgh makhani (butter chicken), murgh palak (chicken with spinach), kadi pakoda (vegetable pakora in a yogurt spiced sauce with garlic naan and rice. The only negative was rice was not included with the entree. Would definitely visit again.
Nice restaurant but flavours somewhat lacking from the same dishes Ive had across the world. Staff were helpful and informative though. Quite expensive for the dishes chosen which Ive had in many other cities.
This place is amazing, the Murgh Makhani was incredible, buttery, delicious. The naan was perfect, the samosas were perfect, the wine was perfect. Overall a great place, a bit out of the way from central Porto but worth the trip.
Very delicious but a bit pricey.
The best Indian restaurant in Porto. And Ive tried them all. Coming from the UK, I am used to excellent quality Indian cuisine, but this is something that is not easily found in Porto - with the exception of Mendi. The only downside, is that it is a little more expensive than some of the other options, but you get what you pay for, so still good value!
Hidden gem. Far exceeded our expectations even after the positive reviews. Slightly more pricey than other options in Porto, but that said extremely enjoyable meal, great service and amazing choice. The murgh kurai was exceptional and the goanese prawn dish deceptive, in a good way, mild to start with then a taste explosion. Definitely on our list for a return visit next time in Porto
The best Indian restaurant in Porto: food, service and atmosphere. A bit pricey, though. During lunchtime, at weekdays, they have the daily dish for a more affordable price. Free parking at the nearby Sheraton hotel.
We decided to try Mendi since we were staying at the Sheraton close by, and we were not disappointed. Some of the best Indian food we have ever had: the curries are great, and so is the tandoori. The only dish that was disappointing was the Gulab Jambu - definitely avoid that one.We were so impressed with the food that we we r back for dinner a few days later, and will definitely go back should we be in Porto again!
I was very excited to eat Halal food finally but when I arrived I found it is not Halal and thanks for the restaurant owners for their consistency and I choose finally some vegetarian options. The Beryani with the vegetables was really delicious and then atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing. If you are with a limited budget I don’t recommend but it worth trying it.
Good food, good staff. Must go! Be careful with the prices, costs around 25 euros per person.
This is a top quality Indian restaurant that cooks amazing dishes with wonderful friendly and knowledgeable staff. It is a place to savour your time.
I have been many times and thoroughly enjoyed every time. I look forward to each opportunity to enjoy every course. This is a top quality experience. Go, savour and absorb the ambiance.😃
Wonderful Restaurant for Indians in Porto. The food is too delicious and comparable to Indian food. I strongly recommend to visit this hotel.
The best Indian food I’ve had in a restaurant. The staff was very friendly, and the food was amazing. I definitely recommend it.
Fantastic restaurant and a bit of a hidden gem in Porto. Great fresh food and very nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Menu is nice and simple but has all the offerings that make you feel like you are in India. Food is cooked to perfection and tastes amazing. Lots of character and very friendly staff. If looking for something a little different in Porto would definitely recommend Mendi which is a just a short walk from the centre.
Our family had a great experience here. The service was wonderful. We had had enough of Portuguese cuisine and needed a change. The cook stayed authentic to true Indian flavors. Absolutely delicious. The 6 of us ate everything.
Superb food. I would highly recommend visiting this place when you’re in Porto. The best part is that The staff is very warm and always open to suggestions.
Nice ambience. Tasty indian food, real taste of curry. Samosas are the best than any other indian resturant in porto. Only thing is its expensive but worth for an indian treat.
Excellent food and service. Were in vacation in Porto with my family. The best Indian restaurant undoubtedly.
The food was tasty and drinks also ok.but the price for this was a huge exaggeration.the quantity of food for the price is definitely not compatible.i was shocked from the size of the dish. The staff was very polite and nice.
Great restaurant. The food is so good and the staff do nice. Just think to book a table before to come.
Being Indian myself, I have very high standards for an Indian restaurant. I gave this restaurant 5 stars for the following reasons:1st star: great ambience, not too bright, not too dark, not overdone and the music was the right volume2nd star: very clean, the bathroom was spick and span3rd star: it seemed to be run by a family and all of them were very personable and friendly4th star: food didnt take too long, it was on time5th star: the food was fabulous! I had the best butter chicken I have ever eaten outside of India. This may sound weird but even the plain yoghurt was delicious. We sent our gratitude to the chefAll in all, go for it!
Excellent indian restaurant! Probably the best in Oporto. Highly recommended!
The food taste alright, but the quantity is not enought for an adult. They should give you more when they charge you 24€ for a plate... Especially when you have to order the rice seperatly
