Memories of India - Indian restaurant in Darwin, Australia
Excellent food. Friendly service. We had 3 dishes which was enough between 4 people but you have to get the tandoori chicken starter. Tender and perfect. Food was quite spicy which we loved. Thanks guys
Delicious curries, but naan and pappadams were not fresh.
Food is good, friendly staffs, specially loved their Kulfy Mango Ice-cream.
Chicken biryani was very dry and the lamb sheikh kebab wasn’t cooked enough.. Very much disappointed !!!!
Best paneer Tikka and chicken chili in darwin and tandoori chicken
Amazing food, the best Ive tasted in 15+ years.
Variety of Starters. Good Dine in and take away Food menu options.Slow service at times.Ample seating options.BYO. No washrooms inside the restaurant yet. Ample parking spots.
In my opinion this is the best Indian restaurant in Darwin, with variety of entrees, curries and naans at very reasonable price, me and my family come here almost every week, even my 8 year old loves this place, especially their Gobi munchurian. Owner is so kind and down to earth, the staff members are very friendly and always serve with smile which is very hard for some restaurants staffs. Highly recommend and me and my families personal favourite 😍. I am not saying they are always 100% sometime they might be 95 or 90% but its good enough for me. 😊 keep up the good work.
Not a decent amount of food for the price they charge. Ridiculously expensive and won’t be enough to fill your tummy. Go somewhere else.
You have to hand it to the team that look after Memories of India, as they were the saving grace of our experience. They kept us well fed and put up with some last minute changes to the seating numbers as we had some people coming along. The food came out in a weird order, we didnt get the bread until halfway through the main course. The dishes are just the right size to order a bit of everything to share with a family or a group of friends (I was with a group of 9 people).I would go back again, however Ive had better Indian food elsewhere.
Double check what you get billed for especially when splitting the bill. My attempt to question being over charged has been met with silence so it’s only fair I leave a review.
Best restaurant in darwin . Good service and delicious food.
You will really go in "memories of India" after visiting this place. A nice , decent, quite place for dinner.I highly recommend Samosa Chat and Papdi Chat.
Loved the Goat. Probs the best I have had!
We went there for birthday celebration, we ordered some Indian dishes, wait for around an hour to get our food, in one of the food that we orders( fried noodles), my sister found the dead cockroaches in it, I took it to the chefs and kitchen staff, actually they don’t show any professional react to it. At the end one of the serving lady come to us and say sorry. We are pretty much regular customers to this restaurant, After this incident I don’t recommend any one to take a risk to eat dead cockroaches or any other insects in the dinner. Now I am thinking that how many times they might serve us that kind of food. They just ruined our birthday celebration.I wish I could give them negative ratings.
They no sense of cookingI had biryani that was worst biryani of my life
Hidden gem. Food was wonderful, well presented and for the first time in my life I felt I could become a vegetarian. The venue is a bit tired but that pales into insignificance.
If I want to explain my experience in one word, that would be ‘horrific and disgusting service’. I called up the restaurant and asked about pani puri if they have microwave based or fresh, and the guy told me they are fresh, however when I entered the restaurant it was a complete disgrace to your customers if you are talking so loud in your own language and not preparing the order. The cleanliness of this restaurant was pathetic as there were cockroaches in the kitchen which made me feel disgusted of the food they were preparing and in the end the dish I ordered was not even fresh. Please try to respect your customers when they walk in and serve them with some dignity.Caution : Never go with a photo the posted on the website.
Awesome food, nice staff & genuine price. Must visit if travelling to Darwin 👌
A bad experience I had , too long to be served I complained about briyani a month ago still the same chicken is too salty.
Very bad experience with poor customer service, talking loudly with each other in their own language. Restaurant should look into the behaviour of such staff members who can be detrimental to their image.
Never recommend this place . Ordered takeaway butter chicken it was four pieces of chicken + uncooked rice (mixed with 99 % of chilli powder & food colour Worse indian food!!
