Memorial and Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau in Bytom

Was a great experience. Very emotional. The organization has a done a good job preserving and maintenance of the place. Everyone should visit this place at least once in their lives to get a glimpse of what history was like and be grateful for what we have now.

In remembrance of all those who suffered during the Holocaust and those who continue to face discrimination, persecution and suffering today.

One of the must visit place when you travel to Krakow

Impactful. This is the only way Id describe this experience. Walking through this place will simultaneously send chills down your spine, and cause you to reflect a bit. Would highly recommend, but not for the faint of heart.

This is one of the most sad places that Ive visited, just pure history.

A place to visit in remembrance, solemnity and pay respect to those thousands of people who died there and to build conscience not to ignore the injustices and atrocities made to others. Very impressive and touching, definitely a must see.

Makes you feel a certain kind of way. Interesting, full of info but you should be prepared for very hot temperatures and very little shade in the summer. Lot of walking but worth it

The online page is tricky, reservation system does not work for individual visitors, on the entrance chaos. Otherwise, obviously, must visit for anyone.

Every human has to be here once in life! Be prepared against the face of Evil!

Place every person should visit. The tortures, forced labour & extermination of people in this and other camps was happening only 80 years ago in central Europe! Seeing & listening about what victims went through certainly puts many aspects of life in perspective and educates on the extend of evil that people are capable of. May we never forget. Visiting with tour guide recommended.

Well explained and there is free shutlle between Auschwitz I and Birkenau. It takes around 1h30 to 2h for visiting each place. Get (freetickets and timeframe for Auschwitz I early or chose later hour and then go first to see Birkenau place and return on time to enter Auschwitz place at designated hour.Cheap and safe parking at Hotel Imperial.

Everyone MUST remember that it was GERMAN CAMPS! German idea, german cruelty and Germans are responsible for all that had happened there. It is just located in POLAND nowadays.

We had a very fantastic guide Jacob (English translation of Jakub), very informative, highly recommend this guide, only wish I would have gotten his last name to properly recommend him to others, perhaps he is the only one with that name so it won’t make a difference!

Thank you kindly to our tour guide Ms. Iwona for amazing yet very emotional journey through the museum.The tour with a guide takes about 3.5 hours which allows to see a few buildings but if anyone would like to see all of the museum, they should come for 2 days. There is no way to see it all in a few hours or even 1 day.

The heartbreaking history of concentration camp!! Guided tour is really appreciable. Well maintained and organized museum and surroundings.

It was sad to see all of building now for real and how they SS man treated them.

I don’t want to rate my experience regarding whole museum aspect, as this is clear - it’s worth to visit and see the scale of Auschwitz crime. Totally recommend it to everyone once in a lifetime. I want to rate organizational aspect, as in my opinion, this museum has two important goals to achieve only: take care of all items that left after 1945 and make it accessible and easy to navigate international -> Organization is the reason why I choose only 1 star: no clear information about ticket’s type, no clear info about free bus, which takes people into the Brzezinka’s camp, no clear notification, that you have to book Pass, even though you want to visit museum individually for free; no individual option AT ALL before 4 pm … and people that take care of parking square - they navigate everyone to the exit screaming that there’s no free spots, where in fact, there’s a lot of empty ones. So messy, tricky and unclear.

This is such a powerful place. No-one should miss If they are visiting Kraków.However, make sure you book in advance and have in mind that guided tours also contain visit to both venues. Local buses are not very often, so pay attention to the timetable so that you do not have to wait too much.

Glad to have gone, only disappointment was the lack of emotion from the tour guide which could have really helped transmit the full weight of the place.

Excellent exibition of horrific human history. You have to take time to see everything apox. 3-4h.

I am giving five stars mainly due to the fact that many people and organisations have taken concrete steps to ensure people dont forget what happened here during WWII. This place is a reminder of the darkest side of human nature, to torture and kill another human for the heck of it..I would recommend this visit to everyone, and to soak in the history that took place not so long ago.

My heart comes to a close at the scene where painful history seems to be breathing until now. Such a tragedy should not happen, but war is happening again in the 21st century, so when will the dictators come to their senses?

Striking atmosphere and sadness there

I went there today and wanted to enter the camp without a guide. Despite having visited the official site off the camp and an info point in Krakow, nobody told me that the available times to enter without a guide are from 12:00 until 15:00 and so I found out when I got there (after 1,5 hour trip by bus). Moreover, if one wants to visit Birkenau, has to buy a ticket from Auswitch. Ive been to Dachau and everything was for free. Truly disappointed from the whole experience.

An experience everybody must go through. I was on the verge of tears. Definitely book a tour guide online, it is easier and makes your trip much comfortable.

Ive visited and photographed many places around the world but none as eerie, emotional and as moving as the concentration camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau. Sad as it is Im pleased that it has been so well preserved and maintained all these years as a memorial and museum of the shocking and evil atrocities that happened during the Holocaust in this part of the world, a terrible period in our recent history.I dont think I need to say much more and will leave it to my photos to do all the talking. I have to add that it was very difficult for me to take photos, but I felt overwhelmingly compelled to do so. However these photos are no substitute at all for being there, feeling it and seeing it with your own eyes. Visiting Auschwitz is a very touching and sobering experience.Some tips:* Buy your entry tickets online to avoid the queues* Get there early to avoid the masses* Take only a small bag with you* If you visit in winter dress warmly* Eat well before visiting.* Do the organized guided tour

A must see in Poland. There is so much history here. Its a much more real experience to see the remnants first hand than to learn about it in school.

I was traumatised but I dont regret going.

A trip to Krakow included a day trip to most notorious concentration camp of WW2. However, despite my rather impressionable nature, I was not overwhelmed with grief. Rather, it was sadness about the lost people, but the place itself does not evoke too much sadness. The 10 minute movie that was shown just before the tour was more impressive. Especially the question - how did we, the people of enlightened Europe, allow this to happen on our territory? The answer, alas, is not within the walls of the museum.I suggest to add some effects, might be only sound or visual within QR code, etc, so them might create a thorn in visitors hearts.

Sad to see to what extent humans can be cruel and devious.

Very impressive. Buying cards on line seems handy, but we didnt get them via the mail after payment .at the museum we had to wait for more then 1 hour to have them printed, so we were 5 minutes late....but it was worth it.

Important place to visit, the place is big and there is loads to read, come here if you have a day to spare.

The terrible thing happend here. But we must to know the truth.

Easy to reach from Krakow, it deserves at least three hours of visit including the near Birkenau camp. Exhibitions are very well organized and documented. Id have preferred to be alone in the visit, but I appreciated very much the guided tour lead by Lukasz Celta.

A place that everyone with the opportunity should visit .

The experience is very hard to describe and unfortunately one cant say it is enjoyable, but it is definitely a must visit place! This mustnt happen again!

Everyone that comes to Poland should visit this place. Its the most important historical event in recent European history. Easy accessible by own car or public? Busses from Krakow. Parking was 18 Zloty, 4 euro. Tickets have to be bought online before the visit. I would advise to pay for a guide to get extra information.

As you can imagine, a deeply surreal, moving and thought-provoking place. I honestly believe everyone should visit here. The tour guide was very good too.

I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to properly describe what it is like to visit Auschwitz. But it is a place that everyone should visit and absorb what happened there and remember that people that died.

This is a place that I think everyone should visit in their life. We all know about the Horrendous Atrocities sadly committed here by the Nazi Regime during World War Two. Its very sad to see some of the Exhibits, The Hundreds of Shoes and Empty Cases that were left by Prisoners of War who were Gassed here. Be prepared, its very sad.