Good food, loved the ambience and nice service, i would recommend if you are looking for quick indian cusine bites, located in the heart of Darwin, easy reach.
We were expecting a lovely experience but unfortunately the waitress forgot our wine glasses and us as we had to flag her down. Fortunately we got an worker who took the order and organised the glasses. The quality of food contrasted. The Goan fish curry was good along with the mixed vegetable curry, however the beef madras curry was poor (lots of fat and gristle). The service on exit was depressing - no smiles, compliments, just package your leftovers over there (we had to locate itand no apologies for the inferior food or service. This place had a good name but we will be going elsewhere.
On Monday 20.12.2021 We ordered samosa and 3 other dishes as entry. On menu it clearly mentioned 6 pieces of samosa per plate. But they served 3 pieces. When questioned, the waiter replied 3 samosa they served were bigger version than what they advertised on menu🤔🤭🤭🤭. To me they are are not big. What memories of india dont under stand is if they advertised on menu 6 they have to serve me 6 regardless the size. If they try to explain different version of samosa than they are cheating customers. We ordered Malai Kofta and khadai panne along with naans. It was salty. At first i didnt complain . But when waiter asked me how is the food, I replied Malai kofta was salty, rest other dishes are good. When I went to pay the bill both ladies at counter (1 who served our table and other I dont know wether she is team leader or chefthey try to explain me that they check the food before it was served and it is not salty, and both ladies try to convince me bcoz I eat less salt at home may be I felt malai kofta salty🤣🤣🤣🤣. How about other dishes???? Did they added salt or notJust malai kofta salty thats it. If they are not ready to accept their mistake they can never improve. Of course mistakes happen. But dont say I eat less or more salt. Accept ur mistake and try to improve from there.Food was ok but not recommended to go their. One more thing to add, there was family sitting next to our table. They received complimentary as papadum, onion and lemons but for us nothing. So dont expect same treatment.
$28 for tiny serving sizes. Such a rip off. Wont be back, wont recommend to anyone. Only came here because Saffrron in Alawa is shut on Monday. Saffrron good, Memories of India rip-off merchant.
We ordered lamb chops, chicken tikka , chicken briyani and gajar ka halwa. All the foods are really good. sauce of lamb chop really amazing and gajar ka halwa remind me of my childhood. Obviously, will be back again.
NOT RECOMMENDED….Went there for a party, we were very excited and we were around 17 people. Host made a deal as a per plate including starters and main curries. Service for the starters was very slow and the quantity was very low. It was not enough for everyone. Upon requesting more serves, Owner just made an excuse and refused to serve more starters. Had to face the embarrassment in front of everyone. We had to leave the restaurant in between and ruined everyone’s night. Will not go there again and will not recommend to anyone.
Went there at a guest in a party of 20 people .waited for food for 2 hours .. gave only staters and made an excuse that it was busy thats way cannot serve .. everyone walked ofas the owner demanded for extra doller to serve . Shame for a restaurant to allow patrons to go home hungry.Never going back again.
Organised a bday party last weekBuffet for $35 eachWent there to make memoriesNever tasted such bad food in my lifePlease ! If you want to try Indian food buy something from supermarket but don’t come to this restaurant
We been to memories of Indian on Tuesday night . Service was so slow we wait nearly 40 minutes for entree and for mains we wait more than an hour but our naan makes us surprise, we order cheese garlic naan on that naan we barely found any cheese and on milcha naan no potato stuffing.Hope we will get Better food next time
Great menu and staff is always great.Kids friendly and also perfect for take away. Our favourite Indian restaurant
Very, very high quality. Delicious, and great serving sizes. Took half of dinner home. Really doesnt get much better than this. Wonderful staff, open plan integrated kitchen and a very neat, clean and cosy place. Check it out for yourself.
One of the best in Dtown. My partner and I had a date there and left very satisfied with the options that we ordered. Staff are friendly and it’s clean inside let alone aircon for Darwin hot days. We will certainly come back and have been recommending the place to our friends and families too.
Absolutely loved having dinner here. The food was authentic and delicious. If you are looking for proper north Indian cuisine then i would highly recommend this place.
This is my favourite indian in Darwin!!! The meals are above and beyond, exceptional with flavour. An extensive menu with a whole section dedicated to vegetarian (and veganmeals - which are absolutely delicious too. The restaurant also has a chocolate naan, which I had never tried before and was happily surprised by.
This Beautiful restaurant has left the best impressions! Hospitable hosts, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, wide varieties of food and wonderful dessert. I recommend to everyone! I would like to come back here again and again.
Great service, the best indian cuisine Ive ever tasted in Darwin. Servings of food was filling and delicious and left our whole family very full and satisfied. Will definitely go again. Best dish? All of them! But my favourite was Punjabi chicken.
Arrive early to enjoy the spaciousness of Memories of India, this place is popular with locals. Great efficient #service with a smile.... #takeaway and delivery possible. Plenty of car park. Great for date. The entree, Chatpati Padi was delicious crispy with complimenting flavours, could be a nice #dessert also. The palak paneer (a personal favoritenot too salty, and with plenty of curd cheese. The #lamb #roganjosh was tasty, not too salty, but the beef chilli masala had a slight coconut flavour which complimented the dish. Finish the dishes with a mango #lassi.
A bit disappointed, over the past 4 years my famy and I have frequented here and seen their popularity grow, their serving sizes diminish (for Indian servings as well!!And their prices increase... Have gone back to the local, saffron. Has always been great food, but now with better deals, serving sizes.. and prices. And Im not the only one thinking that.
No words to describe how good the food is . One of the best Indian in Darwin. Tried chilli chicken tastes awesome 👏Great customer service .
Visited the place on 22/12/19 with high expectations, starters was really good- malai chicken tikka , however, main course punjabi chicken curry was below average with flavours missing and felt like over cooked stew. Rice wasnt good either. Garlic nan was really good. Also ordered mango lassi which was too thick and had too much mango pulp in it !! Overall experience was average. Wont be back. .
I visited this restaurant with my family last month. Ordered prawns that were cold and just swimming over thin gravy, couple of other dishes had very bad taste. Raw garlic over curries. Only positive was chicken masala, that was just ok. Overpriced food. Less than average taste. I expressed my displeasure with food over counter and the lady straight away offered 10 percent discount that I politely refused.
We ate here on our trip to Darwin and it was 100% the best food we have ever eaten and we are very fussy eaters we wish we could have it every day it was that good! The staff were so lovely and accommodating. We havent stopped raving about the place since and cant wait to return.
I have eaten here 4 times now and I have to say its the best Indian food in Darwin. Prices are reasonable. Wait times not too bad. Staff are friendly. Only flaw Ive seen so far was when we asked to get our sit down meal to go and they packaged it inside the dining area where the clean plates are, instead of bringing it into the kitchen to do so. Which in my eyes is a big no-no. Other than that I would definitely suggest it to others and cant wait to go back again!
Im happy to be proven wrong but I havent found better tasting Indian food in Darwin. So consistent and so tasty. Great restaurant table service and realistic takeaway wait times. (They dont tell you itll be ready in 15 and take a halfa...Been multiple times, will be back plenty more.
We went here on a whim and were very happily surprised at the quality and portion size of the meals. Very tasty cuisine and the price was reasonable compared to other places. A couple of mistakes were made with the order but one was caught and rectified without us realising until they approached us about it with the replacement dish already in hand, and the other was quickly fixed. Very friendly staff. We were impressed with our meals and are planning on going back.
We tried several different Indian restaurants in Darwin before discovering Memories of India. It is undoubtedly the best in Darwin. The food is delicious with very generous serves, the staff are friendly and efficient and the restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere. I cant recommend this place highly enough.
This place is AMAZING!!! Must try the lamb chops and chicken tikka masala.
Definitely will be back. Great food, good price, excellent service.
